  1. President Landry: "I vote 'Nay' to giving any territory to Pax Pacis for now."
  2. "While I understand your geopolitical situation and was in the same position before early in my nation's life, I do not foresee this happening. Pax Pacis invaded our sovereign soil merely weeks ago... please keep this in mind. Let's put it this way, the border casualties the Melvin Republic sustained are still warm in the ground and their families are extremely upset. Now you ask that those families living in the south of my country must be forcefully evacuated or come under the control of those who murdered their sons. I don't think so. Also, what is in this for the Empire? Nothing? We just lose territory, as well as a ground link to our enemy? Melvin Republic votes 'Nay.'"
  3. President Landry sent a private message to Chairman Vortex and Anthony Davis: "I'm terribly sorry, but I cannot support this flying carrier idea. You know I have always valued your leadership and innovation when it comes to the Empire. However, we believe that this will be a huge money-sink. Check out my official statements for my reasons of denying. Again, I'm terribly sorry." **In the Congress** "The Melvin Republic votes "Nay" to research and development of a flying air carrier, and will carry out a veto of the proposal if passes. The concept just screams inefficient use of government funds. The costs will be huge to go through all the stages of invention and production, with little benefit to show for it. The Empire has allies across the world in which we can station our aircraft. I can see the headlines in the Republican Times: 'President Landry Squanders Billions on Huge Zeppelins' Followed by: 'President Landry Voted Out of Office - Anti-Empire President Assumes Position' That is not something I can risk, nor can the Dragon Empire."
  4. You are more than welcome to work with Melvin Republican soldiers within this plan. Excellent, I'm glad our honorary member has returned. Melvin Republic votes in favor. Melvin Republic proposes that we enter the economic treaty on the Imperial level.
  5. OOC: Wow, the OOC needs to stop with this post. There have been 3 IC posts out of 14 total... President Landry: "How has the sit-in progressed?"
  6. OOC: We can't move that fast... Let's take it slow for the sake of RP and Marquis Chris. I'm maybe halfway to Hanoi..
  7. *** Melvin Republic Infantry *** Corporal Lu had never seen real combat before, just like any other Melvin Republic citizen born during the current regime. She and her comrades had trained very hard for the past 3 months, but she was by no means a professional soldier. Before her training began she worked as a programming technician, and her recruitment was identical to most Republican soldiers. She saw the advertisements on the internet claiming that one of the highest paying jobs was available to anyone in the nation over the age of 20. She went to her local recruitment office and was graded based on her abilities, both physical and mental. After vigorous examination by a doctor, she was lead to the shooting range and was tested on accuracy in the standing and prone position. Lu then ran a timed mile and did other exercises in which the results were recorded. She scored exceptionally well in physical endurance and did very well in marksmanship. She left the recruitment office and checked her email when she got home, and Lu had already received her calculated salary if she joined the Melvin Republic military. She fondly remembered calling her mother and excitedly informing her about a more than double increase in her wages. Lu already had her stock options planned for when she began receiving the government salary... BANG A mortar shell landed 60 meters from her squad and all ten soldiers flattened themselves to the ground. They were not trained for this type of combat, the hidden-in-the-bushes defense that the Khmer Empire has adopted. They had read about Dragonisia's successes against this guerilla warfare and envied their ability to fight in that capacity. The squad got back on its feet and the sergeant signalled to move forward along the ditch. They were escorting several M1A1 tanks on the road above them and had to keep up with them while they advanced into the jungle. Lu remarked to Private Strei, "Rumor is that we are heading toward Hanoi and the Empire is positioned to take Haiphong." She was met with silence, her fellow soldier was not as comfortable in the warzone as she was apparently. SSPPHHEEEEEEWWWWWW BOOM Corporal Lu was thrown to the ground from the force of the explosion. An RPG had soared over her head and slammed into the M1A1 tank on the road above her. With her ears still ringing, she climbed up onto the road to investigate the damage. Several Republican soldiers were already firing in the direction of the ambush and the tank suffered no structural damage. The situation was under control and sergeant sent a small group to investigate the area that the RPG was fired from. The radio call came through ... "all clear" ... and right at that moment hell broke loose. The jungle came alive as dozens well-armed