1. I'd like two rolls on Sarah to begin ELINT/SIGINT operations against both the TAF and UGZF. I want to start mapping out the attacks she makes on innocent African citizens so I can begin piecing together where they are coming from. Video feeds and whatever as well, but this is pretty much just a usage of today's rolls. The real stuff comes in the next round of rolls when the UAVs come into play. 2. On the ground, violence would met with brutal precision. The Aeon militants that comprised their portion of the AUSF ([sub]OOC: Ie: not all the protectorate troops are mine AU people, you can RP what you want along side me[/sub]) were not the Nodic ones of old that sprayed countless bullets at single targets. These were disciplined, professional and fanatically loyal soldiers who were given the order to keep the peace no matter the cost. These men would gladly give their lives, if the lives of men in powered combat armor wielding weapons that could cut a man in half were able to be taken by the TAF and UGZF rabble that slaughtered one another in the streets. Lightly armored NDII Hunter Light Reconnaissance/Fast Attack vehicles equipped with the ubiquitous Active Weapon Discharge Locating System (AWDLS) would form the bulk of patrolling AUSF armor controlled by the Aeon. With them would be the sturdier NDII Terminator Armored Being Carriers (ABC) bringing with them the firepower of their remotely operated weapons systems and kill teams of Aeon Light and Heavy Infantry. AWDLS equipped Hunters would be able to pinpoint the sources of bullet, rocket or mortar fire and automatically transmit targeting data to troops on the ground or vehicles in the convoy. Up-armored transport vehicles would carry Abettor Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar Guided Munitions (C-RAMGM) turrets and targeting systems into the streets, protecting both AUSF forces as well as key positions tempting for enemies to attack. All armor on the ground would have their active protection systems set to prevent or minimize collateral damage should a foolish enemy take a potshot at Aeon armor. Care was given to lock down both the UGZF and TAF official headquarters' as merely a symbolic gesture - both parties were obviously destabilizing factors that threatened the peaceful status quo, and would be eventually dealt with in kind. For now, AUSF Aeon forces were careful not to give leeway to one side over the other. Both political groups were being given equal 'protection' as armed AUSF soldiers locked down entrances to, and more importantly, exits from these buildings. Security checkpoints were established at several key junctures to ensure that both sides had barely operational statuses inside their respective camps. With patrols in the streets and both political headquarters effectively occupied, teams of AUSF troops would begin securing residential centers of both sides, with aims to protect minorities in their respective neighbourhoods, be them black or white. Other lifelines such as hospitals, gas and power generation systems, as well as schools would be given priority. Initial analysis of attack patterns by insurgents would begin to piece together the source of the hit teams responsible for inciting violence. Street and security camera footage would be screened extensively by AUSF Aeon technicians at protectorate outposts, intending to begin putting the first pieces of the puzzle together.
3. Report "The Principality would like to submit a formal request for an emergency summit of both civilian and military leadership for all African Union and African Union Security Force member states. AUSF units on the ground are providing troubling engagement reports of armed gangs engaging in racially motivated violence and reprisal attacks on one another," Minister Teguse would announce the Principality's concerns with a murderous serenity. "The Transvaal-Afrikaner Front and the United Greater Zimbabwe Front have begun open clashes amongst one another in large population centers. There are many dead on both sides, and there is a clear and imminent danger that more will be added unless severe actions are undertaken by the AUSF." Teguse slammed a gloved fist on the mahogany desk she shared with the other representatives, "Clearly, someone has chosen to test the African Union's resolve and willingness to lay down the law on its holdings. There will be no massacres, no chaos under our protection. I will personally see to it that these individuals are given the harshest terms for their daring." Ushering an aide to the floor with an angry hand wave, Teguse sat back in her chair seething. Placing a hand to her chin, she began to speak over the projections that soon rose from the floor to stare the AU representatives in the face. "Currently, AUSF personnel are engaging unauthorized armed civilians with multi-lingual orders to relinquish weapons and surrender, with the severity of engagement being carried out on a case by case basis. Patrols have been doubled, and fully armed and armored AUSF peacekeeping personnel are walking the streets and maintaining a heavy presence-" Teguse paused, letting scenes of burning buildings being tended to by white armored fire fighters and machines, of power armored infantry engaging rifle wielding criminals and dead and wounded being tended to by Sisters of the Monastic Order of Medicine fill the hallowed halls of the AU council. "-it is not enough. I request permission to deploy reinforcements immediately to the war torn regions. Due to the necessity of swift action, these forces are already in transit and will wait for authorization at any unavoidable checkpoints. The Principality will commit three divisions of Armored AUSF and Nascent Militant Command infantry. In addition, we will be deploying several squadrons of counter-insurgency UAV and UCAV units to monitor enemy movements and engage potential leadership elements when permission is granted by the rest of the council to allow for lethal force in dealing with this crisis." Teguse glared at the projections in front of her as she inhaled deeply, "I will request, as soon as the council gives permission, the Ministry of National Intelligence to deploy a number of 'cleaners' to the region. Leadership elements of these provocative attacks will be dealt with silently, with no chance for them to become martyrs. There will be no glorious final stands, last speeches or embellished sword battles for these characters and their deserved deaths. We face a critical juncture in the AU's history ladies and gentlemen. Let us not disappoint."
4. Will attest to this circle being in the works for almost a year now. Extremely stable
5. Africa had a reputation of being a quiet, sleepy continent when compared to the other bloodbaths abroad. Many Africans had taken to living under the unobtrusive yet watchful African Union and its military-political arm, the African Union Security Forces (AUSF). Africans within the African Union's sphere of influence were thus content in a large part to stay within sheltered protectorate regions or to move to join one of the AU's member states. Things were good for a very long time, and news coming from one of the few tinderboxes in Africa made the AU and AUSF leaderships want to keep it that way. While no formal local government or leadership, welcome by the AU should it appear, had announced its take over of the affected parts of southern Africa, word of mouth seemed to suggest two political parties vying for future control might be drawing their lines along ethnic boundaries. Such a conflict, if started would be absolutely unacceptable. Which is why the AUSF immediately began increasing the visibility and presence of its personnel within the protectorate two-fold.
