Your nation needs to be optimized first, before collecting. I know, being in the first day of the game can be full of anticipation. I myself have made the mistake of collecting on the first day, with my first nation. If you collect on the first day without optimizing, you miss out on profits that you will never regain, they are gone forever. In the GPA, we strive to squeeze out every possible penny from the game.
