Today, after several years of trying to build along the fields of Hibernia, we have finished the construction of our first four wells. So far, each well can recover at the least so-far, about 38,000 bbl of crude a day. Or about 152,000 a day for all for of them. Each well will be worth about 1,500 new jobs for the economy, witch will bring down unemployment.(currently, our unemployment is about 5.7%) Stocks for FoundTrans-Atlantic Oil has as a result risen to about $50 a share, meaning that the company is indeed rising. As for the Hibernia Oil well that is currently under-construction, should be finished in less than a couple years. Dozens of new storage tanks, and refineries have lately been built near the coast of st. John, with some of the dozens else-where, witch will also help with employment, and the oil industry. And lastly, as of next week, FoundTrans-Atlantic Oil announced that they would be selling their oil and refined oil goods and products on the domestic and international markets at the market values.
Our economic experts believe that these wells will make Newfoundland one of the richest countries on the planet, and that we could use that money to further our advancement and progress.

Things in the senate as of lately; National Highway project of 20XX

For; 193. against; 7.

The bill will set aside about 20 billion NFD to build a highway that'll run from St.John to Channel-Port aux Basques. The purpose of the highway would be to increase and encourage trade between the two cities, and those the highway will pass through. As-well as making traveling easier. It's estimated that the highway would be under construction for say a little more than 5 years, and that the construction itself will create new jobs in our factories.

After the first permits were taken care of, and with the the papers we had to sign and such, our first sections of high-way will begin at the 'St'. John Stadium". (ooc- Where 'Mile One Stadium currently is, wanted to temporarily rename it.) and end just out side of Paradise, witch is 7 miles from St. John. Trucks are currently moving in as we speak, as well as the various construction crews needed. This segment is expected to be near completion in 16 weeks, when we'll be moving on to the rest.

As the highway segment between St. John, and Paradise has been completed, another section will be needed for completion. The next section will last several more kilometers to just out side the edge of the Butter Pot Provencal Park. The permits and papers for these areas have also been completed, so now the construction of this second segment will be able to start rather soon.

The next segment of the highway is as seen on the map below.

This section is expected to last another 31 weeks. Construction will be underway as usual.

A platform that was destroyed this month when it was caught in a storm was destroyed as a rough wave hit it. The platform also brought down FoundTrans-Atlantic Oil stocks and reputation as investors and buyers across the country and the lands felt that such a bad thing could happen again. As a precaution, all wells and platforms of the company were shut down for two months to check for any other damages that, and try to repair the wells and make sure such a thing won't happen again.

In other news, from sources as the Alantic Daily, and the Southerwestern Herald it has been hinted that the nation of Pravus Ingruo is on its way to end. We have seen this nation, and we seen it gracefully let us be our own, but times have changed it seems. Till the time you leave, we shall wish its people the best.

In response to theses, and because the like cultures of Newfoundland and labrador, A small force of 7,500 troops and personnel were sent by a rented cargo ship to the Straight of Belle Isle, and if the country should fall, the republic would give the orders to take the region of labrador. The land will be treated as well under our protectorate as Pravus Ingrue. And as this region and our at one time were united, it seems natural that it should be as such now, even as only a protectorate.

With the collapse of Pravus Ingruo, the ship that was by now near Labrador would be given new orders, to keep watch of. News of the Atlantic Confederacy annexing the region would have called for the government to stall the movements, as to avoid the possibly of starting a conflict over the region. The government has announced that it will begin commutations with the Confederacy in a attempt to gain the region of Labrador.

As per an agreement with the Atlantic Confederacy, Newfoundland has been given Labrador, minus 'HappyValley-GooseBay'. While our military advisers were against giving the Confederacy the base, most of those in the government were alright with it, and was approved. Our minister of Finance was heard saying "Even tho we gave them one of the larger North American bases, I believe that we also got what we wanted, a way to gain more resources to grow our economy even further. Let them have there base, and in time, we should try to make our own with the potential wealth that could be made up there."
------
In Labrador, a force of 7,500 troops have went off towards the mainland of Labrador. They were to go out and secure the borders, and most major settlements.
The people of the region of Labrador will soon hold elections to find if the region wants to be a protectorate, separate completely, or become a-part of Newfoundland. Because of the regions small population, the elections will began within a week, and will last for about a month.
-----------
And lastly, elections for Newfoundland is to begin next month, after the elections of Labrador. President Dominic has decided that he would rerun for the first presidential elections. This will also be the third elections for the house of representatives.

