  4. “Sol, for you. From King Douglas,” said the Deputy Minister of Defense, Felipe Remigio, a graying man in his late 50s, who held out a piece of paper bearing an urgent message from Scotland. Sol looked up at her deputy and smiled, taking it. “Thank you, Felipe.” Felipe gritted his teeth and smiled back. “No problem…” He didn’t know why, but he always found being around Sol disconcerting. There was something always off about her. Even though she had no way acted out of what is considered “ordinary”, she had an air about here that seemed… threatening. She had always been calm and collected… and perhaps that was what alarmed him. Even in the face of madness, she continued to smile coolly… and just dealt with it. Glancing over at Sol, Felipe saw the message that Scotland had sent, and read it: Sol folded the message back over, concealing its contents once more, and Felipe peeled his eyes away. She looked up at him, “Scotland’s military is in full alert and ready to defend Spain.” He nodded, “Of course… we are so recently out of protectorate status and they’re sending in aid to—“ “Send word back to Scotland that we will not be needing the aid of its military at this time, thank King Douglas for taking such quick action, and send our apologies for such inconveniences. These are terrorists we are dealing with. They hide. Even sending in our military is unnecessary… because it’d have no target. This will have to be the job of intelligence agencies to seek them out. If we attempt to send an army after them, we’d just look like fools. They’ll get away laughing, taking other citizens’ lives with their bombs. No… I’d like to find them… and slowly crush every last one of them… or just make public examples of them so that nobody will be foolish enough to follow…” Felipe swallowed hard and then nodded. Yes… it was that spark of cruelty that Sol had that made him uneasy. “Alright then, Sol. I’ll contact the Intelligence Director immediately and send out your message to Scotland.”

  10. “…the four dirty bombs set off within Mérida appear to have been set off by Jewish extremists. We’re facing so far 54 deaths from the blasts, and 132 injured. The west wing of the Republican Palace has been completely incinerated by the blasts and so far we appear to have no survivors of those who were in the west wing. Vice President Amado Eurico was indeed one of those unfortunate enough to be trapped within the west wing when the blast went off…” Breixo stared at the television, his mouth agape. Most had not known of Breixo’s meeting with Portugal and Carthage in Gibraltar… thus it was most likely that the bomb that had been set off in the west wing was meant for him. He would be lying in a bloody pool with Amado. He ran to the phone in his room. The line was secure and he dialed for the only person he trusted. Sol. **** Sol sat alone in her office in the east wing of the Republican and smirked, amused. She wasn’t scared of the dirty bombs that had gone off in Merida. She knew that the traces of radiation in the dirty bombs were miniscule enough that they wouldn’t affect her health. Of course, everyone else around her had lost his or her head, and so she had acted the part of the pillar of strength and calm that everyone could rely on. She was smirking at the very moment because those terrorists were inadvertently doing what she had been intending to do all along. Of course… she would’ve picked quieter options… “accidents”… They were destroying the presidential chain of succession. Only six more individuals stood in her way of the presidency now. Five very hated ministers who could meet up with any type of accident… and one very naïve president who turned only to her for advice. Oh yes, she was close. She was shaken out of her thoughts by the phone. It was Breixo. “Yes?” she said calmly in to the phone. “Sol, what the **** is going on?!” Breixo’s voice screamed out of the receiver. “I assume that you turned on the television and saw what was going on, correct?” she smiled and shook her head. Breixo was too weak of a president to be able to handle a crisis like this. She would be doing Spain a favor. “This is not the time, Sol!” “Afons. Afons, please. I’ve gotten this taken care of. All of the bombsites have been evacuated, except for the palace. I’m getting that taken care of right now, which is why I’m here in my office. Now, what I need you to do is to do is keep your head screwed on and stay in Carthage. The terrorists obviously don’t know where you are, and your safety,” Sol paused, and smiled as she said this. “Is above all, the most important thing. The rest of the ministers and I will keep the situation under control. I’ve covered every square inch of Mérida with the army to maintain order and I’ve got the best on the case to find out more about the origin of the dirty bombs. For now, all we can do is to sweep airports and train stations for bombs, and make sure there is heightened security on most government buildings.” “Christ… Sol… I don’t know what I’d do without you,” his voice was calmed. “Your welcome, Afons,” she replied. Without me, you would live a long, fulfilled life, Breixo. Too bad you trust me too much "Calm down and get rest. Everything will be fine. I'll track down these ******** with everything I've got." Not until they kill a few "significant" others of course... ***** The Republic of Spain thanks The Haruhiist Empire for its support in these troubled times. Such friendliness will not be forgotten.
