GLS National News:

It has been about five months since the beginning of the war against an unknown terrorist force. Since we do not know their name, we will call the war, the Unknown War. A brief summery of the war is show below:

1. All communication and defense systems were suddenly disabled by an unknown source.

2. Unknown hostile soldiers invaded New City, location was unknown. Hostile jet bombers attacked all of the cities in GLS.

3. All over GLS, the same hostile soldiers emerged from unknown locations, we suspect they emerged from their underground bases.

4. Disorganized, lacking communication of any kind, and without the help of anti-air and missile towers, the GLS military fought against the smaller yet more technology advanced enemy forces who had a large air force unlike the GLS military (they didn't even have a single airplane in the military). Meanwhile, the hostiles emptied all civilian settlements and enslaved captured civilians by forcing them to work in makeshift work camps.

5. Civilians attempt to seek refugee in Disparu and New England by fleeing the fighting. Many of the airplanes the civilians were using were shot down and many others who fled by foot were carpet bombed by the unknown hostile airplanes. The GLS military have been fractured and the only two remaining units are either in Mackinaw City or Detriot.

6. Repeat bombing raids on fleeing civilians attracted attention from Disparu and New England, which shortly afterward, they responded by sending in their air force, marking the beginning of their co-op anti-rogue warfare.

7. Disparu and New England invades shortly after the unknown hostiles attempted to carpet bomb civilians with napalm, close to the GLS-Disparu border. Unknown hostile force fights back using the meat shield tactic, which they formed a wall of living civilians as a barrier between the New England and Disparu forces and them. They also deployed automated bomb trucks, some of them loaded with explosives, others with civilians and explosives to create gore showers.

8. The unknown hostile air force attempt to hold back the Disparu and New England air force but retreated back to their underground bases after being defeated. Hostile ground forces in the eastern part of GLS also retreated back into their underground bases while the work camps were still being operated.

9. Disparu and New England sends special operation teams to New City to free the GLS government members, but most of the government members were already slaughtered and dumped inside the GLS Legislative Building when the unknown hostiles captured the city.

10. The unknown hostile force makes a failed attempt to disable all of New England's and Disparu's systems (power, defense, communication, etc) that are connected to the internet via remote hacking and virus flooding.

11. Unknown hostiles attempt to attack invading New England and Disparu forces using ground and air forces. Ground forces used meat shield tactics. They also used a close range combat tactic (for their steroid spiked soldiers), which involves using automatic shotguns and melee weapons.

12. Unknown hostiles' air force is extinct from the New England and Disparu vastly larger air forces and most of their ground forces had been killed.

13. Anti-rogue operation forces occupy half of GLS without much resistance, but encounters many crudely fortified towns built and maintained by super paranoid civilians, work camps, and massive grave pits close to the camps. Many of the civilians died in the camps due to malnutrition or torture.

14. Anti-rogue operation forces encounter fierce resistance in Detriot and Disparu's special operation group was completely devastated by the unknown hostiles when they were tricked into thinking the hostile soldiers were GLS soldiers. The remains of the unknown hostile force pretended to be GLS military forces by making their uniforms, equipments, and vehicles similar to the GLS military.

15. Anti-rogue operation forces encounter a super armored tank stolen from the GLS military being controlled by hostile tank operators and defeats it. We do not know where did the super tank go after it was defeated.

16. Anti-rogue operation forces advance after finding the tattered GLS soldiers (which were hiding in their bunkers). Disparu forces find a suspected enemy underground base and carpet bombs it. The base partially collapses and the enemy soldiers attempt to flee using emergency escape tunnels. The forest the enemies were fleeing through was completely burnt from Disparu's carpet bombing, along with the enemy soldiers.

17. Anti-rogue operation forces occupy New City with little resistance but encounters another super armored tank at the GLS Civil War memorial but it traps itself in the outside, massive glass floors and was defeated.

18. GLS is completely occupied by New England and Disparu forces. Occasional fighting with the hostile force's guerrilla soldiers is still occurring. Reconstruction begins.

Nearly 3 million civilians were enslaved during the Unknown War, including the 500 thousand civilians buried or partially buried in mass grave pits that died from the cruel enslavement. The estimate for the amount of civilians killed while fleeing has not been completed, but so far, over 3 million civilians were found dead outside of the mass grave pits. Nearly six million civilians were displaced and forced to take refugee in New England and Disparu. An estimate of the damages done by the war has not been completed yet.

