Andorra Revolution

Mirabelle smiled as she sat Elene down in the Commodore's chair. "You would be surprised ma petite of what France is able to do for your potential revolution. For one, all the countries of South America do not scare us, we have allies ourselves and the preservation of Vicidalia's freedom, our fellow French brothers and sisters will always be the mother country's highest priority. That said, rumors have it that France will be acquiring a Caribbean base in the future and it will be much easier at that point to aid in your revolution. So you need not worry. You're going to help us save your country. But for now," the Commissar said caressing her cheek. "You need to rest."

"Monsieur Demane?"

"Aye, Ma'am?"

"Take la Mademoiselle below deck and make up a room for her in my private quarters. See to it that she's fed and well kept. Hopefully this battle will be over soon and we can make our way to Paris."

"Of course Ma'am," said the sailor and he took Elene's hand leading her below deck.

Jesse called Damion using his satellite phone from the castle. The Andorrans were losing the battle and if they could not get out of the city everyone would be destroyed by Simone’s army. “Damion there is nothing else you can do. You need to get as many people out of Andorra as possible by any means necessary. There is no point in staying there anymore.”

“I know that Jesse but unless we can break through their military lines we are doomed and will die here.” The sound of gunfire could be heard nearby. “They have broken through to the castle courtyard Jesse, this is our final stand. Should I die here I will die with honor fighting our enemies till my final breath.” He loads his Assault Rifle. “It is up to you guys now. Find Paul and the Empress and stop Simone from completing her plans to destroy the Andorran people and their culture. Goodbye Jesse.”

The Revolutionary Army wasted no time in surrounding the castle as tanks laid waste to the high stone walls bringing down ages upon ages of history to the ground. According to the Chairwoman, "History could be rebuilt and in Perpignan, every piece of rubble will be a reminder to the suffering the last White Oppressors caused for France and her people." With a screech and blast of the armor divisions, the walls came down and hordes of Red soldiers stormed into the castle courtyard. The Andorrans would have easy target practice for awhile as Frenchmen fell in piles as they ran through the defensive holes, but it would only last until the tanks could break through and the courtyard too was turned into a desolation of rubble and ash.

Beatrix and Herbert were part of this charge, their eyes sprayed with blood and smoke from the long battle they had been a part of for most of the day. From that first charge across the countryside to the center of a ruined city, they had come to the castle keep where the Andorran flag was destined to finally fall. Men dropped around them as they pushed with a squad of men into the castle keep, the stone staircases in front of them, littered with bodies both French and Andorran.

"Comrades! Charge! One last push is all we need!"

There before them, the Andorran leadership held strong behind their barricades and assault rifles. Behind pillars of stone, the French waited for the right time, firing short bursts trying to take down the men behind the barricade. "One last push is all we ne-" Beatrix had started to say, then she fell back as blood ran down her mouth. A bullet had torn a hole through her neck and side. The soldiers around the fallen woman looked horrified as three words graced her soft lips, covered in blood, before her eyes closed. "One...last...push."

The words reinvigorated the soldiers as the turned back to the barricade and came out from their hiding spots. Letting loose a stream of grenades, they blasted away at the barricade and would continue to do so until the last flag of the rebellion would finally fall to the ground.

Once they break through the door Damion would turn around to face the invaders.

“You may think that it will end here but you are wrong. Even with my death here our cause will only get stronger, here and even back in France. The people will have their freedom and all of you are still too blind to see the true enemy. Until that one true enemy is defeated there will never be freedom in France, but if you all are too blind to see it than it is too late for you. This is not the end, it is only just the beginning.”

"You're right," said one of the Revolutionary soldiers as he raised his gun to Damion. "This is the beginning, the beginning of a united France." With a pull of the trigger the Andorran collapsed dead to the ground and the Rebellion ended as the Andorran flag was finally pulled down from the castle and a the Tricolor raised in its place.