6. STARS - The Throne Advanced Medium Range Air Defense System (AMRADS) Pictured: A Throne 6x6 Variant TEL equipped with a dedicated anti-saturation load-out of 32 Valiant SHORAD missiles OOC: Obviously the launcher should be bigger in comparison to the vehicle, sue me. DESCRIPTION: The Throne AMRADS is the first, purpose built weapon system based on the STARS principles and standard architecture. A highly modular system able to use both the unified STARS semi-mobile chassis line of vehicles (tracked, 6x6 and 8x8) as well as more conservative stationary launchers and launch sites, the system is designed to engage a wide variety of targets including the latest generation fighter and strike fighter aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, precision guided munitions, hypersonic and tactical ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a wide variety of situations and combat environments. The weapons system consists of a command module/'Pugio' low altitude search and track radar, 'Gladius 'X-band multi-functional fire control, tracking and surveillance system and three dedicated missile launchers in addition to the two previous Transporter Erector Launcher and Radar (TELAR) vehicles. A typical Throne battery, however, may consist of the Gladius and Pugio TELARs as well as up to eight Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) dedicated launch vehicles. The Throne system utilizes a trio of separate missiles in order to cover a wide range of target types, distances and threat ratings while providing a system that covers several different tracking and target acquisition modes in order to assure kills in even the highest clutter or jamming environments. Specifically, the system uses the 'Valiant' SHOrt Ranged Air Defense (SHORAD) missile, the 'Heroic' Intermediate Range Air Defense (IRAD) missile and the 'Warrior' High Performance Air Defense (HPAD) missile. The system boasts both the mobility, inter-connectivity and modularity the STARS architecture provides, while also coming standard with a high degree of survivability, even in today's high saturation, SEAD and DEAD environment. Dedicated TEL vehicles in a Throne battery can hold a maximum of 10 Heroic/Warrior missiles, or 32 Valiant weapons. TELAR vehicles can hold a maximum of 7 Heroic/Warrior missiles, or 28 Valiant weapons. The modularity of the purpose designed Throne launcher systems allows for any mix of the three missiles to be on board a single launch unit, so long as the rule of 1 Heroic/Warrior to 4 Valiants is followed. Being a part of STARS, the Throne system allows for targeting and intelligence data from other STARS compliant systems to be used in lieu or alongside the provided systems a standalone Throne AMRADS provides. 'GLADIUS' X-Band Multi-Functional Radar: The 'Gladius' is a roof-mounted X-band phased array radar. The system provides simultaneous target detection, multiple target tracking and missile data uplink. As the primary radar for the Throne system, it affords a unit the initial standalone capability of detecting and tracking over 65 targets simultaneously over a 130 km range. In the case of data-link reliant missile modes, the Gladius system can supply data to allow 8 targets to be engaged by 2 missiles each. The radar consists of a rotating phased-array rated at 60 RPM, with full electronic scanning. With electronic beam steering, very low sidelobes and a narrow pencil beam mainlobe, the Gladius is difficult to detect and track by an aircraft's radar warning receiver when not being directly painted by the radar itself, making it also vastly more difficult to jam, damage or destroy in ECM, SEAD or DEAD operations employed against it. As most anti-radiation missiles rely on sidelobes to home in, the window for a SEAD aircraft to attack the Gladius is relatively small. The primary search signal is chirped to provide a very high compression ratio, intended to provide extremely high range resolution of small RCS targets. In addition, the system uses a high power traveling wave tube (TWT) source and frequency hopping techniques to provide good resistance to jamming. The Gladius provides a highly-mobile 3D search and acquisition capability, but is limited in its low level search capability. It is also capable of operating in an ABM role by providing rapid acquisition and tracking of inbound tactical ballistic missiles. Maximum Simultaneous Detect and Track: 65 Maximum Data Links Provided: 16 Search and Track Range: 130 km Search and Track Height: 35 km Frequency: X Band 'PUGIO' Low-Altitude Search and Track Radar/Command Module: The 'Pugio' is a G/H frequency agile, low to medium altitude pulse doppler air search radar and combat control center. It can be used in both the mobile and static versions of the Throne system and is attached to a launch vehicle via extendable boom-mount, making it a Transporter Erector Launcher and Radar (TELAR) much like the Gladius' roof-mounted operation. It is designed to detect low-altitude, low cross-section aircraft targets in conditions of severe clutter and electronic countermeasures. As an air-defense command center, the Pugio provides an air picture to an entire Throne battery system using STARS standard communications. The Pugio provides an integrated command, control and communication (C3) system, and is responsible for 'outside' communication between a STARS wide area network and the Throne local area network, allowing for it to be integrated into STARS and non-STARS sensors and shooters. The Pugio provides multi-beam, 3-Dimensional air coverage with instrumented ranges of up to 100 km, and altitude coverage from ground-level to 20 km with 70-degree elevation coverage and a similar detection and tracking count of 65 shared with the Gladius. A maintained pulse density suppresses high clutter and assures operation in adverse weather conditions. Ultra-low antenna side-lobes combined with pulse-to-pulse and burst-to-burst frequency hopping provides both resistance to jamming and a low probability of warning to targets. Hovering helicopter and artillery/mortar locating functions are automatic, allowing the radar to detect incoming rounds and give 20 seconds or more of warning before impact to C-RAM and anti-PGM systems in the area. Search and Track Range: 100 km Search and Track Height: 0 m to 20 km Frequency: G/H Band Agile Pictured: Up-armored, tracked version of the 6x6 TEL launcher minus missile box. 'VALIANT' SHORAD missile: The 'Valiant' is a short ranged air defense missile designed for both the self defense of a Throne AMRADS position against enemy saturation, SEAD and DEAD missions, as well as providing short range protection for combat units assigned to its care. The Valiant itself is based on a proposed design for a joint service short ranged hypersonic missile useable in both air to air and anti-tank roles. It is a relatively small, inexpensive weapon, able to be configured for slower speed, high maneuver applications or high speed interception, line of sight attacks. Guidance primarily relies on either the 'Pugio' low-altitude search and track radar or 'Gladius' X-band radar first being used to determine an initial position and heading of an enemy target. The missile is then cold launched to a height of 30 m before the missile's main rocket sustainer ignites. The Valiant uses an inertial navigation system (INS) to travel to the predicted location the Pugio or Gladius tracking radar provided at launch. This mid course INS guidance does not require constant updates or processing power from fire control due to the missile's speed and relatively short distance to target, theoretically allowing Throne battery systems to dump almost the entirety of their Valiant weapons onboard all launchers into the 65 target positions provided by the search and track functions either radar. Once a Valiant reaches a pre-determined distance from the INS location, its combined EO/IR seeker is activated, homing in on the original target or any other targets present in the weapons search envelope. The relative simplicity of the Valiant, in addition to its cost effective guidance allow it to be fired enmass against (artificial or not) target rich environments. It is a weapon not easily overwhelmed with high numbers of incoming targets, and easily wins any wars of attrition. Its fire-and-forget (FoF), lock-on after launch (LOAL) capability allow it to be a rugged weapon in almost any situation against enemy aircraft, helicopters, PGMs, UAVs and other air breathing targets. Its inert, hit-to-kill warhead provides protection against ammunition cook-off. Target Max Altitude: 5 km Target Max Range: 5 ~ 10 km+ Guidance: INS + EO/IR Diameter: 125 mm Length: 2.5 m Speed: Mach 4 to 8 Warhead: Hit-to-Kill Penetrator 'HEROIC' IRAD missile: The Heroic Intermediate Range Air Defense weapon is an advanced surface-to-air missile (SAM) designed to engage a wide range of air breathing and ballistic targets in extremely severe clutter and jamming environments with unprecedented effectiveness. The missile is able to intercept targets traveling at a maximum speed of Mach 15 and at a maximum altitude of 35 km. During operation, the Heroic is fed with a initial position and heading supplied by either the Pugio or Gladius system and uses it for an INS guidance much like the smaller