Uberstein
Candidate: Anita Pesonen Member of the Republican-Ubersteinist Party and current prime minister. Candidate: Jorma Sovinto His economic believes are clearly known to be communist. He has voiced his opposition to war, and is a complete pacifist. He also claims that if elected, the fortunes of all business owners will be broken up and shared equally among all employees. Candidate: Vilho Gustafsson A strong supporter of "The 3rd Way", he proposes raised military budget and a stronger police force. National security is high on his list of priorities and the main support of his platform. Candidate: Frans FrösénNo Picture Available Their entire platform consists of the phrase, "We don't have a Monarch, but wouldn't life be interesting if we did?" All are taking questions. Uberstein
"Simple question to the candidates, they may elaborate more if they wish. The Dragon Empire.. threat or friend?" DENN anchor Jon Costnik would ask. Anita Pesonen: "The Dragon Empire tends to infringe on European affairs, but besides that, I have no problem with them. With the war in Europe over, I'm sure the Republic of Mariehamm can start diplomatic relations with Asian and Oceanic nations." Jorma Sovinto: "The last I heard, you were a capitalist. How can you justify oppressing your people with such policies? The Dragon EMPIRE is just another imperialist nation who wants the world in their control." Vilho Gustafsson: "The Dragon Empire is a menace to Europa. We cannot allow these foreign nations to dictate our policies, and they should keep their hands to themselves." Frans Frösén: "I read in a tabloid that your leader is a giant lizard, I had a pet lizard once, the vet said it died of constipation." "To all candidates, I have two questions. What are your views on the possibility for Norwegian Reunification, and what are your views on the CEU?" Anita Pesonen: "Norwegian Unification is something I have supported since day one. We need to bring these cultures together, not split them down the middle like the situation in Italy. As for the CEU, I believe my stance is clear, seeing how I signed the treaty." Jorma Sovinto: "Imperialist aggression, that's the term I would use for both of them. Nationalistic and anti-globalization policies are going to turn Europe into a capitalist hellhole." Vilho Gustafsson: "I fully support and applaud the Norwegian Reunification. We need more strong leaders who are willing to take what is rightfully theirs, to bring their people to safety. The Central European Union has yet to prove that it can enforce it's rules, seeing how nations like Bavaria are openly defying things like the anti-mercenary amendment." Frans Frösén: "I heard that Norway used to have a king. If you aren't using him now, mind if we have him?" OOC: Woo, writing completely different viewpoints is fun. Maelstrom Vortex
The press reporter thought, "Well, the Empire will know which candidate it likes." He chuckled faintly and stated, "I'm glad to see at least one of the leaders here perceives my homeland as a possible friend. To those of you who have stated you view the Empire as imperialist oppressors. Can you name one instance outside of the Indochina instance where the Empire has acted to military expand its influence beyond its current states domestic borders that grounds your statements in fact? If they are oppressors, why are they not out to halt the demonstrations on the streets of their homelands that are occurring currently." Jorma Sovinto: "The very fact that you are capitalists makes you oppressors." What will your foreign policy towards the Tahoe Republic be and how to do intend to carry that out? Anita Pesonen: "The Republic of Mariehamm has tried to stay out of American affairs, and I doubt that is going to change.' Jorma Sovinto: "Complete diplomatic and economic embargo. The Tahoe Republic is just another capitalist pigsty." Vilho Gustafsson: "Europe is my main concern, but once things are settled here I'm sure that we can aid Tahoe in creating a better North America." Frans Frösén: "...who?" The alliance endorses Jorma Sovinto. A question to him. What reforms do you intend to push as part of your domestic policy. And what changes do you want to push in Europe as part of your regional foreign policy? Anita Pesonen: "I will continue the policies that are currently in place, as for Europe, I'm attempting to help keep it democratic and culturally diverse. I also plan to make sure the trials happen, for some reason they have been delayed." Jorma Sovinto: "I thank you for your support. If elected, I will push for a completely communist Europe and Republic of Mariehamm. War must become a thing of the past, and equality will finally be known." Vilho Gustafsson: "Security, that is the word I would use to describe my goals. We cannot allow any Nordlandic influences to rise again, we cannot allow Europe to collapse. We need security for the good of Europe." Frans Frösén: "To be frank, I just want to be king. Get a shiny crown, maybe a nice chair." "We see that at no point does any candidate address educational policies. What, if anything, do you plan on doing to improve the quality of education in your nation, particularly early education?" Anita Pesonen: "One of the major reforms under my administration was the introduction of a public education system. I plan to continue to work at making this system more efficient. Higher education, like universities and collage, will remain in the hands of the free market, and private schools are always available." Jorma Sovinto: "All schools will be replaced with state-sponsored trade union learning centers, where you learn how to be a member of the working class, not one of these elitist intellectuals." Vilho Gustafsson: "State sponsored educational programs, that is my only comment." Frans Frösén: "The system seems to work so far, but I'm sure a few pledges to the Monarchy would be nice."