With the section of the highway near completion near Butter Pot Provencal Park, another section will soon be started, with materials already on their way. This next section will be from just outside of the national park to near the Middle Gulf Pond. This section should be completed in 16 weeks.
--------------

In other news, the people of the region of Labrador has spoken, and they have allowed us (with about 67 percent of the total votes) to keep watch over them as one of our own, to let the region to officially be a part of Newfoundland once again. With many of the people in the towns and settlements cheering that they would be kept under the guidance of those who have watched over them decades before.
As the region of Labrador is now part of this republic, it seems fitting that a few things be changed. There has been rumors of new constitutional amendments and perhaps a name change to go with it. Several new projects are also expected to unfold in the region.
Only time well find out what will happen next.

Today, it was announced that Newfoundland & Labrador signed a MDoAP with (new) Greenland. There are reports of huge parties in the capitol, and people celebrating through-out the nation as word of the extremely popular treaty came about. A member of the house was heard mentioning "That with our contact with more and more nations, that our old policy of partial isolationism may have come to a end." As our president has concurred with this member.

In other news, there has been word that the St. John Shipyard has been creating other ships besides destroyers. We believe that the members of the government has decided to create and expand our navy to help defend our nation.

Elections have been up for a few months, and will end by the years end. As for today, here is how the current polls stand:
(Total possible votes from registered citizens at end of elections; about 345,000)

(votes for reps in House of Representatives)
Socialist Party: 38
New States Party: 30
Island First Party: 28%
The Labrador Party:3%
Independents: 1%

As these votes show, the Socialist Party looks like it may hold the majority in the house for its 3nd term. As it stands, their popularity seems to be from their proposals for lower taxes on the poor, and how they hope to keep the nation changing and adapting. Of course, they didn't get by all they wanted but of-course, that would be almost impossible. Quite a few things have changed because of this party, who wanted to repair and remake our highway that is still under construction. They also helped give funding to our schools as they needed, and improve our education. In this writer's opinion, I hope this party makes the majority. Speaking of the elections, here are the current polls for the presidential elections

Island First Party- Dominic Johnson: 37%
Socialist Party-Françoise Rode: 37%
New States Party- Aodhan Quilan: 15
The Labrador Party- Jimmy Simpson: 11%

As it currently stands, Dominic Johnson and Françoise Rode appear to have tied these elections. Some people think the former will win because of what he did to help the country rise, and become what it is, with some thinking the later as he's younger, and wants to try to change the nation for the better.
----------------
With the apparent fall of the Atlantic Confederacy, the Republics of Newfoundland and Labrador has decided to take in the 'happy valley goose bay' base, township, and area around it, as our own again. The government has also announced that it intends to use the base for training missions in the future.

St.John Shipyards and the government has announced today that they have finished constructing 3 Kidd Class destroyers that will help petrol and guard our coast. With thousands cheering at the shipyard as they watch the ships pass by, to guard our shores in peace and war. These ships were reported to have the best weapons and technology that our nation has, and has developed, as well as employing several hundred more people to work on these ships. We wish them well patrolling our coast. Along with these ships, and of more that should come, the government has passed the Newfoundland & Labrador Coastguard act, witch will allow the government to officially create a body that will watch over the navy. The body will of course be, the Newfoundland&Labrador Coastguard. The coastguard will be currently headed by our military adviser, along with our senate, and will be given to the president as-well during times of war, as stated in our constitution.

After months of research, the Republic of Newfoundland announced that it has created its own 2.5 kiloton nuclear bomb. The devise has been taken to a undisclosed, lightly to uninhabited part, of the Labrador mainland. The devise was flown by a jet, and soon after was released and was timed to go off once it was estimated to be 50 meters above the mainland. Because of the bomb's small size, it was estimated that very little, if any, radioactive materials escaped into the environment.
And because of its location, little if any of such materials will affect anyone in the region.

President Dominic held a press conference were he stated that "This weapon was created to test our abilities to be a nuclear power nation in the future. To not only be a defense to us, but to help us in times of war."

The results from the elections are in today, and here are the current standings:

Seats for the house of Representatives;

Socialist Party: 97 seats

New States Party: 78 seats

The Labrador Party: 36

Island First Party: 17 seats

And independents with 2 seats.

As expected, the Socialist party has won its third term. However, current pools and surveys say that this may not be the case for too long. As is evident by their shrinking seat holders, to be gained by the New States Party and its growing popularity. Perhaps this may be because of their similar ideals, and that the Socialist Party hasn't done much of what it wanted.
And here's what we have for the presidential election.

