  1. There are major coal deposits within our Empire, and most within the Melvin Republic. We have confirmed that there are over 100 million tons of high-quality coal reserves just within the Chongqing region. We are geologically blessed with huge reserves of the cheapest energy on earth! Combined with the extremely cost-efficient nuclear power available, I see no need to follow the recent "cool" trend of solar panels when we can generate energy so cheaply. Why don't we use this to our advantage to launch satellites at a much lower cost? I could see the drop in price causing a huge spurt of growth in the technological sector of our economy.
  2. Thank you for this detailed explanation, this has definitely built my support for this project. The Melvin Republic launches thousands of satellites annually, so this project will definitely be beneficial in the long run. We are not so excited about the solar panel project, since burning coal or harvesting nuclear energy is much cheaper to power the space elevator than expensive solar panels.
  3. We agree with Chairman Vortex... Landry chuckles as she said to the Chairman, "Maybe we should have backed the GNR, then the world may have appreciated the Empire's attempts at peace."
  4. OOC: Not classified We would be very interested in that maglev equipment, would you be able to quote a price?
  5. The Melvin Republic agrees for the most part. Our citizens are very interested in what kind of economic reward this Space Elevator will bring the Empire, considering the exorbitant costs if running such a project.
  6. Preliminary estimates have found that the 1st stage production costs of the underground maglev project to be 5 billion dollars. We request that those funds be transferred to the MUMS fund, where Melvin Republican accountants can distribute the money to the various contractors and government workers. The $5 billion dollars will cover the costs of surveying the best possible routes, as well as physically digging the tunnels.
  7. OOC: Currency board ftw! IC: The Melvin Republic is glad that we have such an economic-minded leader running the finances of the Empire. Our economy has been growing stronger knowing that it is backed by such a secure Empire Treasury.
  8. President Landry: "You must excuse me for my tardiness on these issues my dear comrades, I have recently fallen ill and was not in a state to make decisions." OOC: I'm having some health issues. Seizures, etc. I'll be more active now that I'm done with the medical testing. Melvin Republic votes "aye" and does not veto any past votes.
  9. You could also use your Military Advisor tool to max out your military and see what your nation can support, without incurring extra upkeep expenses or breaking surrender terms. However, make sure you RP the expenses of having a full standing army.
  10. We will begin airlifting basic necessities into your major urban areas as soon as possible. Could you please give us a population estimate so the Melvin Republic can order the proper amount of masks. Also, if samples of this Scourage could find their way into our laboratories, I believe it would be very beneficial for both of us.
  11. Imperial Decrees decided autonomously can not be found in our Constitution, in fact I'm not sure how these Decrees can be legally justified at all. Agreed. I have no problem with the recent decisions made by Dragonisia and would have voted for them, but we can not start cutting corners so early into our statehood. OOC: ZOMBIES! IC: Will your state require military or financial assistance? These are the two things the Melvin Republic can personally provide, and I'm sure the Empire will do everything in our power to stall the spread of this disease.
  12. We have begun the bids on the rest of the defense contracts, we expect production to be underway in approximately one month.
  13. I've noticed a large amount of Imperial Decrees flashing across the news. I find this to be extremely interesting, for this Congress has been relatively silent.
  14. Production of the aircraft chassis is underway, several new facilities have been constructed within the Melvin Republic to assure fast production. Louisiana, we need the specifications and arnament of this aircraft to present to Congress and munitions managers.
  15. Update on the Military Mass-Production Initiative With the final bid for new military hardware production facilities placed by Melvin Munitions, 98% of the Initiative's funding has been allocated. The remaining 2% will be reserved for hiring additional firms to assist with slow-moving construction sites. Nationwide, construction is estimated to be around 75% complete. At the moment there are 37 new and finished facilities and 21 of these are already in operation. There are 329 defense contract plants that are still under construction. Breaking News Farawary Military Inc. has announced that its cooperation with Innovative Consultants has been extremely successful. The new piece of machinery designed last year has been implemented in the production line, improving productivity 24%. This is slightly lower than than earlier estimate of 30%, however they plan to more than make up for this discrepancy. They have announced that Innovative Consultants has suggested a reformed labor system within the firm. The change would allow supervisors to decide a successor who would in turn assist the supervisor in improving production line speed. Also, these team leaders would receive incentive pay based on employee productivity. Innovative Consultants claims that these changes would increase production speed of the M1A1 Tanks by 20%, while incurring an increase in wages paid by 5%.
  16. The following can be provided for $65 Billion by the Melvin Republic. It will be the lowest price you will see on this planet, since we specialize in domestic industries and have recently begun a mass-production initiative in the basic munitions listed. The first set of products can not be provided at a competitive price, however.
  17. The Melvin University offers Phil301 - Introduction to Logic, it would definitely be worth your money in instances like this. Notice the bolded part, this is the noun he refers to in the first part of his sentence. Notice the italicized part, this is the noun he refers to in the second part of the sentence. Notice how the two are different? Logic.
  18. Personally, I believe that the Reich is doing nothing wrong, they are simply wrapping up a year+ war. If they had issued a DoW on Mariehamm, or if Baron Uberstein had seemed more eager for peace I could sympathize with him. However, we feel that the Reich is right in this instance. We support no action, for we feel that the Reich shall be victorious, regardless of our help.
  19. One year playing Cybernations is a long time, I feel like it is more fun and realistic to RP with rapid time progression. It allows neat projects to be built, and fits in nicely with wonders (I don't see any countries getting Internet, Universal Health Care, and a Strategic Defense system completed all in one year). 1 month = 1 year was my vote. I feel like it allows us to fit our rapid style of gameplay into a realistic timeframe.
  20. The Melvin Republic approves and is excited to see the good things that come of this.
  21. All Dragon Empire member-states are to change to Defcon 3. Here is the following rough schematics, additional revisions can be made if requested. Proposed by President Landry, Melvin Republic
  22. I considered this as I placed my vote, I do see the possibility of diplomatic benefit. Is it worth it? I'm not sure. Your first point I will hotly contest, government expenditure with the only purpose other than expenditure will only increase the economy in the short run and will hurt it in the long-run. However, if we can add in revisions like the second suggestion to make them worth the cost I may be swayed. Again, if the other members support this I will not use veto powers.
