1. Voted checkbox because that is always how you should vote.
2. I seem to recall one of our founders mentioning that they made it up. You'd have to ask him to be sure though.
3. Two? I am only aware of this one.
4. I (and others before me) have had a tendency to pontificate about the past and ideals and such on this date, but I won't lie, I just happened to be reading the OWF today and noticed what the date was. It's hard to believe that it was 6 years ago that all those storied events concluded, and even harder for me to believe that this September will be my 9th (holy crap) anniversary in CN. It's been a crazy ride so far, and while things aren't the same as they used to be, there must still be something here that we all care about. Something that keeps us here after all this time. I don't really know what that thing is, but I like to think that part of it is what we've done in this little world, and the stories we've created. So for all of you who were around back then, both with or against us, take a moment to think about those stories. And for those of you who joined after the events that lead up to this day 6 years ago, go read the wiki articles about what happened back then, and maybe ask one of us old timers what it was like. It was a hell of a time to be around. Happy Vox Remembrance day everyone.
5. Happy Birthday friends! The NADC is only slightly older than my nation (on a side note, I will have played CN for 8 years this Sept, I feel kinda old).
6. Too much Vox in one place might spark a revolution. I may come and visit though! Edit: This is supposed to be quoting Starfox, but despite my complaints, admin won't install the forums fix I asked for.
7. Today is May 20th. A day on which Planet Bob was changed forever. A day that saw a ragtag band of revolutionaries see their final victory over the forces of tyranny and darkness that they had fought against for so long. This day back in 2009 was a day of celebration and excitement. We had won, our purpose was fulfilled and the road ahead was clear. We would head our separate ways.... Well, some of us would stick together, but we all would leave that which brought us all together, Vox Populi. We would not, however, leave without some final words of warning. Words that we hoped would be remembered long into the future. (You can read Doitzel's whole post here: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=58165 . Warning: He sure likes to talk) And so this day, 5 years later, we choose to remember and honor that victory and those words, so that we may continue to uphold those ideals we fought to keep. Please feel free to post your favorite Vox moments, or maybe a story of how Vox influenced you. Also, I am aware that this topic may be polarizing amongst some members, so I ask that you keep things civil. Rehashing 5 year old arguments will not likely change anyone's opinion after so long.
8. There is an issue with IE11 and copy/pasting as well as quoting. The fix from the Invision team is below, I had to type it in so if it is wrong, apologies. https://www.invisionpower.com/support/kb/_/ie11-copypaste-and-quote-issues-r58
9. It's hard to leave you know? Edit: This was supposed to be quoting Mogar, but IPB hates IE11 so yeah.
10. Also we are declaring war on ourselves. Just to be safe.
11. Where they're headed, even luck won't save them.
12. Unfortunately, yes. There just wasn't enough people left at the end to keep going, so I made the decision to merge us into the NADC, our longtime allies. Happy Belated Birthday NADC!
13. It's been fun, but sometimes you get to a point where something has to change. This is that point.
14. If CoJ continues to exist because it's only Schatt (or even worse, with others who believe in his ideals), and you refuse to give CoJ peace, then you are essentially condemning Schatt to Perma-ZI.
15. You of all people should know that Schatt will only disband if he chooses, and not through the force of an aggressor, no matter how powerful. It is always sad to see former friends fight, but it is sadder when one of our own no longer upholds the beliefs we fought so hard for.
16. May the actions of us few resonate with the many for years to come.
17.
Boo, I voted Chunky Monkey.
I can always count on you shantaman.
18.
Hello. Shurukian has been a great friend of mine and a fantastic leader for many years. I'm sad to see her step down, but excited to continue the course she has set for us with her leadership. The Sasori Initiative will no longer be as quiet as those who know us have come to expect. I promise you that. As my first act as Emperor, however, I would like to bestow upon Shurukian the title of Empress Dowager of the Sasori Initiative. She may no longer be in charge, and her activity will be sparse, but for all the time and effort she has put into the alliance, she deserves no less than to retain that advisory role. Secondly, I would like to announce the new government of the Sasori Initiative. Daimyo (Emperor): Lord Cyvole Shogun (MoD): Chunky Monkey Gaikou Daijin (MoFA): Trekwiz Eichi Daijin (MoIA): Shakyr Ikioi Daijin (MoR): Akurol Expect to hear more from us soon. For the last time, In the name of the Empress! Lord Cyvole Daimyo of the Sasori Initiative
"New". Except me of course. I'm like a bad case of the herp. Can't get rid of me.
19. They come back. They always come back.
20. I was going to post this but was unable to since I was at work all night. Just going to add my own little bit to this thread. I joined Vox Populi at what was probably my lowest point in my CN career. I was on several PZI lists, with no real chance at getting off of them (the reasons why were never really explained to me, I suspect I am just hated that much). It was at this point that I turned to a band of revolutionaries, fighting for freedom, not just for themselves, but for all nations of Bob. Free from the tyrannical rule of those who feared that the masses would eventually learn of the strings they used to control them. Free from the curbstomping jackboots of those who deemed us "unfit" for thier world order. Free from those who sought to remain in power at all costs. It was at this time that I realized that the situation I was in was not misfortune but opportunity. The opportunity to make a difference, to fight for what I believed to be true, to fight against the evils that corrupted the leaders of the ruling class. I took this opportunity and ran with it, doing as much as I could to further the cause of Vox. In my time in Vox I rose from a simple recruit, to a prominent member, to a two term senator. All this time my only goal, and our goal as a whole, was to show the world that they way things were was not the only way things could be. That things could be better, and that, no matter what, we would stand for that betterment, and that we would fight for it to our dying breaths. Even as our goals came closer to reality, as our own personal freedoms were realized, I knew that what we did was not enough, would never be enough, without people to listen to us and follow our lead. While some follow that lead today, most still do not, and things have shifted back towards what they once were. While I do not forsee a reformation of Vox Populi in the near future, I believe that some kind of changing force will be needed evetually to counteract these forces once again. I know that when that time comes I will join this force, and hopefully fulfill the initial vision of Vox Populi. Ave, Vox Populi!
21.
props to Chunky Monkey, he slipped in his most fashionable suit for this special occasion! As honorable Diplomat to TSI i can only congratulate the Enterprise of the Scorpions. Like your natural similitudes you have always managed to survive tough times, specifically dry periods of general inactivity and forum down-time. Where others reckoned disbandment, you got it back together! Infact, speaking from my expirience, The Sasori Iniative has a strong comradeship! As long as Shurukian doesnt run out of scorpion-themed cake pictures, i am certain that TSI will celebrate many anniversaries in the future.
Yeah I figured Id dress up for the picture.