Videos broadcasted from the unknown hostile force have also been found:

All of the Great Lakes State's TV broadcasting satellites was activated after being shut down by TUO's hacking. They then beamed TV signals from the TUO's HQ toward New England and Disparu:

A mysterious masked person sat in front of his desk, facing the camera. He then begin to speak:

"Hello everyone. I am sure you were alerted by the amount of people fleeing toward your nation. I planned on keeping this war quiet, not allowing anyone outside of Great Lakes State know what is going on. But no, bunches of mouth rattling refugees just HAD to flee toward your nation and rant what was going on after I knocked their pansy government and their even more pansy military down.

Since my silent war against Great Lakes State has been exposed, I'd like to play a game with you. Each time you attack my military force, you WILL kill innocent people. I have just ordered civilians to be strapped to anti-air towers and other structures vulnerable to air and missiles strikes, babies to be strapped to my soldiers as meat shields, children to be strapped to all over my vehicles, and people loaded into some of the driverless bomb trucks.

You want to overwhelm my military force and free Great Lakes State from my hands, I will pull out the dirtiest military tactic in book without hesitation and the tactic is being played right now.

You have been warned..."

Video feed ends and all of the GLS TV satellites were disabled again

Meanwhile, another video was broadcasted from TUO, this time, throughout the world from the temporarily reactivated GLS TV satellites:

In the scene, an building made out of cardboard and other random scraps with people being forced to into it at gunpoint. The same masked man from the previous video was seen standing in front of the camera.

"You wanna play, huh? You really wanted to play? Fine, I decided to spice up the game a bit more. Behind me is an building, no ordinary one, you are going to see something, very, very disturbing that is enough to label this as an " above adult" video.

Anyways, each day you continue to attack me, I will kill 5,000 civilians with lots of C-4, including children and babies. Mmm, gore showers."

The last of the people were forced into the building and the door was slammed closed.

"Ooh yah!"

The masked man then proceeded to pull out a detonator with a red button on it and just before he managed to press on it, a high ranking officer tackled the masked man while screaming, "I do not kill children and will not allow that to happen! I quit my job!"

"Aw screw you, you're fired." the masked man replied as he shoves the officer off of him into the mud. "And by that means, you are really fired." the masked man added in as suddenly, an incendiary grenade was thrown at the high ranking officer.

As the officer screamed to death, the masked man pressed the ignite button on the detonator still in his hand and the building exploded into a shower of red gore and flesh.

"And where is my god(insert inappropriate word) umbrella you dips!? WHERE IS MY UMBRELLA?!?!" the masked man yelled just as the shower of gore landed everywhere, including on the camera.

Refugees are moving back into Great Lakes State and to quickly reestablish order, surviving local government members are planning on gathering in New City to launch an emergency election to elect a president and several other federal cabinet members.

After some debate, the National Assembly approved the passage of the GLS Reconstruction Act. Signed into law by President Johnson the same day, the law mandated funding to flow into the GLS as well as food, supplies, and equipment. Tens of thousands of aid workers (especially White Cross workers), volunteers, and construction workers in northern New England were drafted into a national service program; they were to be sent to the GLS under heavy military guard. President Johnson also authorized, ironically, the establishment of a National Disaster Relief Agency to provide relief and alleviate poverty and deprivation not only for New England but also the GLS as well neighboring nations that needs it.

The GLS-New Englander border at Ohio and New York State were opened as armored trucks carrying supplies and equipment streamed into the GLS. They were to be dispersed across the GLS, beginning in Detroit and New City. To provide relief to the remaining GLS population, the White Cross workers were authorized to establish soup kitchens and ‘feeding houses’, where aid workers and volunteers would help feed the population. Millions of funding flowed into the GLS, where they were to be used to rebuild the devastated GLS cities, as well provide accommodation, relief, food, along with others to the GLS population. They were also to be used to reactivate the GLS economy and place the GLS on a stable footing, both economically and politically. The cost was estimated to run in the billions, but it would be worth it in the long term.

Following the passage of the GLS Reconstruction Act in the National Assembly, hundreds of armored trucks steamed across the New Englander-GLS border through the cities of Toledo and Niagara Falls. Carrying food, supplies, and equipment, the trucks were escorted under heavy military guard to their destination: the major cities across the GLS. In Detroit, Lansing, Mississauga, Toronto, Grand Rapids, Marquette, Kingston, and Ann Arbor, soup kitchens and temporary accomodations were established by White Cross and other aid workers to help feed and house the remaining GLS population. Despite the reduction of the New Englander forces in the GLS by half, there was still a heavy military presence everywhere; heavily-armed and heavily-armored New Englander soldiers were seen on most city blocks, maintaining peace, law, and order. Thus, the risks of guerrilla attacks against the aid workers or the GLS population was minimal.