Valiant. Its much larger engagement range, however, requires the need of a secondary Semi-Active Radar Homing (SARH) data link provided by a tracking radar, limiting a Throne battery to firing at maximum 16 Heroics at 8 distinct targets. The terminal Active Radar Homing nature of the Heroic allows for the feasibility of relying solely on INS for mid course and forgoing usage of the SARH in jamming/ECCM scenarios, but is reserved for only the most dire of situations. The Heroic's cold launch consists of ejecting the missile to a height of 30 meters above its launch tube, where as its motor ignites. A Thrust Vectoring Control (TVC) system based on gas emission provides extreme maneuverability to the missile, and a 24 kg Magneto Hydrodynamic Explosive Warhead (MHE) allows for tailor made intelligent explosively formed penetrators to guarantee kills against targets. Both the Heroic IRAD and Warrior HPAD share many components and are similar in terms of weight and dimensions so much so that they share the same launch tube on a Throne TEL or TELAR. Variants of both the Heroic and Warrior missiles have variants dedicated to differing mission patterns with -A (home-on jam) and -B (passive radar homing) models giving the Throne system added utility. Target Max Altitude: 20 km Target Max Range: 1 - 40 km+ Target Max Speed: Mach 14 ~ 14.75 Guidance: INS + SARH Data link, ARH Diameter: 240 mm Length: 4.75 m Weight: 333 kg Speed: Mach 3 Warhead: 24 kg MHE 'WARRIOR' HPAD missile: The 'Warrior' High Performance Air Defense missile is essentially a fully compatible, enhanced design Heroic IRAD with a stronger booster, higher ceiling, range and speed along with a hit-to-kill terminal mechanism. Target Max Altitude: 35 km Target Max Range: 1 - 120 km+ Target Max Speed: Mach 14 ~ 14.75 Guidance: INS + SARH Data link, ARH Diameter: 240 mm Length: 4.75 m Weight: 420 kg Speed: Mach 5 Warhead: Hit-to-Kill Penetrator
7. IV Anbus, Eri Metropolis, Outskirts Colonel Coontz frowned at the skies above the darkened city. While the 8th Fleet fought for survival in low orbit, the 12th Armored Company readied itself for its own battles soon to come. When the alert sirens began their hour long blare over the planet, Sheolite colonists and civilians immediately began the long drilled trek towards the city's centralized bombardment shelters. Those located in the much more remote satellite towns feeding Eri simply made do with their own districts' provisions against marauding Xeno threats, while many still took to fleeing towards the relative safety the duracrete maze that Eri provided them. For the citizens who dared leave their dwellings, it was only a matter of reaching the city safely and in one piece. It was the infantry's job to hold the line long enough for the civilians to do so. Coontz took that sentiment quite personally as he glared at the flaming objects that streaked towards the surface of IV Anbus. The Colonel, as well as the men and women around him could only hope that the Yggdrasil would make it out safely, and that the thousands aboard the 8th Fleet would not have died in vain. The lengthy damage reports that trickled down to brass on the planet's surface were a mixed blessing - they knew the 8th was fortunately still in the fight, but that it was unfortunately paying a heavier and heavier price as the hours wore on. The planetary defense forces of IV Anbus could only guess at the actual extent of the fighting at this point given that the planetary governor had swiftly ordered a planet-wide communications black out as soon as the golden vessels appeared on long range scanners. It was an attempt at preventing large scale orbital bombardment from pinpointing strongholds and troop concentrations, as well as population centers the twisted Illuminate forces would 'cleanse' in an instant. The only confirmed fact was that multiple drop carriages were spotted being deployed amidst the fighting towards the surface. The aliens would be touching down, and it was the 12th Armored's duty to give them a warm welcome. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV Anbus, Fort Erebus, Office of Battle Assessment and Strategic Defense The near destruction of the 8th Fleet as well as the impending doom of the Yggdrasil would be a severe blow to planetary morale, both for the Sheolite citizenry still clinging to hope as well the the innumerable armed forces present on the surface. It played no small part in ordering the communications blackout. A major concern, however, were the several dozen gigajoules of destructive laser energy being brought to bear on the hardened Fort Erebus complex and surrounding country side on a regular basis. While the 8th Fleet's ploy in orbit to act as a (slight) anti-beam screen helped allay a bit of the damage being sent down to the surface, things were getting hot and quickly. The troubling reports of inbound drop carriages did nothing to help either. The Fort's anti-laser screens could only hold out for so long, and provided no protection from enemy troops and vehicles that could simply pass through the protective 'bubbles' unscathed. "I want our AA complexes online before the first Xeno hits atmo! Turn them into flying coffins before they hit the ground. Once they've landed, arm any mines we've got nearby and send in the cavalry. The xeno-!@#$%^&* will be finished before they even get in sight of Eri!" "Drop carriages detected," one of the junior officers announced, interrupting General Morrison's bravado-laced orders with an unsettling truth - on the main screen, hundreds of golden objects hurtled towards the surface of IV Anbus, with many extending attitude control surfaces to begin a proper descent, "Majority of their composition matches that of the Type 1 exoatmospheric landing craft, with a number of Type 7s located near the center of the clusters." "Look at them all!" squawked Lieutenant Wilby as he scanned images from the outlying sensor data. The low-ranking officer stood with other soldiers at banks of instrument panels within the domed administrative building. "Open up a dialogue with Gunnery, I want those orbital defense weapons firing yesterday!" Morrison bleated over the din of battle chatter. Around him, automated systems hummed with activity. Listening to the raid sirens drone incessantly, the chatter of orders as they filtered down the ranks and the reports they elicited, he drew a slow breath, prioritizing tasks. "We can stop them," he said to himself quietly. "We will stop them." Morrison nodded to himself, performing a quick mental note of tasks needed to do in a much-drilled procedure. The Sheolite Dominion always lived under the avarice and sheer profanity of the Aeon Illuminate, and the Anbussian Militia trained regularly for every scenario, as did Dominion detatchments of every Sheolite world. "Activate Hammerdown Protocol for the planet. I want the city's outer rings depopulated of civilians immediately - the damned Xenos will be gunning for the space port at the center. We'll kill them all in our streets if we have to." Once the enemy faced the brunt of the defenses the Sheolites would bring to bear, had suffered the immense casualties urban combat on a Dominion world would inflcit, they'd calculate their losses to be too heavy and retreat. The Aeon didn't like to take unnecessary risks. He stared at the projections coming in. But they are fanatics. And there are so many of them. Fort Erebus, along with several other Sheolite installations on the surface of the planet surrounding Eri was a nerve cluster of the Dominion's military might planetside. With many major operations being run from the base, along with the considerable men and material present, it would be a prime target for an attack. Erebus' close proximity to Eri itself meant that it was considerably well staffed while most of the forces garrisoned there had still not mobilized. Its importance was not lost on the Illuminate invasion forces in the slightest. While clusters of surface to air batteries and anti-laser screens had their usages, they had fatal short comings. General Morrison would be the midst of another daring tirade against the evils of xenophilia even as a trio of chapel-sized carriages diverted their courses to hover precariously over Erebus. The massive, golden objects easily shrugged off the missile and railgun strikes hastily employed against them. Several smaller carriages accompanied the flying tombstones as they crashed into Erebus and several other bases. The hot, metallic scream of agonized atmosphere sounded for miles as the pyramid-shaped, golden monoliths and their escorts fell like bullets from space. The tungsten rain of drop carriages big and small crashed one after another into the ground. With thunderclaps, they smashed into the Administrative building and other structures, leveling city blocks worth of Sheolite infrastructure with explosive kinetic energy. The impacts proved fatal to Dominion personnel present within the Forts serving Eri. But advanced shock mitigation systems protected the deadly cargoes within the carriages. Soon, Illuminate warmechs and hover tanks spread like a cancer from the still smoking craters. Heavily armed warriors and battle priestesses would flit through the advancing Aeon armor, killing anything still breathing on the surface.