Island First Party- Dominic Johnson: 41%
Socialist Party-Françoise Rode: 33%
New States Party- Aodhan Quilan: 13
The Labrador Party- Jimmy Simpson: 11%
Independents: 4%

It appears that Dominic Johnson has won his second term as president this year, and by a much wider margin than expected. Perhaps it's because of his more recent attempts to be more known to the world, and his recent signing into the NADU, as well as bringing Labrador into the republic. Public polls identify that the NADU was rather popular among our populace as they believe that we can be a great continent if we work together, and that the citizens highly approved the admission of Labrador into the republic. However, we here have to wonder if he can continue being president. After hearing rumors of him forming serious heart conditions, he stated "That I to the best of my knowledge am healthy and wise enough to lead this great nation as I had. I can only hope that this nation will grow better."

Most of the highway near the Middle Gulf Pond has been completed. As the highway has been built over a three year period, the structure hasn't been built as fast as it could, mostly due to weather. The rest of the highway is now expected to be completed in 3 years, nine months about.

Today, the House of Representatives have allowed our nation to create a space program. Usually the program is voted against because of financial reasons, but as of lately, and because our country can now better afford such, the house has finally approved the Newfoundland&Labrador Space Program bill. The program will be supervised by a state-owned company by the name of the 'Newfoundland&Labrador Center of Space exploration and Researches" (NaLCoSEaR), and the company will be tasked with domestic research to help develop our nation, as well as study our universe for new knowledge. The company will start with a annual budget of about 10 Billion NFD, and donations from companies and citizens, and from elsewhere, will be accepted to help further our nation and help the company with its works.

One of NaLCoSEaR's first missions would be to create a multistage space-shuttle to carry a (56 lb.) satellite into a 'medium earth orbit', with the hopes of sending it as high as 15,000 kilometers above sea-level and the satellite is to orbit the earth at-least once. The shuttle is calculated to orbit the earth once in approximately 10 hours. This project will be expected to take about 3.5 years
A rocket launch site will also be built around the happy valley goose bay base/town. the site may take 4-6 years for completion. The city will also be the hq of the NaLCoSEaR

To help pay for our projects, a new set of tax documents has been proposed in house today, witch is as follows:

28%- $300,000-$400,000
33%- $400,001- $500,000
35%- 500,001- $999,999
40%- > $1,000,000

the new taxes are based on those who have higher income, however with these rates, it may be changed. We highly doubt that we won't get new taxes however, as our expenses tend to keep raising with our new projects. And to look at the taxes amount of the income I believe is a bit much. In other news, the house is taking our current NADU treaty to review in light of the recent war, and it seems likely that if something doesn't happen anytime soon, the house may vote us out of the pact.

Our House of Representatives has released a new tax law that will tax those who make more than 300,000 NFD a year. These new sets of taxes will come in light of the need of a larger project for larger programs.
Here are the newest sets of taxes;

24%- $300,000-$400,000
25%- $400,001- $500,000
27%- 500,001- $999,999
30%- > $1,000,000

Although we expect some resentment from the upper classes, we don't feel that it will be too much, as they would know that this would help further our projects.

In other news, NaLCoSEaR stated that they are almost done with a space capsule that will be manned(By a dog actually), and will try to send him around the planet at-least once. Of course, such a capsule will need to be launched, and so our engineers and scientists will be at work creating a rocket capable of launching the capsule, and other space vehicle in our near future.

Our house of Representatives has announced that they have passed the "Newfoundland&Labrador Health Care Act (NLHCA)", witch was passed after months of rather heated arguments between the various parties. This would be the first time since Newfoundland became independent as of again to have passed such a law, that was not simply a subsidy for some hospitals.

Under the terms of NLHCA, lawful citizens are encouraged to purchase basic health care insurance, and insurance companies are required to offer this insurance, regardless of age or medical condition. Through this, citizens' medical treatment and hospitalization would be covered for by the insurer and the insured in part.

Furthermore, the Act shall define the role of the government in the new health care system: It will create and or use a Minister of Health, witch of whom will define the minimum benefit package (including but not limited to high-deductible plans and as such). In turn, insurance companies and medicial caretakers (hospitals and clinics, public and private) will be placed under appropriate government regulation on the local, and provincial level; they, for instance, are proscribed from setting any conditions based on age, sex, or health for coverage.

Citizens are encouraged to sign up for the NLHCA at their local hospitals, clinics, and health insurance companies. The act will be funded by taxes, tho no tax increase is expected as of yet, as there was reason to simply shave off some of the budget for other things. This will in a sense subsidy the costs of health care for the citizens. Any thing that is on the minimum care package is in this way considered free to its users, as the state will pay in full the fair market amount of the treatment needed for the patient.

