Dozens of snipers were deployed, but were ordered to move their position after a few shots. TUO's own deployed bomb squads simply threw an explosive package onto a road or bridge, then a grenade to ignite the explosive, and run away.During all of those chaos, TUO units that were scattered all over the nation were beginning to reunite and resume their attacks' and movements' coordination when the masked leader set up his new HQ, underneath the giant metal processing plant that was being built in Detriot. Most of the Disparuean Forces' coordinators, officials and soldiers were beginning to facepalm. In fact, it was now a common sight throughout Disparuean bases and outposts in GLS. Did TUO really think that Disparu and New England were idiots and defenceless? Disparuean helicopters and other transport vehicles were well-defended, and had means of fighting back. The Disparueans shot back at anyone that tried to shoot them. Those that tried to plant bombs were immediately shot while they were at the open. The Disparueans gave the responsibility of neutralizing bombs to the New Englanders, hoping that their brethren had the technology to defuse them. ---------- TUO and it's leader would have a hard time coordinating attacks or moving anything in and out of the base, considering that the base was built in Detroit itself, which was still occupied and policed by the Allied forces. ---------- ***PRIVATE*** The evidence salvaged from the dig site had finally arrived in Disparu. The evidence was immediately analyzed, observed, recorded and photographed by teams of Disparuean scientists and other experts working for the Government of Disparu. Any information on the analysis was shared with the New Englanders, and other Government ministries and agencies that needed to be involved. Most of the documents retrieved were about how TUO spiked their soldiers or torture methods, since most medical documents had survived due to them being located at a lower level of the base. The flash drives and disks retrieved that still had bits and pieces of uncorrupted data gave some light on how TUO worked, including how they worked financially. There were some evidence that some of the funding was from major private corporations in the GLS. "New orders; I want the team to get banking and financial data from all major GLS businesses, both those that still exist and those that don't. Compare those with the data and evidence we have. I have a feeling that we'll get a lot of info about this horrible mess if we did that," said Minister of Defence Todd Snap. "But sir, wouldn't that possibly violate rights and laws in the GLS?" replied the Minister's aide. Todd chuckled. "You do realize that both Disparu and New England now control most of the GLS? We can do anything we want, GLS's disorganized government and military won't be able to do anything about it, as long as we have New England's permission. Send a message to them explaining our plan and ask if we can do it." Patterson was in his hotel room thinking. He had managed to hear about the digs at the former TUO headquarters, he knew the TUO weren't willing to let the Disparuans and the New Englanders discover the dark secrets of the TUO's operations. So he grabbed all his things, locked the door behind him, and walked down the hallway and entered the elevator bound for the lobby. When the elevator got down to the lobby, Patterson calmly walked out the front door and called for a taxi, and his answer was immediately responded. When a taxi stopped right in front of him, he opened the door and told the driver to go to the dig site. He didn't tell him specifically, for fear that he was a TUO operative. The driver obliged and several hours later, the taxi approached the site of the dig. "Stop", he told the driver, and he paid the driver and got out of the car. and watched as the taxi drove back towards New City. Looking around, he stepped into some bushes where he took off his trench coat, hat, sunglasses, and the clothes he had previously worn and put on his uniform, helmet, boots, and bullet proof vest. He quietly whipped out his weapons for this mission: M4A1, M1911, M40, M67 grenades, pocket knife, demo charges, and a can of fuel and a pack of lighters to burn the forests. He loaded and placed silencers on the weapons. And he got out his flashlight, flares, and night vision goggles, just in case. Once he was done, he quietly crept towards the digsite, keeping quiet so that the diggers won't suspect him to be a TUO spy. Finally, he got to a position where he could see the digsite, but they couldn't see him. The Disparueans already had enough of those TUO idiots that think that they can defeat or outsmart the Allied forces of Disparu and New England, so a network of heat sensors, carried by each Disparuean soldier to detect any warm-blooded creature approaching the area. Even before the taxi was visually seen by the Disparueans, their heat sensor network immediately alerted the network's admin that something big was approaching. "Vehicle approaching from southwest, check it out and report. Over," radioed the network's admin via encrypted channels. A pair of Disparuean soldiers began to head towards the taxi, close enough to see the driver. The taxi, designed for civilian use, was bright yellow and had it's lights blared on, was the opposite of something that can be considered "camouflaged". Fortunately, the taxi only had a driver as it's occupant, and he was immediately told to go back to