While food and supplies were handed out and distributed in the major cities, New Englander soldiers scoured the countryside, looking for any hidden traps and mines. They managed to disable the mines and traps, with varying success: dozens of soldiers were killed or wounded when they accidentially stepped on mines or traps, or were ambushed by guerrillas. But for the most part, they were successful. Their superior firepower and prowess would keep the guerrillas at bay.

All GLS refugees in Disparu were given a choice; they can go back to GLS and rebuild or they can stay in Disparu as permanent residents, eventually becoming full Disparuean citizens when they meet all requirements of citizenship. However, they may not change their decision once they chose their future.

Those that chose to go back were put into buses escorted by the Disparuean Forces, just in case TUO had any tricks up their sleeves. Those buses were also accompanied by several teams of Disparuean medical staff, volunteers and construction workers. The Disparueans helped the New Englanders with their effort to help those in need in major cities. Doctors treated the wounded, rations were distributed to everyone and construction workers built temporary shelters.

The Disparueans also helped to get rid of any existing TUO forces and disarming any traps laid by TUO.

"So, we have three candidates to pick for the president position." one of the local governors said as he turned on the projector:

1. Mark Stew:

He believes that Great Lakes State should greatly boost its military and spy strength to avoid another critical situation that lead to the destruction of GLS. He also plans on shutting down all social programs, such as the national health program and unemployment benefits to cut government expenses.

2. Abby Grant:

She wants to stimulate Great Lakes State's economy after the reconstruction is completed by lowering taxes but sees no need for a makeover for the military. She also plans on upgrading the transportation system, larger and faster than the system pre-war.

3. Frank Swater:

He wants to stimulate the economy after reconstruction by lowering taxes and rebuilding a faster and larger transportation system. He also wants to encourage the public's use of solar panels, recycling, and cutting down fuel usage. He plans on increasing funding for education, health care, and building a small air force if there is money available.

The projector's fan rattled as the local governors stared at the projected screen which displayed the info about the three candidates, including their education, previous political experiences, and etc.

"I'd say Mark Stew would be the best candidate. Besides, even before all this crap happened, Great Lakes State had one of the smallest, and the weakest military force in North America." said Gran, one of the local governors.

"And throw away ALL of the welfare programs while mass spending on the military when it should be used for our citizens?!" Holder

"No need to yell here. Remember, one at a time." the group leader ordered, Robin.

"Frank Swater is what we need. Economic, public programs, healthcare boost and improving the environment. The small air force would be a nice bonus to our military too." Shawster stood up and said.

"Yeah, a small air force is going to help when we get invaded by our neighbors who are holding a vastly larger military or those silly unknown terrorists come back with a larger military force to roll us." Gran replied.

"And besides, who gives a -bleep- about the environment?" John, a local governor that doesn't care about the environment.

"Wanna see ALL of the trees in the nation die and your house get eroded from acidic rain? Fine with me." Shawster replied.

"Well look what happened now, Mrs. Environment lover! The freaking terrorists ripped up our forests and our neighbors bombed the rest of the forests to near extinction!" Gran shouted after Shawster was finished.

"I am not a female, and if I had a remote control here, I would mute you for good by pressing, "mute"." Shawster replied.

"Lets just vote, shall we? This discussion is turning into a flame and flame baiting war." Robin ordered while facepalming, not expecting the discussion to turn ugly fast.

GLS National News:

Local state governors that had survived the terrorists' enslavement and slaughtering had gathered in GLS Civil War memorial for an emergency election. So far, they have elected Frank Swater for president but they do plan on moving their gathering place for the next elections to avoid being attacked by the guerrillas.

Here is the information about what Frank Swater plans on accomplishing during and after the reconstruction while in office:

-Restore the economy and boost it with reduced taxes.

-Promote the use of renewable energy, such as giving tax breaks to building/property owners who install a minimum amount of solar panels.

-Replace the current traditional rail system with a newer version, magnetic rail system when there is funding for it.

-Promote cities to use or expand their mass transit systems such as covering some of the building costs for expansion or updating.

-Increase funding for education and health care and set up a new accounting government agency to check for any misuse of funds in other government departments and agencies.

-Increase funding for military technology development.

-Setup the nation's first military air force if there is surplus for it.

A ski masked person, seemly the same one in the last two videos was sitting in a desk facing the camera with a shotgun lying on the desk.

So you think you defeated my military force, The United Organization? Oh sure, you might be fighting some guerrilla fighters that are still loyal to me after the rest of my military went extinct, but you haven't caught me yet. The Great Lakes State government was heavily corrupted by criminals and deserved to be slaughtered. About the work camps? They were temporary and the reason why the civilians died was because of YOUR lope sided invasion, cutting off my food supply routes. I planned on freeing the enslaved civilians once when I have accomplished all of my goals. I have ways of turning even the people who will do whatever they can to kill me, including nuke carpet bombing, into ultra loyal people that will never question my orders.

