  1. The very definition of 'alliance' is an agreement between two or more parties, so I believe the only reason why the PPF could be considered as one is because of a necessary technicality do to the game mechanics.
  2. We have not had the best of luck these past few weeks, that's for sure. Why do we always seem to get the bad press?
  3. Thanks, Schatt. I was beginning to wonder how far you'd go on your crusade of revenge. I am now all the more enlightened.
  4. Well, defensive reactions are the ultimate goal of a troll, after all; that seems to be self-evident. Or, perhaps, you were referring to those who would simply post with their normal habits, omitting punctuation, shortening and abbreviating common words and ignoring capitalization. In that case, although it may irk you, are they really doing it in bad faith? If there is no harm in their words, why must they go out of their way to post in a way that you, a faceless name on the internet, find acceptable? Explain what? Are you attempting to argue that there are real life consequences to this game for someone who merely plays for fun? Someone who donates and actively participates in politics will be mindful of their comportment, but others, who are just in it for the fun, have nothing to lose by acting outside the conventions of etiquette (lol, etiquette in Cybernations,) and nothing to gain by acting the way you believe to be acceptable. Might I remind you that this is a game? I would also like to remind you that this is a role-playing game, in other words, it is expected that players will adopt a new persona and play as someone different from themselves. Someone with a different set of morals and motives. Far be it from your authority to tell them otherwise. I will also point out that there are no established laws of discipline like there are in the real world. Politics in Cybernations have evolved completely separately from the world you keep referring to. Sure, we may all inject a variable amount of our own personalities into our persona, but there will always be differences between the real life character and the fictional one, especially if one endeavors to do so. For instance, I am actually a small pig with no regard for where I micturate. I eat mixtures of alfalfa and cow intestines for lunch, but you won't see me complaining. Yea, I wouldn't either.
  5. Those who post so egregiously in the manner you describe will only post because of the reaction they elicit, including reactionary threads such as this. In a game with absolutely no real life consequence (except when you donate, and if you do, you will at least keep within those limits,) one cannot seriously expect every single post to conform to your standards of decency. For one thing, this politeness you speak of, there are as many interpretations of that concept as there are posts in the thread in question. For instance, my interpretation of politeness excludes angry threads that attempt to dictate my behavior with relatively little reasoning. Because I find your thread so offensive, I will now proceed to troll you. Pigeon feces. Am I doin it rite?
  6. The Treaty Tension number is pretty much the stress put on it by other alliances. All untreated alliances will metaphorically push each other away, and treaties will bring them closer together. However, other treaties those two alliances may have will pull them father apart from each other, thus increasing the tension on the treaty between the two original alliances. That tension is the treaty tension. Quite a brilliant idea if I do say so myself. Excellent work, Bob.
  7. The add and drop lines move in proportion to the last sanctioned alliance's growth. If NpO gains .30, so do the add and drop line, which makes it harder to get added. That's one of the problems with peace, on average, the Sanctioned alliances gain more score than smaller alliances do in the same period of time. The most auspicious thing to do is to root for drama.
  8. Lady Cierra was one of the MHA's earliest friends.
  9. I wonder how many people we've gotten to join us from this thread...
  10. I don't think my previous post was conveyed correctly. The fact is, we are not rooting out or inactive members; we are simply stopping recruiting to let the small inactive nations delete. It's not like we're going through our ranks and sending "get off our AA" letters. The second part is that we really don't have that many ghosts in our upper ranks. There is really only one nation who I am not sure of in the top 95 nations of our alliance (over 30k) who might be a ghost. There are probably more smaller nations ghosting us, but certainly not enough that it would make any significant difference during war.
  11. By cutting the fat, I mean stopping recruiting and letting the inactive nations delete. We at one point had nearly 60 members below 100 strength, and still have a very large amount of small nations. A testament to the skill of our recruiters perhaps, but not very effective as far as meat shields go. Unless, of course, you could find a way to turn 50+ sub 100 NS nations into an effective meat shield. In that case, how much do you work for? Even if we were trimming the fat in the conventional sense of the word, I can't imagine that a situation that you describe is even possible. I wish we had large nations ghosting our ranks, but that tends to happen very seldomly, as large nations are less likely to be willing to take that risk.
  12. We're working on cutting the fat, all the while loosing some members who wish to start their own endeavors. Good luck to them.