8. Eridanus Cluster, Theta Eridani System, IV Anbus High Orbit IV Anbus was a gem of a world in the Theta Eridani system. A garden world by all accounts, it was one of the few life bearing worlds in this part of the Eridanus cluster - capable of housing humanity with little change or precaution necessary. It was a cosmic blessing, and it bore countless bounties upon its population - a budding Sheolite world. Many satellite settlements dotted the lush landscape, feeding the thriving Eri metropolis as well as providing much needed provisions for both the Dominion installations planetside as well as the numerous freighters and warships that loomed in orbit. It was a gem jealously guarded by the Sheolite Dominion, a status that would soon be its undoing. Like a school of curious fish, several golden objects were detected, silently skirting the edges of IV Anbus' gravity well. Dominion picket defenses were scrambled as the golden monoliths began a slow, but sure approach towards the green and blue marble at the heart of the prickling Dominion vessels. Planet-wide alarms were set in the face of the oncoming Illuminate tide, but would serve little purpose other than rouse the sleepy population into utter terror - the Aeon warships had superior numbers in orbit, and would easily cut off any means of organized escape. The golden vessels would do nothing but herald the end of IV Anbus, as this particular armada had done to countless other Sheolite worlds. But this did not mean that IV Anbus would be given without a fight. Abaddon class dreadnoughts, their immense, beautiful hulls adorned with contradictory depictions of joyous Seraphim-Kadeshi contact events as well as crushing victories against Sheolite warships in prior battles, hurtled at paces that appeared deceptively slow, flanked by several Apocalypse class battleships. Breaking off from the steady pace of the larger vessels, scores of smaller cruisers and frigates accelerated at breakneck speeds towards the planet's surface - hounds, eager for prey. Eridanus Cluster, Theta Eridani System, IV Anbus Low Orbit "All vessels, assume a tight formation and prepare to intercept. Yggdrasil do not move, remain behind this ship." Admiral Vranesic's voice showed no fear, no reservations even as he sat aboard the bridge of the SDV de Ruyter alongside the mustered strength of the Sheolite Dominion's 8th Fleet. The small, hopelessly outmanned and outgunned IV Anbus garrison showed no intent to flee or retreat. Admiral Vranesic's hastily drawn battle plan had the 8th fleet hovering precariously over IV Anbus' atmosphere, the planet, cities and peoples they desperately wished to protect glowing beneath and behind them. "Valkyrie 1 and Valkyrie 2, deploy countermeasures at once. Activate kinetic attenuation fields, prepare anti-beam depth charges," the Lieutenant aboard ordered over the comm. systems. The Sheolite fleet had little time to prepare their defenses or co-ordinate with the small number of ground batteries on the planet's surface, for every second that passed meant that the golden harbingers of death would be that much closer. Puffs of particulate matter erupted throughout the host of gun metal grey and mottled, almost rusty colored warships, shooting capsules and unmarked canisters into lingering positions amongst the ships. "Supply ships, withdraw immediately to the Yggdrasil. All ships, close exterior bay doors and prepare for depressurization." At once, several vessels amongst the fleet began a strange metamorphosis - armored panels opened to reveal prickling pinpoints of weapons systems. Extraneous infrastructure was retracted into protective berths and immense heat radiators were folded and retracted. Particulate matter amongst the Sheolite warships increased as the vessels simultaneously began venting onboard atmospheres into space, their crews long ago adorning themselves with bulky protective suits designed for exoatmospheric survival. "We have incoming enemy warships, prepare to engage!" Already, several of the smaller Aeon vessels had come close enough to pick up on visual scanners. Personnel within Intelligence Operations onboard the de Ruyten quickly brought up several of the golden vessels on several screens, hastily running analysis routines and checking for any upgrades or new features to report to Dominion Fleet intelligence. "We've got several dozen Type 36, Type 37 frigates, as well as Type 24 cruisers, Sirs," a junior officer reported on deaf ears, "There are several Type 32s and Type 47s several hundred kilometers above us at mark green, indigo fourteen." Admiral Vranesic gave an appraising nod to the officer, frowning at the knobby shaped objects streaking towards them, taking care to glare at the numerous weapons systems that protruded from their otherwise sleek hulls. Grunting as he shifted position on the bridge chair, the Admiral spoke up into the mic again, "Their main target will be the Yggdrasil, we must screen the vessel so that it can escape with the rest of the refugees. We'll be coordinating as best we can with IV Anbus command back down on the surface, take all necessary precautions and make sure you do not get hit by fire from the planet's surface." Several of the golden warships abruptly broke positions, turning upwards and away at jarringly fast speeds, leaving resonance torpedoes in their wake. The ships themselves would continue to dart in and out of the 8th Fleet's line of fire, using their transversal velocities to keep themselves safe, all the while the Aeon's larger guns would be bringing the pain from afar. Weaving in and out of the lancing arcs of rail gun fire the Dominion vessels fired, the Aeon frigates and cruisers parlayed with one another. Several ships from both sides broke up in orbit, while several more flew past, their weapons firing in silence amongst the void. Accusing fingers of light erupted from the larger Aeon warships in high orbit, smashing themselves against Sheolite kinetic attenuators effortlessly and spawning flame and detritus from the warped hulls they created. An Illuminate Punisher-class Frigate danced to the side avoiding streaks of hypersonic projectiles from one Sheolite Corvette, only to spiral again to avoid another Corvette's fire as it hurtled past. With its beam laser loci already focused on its rear, it opened up, incinerating the trailing vessel before it could turn about and bring its weapons to bear. An Executioner-class frigate tried haplessly to evade similar circumstances, but was hunted down like a fox being mauled to death by hounds, its flaming hull crashing into the attenuators of a nearby Sheolite destroyer that paid them no heed. With all of its beam loci being focused to the front, a Omen-class Cruiser fired a devastating beam barrage infront of it, annihilating a score of Sheolite picket vessels and scattering a half dozen more. In the distance, large, pink explosions of anti-beam particulate were detonated between Sheolite capital ships and the Aeon lances of Gigajoule-class lasers.Things were looking bad for the 8th fleet, and it had been less than 10 minutes since the attack began. Admiral Vranesic grimaced at the sight of several Sheolite and Illuminate warships as they continued to dance amongst the Dominion heavy shipping. Already several wrecks were sent hurtling into space, permanent, ever moving tombstones. More still began perilous descents towards the planet below, with IV Anbus' gravity bidding them to rain death and destruction on the surface below. The tide was slowly and inevitably turning against the 8th Fleet. Vranesic could only watch as the ratio of railgun fire and iridescent beams of death slowly turned towards the Aeon's favor amidst the pitched fight amongst the smaller vessels. Already several Aeon frigates had taken to slipping beneath the buckling protective layer the Sheolite Frigate and Corvette forces provided, taking potshots at the larger vessels with impunity. Already several of the Sheolite Destroyers began turning against the golden insects, with many a rail gun shell impacting harmlessly against friendly kinetic attenuators. "Sir, we've got movement from the Aeon warships in High Orbit! Looks like drop carriages!" "Lieutenant Tarkov!" the Admiral shouted, "I want those carriages destroyed immediately! I will not allow them to drop forces on IV Anbus as long as the 8th Fleet is stil-" A deafening crash created by the onboard aural simulators aboard the de Ruyten caused him to pause as a Sheolite Battlecruiser burst in a mix of charred cinder and metallic vapours behind them. Infront of them, they could only watch as a Destroyer imploded under the dizzying hail of light lasers that perforated its bridge and engineering sections. A cruiser fought desperately to stay in formation as it veered dangerously close to the de Ruyten, two gaping maws punched through its starboard flank. "The Doria's been hit, the Leopold is not responding. The Don Jose is gone and the Yggdrasil is under heavy fire!" Lieutenant Tarkov listed the casualties with fear in his voice as the 8th Fleet began reeling from its losses. "How can that be?!" Vranesic shouted, "We've lost four capital ships only 10 minutes into the battle!" "Sirs," the Junior officer interrupted again, "The enemy Type 32 and 47 are approaching. We're detecting target designators on the Doria and Leopold!" Eridanus Cluster, Theta Eridani System, IV Anbus High Orbit High Priest Odoma watched as the two wounded Sheolite warships evaporated under the fire of the Indomitable's heavy guns. Pressing the Aeon warships closer to the faltering enemy fleet below, the Priest had decided to expedite the invasion of IV Anbus by simultaneously destroying the Sheolite fleet in orbit while commencing orbital bombardment and troop deployment in a single fell swoop. "Well done! Focus fire on the enemy super freighter!" he exclaimed, gazing intently at the large, hulking vision of the Yggdrasil shrouded by the remnants of the Sheolite 8th Fleet. The 42nd Crusade's High Command had given accurate intelligence indeed - the Aeon attack force had caught the Dominion off guard. The forces under Odoma's command were in the prime position to wipe out much of the Dominion's operational capacity in the sector with the destruction of the Yggdrasil. "My Lord," Fleet Admiral Janelle Cirrus spoke with the authority her high ranking in the crusade provided. She was not intimidated by the representative of the Empress herself, thinking Odoma a brute, not deserving of beloved Sara Burke's trust or guidance, "Might it be more beneficial to the crusade if we captured the vessel? The hulking craft is unarmed, and houses tens of thousands of recruits for the Imperial Ecclesiarchy. "You are too soft for a Fleet Admiral," Odoma said off-handedly, "If you show the enemy respite, it will only convince him to come to you later on with new weapons at hand and new recruits at his back. We must destroy the Sheolites where they stand admiral." "Yes my Lord," Cirrus nodded, frowning as she watched her brothers and sisters thrust themselves upon the wretched Sheolite fleet. 9. Now that I think of it, being overrated is also overrated.
