"Today, as President Dominic Johnson was driving today home from his office, he apparently ran into another car at around 7:10 this evening. eye-witnesses say that he was around three our four miles from his house, when his 2010 corvette ran into the back of a 2007 toyota camry at nearly 55 Km/h. As police, two ambulances and some rescue crew came, it was found that the two men where alive, with the unnamed driver of the toyota being mostly conscious, and suffering otherwise minor injures. Mr. Johnson also took on injuries, like a broken leg, feet, and a arm. They both were taken would to the General Hospital, Health Sciences Centre in St. John. During their arrival to the hospital, Mr. Johnson began to lose more blood than expected, and had to be given the minimal treatment that was available in the ambulance. Upon arrival to the hospitable, the unnamed man would be said that his injures would heal in a few weeks, a couple months at most. Meanwhile, President Johnson, starting to suffer from sudden heart complications, was rushed into a emergency room. He has since told his doctors that as he was driving, he suddenly felt dizzy, and nearly blacked-out. Among rumors that Dominic has suffered heart conditions, it was recently confirmed by doctors, and Dominic Johnson himself, that he does suffer from arrhythmia. However, his condition usually isn't that bad they claim, and are currently unsure of why it would have gotten worse. It is currently unknown at the moment if Mr. Johnson's injuries will allow him to continue watching over the nation or not. Current conditions are also currently unavailable.

We'll have more on this tomorrow, we here at the Newfoundland News Comet wish him and the other driver well, and a good night."
And with that, a sports commercial would come on, followed by a ice hockey game, between the Central Junior Cataracts of Grand Falls-Windsor, and the Corner Brook Junior Royals of Corner Brook.

Today, we learned that President Johnson is making slow recovery, and may not fully recover from his injuries and conditions. He has stated that he will give up control as being president, and let the people to vote in a new one. He also stated his wish for a amendment to our Constitution to address such issues as who gets power should the president die in office, or resign. With Mr. Johnson giving up control, the senate of the Republics of Newfoundland&Labrador will temporally control the country. Those who wish to be presidential nominees may begin running for office starting tomorrow. Polls will begin after the third month, and will end after two weeks.

Today, the last section of the Trans- Newfoundland Freeway has been built. After a little over six years of construction, the freeway that goes from St.John to Channel-Port aux Basques is finished, and traffic along the freeway is now allowed and mostly uninterrupted. St. John Stadium meanwhile has announced their intention to be renamed to the Mile One Stadium, as it's near where the highway starts, and a few other apparent reasons..

Recent amendments to our constitution proposed by our people and government.
------
Removed some unclear sections, Change Article IX

Moved Article XIV to Article I, section C.
(what is now section C of Article I, earlier part of Article IXV) It is the government's ultimate job to protect the basic and unalienable rights of the common citizen. Moved to Preamble. Change wording to: It is the government's ultimate job to protect the basic and unalienable rights of the common citizen.
Remove Section D: of IV (Removed for better and more clear wording) infavor of a new article .
Removed part of Article VII in favor of a new article. (see above)
Changed Article IX (See above)

[(Proposed wording of Article IX)]
Article IX (Impeachment and forced removal)

Section A: Our reps and president, judges, and all other government officials, etc, shall hold their offices during good behavior. The President, judges, reps and all civil Officers of the United Republics of the Island of Newfoundland and the Mainland of Labrador, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High crimes and Misdemeanors. Impeachment must begin in the House of Representatives, where a motion is submitted into a Committee (that would be formed by the house for said reason) detailing what crime or misdemeanor the President (or federal judge) has committed. If the committee votes to accept the motion, it goes to a full vote in the House. If the House votes with a 61% majority to impeach, a separate committee of 'managers' or prosecutors is chosen and the procedure goes back to the house. Should the house still have a 61% Majority vote, then the judge or president would be impeached, and must leave his/her office immediately. The president and any member of the senate may be prosecuted in the criminal courts for criminal activity. If found guilty of a crime in a federal district court, the president or rep would face the same type of sentencing any other criminal defendant would, and may be forced to leave the office.

Section B: Courts also shall hold their offices during good behavior. A Justice may be impeached by the senate and removed from office if convicted in a Senate trial. A judge may be prosecuted in the criminal courts for criminal activity. If found guilty of a crime in a federal district court, the justice would face the same type of sentencing any other criminal defendant would. The district court can not remove him/her from the Bench. Any justice found guilty in the criminal courts of any felony would be impeached and, if found guilty, removed from office.

Section C: A president or rep must leave office however, if a petition was signed for his removal with no less than 75,000 persons. The petition must then be submitted to the supreme-court who will decide if removal is indeed necessary. If the court refuses to recognize, etc the petition, the rep/s and president may stay in office.

With this proposed change by our newest president, Mr. Rode, it is hoped that some wording is more clear, and will make some more legal sense. As well as to make the the removal of office section more clear and practical.