When news of the victory in Perpignan reached Paris the city and the rest of the country broke into celebration. Since the creation of the nation, France had come a long way and while they were minor advances compared to the great powers of the world, for the French they were hopefully the beginning of a much larger campaign. The Andorran Rebellion was crushed and while some leaders had managed to escape before a blockade could be set up around Perpignan, the Vice-Duke had been killed during the capture of the central castle. Meanwhile, the Commune had successfully placed the Socialists in power in Norway-Denmark and was going to begin taking credit for the Communist Revolutions which had spread across Northern Europe. It was necessary after all to take credit for as much as possible if Paris was to become the new center of Revolutionary Socialism. Thirdly, and perhaps most important for the continual growth of the Revolution, France had secured a treaty of alliance with the Kingdom of New Spain passing much of the Caribbean with its lucrative trade to the Commune. With the recent problems in Vicidalia and across the Reactionary Americas, the continents across the Atlantic would become the new battle ground as Europe had settled into stagnation with a Fascist Germany and Ireland and the rest of the nations siding with the Socialists.

However, for this moment in time it was time to focus on the politics at hand and the coming victories of the future. On a bright late winter morning, the city of Paris was awakened with the blasting of music and the rolling of tanks. Germans joked that the only time tanks rolled into Paris was when an invasion was happening across the Rhine, but those days, the Commune would swear upon the death of France were over. With secure alliances across the globe, it was the dawn of a new age. As the tanks and lines of infantry marched and drove down the great avenues of Paris, Simone stood proudly on the back of jeep, waving to the crowds. Red flags and Tricolors lined the streets as chants of, "Vive Valentin!" and "Vive la Commune!" rang out to her delight.

Finally, upon reaching the Eiffel Tower she was taken off the jeep and escorted to a podium where she stood in front of a great crowd, of not only France, but broadcasted to the world.

"People of France!

Today marks the end of our internal strife. With little casualty we have ended any potential Reactionary Threat from within French borders and have secured the Commune for years to come. In addition to rooting our enemies from home, we also have learned who our enemies are from across the oceans and mountains. With this in mind, I have done what is necessary to secure France overseas in addition to our domestic sector. Our Second Fleet and Expeditionary Army has returned from Norway after ensuring a Socialist victory in their civil war, commanded by now Admiral Regine Avenier. This victory has secured all of Scandinavia in the ideology of Revolutionary Socialism and has united the West and North, more than it has ever been in ages. These friendships in addition to those in China and in Athens places France as one of the growing premier powers of the day and our strength will only continue to increase as Revolutionary Socialism continues to spread.

With the Treaty of Hispaniola, the islands of the Caribbean, sans Cuba, have passed into French hands. These new lands will open up further possibilities for our people. France will move from a small regional power on the coast of Europe to a force in the world, destined to change the map as we know it. I have made my warnings to those enemies of the Worker quite clear. France is the protector of the disenfranchised and while we may be unmatched, outgunned, out manned, our drive and charisma will never fail us and I would rather have a country ferociously dedicated to their cause then a legion of millions who can only follow orders.

My people, you believe, we believe that our destiny is before us and that we must grab it and hold it aloft. We owe it to ourselves and our allies that Revolutionary Socialism will never die. No, it will only strengthen and carry us to an age of prosperity where France once again shines in the sun.

Vive la France!"

Immediately afterward, draft increases occurred throughout the country and the Chairwoman authorized the expansion of the French Fleet. If the Revolutionary Empire was going to continue to grow, it would require manpower and material.

Back at the Jesse’s and Alexis’s mansion near Edmonton in Canada the rest of Delta besides Jesse and Brian were talking about what had happened in Andorra. Renard gave them the news. “It is official, Damion is dead and the people in France are celebrating.”

They were all angry, especially Nathan. “That is because they are all too blind to see the true enemy that faces them all.”

Renard continued, “Simone has started building up her armies, something big is coming, I'm guessing that it will be a war that will probably change the face of the earth."

Alexis then asked where Jesse and Brian were located and Renard answered. “They are still in the mountains but they should be able to find transportation pretty easily in the city of Pamiers as long as they can keep away from the French prefects in the area. They have some friends there that should be able to help them.”

Nathan finished, “The first battle for Andorra is over. The battle for the rest of the world is now beginning.”