wherever he came from. "Command, it was just an ordinary taxi with no one in it, I repeat-" said one of the Disparueans. "Private, I've detected movement and heat in the woods, call in more troops and check it out. Neutralize it with a tranquilizer if it's a human threat. Over," replied the admin. After calling in more troops, the Disparueans silently crept towards Patterson's hiding place. He was in a well-hidden place overlooking the site, but unfortunately he couldn't fool the Disparueans' technology. A camera mounted at the wall Patterson was facing constantly had it's lens focused towards Patterson's face. In front of Patterson was a table with a jug of water spiked with truth serum on it. On the far side of the room were three chairs, a Disparuean flag, and a photo of Lance Pikachurin mounted on a frame. After almost an hour of waiting, a door opened on the far side of the room. Two men wearing sunglasses, black suits and earpieces carrying briefcases entered the room and sat down. "Hello. I am John, an agent for the Disparuean Intelligence Agency or the DIA for short, and this is Bob, also an agent for the DIA. Here's our identification for proof." *slides two ID's towards Patterson* "Take your time in reading that, and have a glass of water. Anyways, first of all, who are you? Why are you here? Plus, some of them were damaged to the point where extracting the data would require sheer luck. The TUO's medical files had info about how they managed to turn even the people who wanted to kill the entire TUO into ultra loyal soldiers by mind altering, using large amount of drugs and propaganda videos. It had info about side effects, such as temporary confusion, vomiting, headaches, sleepiness, lack of balance, irritability, and etc. It also had suspected long term effects, such as greatly increased risk of brain cancer, liver cancer, leukemia, heart cancer, (OOC: Unheard of, but possible :OOC), infertility, Alzheimer's disease, extreme aggression, paranoia, loss of empathy, congestive heart failure, heart attack, stroke, blood clot, and much more, enough to make any doctors or government officials think twice before even suggest using the mind altering treatment on people. The financial files were interesting, since they showed that a chunk of the funding came from various businesses, domestic and foreign. Some of the money also came directly from the masked leader, but the files do not mention anything about where the leader got his funding from. The military files had many info about developments, and even plans on what to do after they take over GLS. The TUO planned on invading various weaker nations in North America, establish an extremely strong funding system, stockpile on cash, develop new technologies, enough to make TUO more technologically advanced than many other nations in the world, "recruit" more soldiers, build up military and WMP (Weapon of Mass Destruction), disable all of the nations' communication and electrical systems, and attack. TUO and it's leader would have a hard time coordinating attacks or moving anything in and out of the base, considering that the base was built in Detroit itself, which was still occupied and policed by the Allied forces. However, the base had its own ways of getting around the heighten security. IC: Even if TUO did acquire better rifles, the immense distance between the sniper and the helicopter, as well as the helicopter's speed, prevented TUO from actually making any major impacts to the recovery efforts. ---------- Indeed, the data was quite hard to obtain both physically and electronically, but the Disparueans managed to work around those. Abandoned banks and corporations were raided by Disparuean teams, where any working and stable computer servers and terminals were immediately confiscated and shipped back to Disparu, where a professional team of hackers working for the Government of Disparu was ready to tackle their mission. The hackers were even asked to hack through companies' computer systems without being detected, which was quite easy considering that GLS's computer systems had been weakened thanks to TUO's efforts. ---------- Even though the Allied forces had raised the security to an insane level and checked everything going in and out of the city, the messages managed to get through since the security forces weren't really expecting anything to be hidden in fuel tanks. They had enough of messing around. Although vastly outgunned and outnumbered, they might as well as go out with a bang while blowing some of the secrets to pieces. All of the TUO soldiers charged toward the dig site while artillery teams set up their artillery guns and opened fire, targeting the exposed bunker. Heat-seeking rocket launcher armed soldiers targeted their enemy's helicopters. ---------------------------- Meanwhile, at the dig site: As they dug deeper, the would soon run into blackened rubble, a sign that there was an explosion below. The industrial facility's size? Nearly one kilometer squared. The outside security, Disparu/New England soldiers, won't expect an underground TUO base being built underneath a massive industrial facility. How did TUO and ExIm Corporation managed to avoid attention? The construction material were being shipped in the same amount as if there wasn't a base being built under the facility. The 3rd floor was the first one to be completed so they can use submarines to transport construction material into the underground construction