10. STARS - Air Defense of the Future MISSION It has become increasingly apparent that in order for an enemy to successfully take and hold a target location or state, he would have to in whole or in part neutralize a victim's capability against a variety of air breathing and exoatmospheric targets, as well as the ordinance those platforms deploy. An aggressor must neutralize or occupy this capacity quickly in the beginning of invasion in order to begin to attempt campaigns of rapid dominance. High density attacks, or attacks designed to flood or saturate a dedicated air defense have become the norm. Today, contemporary defenses must contend with hundreds, if not thousands of false, exaggerated, or highly uncooperative targets - each a potential source for destruction and mayhem against positions air defense complexes are designed to defend. In addition, the added threat of Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) or Destruction of Enemy Air Defense (DEAD) missions and aircraft poses a danger to the very lives of the defenders themselves. The Principality, in conjunction with both the African Union Security Forces (AUSF) and Air Militant Command (AMC) has finished finalizing the release of the Strategic, Tactical Air Repulsion System, or STARS. It is a series of integrated standards, practices and protocols incorporating a variety of hard and soft systems designed for maximum survivability against small, or protracted attempts at hindering, bypassing or destroying African air defense capability. It is designed as a STANAG or Standard Agreement the Principality and its allies can use to better coordinate defenses on a truly strategic level, incorporating both imported and indigenously designed systems for better cohesion in the face of a determined enemy. STARS is designed to address current and future threats. It has been developed to provide a highly tiered, redundant and flexible network with which a variety of weapons can be deployed against a variety of targets to maximize kills and overwhelm extreme threats. Systems under the STARS architecture will be able to engage and destroy ballistic and hypersonic cruise missiles, as well as low and high flying aircraft, helicopters, UAVs and terrain hugging ordinance. At the lowest levels, STARS has functionality designed to allow even anti-precision guided munitions (PGMs) systems in on the action. TRANSPORTATION, MOBILITY AND PROTECTION Lightweight, efficient STARS elements improve strategic deploy-ability and provide much needed tactical mobility. STARS units need only a fraction of the current air defense systems' airlift demands, and an initial defensive capability can be transported using just two C-17 equivalent aircraft. Once in theatre, STARS elements are quickly redeployable using tactical aircraft. STARS elements can simply drive off, deploy and are ready to fight. All mobile STARS elements use armored tracked and untracked vehicles, and can quickly assume road march configurations to keep pace with fast moving maneuver forces, redeploy to new positions or protect themselves from retribution easily. Priority is placed on mobility and flexibility for both survivability, rapid response and gap-fillers in the case of enemy breakthroughs in conjunction with stationary units to help provide a multi-faceted coverage at all times with continuous 360 degree air and missile defense coverage. OPERATING CONCEPTS Advanced, wired and wireless STARS elements operate as individual nodes on a closed network. These elements themselves may be composed of a miniature network of their own. This results in unprecedented flexibility and security for a Commander. Unique 'plug n shoot' capability lets STARS elements attach to and attach from a network node at will, with no requirement to resynchronize, or worse - shut the system down. The STARS architecture has provisions to accept fibre optic, secured frequency hopping radio or point-to-point laser mediums for communication, resulting in a hard to pin-down, hard to disrupt connection at all times with a high degree of overlap. With STARS, a Commander can dynamically extract elements to protect a fast force moving out of the protective umbrella a given STARS network provides. The minimum STARS engagement capability requires only one launcher and one battle manager/fire-control radar. More robust systems are available that provide a Transporter Erector Launcher and Radar (TELAR) package entirely on one vehicle for the added mobility and survivability that comes with the ability to field a larger number of redundant systems. As more STARS elements arrive, they can automatically and seamlessly network with other systems following the STARS model. Modular battle packages can be created for differing types of missions - from early entry minimum configurations, to multiple fire unit battalions working for homeland defense. DEGREE OF PROTECTION The proliferation of a number of high performance cruise missiles and UAVs now means our nations and forces can be attacked from anywhere at any time. That's why STARS radars are designed to work in tandem with a number of active and passive systems to scan a complete perimeter. 360 coverage and 180+degrees over the horizon lets a single STARS fire unit protect critical assets from an enemy attack in any direction. Extremely high powered Over-the-Horizon/Backscatter (OTH-B) radars give an extremely early warning to large or obtrusive formation attacks and ordinance, powerful enough to direct non-STARS systems to engage sea borne surface targets while being precise enough to give long range surface to air missile systems a detailed enough first look to direct lock-on-after-launch systems to the target. Active Electronically Scanned Array radars provide a track while scan capability, able to distinguish targets amidst high clutter and jamming environments, with even the highest concentration of targets being quickly disseminated to individual units under the STARS umbrella in order to bring about a coordinated response from multiple systems. Smaller UHF surveillance radars placed on mobile platforms and in strategic locations increase detection ranges and provides added protection in filling gaps larger systems might not be covering. Working together with sensitive passive arrays and X-band multifunction radars to improve target tracking, and provide better performance in stress and clutter environments. STARS deployment systems themselves are designed to be robust, with a number of launchers and radars being placed on modified armored vehicles. The natural ruggedness such platforms provide is further augmented with standard, built-in active protection systems akin to those used by the Principality's armed forces, designed to protect more against enemy submunitions, penetrative and shaped charge weapons at ranges of 50 m or less. Rapid response units are easily transportable, by being lighter and afforded the ability to fire on the move to negate the lack of heavy armor. All units are designed with rapid deployment or rapid reload in the case of mobile platforms. The STARS node systems allow for networks within networks and thus allows for future additions to be present under its umbrella. It also has provisions to incorporate many elements from the Active Denial- Mission: Anti-Radiation Response (AD-MARS) presently used to resist massed anti-radiation attacks along with a newer survivability systems slated to be released in the coming weeks. INTEROPERABILITY STARS is designed to interoperate with a wide range of platforms and command and control structures. STARS can also seamlessly and quickly incorporate non-STARS sensors and shooters into its 360 degree model, giving nations taking part in national or AUSF initiatives greater flexibility and more defense options. Using a wide array of common communications links and nation specific networks outlined in the STARS STANAG codex, AU nations can share and receive crucial information with a wide range of systems. Through interoperability, STARS will dramatically improve combat effectiveness and situational awareness, reducing the potential for fratricide, jamming and cyberwarfare, as well as extremely high amounts of enemy targets. The result is air and missile defense designed for coalition warfare. STARS units from all AUSF participant nations will seamlessly integrate into each nation's or the AUSF's combat architecture as required. The 'plug n' shoot' functionality allows STARS to evolve as allied states develop new weapons to counter existing and future threats.
