We Lost, but We Still Won Michael Caro scoring Puerto Rico's first International Goal With only one game remaining against the Imperial Hudson Reich in the Cup of Nation's, Puerto Rico, win or lose, will be coming home defeated, eliminated from the Cup of Nations. "We arn't surprised really. We played as hard we could, but our team was just formed and our Professional League at home hasn't kicked off yet" coach Toribio Rojas said during press questioning after the 2nd game. "What is important is that we got some international experience, and maybe The Republic will be taken a little more seriously in the future" Michael Caro, the Republics first international goal scorer, is being hailed as a National Hero by many within the Republic and even El Presidente's Administration. "That goal was amazing. I felt so excited when I watched the ball hit the back of the net. It's a shame I couldn't get another and tie the game" Michael told reporters right after the game. "I hope we do even better Against the Imperial Hudson Reich" El Presidente has declared in Celebration of the Goal, and the Teams Performance, he will be personally attending the Final game against the Imperial Hudson Reich, and then Officially kicking of the Liga de Fútbol Republicano once the national Team returns home. Folks, the world may view us as winners, but we in the Republic couldn't be prouder for simply being at the Cup. This is Emilio Esteves, and I will be back for our final game against the Imperial Hudson Reich and then our return home. Adios
2. As long as new players do not have to ask for land, then I'm good with anything that changes the current way of things
3. OOC: this funky DJ recognizes this RP. Keep going, lest I lay some mad beats upon ye
4. "The Latin Revolutionaries" they called themselves. They were a group of Puerto Rican volunteers, operating under the radar and unbeknownst from El Presidente's government, working closely with Dominican groups like themselves to spur revolution in. Operating from their secret base on the Isla Mona, they feared no discovery, for the one advantage of being from an underdeveloped nation was guaranteed safety and invisibility from the high tech and computer dependent 1st world empires. Here they packaged AK assault rifles, RPG's, and other assorted cold war weapons, ammo, food, and survival supplies, sent along with willing volunteers to the Tahoans in Swakopmund...
5. Many Puerto Rican youths (unbeknownst to the government) as well as many more adults, have begun making their way to the region to assist in fighting the revolutionary cause.
6. Fandom Across Puerto Rico is at highest and so is it's Soccer Hooliganry. Fans were still cheering wildly despite the loss. "Look, papi! we are on TV!" one Puerto Rican Child was quoted saying after seeing his team on TV
7. Emilio had left to cover the Cup of Nations, replaced by Viktor Kilunga. The Funky Republic did not sign the treaty, but still stayed at the conference. Viktor would wait to hear what other delegations proposed before saying anything if at all.
8. "A food court?! Were are we going to put a food court?" Villanez cried. It was just one mounting problem after another. "Listen we could work the engineering problems with the magma bubble with the Futbol Lounge, but to add a food court? Ai! I don't see how it would fit in the project!"
9. Viva la York! HI THERE FOLKS! It is I, Emilio Esteves, reporting live here in San Juan Airport as people by the hundreds and thousands prepare to leave for the Republic of York. After being drawn into Group G of the Cup of Nations being held in the Republic of York, York citizens will no doubt have noticed the immense spike of foreign ticket sales...that spike, which was created by you, loyal fans of your National Team! Yes folks, the Puerto Rican National Team, fondly known as "The Ravers" by El Presidente, should already be settled into their location in York, currently awaiting the schedule for their first matchup. Folks, we have never played on the international scene, but it is here we will make a name for ourselves as one of the best Teams in the World!
10. OOC: WEWT 32 TEAMS!!! Go Pravus go go go go go
11. Communist Party Leader Arrested Carlos Arigonlez; 22 and a San Juan University student, was arrested by campus police along with severl other communist party members after being caught doing weed and selling the illegal plant on campus. "This is just the work of the Christian, conservative movement to keep big business owners in power and richer and the lower classes poorer and ignorant of the evils of capitalism!" Arigonlez was quoted on saying before being shoved into the back of a squad car, his multicolored beanie falling of his head.