site. ---------------------------- Underground, the building plans: A total 29 floors are planned to be built. The floor levels go from the lowest to the highest number (standard way of labeling a below ground floor in the U.S.). Each five floors have their own utility room which contains decentralized air circulation, backup air circulation, and backup power generators systems. This results in the base having five separate air circulation system and a large utility room located on the various edges of the base on each five floors. The sewage and water systems are obviously centralized and connect to the above ground facility's water/sewage system, which connects to the city's water/sewage system. The sewage lines in the underground base have pumps to prevent back flowing. There is also an underwater port that will be built on the 3B floor, harboring submarines. 1B to 4B floor will be the vehicle construction, maintenance, and storage sections. An underground, tilted runway for aircraft and underground helicopter pads were to be built to allow aircraft leave the base when the attacks are ordered. Multiple vehicle entrance/exits were also being built. There will also be a missile launch pad section built into the 1B to 4B floors. 5B to 10B will be the sleeping/living quarters for the underground facility staff and military personal. 11B floor will be the office section. 12B floor will be the command/utility control/hacking and internet system defense section. 13B floor will be the medical section. 15B to 19B floor will be the medical experimenting section. 20B to 26B floor will be the equipment/vehicle development/testing section. 27B-33B floor will be the storage section. 28B floor will be the ammunition/weapons/equipment production section. 29B floor will be the main electrical generator and base's computer server room. There will be dozens of stairways and elevators since the underground base will cover almost the entire above ground industrial facility. There are also about 24 over sized elevator designed to transport large, heavy objects, such as vehicles, bulk of supplies, construction material, and large machinery parts. However, despite having a much stronger structural support and thicker bomb protection roof than the previous underground base, it can collapse if it's weakness is exploited. The TUO soldiers quickly set out to drill so many tunnels underneath roads that surround the digging site so that any vehicles that try to drive over the roads would result in the roads caving in. They started their drilling about 40 meters away from the roads.Plus, some other soldiers set out to set up the one shot remote triggered mortars all around the area, not just in one spot. If transport helicopters are spotted, then some of the mortars will fire. The rest are reserved to scare away helicopter pilots that try to fly over the forest again. If they aren't spotted in time, then New England/Disparu would have trouble moving machinery and supplies over land. Unfortunately for TUO, they forgot the science part of their operation. Perhaps now that the duck has finally lost its head, the entire body was now doing idiotic things. Even if they successfully managed to dig a tunnel, the tunnel itself would collapse without any support, injuring anyone within the tunnels. And besides, those drilling equipment weren't exactly quiet. Most TUO soldiers who tried to drill were immediately detained by the Disparuean and New Englander authorities.TUO's soldiers weren't really thinking. Unless if they could plant a bomb on every inch of the GLS, they will not be able to completely stop the flow of goods into the GLS. Sure, some transport helicopters and planes were shot down, but the Allied forces quickly became aware of rigged locations and altered their routes, while sending a bomb squad into the area. Indeed, the tunnels would collapse on their own accord. The TUO soldiers that attempted to drill were quickly apprehended by New Englander troops who had reached the area. Some of them were shot while resisting, but most of them were taken into military custody. The TUO might resort to desperate tactics, but they would never fully succeed into stopping the flow of goods that were surging into the GLS. Hundreds, if not thousands, of military trucks were crossing across the New Englander-GLS border daily, bringing in vast quantities of food, supplies, and equipment. And this included modern weapons that could be used to arm and support regular GLS forces. While regular troops provided covering fire, shooting at any TUO soldiers who fired at them, bomb squads crept forward and utilizing their vast knowledge and expertise, succeeded into disarming the bombs. In top-secret facilities in Boston and Philadelphia, New Englander scientists meticulously analyzed, catalogued, observed, and recorded the evidence. They received information from their Disparuean counterparts, thanking them as they were informed. The New Englanders also shared their information with their Disparuean brothers and allies. As the information of the discovery of the evidence, and their contents, reached the Department of Defense, SecDef Robert M. Gates sighed as he scanned over the telegram from Dr. Elliott Brown, the head of the Technological Institute of Massachusetts (TIM) detailing this. “Allright, according to this report, it seems that the TUO conducted horrific medical experiments on their victims. For what exactly, we don’t know yet, but we’re working on