11. Damn, No you're right subtle. It should be 0 A.D.
12. Left a lot ambiguous and open to change if I messed things up, while also leaving loads of room for further expansion later on down the line. 65.555 Ma. - An enigmatic, extremely long lasting space faring Race stumbles across a modest life bearing terrestrial world via unmanned probes. Dubbing the planet an incomprehensible, long forgotten name, one of the Race's more meager observation vessels is placed in permanent orbit around the planet to further observe the developing world's progress, document its exotic flora and fauna, as well as serve as a beacon for potential 'manned forays' unto the planet itself. Care is taken by the race to ensure that their efforts at observation did not affect the subject planet. Geological as well as extraterrestrial cataclysmic events were merely watched with the cold, uncaring eyes of sensors of the 10 km in diameter vessel. 65.552 Ma. - Predicting that the dominant species' on the planet had reached their evolutionary apex and noting no inclinations of sentience in sight, the order is given for the planet to be consolidated and terraformed into a potential colony world of the Race. The first of several 'manned' vessels leave the Race's home systems, inbound towards the orbital observation vessel. 65.551 Ma. - A terrible, incomprehensible war is started by Xenu, the self-styled Dictator of the fledgling, primitive, but powerful 'Galactic Confederacy'. The war would last millions of years, culminating in innumerable battles, destroyed planets and galaxy wide extinction events. Xenu would ultimately fail in his plot for domination, but would succeed in effectively ending all sufficiently advanced life for millions of years to come, including that of the Race. 65.501 Ma. - Lost in the cacophony of war, the first of several picket vessels of the Race reach the observation vessel. Unaware of the terrible fate to befall their civilization, the scientists, surveyors, and colonists of the Race first sent a thousand years prior begin planetfall, establishing tiny enclaves from which they would await reinforcements. These soon to be last surviving members of the Race have not received word of the fate of the galaxy at large, and are thus unprepared for the fleet sent by Xenu and onslaught it would unleash. 65.500001 Ma. - The Xenian warfleet breaks into orbit around the terrestrial planet. Queries and overtures by the Race to the Xenians are met with weapons fire. The Observation vessel, while the least of its kind and hopelessly outnumbered, still possessed the advanced technology of the Race and began returning fire with the meager weapons it had installed. Many Xenian vessels are destroyed, with the wreckage headed tragically towards the surface of the treasured planet beneath them. 65.500001 Ma. + 1 day - The last Xenian vessel succeeds in mortally wounding the observation vessel, which was forced to continue orbiting the planet until it could facilitate the extraction of those who belonged to the Race still present on its surface. Unable to escape or prevent its own destruction, the vessel terminates the last Xenian ship in its death throes before it begins its long spiral towards the planet. 65.5 Ma. - The observation vessel breaks up in orbit, with the largest piece falling in what would later be dubbed the Chicxulub Crater by the planet's eventual inhabitants. What is now known as the K-Pg extinction event wipes out most what is presently called 'dinosaurs'. Surviving members of the Race exist only in tiny, isolated pockets on the surface of the battered planet Earth. 65.5 Ma. - Cenozoic Era begins. 65.5 Ma. - 0 A.D. - Life continues on its present course, with many members of the Race still on the planet committing themselves to fate and dieing. Fewer still remain on the planet and subtly influence the course of the dominant species on Earth, Homo Sapien, into what it would become, in secret. With many survivors choosing to die over the Millenia, a sole individual would put in motion a series of events that would shape humanity into what it would become. 0 B.C - 2033 A.D. - Life on Earth progresses as normal. 2033 A.D. - A non-descript nation-state of pan-racial composition creates a motion to move into space. A member of a continental economic, social and military pact, construction begins on three vessels destined to hold each 10,000 individuals held in primitive sleep along with materials to create sustainable living on another planet in relative comfort. The technology is advanced for its time, but still primitive compared to the later Flonyardian exodus. 2059 A.D. - The three vessels are launched at 15% light speed, with provisions for automated systems to take them to the nearby Alpha Centauri star system, dropping beacons in regulated intervals to aid in establishing communications with Earth. The plan would involve the three vessels making a co-ordinated landing on the habitable planet Chiron. 2078 A.D. - A failure in the lead vessel's navigation systems develops. The host state on Earth is forced to assume a total loss of the mission. The immense financial loss and crippling political pressure doom the ambitious state into the halls of forgotten antiquity. 2129 A.D. - Crew members are awoken aboard the colonization vessels to see that they have mistakenly traveled over 40 years longer than planned in the wrong direction. Arriving in the Epsilon Eridani system, the vessels can do nothing as failures compound and separate the helpless carriers to their fates. Awakened crews have no idea where they are or where Earth is thanks to the navigation failures. They are unaware that although many systems were affected by the failure in 2078, the automated beacon deployment system was not. A derelict, inactive path of beacons exist across space towards Epsilon Eridani. 2132 A.D. - The agriculture ship 'Serpentine' crash lands on the planet Kadesh, an ocean world by most accounts with dense jungle growths on existing landmasses and over 80% of the surface being covered in 'water'. It founds the colony along with the science vessel 'Aeon', which managed a relatively soft landing. 6,000 die aboard the Serpentine, with survivors being folded into the Aeon's ranks. 2135 A.D. - The remaining space-borne vessel, the 'Audacious', suffers from years of drifting at sub-light speeds. A larger portion of colonists are roused from cold sleep due to the necessity of making repairs to the ship by cannibalizing the relative abundance of heavy machinery and mining equipment. Existence aboard the 'Audacious' is grueling, with operators forced to place the large vessel in martial law. A strict, draconian temporary government is formed in order to maintain control of the fearful populace aboard the stricken vessel. 2139 A.D. - With resources coming close to dangerously low levels, the Audacious is forced to land on a less than hospitable world - Sheol. A planet made of granite plateaus, mountainous terrain and dangerous tectonic instability in others, it is both a bane and boon to the survivors of the landing. These humans go on to start a colony as well as begin the mining operations their vessel was originally intended for. A majority of human infrastructure on the world would be forced underground in granite dwellings. Forced population programs take effect. 2143 A.D. - Several ecological and genetic tests are self-conducted by the colonists of Kadesh. It is discovered that over 60% of the population aboard the original agriculture ship Serpentine had a mutation leading to psionic potential. Currently dormant, it was projected to potentially manifest in only a few generations. To compound the finding, it was revealed that a large portion of infants were being stillborn or birthed with severe genetic defects - at least in those that maintained close proximity to 'slash and burned' population centers carved out of the exotic jungles. Indeed, it was the jungles themselves that offered protection from the imbalances in the Kadeshi atmosphere. Human populations are forced to move out of cleared areas into the jungles themselves. 2212 A.D. - The Kadeshi people begin to adjust to life within the 'Gardens of Kadesh'. While much of the flora is incompatible for human digestion outright, the exotic plantlife is found to be a veritable treasure trove of pharmaceutical properties. Colonists are able to curb much of the genetic issues faced early on in colonial development, with the psionic genetic markers shifting over to female chromosomes. The result is that psionic potential becomes in almost all cases a purely female trait - still to be developed. 2241 A.D. - The inhabitants of Sheol flourish underground in the more geologically stable regions of the planet. Mining, manufacturing and other heavy industries develop at a rapid pace. Human habitations stretch several kilometers beneath the surface and are ruled solely by a ruling body that takes traits from both a rigid military caste and semi-religious fanaticism. Sheolites take great pride in being the survivors they have shown themselves to be, thriving despite the harsh conditions of both seeding and ruling Sheol. 2245 A.D. - Two events happen that would simultaneously change the course of events in the sleepy Epsilon Eridani system forever - The Kadeshi develop the first sub-light drives in the system and begin a dedicated survey of their own planet. The Sheolites make first contact with a hostile sentient race beneath the surface of their planet. Thermal signatures indicating several million waterborne organisms floating in large 'flocks' are detected by the Kadeshi vessels. Furthermore, it is revealed that Kadeshi oceans are not entirely made up of water - thin layers of a semi-translucent substance previously unknown to man is detected by orbital surveyors, often in close proximity to these 'jelly-fish' beings. On Sheol, humanity runs into a grotesque race it dubs the Squats. Roughly humanoid in shape, omnivorous and aggressive, first contact is made with violence and attacks on human settlements with weapons approximating those of industrial capability. Species wide war is declared, and much of the Sheolite mining and heavy industry still close enough to the surface to be safe is retooled for war. Tragically, humanity proves it is still more than capable of violence, turning the tide in only a few years time. Squats are demonized in Sheolite culture, despite the fact that they attacked after human expansion underground breached the Squat ecosystem in cavernous hive dwellings beneath Sheol. 