  11. Breixo adjusted the lapels of his Brioni once more as he approached the gates of the Gibralter House of Parliament. He had heard that Romano had dressed casually, and wondered if he had overdressed. Behind Breixo came Andrés, Breixo's bodyguard, a hulking, taciturn man with very Hispanic features. Breixo smoothed his dark brown hair once more. "You look fine, sir," said Andrés, with a hint of impatience. Breixo turned back and smiled at the bodyguard and nodded. "All right, let's get this done with, shall we?" With that, he walked forward and stepped into the Parliament building.
  12. The Republic of Spain is honored to be included in the Iberian Pact. May this friendship never end.
  13. President Breixo turned to his assistant. "Issue an official statement recognizing and congratulating the Dominion of Java." The assistant nodded his head, "Anything else sir?" Breixo thought a moment, and shrugged, "Send them an Artadi El Pison as a congratulatory gift."
  14. "Sir, a message from Alessandro Romano of the Kingdom of Carthage." President Breixo, sitting at his desk, raised his head to look at the presidential aide, who was holding a sealed envelope in his hand. When the aide saw he had the president's attention, he moved forward and handed the letter to the president. The president tore open the envelope and read its contents: A treaty with Portugal would certainly be favorable. The Kingdom of Carthage is not out of question either. Breixo thought. Of course, he would need Sol's swing with the ministers to get approval... He looked back up at the aide. "Send word to the Kingdom of Carthage that I will personally be attending. Get word to Emigdia and get the ministers to approve this." ----- A few moments later, the same aide returned to the president's office with a note.
  15. President Breixo listened to The Aether Empire's message and had a slight suspicion that the message was recorded... OOC: Haha thanks for the warm welcome .
  16. "On the behalf of President Breixo and The Republic of Spain, I would like to express the great gratitude that he feels for the many gifts and congratulations that have been sent," says The Republic of Spain's Minister of Defense Marisol Emigdia, who was unable to attend the inauguration ceremony due to illness, but has recovered enough to make a short public statement.
  17. Mérida, The Republic of Spain As President Afonso Breixo stepped up to the podium, the mass of people cheered. All of them screamed for him, ecstatic that years of oppression under foreign rule was finally gone; the iron fist released its death grip at last. A pair of dark brown eyes watched as the Supreme Judge approached Breixo. “Afonso Breixo, do you swear to fulfill the duties as the President of the Republic of Spain, and will, to the best of your ability, uphold and protect the Constitution of the Republic of Spain?” The president faced the crowd and slowly turned his head, and then lowered his head slightly. “I, Afonso Breixo, do swear to fulfill the duties as the President of the Republic of Spain, and will, to the best of my ability, uphold and protect the Constitution of the Republic of Spain.” The words barely left the man’s mouth before the day was filled with the screams, whoops, and hollers of the celebrating people. One day, perhaps they will cheer for me. Thought a dark-featured woman who was sitting on one knee, watching the entire ceremony through the scope of a sniper rifle. Hmm… President Breixo’s big speech… It is not your time to die yet, Breixo. She thought as she smiled and focused her rifle onto the ministers who sat behind the podium, watching the president. One was empty. It was her’s. Minister of Defense Marisol Emigdia had been unable to attend the ceremony due to a sudden illness. She would be “bedridden” for a week. Sol lowered the rifle. Nobody would die. Today was an auspicious day indeed.