  13. Ok, let's try and get the updates back on schedule, shall we? October 3, 2008 1 New Pacific Order: 70.58 --> 70.42 (-0.16) 2 Independent Republic of Orange Nations: 61.05 --> 61.17 (+0.12) 3 Multicolored Cross-X Alliance: 46.42 --> 46.46 (+0.04) 4 Mostly Harmless Alliance : 37.86 --> 37.82 (-0.04) 5 Sparta: 35.71--> 35.75 (+0.04) 6 Ragnarok: 34.27 --> 34.62 (+0.35) 7 Fark: 29.58 --> 29.71 (+0.13) 8 Orange Defense Network: 28.69 --> 28.83 (+0.14) The Order of the Paradox: 28.32 --> 28.40 (+0.08) 9 Viridian Entente: 25.89 --> 26.17 (+0.28) 10 The Phoenix Federation: 25.89 --> 25.51 (-0.38) 11 FOK: 24.38 --> 24.62 (+0.24) 12 Grand Global Alliance: 23.36 --> 23.24 (-0.12) ----------------- The Grämlins: 20.76 --> 21.19 (+0.43) Echelon: 20.33 --> 20.39 (+0.06) 13 Green Protection Agency: 19.61 --> 19.67 (+0.06) 14 The Order of Light: 18.81 --> 18.93 (+0.12) New Polar Order: 17.08 --> 17.29 (+0.21) Valhalla: 16.46 --> 16.57 (+0.11) The Democratic Order: 16.21 --> 16.37 (+0.16) United Purple Nations: 16.02 --> 16.00 (-0.02) Monos Archein: 14.63 --> 14.73 (+0.10) Global Democratic Alliance: 14.47 --> 14.35 (-0.12) The Dark Evolution: 14.38 --> 14.10 (-0.28) NATO: 13.20 --> 13.24 (+0.04) LoSS: 12.96 --> 13.03 (+0.07) Invicta: 12.22 --> 12.28 (+0.06) Mushroom Kingdom: 12.12 --> 12.21 (+0.09) World Task Force: 12.05 --> 11.98 (-0.07) RnR: 11.93 --> 11.97 (+0.04) The Legion: 11.77 --> 11.79 (+0.02) Random Insanity Alliance: 11.74 --> 11.76 (+0.02) ---------- Add Line: 11.67 --> 11.62 (-0.05) ---------- Drop Line: 11.37 --> 11.32 (-0.05) Biggest Gainer The Grämlins (+0.43) Biggest Loser The Phoenix Federation: 25.89 --> 25.51 (-0.38) Passes of the Day Viridian Entente passes The Phoenix Federation Commentary Huge gains and losses abound in today's update. The Grämlins take the cake with nearly a half a point gain, while The Phoenix Federation takes the ladder down a spot, loosing out to the Viridian Entente who post a respectable gain themselves. Ragnarok continues a recent trend of large gains, FOK follows up their huge loss yesterday with a nice gain today and the New Polar Order continues to defy the odds and keeps their strength gains coming in spades. Less off today are The Dark Evolution, the New Pacific Order and the Grand Global Alliance who each saw their alliances put up double digit losses. Overall, we saw twelve alliances post double digit gains to round off a solid day. Today's shoutout goes to The Grämlins who grab their first biggest gainer since their (ex-)merger with the Federation of Neutral Force (don't quote me on that.) ----------------------- Related Links: Stats by Unspeakable Evil Lord Sharpe's MDP Web Vote for Cybernations Daily! 14. Actually, I think you guys are as far ahead of us as you ever were. At least 4 points more than when the race started.

The New Pacific Order takes todays biggest gainer with an impressive half a point gain, while the United Purple Nations fare less well, allowing the resurgent New Polar Order to capitalize on the chance and gain a place in the standings. FOK, The Order of Light, NATO, Ragnarok and Valhalla also find themselves with respectable gains, the latter two following big gains from yesterday. faring less well today are LoSS and the Global Democratic Alliance who fall off of The Dark Evolution a bit more. Finally, The Grämlins will be happy to realize that the huge losses the past few days have appeared to go into remission for now. Today's shoutout goes to Cybernations in general; if you haven't noticed, we've gone below 30,000 nations for the first time since Great War II. ----------------------- Related Links: Stats by Unspeakable Evil Lord Sharpe's MDP Web Vote for Cybernations Daily! 16. http://z15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Nations/...=70958&st=0 Enjoy your update.
  17. You're going to query some of the most active and dedicated members of our alliance and try to convince them to leave? If you manage that, even St. Stephen would step aside for you.
  18. Hey, hey, hey, contact Aquilos about that.
  19. Hmm, let me take another look. [EDIT] Ok, I think it's fixed. Tell me if there are any errors, thanks.

Perhaps they saw the ailing Mostly Harmless Alliance and decided to give some of it to them to help offset their losses from yesterday? The New Polar Order seems to be decommissioning their excess military to meet the recent peace terms they were given. Congratulations guys and gals, here's hoping for a swift recovery. Some other notable gains on the day include Fark with a gain of a third of a point and Valhalla with a quarter. Ragnarok and Monos Archein lost a third of a point and a quarter respectively. And for all those who saw their alliance fall off the end of the sanction race yesterday, sorry, but the add and drop lines are correct (kind of, thanks Kev.) You have only The Phoenix Federation to blame. Kindly submit any and all complaints regarding this update to their Internal Affairs department. Thank you. Today's special shoutout goes to Global Democratic Alliance who can't seem to figure out whether or not they are content with a huge gain, or a huge loss. My guess is that there may have been an error in the previous update though, who knows? ----------------------- Related Links: Stats by Unspeakable Evil Lord Sharpe's MDP Web Vote for Cybernations Daily!