2248 A.D. - Initial attempts at making contact with the jellies by the Kadeshi colonists are met with disappointment. The creatures are waved away as being nothing but non-sentient shoaling sea creatures. The strange liquid is taken back to human settlements for study and is discovered to have remarkable properties. Dubbed electrafluid, the liquid was found to provide a host of nutrients and life-extension prerequisites necessary to keep a human brain alive. Theoretically, a detached brain could survive indefinitely with a constant supply of the bluish liquid. In addition, it was discovered that if two individuals placed body parts into the same body of fluid, the liquid would connect both individuals neural systems together, allowing them to feel each others thoughts and communicate. Dubbed a neural bus fluid, this discovery had shocking implications for both human and jelly interaction. 2251 A.D. - More than a hundred years have passed since Sheol was claimed by humanity. The Subterranean Wars - brutal, bloody close quarters fights in cavernous caves, human subterranean dwellings and Squat hives reaches a turning point. Humanity begins systematically wiping out the sole indigenous species on Sheol after an aggressive shift in tactics and mandatory conscription of all males as they come of age. Females in Sheolite society are entrusted with industrial, agricultural and combat support roles driving the war machines and transports necessary to bring warriors to battle. Humanity crushes the 'demons from hell' with power armored infantry, brutal hand-to-hand fighting, and repurposed heavy vehicles geared for war. Millions are dead from both sides of the conflict, and sheltered human settlements are created on the surface of the planet. Humanity becomes rigid, steeped in tradition and bloodshed, a martial, hard nosed, unsympathetic people. 2252 A.D. - Kadeshi scientists begin the first attempts at human-jelly interaction using the neural bus called Electrafluid. Fears at having a linguistic boundary are quickly quashed as biologist Dr. Ashley Burke becomes the first human to communicate via bus with the race known as the Seraphim. The two beings are linked with a purely neural network - their subconscious intertwined at such an inate level, superficial linguistic communication is unnecessary. The link is a pure two-way connection - the Seraphim experimented with divulged knowledge of its race, culture and thoughts at an instinctive level while being bombarded with Dr. Burke's both professional and personal hopes, insecurities and dreams. It had seemed than humanity had made a friend with the Seraphim, and soon human and jelly thrived upon Kadesh. Both species soon became attached both emotionally and geologically to the planet they shared. Humanity stuck to the lush, verdant, protective jungles the Seraphim had dubbed the 'Gardens of Kadesh', while their companions remained in the Electrafluid oceans. Kadeshi colonists adopt many of the spirtual traits and mysticism of the Seraphim through repeated mass contact with the creatures. More importantly, the Seraphim introduced a philosophical viewpoint considered unimaginable by human minds, a way of peace and coexistence so advanced that it completely shifted their perception of the universe. It is found that the Seraphim do not advance technologically out of choice - instead enjoying the infinite possibilities constant mental interaction with every member of their species the Electrafluid provides. Humanity comes to love the beauty and esoteric peace found upon Kadesh. One can readily conjure images of this relatively new culture living a monk-like, minimalist lifestyle. Knowing that they can never truly become as interconnected as the Seraphim, humanity learns to embrace technology as a potential medium for interconnectivity, much like the Seraphim and Electrafluid. The average Kadeshi is soft-spoken, modest and internally disciplined. These are necessary traits, as humanity begins to mimic Seraphim culture - a population with intimate awareness of each other, and the teachings promoting a harmonious existence with all. The first indications of psionic activity within the ranks of the Kadeshi soon emerge. Individuals with latent psionic powers are treated just as warmly as their undeveloped brethren in the community, but the Seraphim cannot help but note the general feeling of unease within their human companions due to the appearance of these gifted individuals. The collective harmony created by the Kadeshi and Seraphim remains, however, with only this single sour note spoiling the otherwise beautiful relationship. 2257 A.D. - While the Kadeshi began to flourish, taking the teachings of the Seraphim to nearby planets and moons with them, the Sheolites in turn have wrought total dominance over their harsh planet. A triumphant and proud planet wide state is founded, with a strong military arm dominating much of its dogmatic and harsh culture. Billions of tons of minerals are taken by force from Sheol's fires, and soon human heavy industries on the planet go spaceborne. Immense planetary docks are constructed, from which the first vessels of the Sheolite Armada are developed. The ghosts of the Squats still haunted humanity in hell, and descendants of the colonists on the Audacious are eager to cease living atop the corpse of a destroyed alien civilization. With both factions establishing a strong foothold in Epsilon Eridani, humanity in the system soon forgets about its ancestors back on Earth. Faster than light travel is still not realized, with high speed sub-orbital drives allowing for trips between planets to take weeks or months instead of years. 2339 A.D. - First contact. The 'Children of Kadesh' re-establish contact with the Sheolite Dominion. A single unarmed cruiser of the Kadeshi Expeditionary Fleet comes across combat sensory pings of four Sheolite frigates. Thinking nothing of the weapons bristling from the four crimson and black colored warships, the golden Kadeshi ship transmits a simple message: The descendants of two long forgotten colony vessels now call themselves the Children of Kadesh, and invite their brothers and sisters to join them and embrace the teachings of a wise alien culture they have befriended - to share in something beautiful. Dominion vessels, with the haunting memory of the Squats on their crews' minds and harsh Xenophobia ingrained in their military's culture open fire at once. The Kadeshi vessel is heavily damaged despite taking several blows that would have otherwise destroyed a Dominion ship of similar size. With the Kadeshi owning a significant technological advantage over the Dominion due to part of its heritage with the original Aeon colony ship, the cruiser manages to evade destruction and return to a nearby Kadeshi fleet resupply outpost. News quickly spreads about the Dominion attack, and the Kadeshi leadership castes back on the homeplanet are at pains to determine the next course of action. Back on Sheol, word spreads about the infestation of fellow human beings by nightmarish Xenos. The ruling party of the Dominion summarily declares war on their neighbours in the system. The Sheolites begin rousing the might of their relatively small empire of a handful of worlds. Mass production of various extra-planetary invasion implements begins with the sole intent of purging the 'Kadeshi Xenophiles' from the system in order to safeguard the human race from continued corruption. 2340 A.D. - The Sheolite Dominion releases a system wide burst transmission from its Central fleet staging and communications hub only a short distance from Sheol. Tartarus station emits an open declaration of war and demands the unconditional surrender of the Kadeshi fleets as well as the location of the Kadeshi homeworld so that occupation by Dominion forces can begin. With no intention of receiving any surrender, the Dominion fleet flies out in force, scanning the system for Kadeshi signals and planets potentially harboring Kadeshi or Xeno-life. It is the largest show of force from the Dominion, with heavy battle tanks, artillery, and armored personnel being deployed from gigantic dreadnoughts, battleships and carriers. 2340 A.D. - Unbeknownst to the Dominion, the Kadesh also have several vessels of their own, although none have been designed with combat in mind. In a panic, the Kadesh resort to hastily converting their otherwise beautiful vessels into warships with advanced laser-based weaponry derived from navigation implements. Golden hulled vessels normally adorned with beautiful, picturesque scenes depicting the Seraphim/Kadesh history become reluctant combat vessels in defense of the homeworld, which lies in the direct path of the Dominion advance. Emissaries are sent further into Kadeshi controlled territory to rally colonial assets and prepare them for inevitable conflict. With every intent to do anything in their power to protect the planet and the vulnerable Seraphim that reside on it, the Kadeshi form 'the Aeon Illuminate' with the intent of opposing Dominion militancy and neutralizing its invasion. The databanks of the preserved Serpentine and Aeon colony ships are scoured for any blueprints, historical data or technology that had been previously overlooked by the peaceful Kadesh. Innovations and concepts that would have otherwise been deemed barbaric, or "uncooperative with the harmonious existence of the Kadeshi Way" are soon turned to as potential saviors. 