that.” He paused for a moment. “I want data, more data. Banking, financial, transactions, exchanges, whatever, I want them all. I have this feeling that the terrorists weren’t alone in this. It seems that they may have received funding from GLS corporations…and possibly ours too. I want everyone involved in this.” “Sir, what makes you certain our own corporations may have been funding the TUO?” An aide spoke up. Gates looked at him. “Well…I’m not certain. That’s what we intend to find out. But one thing for sure…if our own corporations, corporations that are on New Englander soil and are receiving funds from the government, are indeed involved in this…it won’t be pretty.” “But sir”, another aide spoke up. “Wouldn’t this violate the sovereignty of the GLS and its government? The GLS’s only beginning to rebuild itself and reasserting its sovereignty. Wouldn’t our actions only undermine that?” Gates sighed. “That isn’t an issue right now. At this moment, the only aspect holding the GLS together is our and Disparuean forces. Who cares about the GLS’s sovereignty? We are there to rebuild them, and we are going to follow up on that. They have to keep it or keep it. No, it wasn’t a typo. I really meant it, they can keep it or keep it. Simple as that. They don’t like it? Too bad for them, the true power lies with New England and Disparu.” At this point, a third aide entered the room and gave Gates a message. “Sir, a message just arrived. It’s from Disparu.” Gates took it and read it. It detailed Disparu’s plan and everything that was needed to know. “Allright, we’re on the same wavelength. Send them a message confirming our authorization and that everything’s a-go.” The Disparueans already had enough of those TUO idiots that think that they can defeat or outsmart the Allied forces of Disparu and New England, so a network of heat sensors, carried by each Disparuean soldier to detect any warm-blooded creature approaching the area. Even before the taxi was visually seen by the Disparueans, their heat sensor network immediately alerted the network's admin that something big was approaching. "Vehicle approaching from southwest, check it out and report. Over," radioed the network's admin via encrypted channels.A pair of Disparuean soldiers began to head towards the taxi, close enough to see the driver. The taxi, designed for civilian use, was bright yellow and had it's lights blared on, was the opposite of something that can be considered "camouflaged". Fortunately, the taxi only had a driver as it's occupant, and he was immediately told to go back to wherever he came from. "Command, it was just an ordinary taxi with no one in it, I repeat-" said one of the Disparueans. "Private, I've detected movement and heat in the woods, call in more troops and check it out. Neutralize it with a tranquilizer if it's a human threat. Over," replied the admin. After calling in more troops, the Disparueans silently crept towards Patterson's hiding place. He was in a well-hidden place overlooking the site, but unfortunately he couldn't fool the Disparueans' technology. After surrounding him, one of the Disparueans took out a tranquilizer, aimed, and shot... The New Englanders knew instantly that something was up. Their highly-advanced technology, assisted by UAVs, as well as heat sensor technology, told them that there was movement in the woods. They were going to do something about that, but they saw that the Disparueans had it covered and so they focused on other aspects. The bomb squads were being attacked constantly and had some escorts, nearby TUO snipers. The snipers that were ordered to shoot down the helicopters reported that their weapons were too weak to do much damages, resulting in many of them retreating a good seven miles before reaching their base and picking up their .50 caliber sniper rifles. Unfortunate for the TUO soldiers, the New Englander AH-1 Zulu attack helicopters were much heavily armored and could sustain much damage. The TUO would be hard-pressed to down even a single AH-1 Zulu with their current weaponry. There was a problem though, retrieving the data would be difficult. Many banks and corporations' data storage were securely locked, physically and electronically when the war begun. Plus, some of them were damaged to the point where extracting the data would require sheer luck.The TUO's medical files had info about how they managed to turn even the people who wanted to kill the entire TUO into ultra loyal soldiers by mind altering, using large amount of drugs and propaganda videos. It had info about side effects, such as temporary confusion, vomiting, headaches, sleepiness, lack of balance, irritability, and etc. It also had suspected long term effects, such as greatly increased risk of brain cancer, liver cancer, leukemia, heart cancer, (OOC: Unheard of, but possible :OOC), infertility, Alzheimer's disease, extreme aggression, paranoia, loss of empathy, congestive heart failure, heart attack, stroke, blood clot, and much more, enough to make any doctors or government officials think twice before even suggest using the mind altering treatment on people. The financial files were interesting, since they showed that a chunk of the funding came from various businesses, domestic and foreign. Some of the money also came directly from the masked leader, but the files do not mention anything about where the leader got his funding from. The military files had many info about developments, and even plans on what to