The young Queen was quoted saying " We always have been independant, I wouldnt surrender any of our rights, or agree to anything that infringes on our free will as a sovereign state. We will not freeze our bio and chemical weapon production. Whilst nuclear weapons have the potential to destroy all we know, biological and chemical weaponry does not. The stock of Britains bioweapons divison is open for the public to observe, and we are more than willing to provide external scientists etc etc, with the means to examine our stockpile. Whilst our nuclear arm is small, we have the power to destroy a nations agricultural industry, without ever harming the population, unlike conventional weapons do. Each nation, Geneva convention or not, will have its own rules of war, its own policies on treating spies, terrorists, prisoners of war and such. Basic human rights are also down to the home nation to decide, not an out spoken council of bigots and hypocrites who will bend the world to their will as they please. We do not need a convention, we do not need a "united nations" we need none of these things. As a world of civilised men and women, warcrimes are rarely commited, and when they are, it does not take the vote of a damn council to take out the regime that commited such atrocities. Their means are noble, and so are their goals. But Great Britain shall not be part of it. With the support of the federal government, the states of the Drakorian Confederation that bordered Great Britain began taking strongarmed stances against Britain. Transit from Great Britain into Drakoria and vice versa have been cut off, and all British nationals living in Drakoria have been deported. Governor Harry Frederick of Reichsgrad, the southwesternmost state, stated, "So long as Britain supports biological weaponry, we will not allow them to enter our borders. They could be a threat to the good people of Reichsgrad and Drakoria, whether in the hands of their government or terrorists. We take these measures to prevent a biological attack that may cause an outbreak that could sweep through the Drakorian populace like a wildfire." "With the threat of sanctions against Great Britain from the fledging United Nations, which would harm our way of life beyond measure, I had decided that the development of Biological and Chemical weapons will halt. However, the current stockpile of weaponry shall be maintained as a deterrent. As previously stated, they are Anti Agricultural weapons, not the sort of weapons such as Anthrax, Sarin and Cyanide etc etc. If Drakoria wishes to keep the borders closed, then so be it, our borders, airspace and coastal territory will remain closed to any and all Drakorian vessels, aeroplanes and citizens. Please keep merchant fleets informed as Bastillo shall not be held not responsible for any damages incurred. Additionally, unallied military vessels traversing Bastilla waters are required to file a course at least 1 week (7 days) in advance. [/quote] -1/1/89 -DCNN -Correction -The President reminded Great Britain that Drakoria is not part of, and shall never become, the UN. Nuskar has officially banned travel, trade, and otherwise stopped all actions with Lacedaemon. Nuskar claims that Ferum was heavily annoyed by Lacedaemon, and decided to end it. [/quote] OOC: I wonder why IC: The mines were laid when a threat of war loomed as such, their location was not publicly revealed. Since then however, the location of mine fields around Bastillo and any other threats to passage through Bastillan waters have been published every-other year in the Biannual Naval Hazards Update. The Presidente has refused to comment on the situation, as have her advisors, but sources inside the office claim that the prosecution will seek the death penalty for his crimes, not the least of which are extortion, acts of terrorism, conspiracy to commit murder, and murder. It is also rumored that he may have international funding, though the government consistently denies any knowledge of such information.
