The Coral AccordsPreamble THE Cardboard Flotilla was sailing the Indian Ocean one day, oblivious to the dangers of the deep, when a mighty storm whipped up around them. Durable cardboard be damned, this storm was too immense for even the most experienced box to safely navigate. The entire fleet was sent miles off course, and of those dark hours, little is known. The following morning, the box crews awoke to find they had been blown to the shores of a strange island, where they had run aground upon a coral reef. Looking into the water, they were taken aback, as the corals upon which they were caught had the appearance of a human brain! Boxes are sociable beings, and soon, a friendship was born between box and brain. As the fleet prepared to set sail, one of the corals jumped from the depths and spoke to the boxes. "Hey, we should sign a treaty", he said. Article I - On the subject of Sovereignty NEITHER box nor brain shall seek to infringe the sovereignty of their counterpart, nor shall they deny their counterpart's right to exercise control over their own territory. Article II - On the subject of Camaraderie THE signatories understand and agree that no Brain can traverse the oceans without a Seaworthy Cardboard Box to take it; Similarly, that no Box could ever hope to stay afloat without the cerebral functions provided by a Brain. To that end, the signatories agree to respect the spirit of this treaty, to resolve any differences diplomatically, and to remain civil to, and trustful of, the countersigned, at all times. Article III - On the subject of Peace and Intelligence THE signatories agree that they shall neither openly bludgeon the countersigned over the head in an effort to decrease brain function, nor shall they attempt to reduce the buoyancy of the countersigned through any other means, including but not limited to diplomacy or espionage. Should either signatory come into the possession of any intelligence that might be of relevance to the countersigned, they are obligated to inform the countersigned as soon as is possible. Article IV - On the subject of Financial Assistance WITH a global recession driving quality Brains into menial industries, and leaving cargo transport contracts thin on the ground for Cardboard Boxes, the signatories understand that at times, it may be necessary to ask for assistance from the countersigned. With Article II in mind, the signatories agree that any reasonable request for financial assistance shall be agreed to and executed in a timely fashion. Article V - On the subject of Martial Collaboration FROM the Tumor to the Great White, the signatories understand that there are always dangers in the world. Should the worst happen, and a signatory find itself under attack, the signatory may request military assistance from the countersigned. The countersigned shall acquiesce to any such request within 24 hours. Should the attack be due to treaty obligations external to this agreement, the countersigned shall have the ability to deny the request without being in violation of this agreement. Article VI - On the subject of the Senate IN an effort to achieve recognition and security for both Box and Brain, the signatories agree to work together to elect a Senator to the Maroon Team Senate. The representative of the two signatories shall be chosen through mutual agreement; this representative may be changed at the beginning of any Senate term. The signatories further agree that, should their representative achieve a Senatorial position, that he should treat that position with the respect and integrity expected from these upstanding signatories. Article VII - Amendments SHOULD either signatory wish to alter any part of this text, the alteration may take place immediately after the countersigned has assented to it. Article VIII - Cancellation SHOULD either signatory wish to remove itself from the bind of this treaty, notification should be given in private to the countersigned. No less than 1 week after notification has been given, the terms of this treaty may be considered to be no longer in effect.