do after they take over GLS. The TUO planned on invading various weaker nations in North America, establish an extremely strong funding system, stockpile on cash, develop new technologies, enough to make TUO more technologically advanced than many other nations in the world, "recruit" more soldiers, build up military and WMP (Weapon of Mass Destruction), disable all of the nations' communication and electrical systems, and attack. The New Englanders did have some difficulty in retrieving the data. But their vastly superior technology and expertise helped them to break through the retrieve the data. In series of raids on abandoned corporations and banks by New Englander troops, they seized everything of value they could find, such as computers, data files, servers, data storages, terminals, and even chips. In some banks and corporations, soldiers had to place detonation charges on safes and activate them (“I feel like a robber!” – random New Englander private) to access the assets. The seized materials were brought to New England under heavy guard, where scientists and specialists immediately went to work on them. The information was, of course, shared with the Disparueans. However, the base had its own ways of getting around the heighten security. It would never ship anything that would attract attention out of the facility, but it will send written messages well hidden in the transport trucks, sealed in liquid resistant packages that are rolled up and dropped inside the fuel tanks. Indeed. It was ironic that despite the heavy security in GLS and the thorough security checks, the New Englanders let the transport trucks go by, not suspecting of what was contained in the fuel tanks. Private message from Frank Swater to Disparu and New England:"I am receiving reports of heavy fighting occurring around the dig site, which concerns me. What have you dug up so far?" CLASSIFIED RESPONSE TO FRANK SWATER CC: DISPARU We have found various evidences pertaining to the TUO’s plans for GLS as well the treatment of the people they once ruled. The TUO, of course, tried to stop us from getting this information, without success. Our scientists are working on deciphering the evidence right now. We’ll keep you updated. They had enough of messing around. Although vastly outgunned and outnumbered, they might as well as go out with a bang while blowing some of the secrets to pieces. All of the TUO soldiers charged toward the dig site while artillery teams set up their artillery guns and opened fire, targeting the exposed bunker. Heat-seeking rocket launcher armed soldiers targeted their enemy's helicopters. Any TUO soldier who charged toward the dig site immediately met a hail of gunfire. As diggers rushed for safety and cover, New Englander troops immediately got into position and fired at the TUO soldiers. They also brought their trusty artillery guns into position and unleashed their anger and rage. Hails of artillery shells were hurled into the air toward the enemy. In the air, skilled pilots managed to evade the heat-seeking rocket missiles, though one AH-Zulu helicopter was shot down (the pilot ejected out, though). Reply:"What were the medical data about?" As the fighting continued, the Disparu/New England soldiers would notice the amount of TUO soldiers charging at them rapidly decreased, eventually none. TUO's military was finished, all of their units closest to the dig site were depleted and the other units farther away had no idea what was going on. OOC: I am going to fast forward on reconstruction, since the only attacks from TUO are occasional sniper attacks. Plus, GLS is nearly fully repaired. I'm with the OSWS, a Cascadian Agency established during the Battle of Eatonville to combat the overwhelming military power of the Peoples Cascadian Army. The OSWS is tasked with infiltrating enemy lines, and weaken the enemy's capability to wage war and gather military intelligence, a task similar to the WWII era OSS, Office of Strategic Services, an agency made famous through the popular 'Medal of Honor' video game series. I was sent by my boss, Colonel William Hargrove, who is second in command of the OSWS. I was assigned to gather Intel on the Masked Leader, assassinate him, and hamper the TUO's military capability. Cascade is a small democracy located in what was once known as the state of Washington. Cascade has recently sent Special Forces and humanitarian aid to GLS, provided they stay away from the major cities. Oh, I'm also from Elbe." I only know the same you know about them: that they intended to take over GLS, and tried to persuade Disparu and New England by massacring civilians. The Capital of Disparu is Jubilife." The rest of the citizens within the legal workforce age can not work due to long term injuries, such as amputated legs due to infection during the war and mental illness caused by TUO's barbaric medical experimenting. They are also offering a temporary deal for legal immigrants. Each legal immigrant that settles in GLS, they will receive "start up" bonus of $30,000. New England and Disparu soldiers will still be in GLS until it has a functioning military. Monthly reports of attacks launched by TUO guerrillas have dropped nearly to zero, and the only attacks, sniping, launched were targeted at New England/Disparu soldiers. He felt his head, where a bit of a sharp pain was bugging him. All he could remember was that he was near the digsite and was tranquilized by Disparuan troops, that's all he knew.
