  1. Update on MUMS project Surveying has been complete, and the schematics have been altered to exclude the NPR (which seceded from the Empire). Construction and blasting for the tunnels has begun, and engineers claim that the preliminary tunneling will be finished in one year. President Landry: "We have a question for the state of Dragonisia. I noticed we were a member of the World Congress, what responsibilities and restrictions come with that membership?"
  2. While the Melvin Republic does not believe in shipping taxes, we see it as no reason to break off diplomatic ties and attempt to isolate a nation. Perhaps they are having financial woes and need the additional income. Or maybe they just don't want people in their territory, and are using economic tools rather than outright prohibition.
  3. Thank you for the timely response. If any more market issues arise, I will address them within these chambers. The market seems to be under control, and in good hands, for the moment.
  4. OOC: Jesus Christ, do you search this subforum soley for the purpose of being a tattle-tail? IC: Melvin Republic has moved half of its troops to the coastline for defense and the other half to Lu for defense and also has arranged its air forces in the North East sector.
  5. "I truly feel sorry for your citizens. Their leader is willing to rush to war and make threats without even a grasp of the political climate they are participating in. As stated by my comrades, Somal is a fellow Dragon Bloc member."
  6. President Landry laughed out loud, "If the Empire is expelled and Yamato remains, the overwhelming hypocrisy would completely destroy the credibility of Pax Pacifica as a political entity."
  7. ooc: thanks MV. My health has gotten much better, just a heads up for spotty activity. ic:"Thanks for get-well wishes, they are much appreciated." President Landry coughed, then said, "I'd like to address the selling off of our strategic oil reserve. This has been acted upon without our approval, and at this very moment the volatile energy market is seeing a huge decrease in invested assets. This may not mean much elsewhere, but within the Republic this is horrifying news." The President coughed again, "Dragonisia, you do an excellent job in directing this Empire and the degree of autonomy you carry is MUCH deserved. However, whenever economic decisions are to be made I need to be informed and supportive. This is not a threat or demand, in fact if you wish to continue I will still support you and the Empire. However, we must keep in mind that I may be impeached at any time if my citizens are unhappy, and they get REALLY unhappy when they watch their energy investments start tanking."
  8. People do not need to worry about crashing oil prices. Almost the entirety of the Melvin Republic's multi-trillion dollar economy is fueled by fossil fuels, and this will not change for quite some time. Our Congress has approved the purchase of a large portion of this sell-off.
  9. initiate: to begin, set going, or originate I do not believe that the Dragon Empire has begun a war with Yamato. They are the aggressors. The Melvin Republic has taken note of the warrantless diplomatic aggression Glorious Aotearoa is partaking in.
  10. The Melvin Republic does NOT acknowledge this transfer from fossil fuels. They are still the most efficient fuel source BY FAR, and will remain so for several decades. There is no evidence to show that oil production has peaked, and there is no evidence that switchingto renewable energy is in the best interest of the national economy.
  11. President Landry appeared on a television screen: "My comrades I have fallen very ill as of late, and I will not be participating in our affairs as actively as I was before. The Republican Congress will be taking over the affairs of our state. They are unbelievably slow, but very reasonable people. I am essentially trusting my economy and military with the Empire." OOC: Vacation for a week
  12. LMAO, I'm sorry to ruin everyone's fun.... Dude, every single person in this thread is playing a joke. All of the people decrying nuclear war are doing it just to get rational people like you fired up. Personally I think it's hilarious, but I don't want you to think everyone here is a dolt. Just look at the AA of half of these "pacifists," it's Mushroom Kingdom! They are notorious for the first-strike nuclear policy. So don't get worked up over it. Obviously your point is correct, and everyone agrees with you.
  13. President Landry wandered, "What is the motive behind this? Surely the Empire has given no impression of agression toward this nation."
  14. The Melvin Republic supports Artemis's move into our Empire, under one condition - All of their weapons and goods must be purchased from within the Empire.
  15. The Melvin Republic votes "aye" to both measures. (admittance and intervention)
  16. Melvin Republican physicists and weapons specialists have already begun work on recalibrating the nation's nuclear stockpile towards skyward targets. If any other nuclear-capable nation wishes to join us in this task, we encourage cooperation.
  17. If I were you, I would fire your intelligence agents. Our industrial sectors are equal in size, now will you stop this bickering? OOC: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?s...t&p=1441450 Infra: 12,009 Tech: 4,600
  18. We agree. If we slam that asteroid with 200 nukes hitting simultaneously, it will break it up into enough small pieces that it would burn up upon entrance of the atmosphere.
  19. OOC: Nothing to be sorry about, I'm just making a sales pitch for you to join the Empire
  20. Lutai, you are more than welcome to assist us in our humanitarian projects. However, if you want to be an integrated member in decision-making in things like this, you should consider joining the Dragon Empire. You will automatically be a member of legislature and will have a voice in the last Empire of the world.
  21. BAHAHAHAAHAA!!! Sorry, that joke caught me extremely off guard. Industry and economics is the ONLY thing the Melvin Republic excels at. With a GDP of $2.33 Trillion, I think it is extremely fair to say that the $50 Billion spent on satellite launching is a "drop in the bucket." So, do you have any more baseless arguments?
  22. Thousands should not be plural, my mistake. It is interesting that you assume a cost of over $100 million dollars per satellite launch, when the majority of satellites launched are small and can be released in batches by shuttles or by relatively cheap $30 million launch vehicles. Recent developments have indicated a possible launch cost of $6 million which is one-third of the going rate. Let's assume an average cost of $50 million dollars per satellite, the cost to launch a thousand satellites would be around $50 Billion dollars. This is a mere drop in the bucket for the Melvin Republic's private sector (which does nearly all of the launches) of the economy, especially for a nation so obsessed with interconnectivity, technology, and economics. OOC: Thousands = too expensive Thousand = very possible