Senate: 197 for; 3 against; 0 abstain.

Of 253,277 registered voters,

~203,000 for, ~17,000 against.

Today, with the apparent collapse of our allies of Greenland, thousands of people across the nation mourn the apparent collapse of their allies. Soon after Greenland's apparent collapse, there were rumors of hundreds to a few thousands of immigrants from the nation that may enter Newfoundland&Labrador. So far already, our government has recorded nearly 125 new immigrants, most from the areas and the proper lands of Greenland. A huge spike in immigration is expected to come along soon, and the government is trying its best to let these people find proper housing and jobs.

A major problem with the loss of Greenland that is an unfortunate expected result of its collapse is that without our large trading-partner, our markets may crash because of the soon to be unstable foreign Greenland currency. And without a strong government in Greenland to back their foreign currency, their currency here may soon become near worthless. The governments of Newfoundland&Labrador however, has told the public that they're working on a plan that will help those who were affected by the fallen currency.

Today, our financial markets were in panic as thousands of the older Greenland foreign dollars became worthless. The Newfoundland& Labrador government has ordered that over the next year and six months, over a hundred thousand NFD worth of our gold is to be given to those affected. The price of gold has dropped a little shortly after the government made this move, and as such, the NFD has lost some of its worth. Citizens of Newfoundland&Labrador should expect some increase in prices for the next few months, until the gold prices become more stable again.

The Government of Sarana would like to know if Newfoundland would like some assistance in the economic sector to help encourage market growth and hopefully deflation? We also would like to know if Newfoundland's interest rates will be going up due to this financial panic.

The people of Newfoundland would appreciate the help of your and other governments in helping with our inflation problems. And interest rates do seem to have a tendency to raise with inflation.

Sarana will be assisting Newfoundland with some economic major students shortly.

Your students will be sent, with some of own best students, to the memorial university of Newfoundland in St. John. Hopefully, we can quickly think of a solution. Some economist experts may also show, including our Minister of finance, Thomas Marshall.

Recently, the launch base at happy valley goose bay in our Labrador has been finished, with final designs on the rocket being mostly done. When it's done, we will launch it into space, where it will carry a satellite that will enter 'medium earth orbit', with the hopes of sending it as high as 15,000 kilometers above sea-level and the satellite is to orbit the earth at-least once. However, because of the weather conditions of our country, we'll likely be able to use this site during only two months a year, limiting what we can send into space. As such, it is ours' and our government's hope that we can find a country willing to let us launch various rockets with their help. In the meantime, however, we'll use what we can. The rocket should be ready for use in a couple of weeks.

The past few months has been a interesting time for the republics. In the mist of a economic downturn, the president and ministers of domestic and foreign affairs has allowed nearly 15,000 new immigrants to come to the republics, much more then usual. As they came along, most found jobs here, and may of helped fix our economy with new domestic markets.

And with increased prices and rents recently, the government has decided to limit its gold supply, and telling banks to keep up to 55% of their gold reserves, with the banks to not fall below a set amount. The government and economic experts hope that this may push the price of gold to a higher value, so that it may be worth more, making the currency worth more.

And lastly, the united republics has launched its first rocket, sending the space capsule it carried for two orbits, for a total of 12 hours, around the earth. The dog is alright, and the rocket is planned to be fixed for future use.

Election results for the 11th session for the House of representatives

The 20XX elections for the 11th session of the house are as follows.

Newfoundland&Labrador Socialist Party: 93 seats

Newfoundland&Labrador First Party: 81

New States Party: 20

Labrador Party: 4

Greens party: 1

Independents: 1

These elections has shown that the people have decided to show more faith for the Newfoundland&Labrador Socialist Party, as the latest president, Françoise Rode of the Newfoundland&Labrador Socialist Party, is of that party, and has a approval rating of at least 53%. It may also help that there is word that some more of the socialist policies may be coming around soon, in the hopes of growing our small nation. The increasing power of the Newfoundland&Labrador First Party also comes as no surprise, if even less, of its increasing power in the house, as many conservatives and so called "Liberal" conservatives prefer the economic and social stance of the Newfoundland&Labrador First Party.

In other news, an amendment to our constitution and a few new sets of laws to go with it are expected to come out soon, with several major cities and districts already planning to let their citizens to vote on the amendment soon. The amendment is supposed to help make more clear the session of presidency, as Françoise Rode election came about with the house knowing of nothing else to do, as well as some confusion in the house on how it may affect the term and maybe a nation's policies and politics.

Several of our engineers have found that St. John's sewage system appears to be out of date, with millions of litres flowing into its harbor and neighboring waters everyday. The government has allowed for 10 million NFD to create a new Harbour Interceptor Sewer, which would be a 1600-mm diameter pipe that would stretch for about two kilometres around the harbourfront to collect the sewage. A site for the sewage treatment plant has also been chosen, at Southside hills. An additional 150 million NFD has been allowed for its construction. Because of its rather visible location, it will also be made to look visually appealing, and not very obtrusive. It should take around three or four years until its completion.