12. This Funky DJ notes that there are a lot of unfunky, greedy people voting here. This funky, funky DJ is glad that the space he picked was completely white or else I'd still be looking for space on the map. It's interesting to note how many people oppose new players and returning old ones
13. "Nah, it shouldn't" Carlos said, waving the idea aside dismissively "It's just a minor magma bubble created by some seismic activity going around the crater; pretty standard stuff, even for dormant areas. WE just have the misfortune to be building on top of that bubble, and it's looking to destablize the crust around it. This is going to drive our creditor's insane..." he said as he took out his walkie-talkie. "Hola! yes yes, don't scrap the project. Built adjustments...Si! I am aware of the costs, just do it!" Villanez said testily into his portable radio. He sighed and took a drink of water. "So, mi amigo, what news do you have?"
14. OOC: Sorry I wasn't sure if I was accepted or not. 15. "The Problem is that the are we've started building on is highly unstable. It just became that way due to the volcanic activity below. We now gotta decide if we want to try to reinforce the foundation and construct safeguards against the land or relocate the entire project" Roberto said. "The sudden change has completely taken us by surprise. there were no predictions of such a sudden shift in both volcanic and seismic activity"
16. Nation Name: Funky Republic of Puerto Rico National Team Name: Puerto Rican National Futbol Team (or The Ravers) World Continent: South America (? in deh caribbean) Previous International Experience: none
17. This Funky DJ votes yes. Admittedly I didn't have to ask for land, because the Space I picked wasn't marked or labeled with any protectorate status, but I DID have to ask for land before Puerto Rico opened up. Folks, this protectorate thang is just plain unfunky, and keeping new players from coming in, and old players from coming back.
18. Roberto, being a small skinny man with gray hair and a very gray, droopy mustache, was waving his sun hat to fan himself. "Your late, compadre!" he said as soon as Carlos had huffed his way up to the gate. "We have food in the public mess tent, not too much because there is a lot of work to be done yet. We have a problemo, senor" he said, leading Carlos now up the gravel road to the main construction site. There were workers and machinery everywhere
19. "El Presidente...that was...that was...truly remarkable" Juanito said in awe. el Presidente stood looking over the field, drink in hand. "It's how you handle revolutionaries, Juanito. You gotta ask them to be clear of their purpose, or else its all just propaganda..." Finite OOC: thread was
20. it's because for the rest of this month I'll be World Cupping and moving to a new place which PROBABLY doesn't have internet.
21. "But if it is American nations dominating other American regions, is it still subjugation? Is the liberation movement an ethnic liberation movement? to give all ethnicities their own countries? or is it a region liberation, to make all political borders their own countries?" El Presidente asked, leaning back again. He took a vew moments to let silence in the room settle. Juanito was a little shocked; this was the most political, indeed philosophical he had ever seen El Presidente. "The movement sounds nice when the purpose is vague, but in the end you must be clear on that stance, lest the revolucion dies. When you next ask me what I think about the revolucion, have that clear purpose in mind, commandante" El Presidente finished. There was more silence. This was clearly not El Presidente as he often presented himself. "So, what is the next topic you have to bring to the table, my dominican friend?"
22. Some time...probably measured in months later... The construction was going already at a rapid pace. Himynamistan engineers and Puerto Rican engineers, and Puerto Rican Labor, were busy setting up the telescope and observatory station. Roberto Villanez, top Puerto Rican Astronomy Scientist, was waiting at the gated entrance to the construction site. He was impatient, waiting on the Himynamistan scientist that was supposed to be meeting him, for he was very very late
23. El Presidente would like to take time to congratulate his homeland for being united once more
24. El Presidente waved away the cigar. "If by imperialist hands, you mean the North Americans, then I'm not sure what yo say, Commandante. My little island paradise here isn't a fighting one. Our technology is old and to be honest we have no interest in sending troops or raising armies. That funky Holy American Empire seems pretty strong, and even if they have some silly notion about Puerto Rico being some kind of 'Daughter-State' (by the Way, Juanito, you're gonna still have to explain that to me), they strike me as pretty independent. Then of course there is all the nations between HAE and Texas that have formed, and all seem pretty set against a foreign intervention" el Presidente Paused, leaning back in his chair, his hands together in thought. "I think, in the end, it depends on what your looking for in a free-independent latin country. I can support any and all freely elected governments by their people, if that's your drift, my funky comrade"
25. Republic representative...Me! Emilio Esteves, savvy reporter, political pundit, and looking great in a mustache, arrives at the summit at the behest of the Puerto Rican Government.