Khmer Empire guerilla warriors laid fire into the squad. Lu ducked back into the ditch as three rounds richocheted off the tank. "RETURN FIRE!!" Lu and Strei stood up next to each other and began firing into the jungle. At first was mostly blind firing, but Lu's keen eyes zeroed in on the movement and muzzle flashses as the battle continued. She placed her sights onto a small bush that spawned a muzzle flash every few seconds and squeezed the trigger rapidly. She watched as a Khmer soldier slumped down clutching his stomache, his hands unable to stem the red flow. She froze for a moment as she soaked in the reality of her action. A human life, she claimed a human life for a higher salary... and she did not regret it. Lu regained her composure and continued firing. Private Strei yelled into her helmet, "They're moving to our ri..." CRACK Lu looked to her right and saw the remaining half of her comrades face. All of her elation and adrenaline turned into a cold perception of this reality she was in. She did not want to see any more comrades die, and she ran down the line to the sergeant. On the way there she stepped over two of her former squadmates. She began yelling but was immediately cut off by an M1A1 120mm gun. She yelled again, "Call in an anti-personell missile on the enemy location! We are getting cut up badly out here!" The sergeant did not reply and instead began yelling into his communication officer's ear. He yelled loudly, "Pull back 500 meters! LET'S GO! LET'S GO!" Lu and the squad began running as fast as possible in the direction they came from. A few minutes later, the scream of a cruise missile cut through the air a few seconds before the impact. The explosion rocked the squad and nearby tanks but was a safe distance away. The jungle from which the intense gun and rocket fire erupted was silenced and slowly burning. The squad called in a medevac to remove their 3 dead and 2 wounded. Didn't look like Corporal Lu would see Hanoi anytime soon.
  8. I say we go in regardless, for two reasons. The first reason being that the citizens of this nation will suffer greatly if we do not engage and restore order! Their infrastructure has been destroyed, their supplies rerouted to their guerrilla forces and not their citizens. These men and women have endured through a lot, I say that we go in and make their lives much safer and happier. Reason two: if we do not forcefully remove those at the top, they will regain their strength and subsequently we will have a hostile neighbor for eternity. If there is a proposal on the floor that rescinds our land invasion than I vote no, and I would veto the proposal. Your reasoning is sound on a short timescale, but in the long-run is not in our best interests. I support this statement. The use of non-conventional weapons must be answered for. ooc: Also guys, as you make your battle movements it would be a huge help if you could visualize it with a map. I have no idea where our forces are at the moment.
  9. Just for clarification, do not assault with any troops until the attack command is given. How long before our air campaign begins? And how long after that shall the land campaign begin? I suggest we carry out our air offensive now, and follow with ground forces in 24 hours. Also, I'd like to announce that Dragonisia may have control over Republican air-forces, and that the Empire as a whole may control my military. ooc: Going to be really busy soon.
  10. "Excellent, we welcome our allies to the battlefield. If you check out our battle plan in the Imperial Congress you can see our basic attack plan. If you wish to enter the upcoming battle, you would be most helpful by supporting Somal's armed forces.
  11. Ground Invasion Plans Army group one will be headed up by Dragonisia, Hea Da Fung, and Andonian military command. Army group two will be headed up by Kingom of Cochin military command. Army group three will be headred up my Melvin Republic military command. Dark red is Somalian forces. It is imperative that Army group 1 and Somalian forces arrive at their destinations quickly to cut off forces in that area. Melvin Republic shall be sending 2,000 tanks with Army Group 1, and 2,000 with Somalian forces. I will send a transcript of this to Somal.
  12. Observe the movement and broadcasting of Dragon Empire officials, then listen to the audio recordings yourself, I presented them in a logical fashion. If you wish to ignore this very obvious evidence, there is nothing more we can do for you. It is clear this was an attempt to rile up the Dragon Empire. You keep mentioning this "alternative option," but I still do not see a way of forcing their government to surrender without national warfare. Internationally, nobody seemed to care about the massacre of our diplomats sent on a well-intentioned visit. Covert operations are rarely carried out due to the inherent risks involved. The nation OBVIOUSLY did not want to negotiate with us, and the community seemed to care little about our devastating loss. The best option we had was one that sought justice with the fewest lives taken, be they Khmer or Dragon citizens.