If you really want get rid of the "cancer" in Great Lakes State, catch me if you can. To be nice, I will give you a head start of a few years or so before I come back with revenge and kick your -bleep- really hard. Also, I am concerned with that TUO video. Unless if we can somehow find that jerk, he or she might strike back in the future. The main reason why I am so paranoid with the TUO is their ability to bounce back right after being crushed. They were crushed by the police, intelligence agency, and their criminal rivals, but managed to grow and develop to the point where they can launch a full scale military attack within less than a decade.

The Disparuean Minister of Defence, Terry Palkia, has notified me that all Disparuean troops within the GLS have been notified to stay vigilant and keep a lookout for the masked man. Even if TUO does strike back, the Disparuean Forces will be ready to take care of them.

Speaking of defence, as soon as a proper and stable government has been established in the GLS, would you be interested in signing a MDP/NAP with Disparu?

I'd seriously doubt the masked man would walk around with his mask. He is most likely hiding or pretending to be one of the civilians. Given the military force he used, he might be an extremely rich person or was backed up by another person or group(s). I am not sure about the MPD/NAP, give me some time to think about it.

Somewhere close to the former TUO HQ, 11:00 PM:

A lone masked figure was walking around in the burnt forest during the dark with black clothing, backpack, night goggle, deactivated flashlight, and an assault rifle. "The emergency escape tunnel exit must be somewhere around here..." he mumbled. Suddenly, the charred chunk of wood beneath him gave away and he rolled for a short distance on a burnt concrete ramp.

"This is it! There better not be looters around here, otherwise I will shot them to -bleep-!" he thought to himself as he got up and quickly yet quietly walked down the ramp to the underground bunker that partially collapsed from Disparu's carpet bombing during the war.

After several minutes of walking, he finally reached the other end of the tunnel and entered the massive utility room that was filled with a faint scent of fume from the fuel that were slowly leaking from the shattered fuel pipes. He walked up the stairs while turning on his flashlight and turning off his night goggles. He reached the administrative office floor, where his office and his bedroom was located. However, the entire area was covered with rubble and buckled support beams that torn through the wall and partially blocked the hallway. "Next time, I am going to build an underground base that is much deeper, more shielding on the top part, and more support beams." the masked man promised himself as he stopped in front of his office door.

He pushed it, but the door refused to open. With a mighty punch, the door blew open and the door framing collapsed, turning a doorway into a hole in the wall. He entered the room and through the partially opened steel door that led to his living quarters.

"Now where is that safe?" he asked himself as he quickly looked around the wreaked living quarter with buckled support beams blocking part of the rooms and walked around, looking for the bedroom. After finding and entering the bedroom, he popped open the full size mirror that hung on the wall and a steel safe with five combination locks on it was exposed.

He quickly cracked the combo and opened the safe, exposing a room filled with shelves that had trays after trays of diamond. "Fill the backpack, load it in my truck, and repeat until I have filled all four backpacks. After storing them somewhere else safe, then repeat until all of my diamond in this room is empty. After all of that has been finished, then I will leave this -bleep- land by flying out of here with my diamond by using my private airplane. Easy." He mumbled to himself as he set to work...

Until we are sure that most of the civilians that have choose to move back into GLS have access to voting, there won't be any elections other than emergency elections that are only meant for the Executive and the cabinet members (OOC: Very similar to U.S.'s Executive branch. Executive is for high ranking officials and the cabinet members are mostly advisers:OOC).

Hm...that's a tricky situation here. We'll have to contend with the situation that the GLS is facing right now in regards to government. It'll take a while, as you have stated, but it will be worth it in the long term. A stable GLS is what we desire for on the North American continent. But I'd suggest that the current government remain in power until qualified officials can be properly elected into the government.

It has been several weeks since the first of the repair and cleanup teams have arrived. Large parts of the highway system is still ruined, but the other parts are under rapid repair. The temporary GLS government have decided to dig into their cash reserves to speed up the recovery by hiring unemployed citizens to help out with the cleanup and repairs. The temporary government illegally passed a reconstruction bill without the Legislative approval. Frank Swater said, "In desperate situations, you need to take desperate actions, not sitting on your hands and waiting. Although I know that act was unconstitutional, I believe there should have been exceptions to allow the government to pass laws if he Legislative can't respond for a year or two."

The reconstruction act's priorities of what to cleanup and repair first:

The total cost for the reconstruction bill is a staggering $30 billion. We are not sure where is the government is going to find the other 29.9 billion dollars to fund it's reconstruction.