Until its completion however, we will send volunteers to collect and screen the raw sewage water. With this, and the sewage plant that should be complected in a few short years, we hope to eventually heal our environment for our seas and water.

With a majority vote of 150 of the members of the house saying yes, and only 27 saying no, with a more recent vote of over 235,000 registered voters agreeing, for a amendment to our constitution, creating a new article; "Article XVII"

The amendment was written and made to create a set of successors for when the president is dead, or is too incapacitated to act within his/her powers, and etc.

Article XVII  (Presidential Succession)

(a) Should the president be unable to lead the republics, by reason of death, resignation, removal, or failure to qualify, then the vice president shall take his office. Should the vice president be unable to take office, then the powers and duties of the president and his office is to pass to the minister of domestic affairs.
(b) These rules shall also apply in the same cases and reasons as previously stated to those acting as president.
(c) Any person acting as president under sections (a), or (b) of this section shall continue to act until the expiration of the current presidential term.
(d) Should the president be unable to perform his duties because of a disability, then the vise president, or other person who is recognized by the senate, as stated in the list in section (e), may act as president, until the removal of his disability.
(e)Should, for reason of death, resignation, removal, or unable to qualify, be no person from section (a) to replace the president, then the office is to be given to the person whom is highest of the following list, so long as they qualify, are not disabled, and wish to be the next president; Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Ministry of Innovation Trade and Rural Development, Minister of Finance, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Education, Minister of Health, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, Minister of defense, Military Adviser, Minister of Transportation. Should any of these people be unable to act, then the senate shall appoint a new president.
(f) Any person whom replaces the president of these united republics under this section shall enjoy a full nine (9) year term, unless he wishes to resign. Should he be appointed by the senate, as explained at the end of section (e), he will only receive a four (4) year term, unless if he wishes to resign.
(g) Should any person for any reason act as president under this article, his compensation and salary shall be at the rate then provided by law that was for the president.

Election results for the 12th session for the House of representatives

The 20XX elections for the 12th session of the house are as follows.

Newfoundland&Labrador Socialist Party: 88 seats

Newfoundland&Labrador First Party: 79

New States Party: 16

Labrador Party: 13

Greens party: 3

Independents: 1

Recent polls have shown, along with our latest election for the seats for the house, that the are Socialist Party is losing some ground, as the Newfoundland&Labrador First Party is gaining some. The Labrador Party also seems to be growing, possibly a result of the people of the Labor territory wishing to have more of a say in the nation's politics.

Given the most recent fall of Germany, Newfoundlandic troops and personal would head over to Vinland and the general area around it. Even tho there really aren't many people living in the area, the move was largely symbolic. Any German installations that are not archaeological in nature, or any that have no such value for concerning such, would be torn down, and such parts may be used for other purposes, as seen fit by the local and central governments.

Archaeological sites in/near the area will open in a couple days, and will soon be worked by our local archaeologist, and students. Any qualified persons or students from the other nations are also welcome to come to this, and other Archaeological sites as well.

"The Faraway Realm deems this a great day for all Canadians, if not for all North Americans. Not only due to the political meaning of one less foreign outpost imposing on our shores, but because with this recovery, the ruins of one of the first European settlements on our continent, beginning of the immigration and exploration of the western Hemisphere by Caucasian people, may be restored to a degree to resume research in early European settements, Norse culture and the earliest exchanges between the Newcomers and the First Nations, whom we should not forget.
If Newfoundland and Labrador do not have any objections, the Royal Faraway Academy of Sciences would like to offer their assistence in restoring the ruins at L'Anse aux Meadows."

"We're glade to know that there are people out there who seek to know more about the first immigrations into the new world by the Norse people, with the hopes that we may understand more about their cultures, and exchanges between the Norse and the First Nations, whom have lived here long before us, and who we hope to better understand as well.

We at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, and we believe the rest of Newfoundland&Labrador, would be honored to welcome the people of the Royal Faraway Academy of Sciences to come and help us restore the ruins of L'Anse aux Meadows, with the hopes that we all can better understand our history."

With 141 of our representatives saying yes, the government of Newfoundland&Labrador has finally passed the 'Labrador Mining Project', which will give over 750 million NFD to help fund the various companies search for and extraction of resources in in the region of Labrador. It is hoped that the region of Labrador may benefit from these mines, and is hoped to bring in new revenue for both the people in the region, and Newfoundland&Labrador as a whole.

Local passenger ferry hits wharf; no injuries reported

This evening at around 8 AM, a passenger ferry struck a wharf at Port aux Basques. Thankfully, no injuries has been reported, however there was minor damage to the structure it hit. Local officials believe that foggy conditions may of played a role in what has happened. The crew and passengers are currently being investigated to better understand what happened. The boat itself still has power, but a tugboat has been called in in case it happens to be needed.