  13. I would vote "no" for that movement. However, I propose that the ultimatum be extended another 48 hours. There is no need to rush the negotiations, but we need closure to this situation.
  14. "I cannot believe you have seriously posed this statement."
  15. "Everybody has been requesting for evidence that Dragon Empire was sending a team of diplomats. I have prepared the following: - Unconfirmed report of DE attack on Khmer village. International investigation was forbidden. 30 minutes elapse - Kingdom of Cochin announces that our Empire is sending in a team of diplomats 40 minutes elapse - Diplomatic mission is confirmed to have landed at Hue Airport Voice recording of Conversation - DE is accused of being an assimilating culture-killing machine - DE diplomats responded and and addressed Pax Pacis The voice link captured the following: - Hun Sen: "I've got something to show you ..... HE'S GOT A GUN!!" - No gunfire from diplomatic team - Guards rush into room and fire on the ten diplomats I think it should be obvious that this is a set-up. Nobody in their right mind would attempt an assassination and so rigorously broadcast the entire ordeal step by step to the international community. This attempt to dirty the Dragon Empire enfuriates me."
  16. So you are proposing a full-out conventional war, with us fighting to their capital, to place these men on trial? Obviously you do not value the lives of armed servicemen as much as we do. The amount of casualties the nation suffered could be inflicted in a few hours of battle, we would rather hold those responsible accountable and not risk additional lives.
  17. "I have always hated that quote, 'an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.' That's why we were blessed with two eyes. The first time you act like a belligerent with no concern for others, you lose an eye. The concept is that you will have learned that being a jerk is not helpful to anyone and carry out the rest of your life in 2D. Seriously, our nations are at war. The government of Khmer Empire AUTHORIZED the outright murder of our unarmed brothers and sisters. Said government refuses to cooperate with us, two nations enter a state of conflict. We eliminate those ordered the slaughter of our friends and comrades. If they do not agree to our ultimatum within 47 hours we will have to resort to more military force."
  18. President Landry: "What are you talking about? Khmer Empire did not kill soldiers, they killed ten of our unarmed diplomats. I lost a good friend in that massacre, and I don't plan on being merely an bystander obvious instance of belligerence. Normally, we would have asked for the heads of the war criminals and none of this would have been necessary. However, Khmer Empire has attempted to cover this whole incident as a failed assassination... WE SENT IN DIPLOMATS!" Presidnet Landry shook visibly, the stress of the recent times taking a toll on her body. For a moment she had lost her cool... "The Khmer government has shown obvious signs that they will not claim responsibility in this issue. Our attempts at negotiation ended in the slaughter of our entire team of representation. These actions should be condemned by the world as a horrible violation of international ethics! For all intents and purposes, our Empire and the Khmer Empire are at war. We issued the ultimatum to this nation to avoid furthur war, trust me we tire of these recent conflicts. They are the belligerents, and have refused our attempts at peace. How badly will this violence escalate? The answer is the Khmer Empire's to make."
  19. ***Message to Somal*** President Landry: "We send our deepest condolenses, may your daughter rest in peace. While we are having difficulties in Southeast Asia, we want you to know that the Empire always supports our allies. If Dragonisia wasn't so qualified to assist you in this matter, you can be sure the Melvin Republic would be here for you."
  20. "The Melvin Republic agrees with Dragonisia's suggested course of actions. When the missile hits, our ultimatum will be presented to the Khmer Empire.
  21. OOC: Yeah, I was hoping everyone would RP the border battle. If you weren't surrendering I'd insist we go back and have a real battle take place. Melvin Republic aircraft will fly on the periphery of the DMZ, but will avoid it when possible.
  22. The Melvin Republic votes aye to the Dragonisia's proposal. The deal is finalized, and the territory currently occupied by Empire soldiers belongs us as a temporary DMZ. As a sign of good will, the Empire will withdraw all tanks and armored divisions from the area. Imperial Congress, I ask that you review my proposal on the Khmer Empire Ultimatum. We cannot let the deaths of our trusted and friendly diplomats, they will not sacrifice their lives and have it be unanswered by the Draong Empire. The proposal currently has 2 "aye" votes, one more and the ultimatum will be issued.