The Act will officially go into effect on March 23rd of next year, and all provinces and territories will implement the Act in full.

After confirmed rumors that Newfoundland has been conducting further atomic bomb testing out over the Atlantic ocean, there have been growing concern from the populace of the threat of nuclear war, fearing that if Newfoundland&Labrador were using nuclear weapons in a war, that other nations may try the same. And fearing the possible damage from such weapons, like the threat of radiation going with the wind to populated areas. As with many other causes for the populace disliking the use and testing of such atomic weapons, the citizens of Newfoundland&Labrador have petitioned the House of Representatives to ban any forms of such weapons within our borders. If such a petition makes it to the house, as it seems likely as of recently, then the house would have to use their time to make a document stating such. Unless of course, if the house decides to not pass such a document, for the sake of national defense. As of recently, any outcome seems likely as the people and government are thinking of ways to defend, and attack the use of nuclear and atomic weapons.

In other news, after watching the happenings of NADU, the house voted with 195 votes for, 3 against, and 2 abstentions, to invoke Article VI of the NADU treaty, effectively issuing a 72-hour notice to the (remaining) members of NADU of Newfoundland&Labrador's withdrawal. Such a move was praised by Harley, our minister of foreign affairs, with her saying "I believe that NADU could have worked, if a certain wars didn't happen, a certain creation and dissolve of a certain unified Virginia and Carolina didn't happen, and if a certain Carolina trying to have everything take place in them." Others noted that this could be a bandwagon like move, with the exit of the American Commonwealth, and Greenland, as well as others.

Several thousand people are outside the confederation building to protest the continued testing of atomic weapons, and plans to expand such weapons. With well over five thousand people outside the confederation building demanding Newfoundland&Labrador to stop its research on the nuclear weapons, and some of there chants being "Off with the red button!", and "Don't kill us along with the rest of the world!" A online petition with over 85,000 signatures demanding the stop the use of such weapons has also came along, and it is expected to gain thousands more over the next few days. There has also been talk in the house to ban the use and research of such weapons, to help calm the unrest and maybe lessen the risk of nuclear war being on our nation's soil.
It seems likely now that the government may have to do-away with such atomic weapons, as it is hoped, to protect our future generations.

"Newfoundland&Labrador will hopefully do the right thing. As I realize that "mutually assured destruction" does seems to be the only deterent, and with many uses anyway in this world, it appears that our citizens would (and rightly so) enjoy not risking a thermal nuclear war and the like. Of course, there are other ways to defend ourselves when needed."

--Minister of general domestic affairs- Jessica Ross
-----------------------------

With the protest still going in St. John, and around Newfoundland and Labrador, the republic has been drafting a bill that would please the citizens. With the local mayor sending out more police units to maintain our laws if needed, and with more people signing the petition asking the republic to use other means than nuclear weapons (and some of its technology). It is really only a matter of hours before it passes we at the Newfoundland News comet believe.

-------------------
in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly (in the Confederation Building) (being televised live by local news stations, and anyone else who bothered to come who would be journalist and the like.) (around noon)
------------------

Head of the senate: "Here is the final version of this document, I believe it's time to vote now. Said document being a proposal to declare the island of Newfoundland, and most of the mainland of Labrador and some of the surrounding waters and areas a nuclear free zone. All in favor, say aye!, and raise your right hand."

'Rep '1 "Aye!"

'Rep' 2 "Aye!"

'Rep' 3 "Aye."

(Some 149 repetitiveness later voting in favor)

Head of the senate: "......97, 98, 99, 100...107...109...111...114....120...125...135....140...144, 145.....150,151,152. Ok, that's 152 votes in favor. All those against, raise your right hand, and say nay!"

"Nay!".........

Head of state: "..27...29...33..35..39. 39 against. All those who abstain would then be 9. Now, as per Article IX of our Constitution, the document needs a 4/5 of the vote, which means those who abstained can not be counted. From my math, the document passes! And just by a single vote! Now, to send this to President Johnson."
--------------------
Outside the Confederation building, cheers could be heard by the thousands that are on its lawn, and could also probably be heard by those who were able to see the live broadcast, for they know what has happened, and feel safer and better because of such.
----------------------
Local reporter, heading outside: "Today is a remarkable day for those in Newfoundland and of Labrador. The people know this, as we go back outside, we can hear the cheers of thousands. Clearly, they know what has happened, and are thankful for it. As for what happened, a document was passed by our House of Representatives, and was also recently signed by our president Dominic Johnson. This document will declare most of the areas of and around Newfoundland&Labrador a 'nuclear free zone.'"

