Start getting your trade slots filled, and begin exploring tech trading to give yourself the income necessary to get your nation off to a good start. My advice is to do a lot of reading around these forums (gameplay discussions for gameplay related info - you can use the search function to try to find any specific answers, and the OWF for politics related stuff) as you can learn a lot that way.