2344 A.D. - A small picket force of Dominion vessels come across a two-ship Illuminate patrol over the planet Siscerbis I. Dominion frigates deploy from the force in a flanking maneuver while the heavier Dominion cruisers open up with carefully programmed volleys of railgun and hypersonic missile fire. The Aeon battlecruiser 'Jubilant' emits a burst transmission to the Kadeshi homeworld for reinforcements before it is engaged, tragically revealing the planet's location to the Dominion vanguard. The Jubilant then displays its formidable technological prowess by engaging Dominion vessels with powerful beam weapons, as well as mitigating a super majority of the inbound Dominion ordinance with smaller point defense lasers. Dominion tenacity and sheer willpower soon begin to change the course of the battle, however. Noting that the Illuminate warship was quickly building up heat to prohibitive levels, Dominion forces quickly surmised that the golden vessel would soon be unable to fire unless it extended its heat radiation systems. More and more ordinance was directed at the vessel in an attempt to overheat its weapons. The second golden ship had remained silent during the pitched battle, and was simply disregarded as a noncombatant vessel. They were wrong. Just as the Jubilant showed signs of being unable to fire, the second Illuminate craft opened up with a savage psionic attack, wiping out the Dominion flanking force of frigates in its emission. The second vessel was revealed to be merely a capsule of Electrafluid, within it several hundred psionically trained warrior Priestesses powering its slow to fire weapon. Before the Dominion cruisers could move to counter this new threat, dozens of capsules were launched from it towards Dominion lines. Several were intercepted by the missile and ballistic based point defenses aboard the Dominion vessels, but several more would survive to crash in devastating explosive detonations, and others succeeding in boarding a number of Dominion warships. It would be the first time both Dominion and Illuminate humans would be face to face - an a terrible reunion it would be. Each boarding party consisted of a trained psionic Priestess and a cadre of dedicated, fanatically loyal Aeon warriors. Where experience was lacking came dosages of combat stimulants harvested from the Gardens of Kadesh. Each man was a zealot empowered by a cocktail of psychostimulants, powered armor and hand held artillery rivaling that of the Dominion. Behind them was a telekinetic storm of frightening psionic energy embodied in the form of a delicate looking, but none the less deadly Kadeshi female. Several warships would fall to these boarding parties, even as the Jubilant and its accompanying carrier were destroyed. Dominion forces would witness the terrifying sight of the newest fighting force in the Epsilon Eridani system, and gape in horror at the fanatical zeal they held should they be close to defeat. Each party had orders to hinder the Dominion's advance at any cost, with injured or dieing Priestesses destroying the minds and bodies of themselves, their caretakers and Dominion security personnel and crew members in a suicidal overload of their psychic rage. 2345 A.D. - Despite the ferocious defense of the Illuminate Armada in the face of the Dominion Warfleet, the Sheolites had finally reached their target destination of Kadesh. With reinforcements from Kadeshi colonies still in transit, the Dominion vessels paid a heavy cost to destroy or beat back the Illuminate defenders orbiting the planet. Sheolite marauders began a campaign of rapid dominance, destroying as much of the Gardens of Kadesh as they could before Illuminate reinforcements arrived. Inadvertent interfaces between Sheolite warriors and electrafluid would happen many times during this campaign, despite Kadeshi ground forces pitched efforts to hold out. 2347 A.D. - Arrival of Illuminate warships, the first of their kind specifically built for battle would arrive along with repurposed brethren to utterly destroy the Dominion fleet in orbit. Raining debris would ruin much of the picturesque surface of Kadesh, despite efforts centuries later at recovery, clean up and reclamation. Kadesh would be safe for now as the Dominion resorted to licking its wounds and consolidating gains made in their initial advance. It would be a respite where the Children of Kadesh would experience the true horrors of war. 2348 A.D. - The Seraphim on Kadesh simultaneously ceased all attempts at communication via Electrafluid with humanity on Kadesh. At first surmising this disturbance to be a result of the trauma inflicted by the Sheolites on the planets surface, or the Dominion wrecks that rested in the midst of Seraphim coalescences in the Electrafluid oceans, Kadeshi survivors merely tended to their wounds, rebuilding from a terrible war and preparing themselves for renewed onslaughts to come. 2349 A.D. - In a feat previously thought impossible by both Kadeshi citizens and Illuminate forces, mass exoduses of Seraphim organisms occur seemingly right under humanity's collective noses on the planet. Soon, the planet is rendered completely devoid of the mysterious creatures to the anguish of human survivors on the planet, with only strange quantum disturbances being detected beneath the surface of the oceans. More ominously, however, is the absence of any and all Sheolite technology that previously riddled the ocean floor amidst the fragile ecosystems the Seraphim previously inhabited. Suspecting the work of Dominion military science. The Children of Kadesh, seemingly alone and barred from any further guidance from their Seraphim patrons go on the rampage. Human priestesses and seers headed by female members of the Burke lineage become the defacto ruling caste of the newly formed Aeon Illuminate, which filled the void the Seraphim left. United under a single banner, Kadesh and the rest of its colonies begin a renewed effort to bring themselves to combat readiness. All alone in a pool of Electrafluid, reigning Priestess, Princess Miranda Burke forsees a vision of horror amidst her meditations- a vision of a galaxy torn apart, entire systems stripped of resources and left to die, planets destroyed and more life needlessly lost than could ever be imagined. The Priestess had come to realize that the Seraphim had left humanity with all the tools it needed to ascend to a new plane of existence, of love and peace, and that the bloodthirsty Sheolite Dominion stood in its way. The Aeon Illuminate had become the only means to prevent the Dominion from destroying everything in existence. Both empires expand tenfold amidst the growing advances of both factions and fervent desire to complete their goals. Pitched brushfire wars spread throughout Epsilon Eridani and neighbouring colonized systems with hundreds of thousands of lives lost in both space and the planets beneath them. Both sides had become thoroughly convinced the other was not human, and both had resolved not to allow the other to exist so long as they lived. Throughout the distant void of space, and raided worlds, not a single human would ever come across the mysterious Seraphim. Soon, the Aeon would fight for the enigmatic jellyfish-beings in name only. They too, would eventually become lost to the halls of forgotten antiquity. When the Dominion initiated the genocide of the Seraphim on their homeworld, it created an indelible scar upon their psyche. An etching was created upon every Aeon citizen in all the following centuries to exact retribution upon their enemy and assume their rightful place in the galaxy. Through the teachings of the Burke dynasty, it would become resolved to stopping prophecy from fulfilling itself. 3012 A.D. - The conflict known as the Infinite War continues to rage between the Aeon Illuminate and Sheolite Dominion. Both sides commit horrific atrocities in the name of their ideologies. There is no room for respite or peace for one so long as the other survives.
13. All i'm gonna say is Xenu did it.
14. If it was even, then it should not have been set either way expand the poll or discussion until one side cleanly wins. As it stands, even landing a contested expeditionary force in enemy territory will entitle you to full SDI coverage 'so long as it's RPed'. How easy is it to wikipedia a few TEL or TELAR mounted ABM systems and copy paste a few in your deployments? Pretty easy. There should, at the very least, be a penalty to the standard SDI success rate in the case of expeditionary forces. Still going to say there should not be coverage at all in enemy territory.
15.
MA...Millions of years?
Yup. The Race's observation ship crashing to earth created the Chixhulub crater and destroyed the dominant species on Earth. If I'm referencing 0 BC as the time the last member of the Race dies, who am I implying that is?

17. Working on getting something together. Here's what I have so far. 65.5 Ma. - 0 B.C. Thermal signatures indicating several million waterborne organisms floating in large 'flocks' are detected by the Kadesh. It is found that the Seraphim do not advance technologically out of choice - enjoying the infinite possibilities constant mental interaction with every member of their species the Electrafluid provides. These are necessary traits, as humanity begins to mimic Seraphim culture - a population intimate awareness of each other, and the teachings promoting a harmonious existence with all. Emissaries are sent further into Kadesh controlled territory to rally colonial assets and prepare them for inevitable conflict. 2352 A.D. - With its forces at all time highs, the Aeon Illuminate once again sent emissaries to worlds the Dominion had captured. As the Aeon’s visions predicted, the Dominion immediately cut communications and sent military forces to quarantine them. In the eyes of the Aeon, the Dominion’s destiny as defilers and destroyers of worlds was sealed. 2354 A.D. - Both Illuminate and Dominion forces rapidly mobilize for protracted conflict. 18. Ehhh... Executive Minister has learned that troll voting is bad when democracy is concerned. Switch me over to Kankou/Zoot.
19. I genuinely believe that Kankou and TBM are the GMs, not that CNRP deserves, but the ones that it needed.
20. Unmolested SDI coverage of invasion forces in a victims own land is stupid. Like if you agr- whoops. A tie should not default to one or the other. We need an expansion of that sub rule.
21.
Haha, it's fine man. Like I said, do whatever, if you want to RP an empire spanning a good portion of the galaxy, go for it. There are no limits, except for CN Forums rules. If you want you can stick to your nation's stats and stuff, it can be more fun. And I know the feel.
Hmmmm...
22. Can I have two planets? Must I RPG my civilization's very beginnings, or jump straight into a fully developed planetwide metropolis world? Apologies if I seem trolly or unnecessarily difficult I am trying to gauge a rough idea against this seeming unlimited freedom. Im like a dog that's been chasing cars and has finally caught one.