(In a news room) "Thanks Élise for that. Now, here is what was signed, and it will also be on the Newfoundland&Labrador government website."
United Republics Of the Island of Newfoundland and the mainland of Labrador's Deceleration of being a Nuclear Free Zone

This act is to encourage other technologies as needed as opposed to nuclear power, and fund such researches, such as fusion power. To reduce the risk of nuclear warfare by means of no need of 'MAD'. To fund research in other weapons to defend ourselves as needed, to help defend us when threatened by such nuclear weapons. To ensure that our own weapons won't harm our own military and civilian population (ex. Radioactive fallout, etc.) And to ensure the safety of our natural heritage, culture, resources, populace, and that which once belonged to the Vikings, French, Irish, English, and the like, and the landmarks and ruins left behind, and most importantly, to protect our history, culture, and land.

To ensure the safety of Newfoundland&Labrador, and reasons stated above, the following points will need to be enforced by this act.

1. To dismantle our current nuclear weapons and like devices in the areas affected.

2. Newfoundland&Labrador will not develop, store, transport, or use any nuclear weapons.

3. Newfoundland&Labrador is strictly forbidden from assisting other countries in developing, storing or using such nuclear weapons.

4. To refuse to build nuclear power-plants, and/or ships in areas affected.

5. Entry into the internal waters and ports of Newfoundland&Labrador by any ship whose propulsion is wholly or partly dependent on nuclear power is prohibited.

6. Entry into the nuclear free zone by any form of land, sea, and air vehicles, by which said vehicles are carrying some form of a nuclear device and/or weapon is not allowed, and such vehicles will not be allowed within the internal waters and the lands of Newfoundland&Labrador. If a vehicle is thought to be able and or capable of carrying some form of a nuclear devise, such vehicles will be refused entry into our lands and internal waters, unless proven they aren't carrying any such devises.

7. Nuclear missiles and rockets are not to enter our airspace, and we may request if said nation can find another route to fly their weapons. Failure to comply may result in escalation of diplomatic and economic pressure.

8. As an extension to #5, allied and non allied ships are allowed to pass through our EEZ, but must notify our minister of foreign affairs first.

9. The dumping of radioactive waste within the nuclear-free zone is prohibited.

10. It is illegal for Citizens or Residents to manufacture, acquire, possess, or have any control over any nuclear explosive device.

11. For purely research, civilian uses, and 'space technology' (ex. nuclear generators for spacecraft, etc.) purposes, the area being Happy Valley-Goose Bay is exempt from section #4. The area is the only area allowed in Newfoundland&Labrador where nuclear power is allowed.

12. Most nuclear technology is otherwise allowed (not including nuclear warheads, and to a extent, nuclear power. Nuclear power is allowed however as stated in section #11).

13. Newfoundland&Labrador will ask for damage reparation should the fallout inflict damages on the island of Newfoundland and/or the mainland of Labrador. Failure to comply may result in escalation of diplomatic and economic pressure, and should those tactics fail, war.

14. The areas defined as being declared 'nuclear free' will be our territorial waters, up twelve nautical miles from our coast, the lands that are the Island of Newfoundland, and most of the mainland of Labrador, and most of our airspace.

A few weeks ago, our nation has passed our Deceleration of being a Nuclear Free Zone. Today, we will get to find out some of the reasons for why the document has passed by just a single vote. From what we have been told, the Labrador Party and the New States Party formed a bloc to vote in favor. Doing such because of what some have seen, and because they didn't want us to accidently harm our own populace. They also felt that the use and presence of such weapons could damage the nations economy, and wildlife, and such lands. The Island first Party voted against, as they thought that such weapons were needed to protect and help defend our nation. The Socialist party was nearly split in two over the issue, over the arguments of using such weapons as needed, like for first strike and retaliation. As well as the arguments that such use could destroy our land, and ruin our cultural identity.

In other news, Several thousand members of a criminal organization known as the Yellow Turbans has been arrested in Quebec today, according to their various news sources. In response to this, Newfoundland&Labrador will be sending out a undisclosed number (classified part, but could be observed by satellite or radar or such.: a little over a thousand troops) of its troops as boarder portal on the various road accesses between our region of Labrador, and the country of Quebec. President Dominic Johnson has stated that this was necessary as to protect the region of Labrador from the possibility of members of the gang, and other criminals, from entering the region as a safe haven. Local police will also be tasked for looking for suspicious people.
