  1. Well, given OBR's rigorous standards, and the fact that the OBR Kingdom (unless there's an actual term for it) spans three AAs, and OBR is the top alliance of that set, and (as far as I can tell and remember) all of OBR itself is fond of RPing, which tends to increase cohesion... All of that adds up to that kind of stability, in my mind.
  2. I think OBR probably has the best chance at this survivor, since I imagine that they don't have a lot of turnover.

Congratulations all! Special mention to Mushroom Kingdom for breaking into the ranks of the Sanctioned Alliances while daring to avoid sanction requirements. Special mention also to Ragnarok for passing Tier Barrier 1, with the fourth-highest gain of the month. Commonwealth Of Sovereign Nations and RnR both gain 20 members this month, while Monos Archein drops in the rankings, losing 47 members. Congratulations to The Order Of Light, who attained Sanctioned status, taking over The Democratic Order's former spot. The Order of Light's takeover may also spell doom for some lower ranked alliances, particularly Umbrella and Monos Archein, as both have generally a generally downward trend, and are being threatened by a now growing Drop Line. Finally, congratulations to New Sith Order for rejoining the race just in time to make it on the monthly update. Shoutout goes my classes this semester, for leaving me with little to no homework and time to do this. Two hours and forty-five minutes of time (that was, admittedly, filled with a few other things). Edits: Fixed italics on CSN, Invicta, and MA, and fixed the last line so that Umbrella won't be threatened with a double serving of doom. ---------- Related Links: Stats By Unspeakable Evil Tournament Edition Sanction Race How To Update the Amazing Sanction Race Sanction Race Update Creator spreadsheet: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pFd...rmXWQ&hl=en [/update]
  5. I'm going to do an official monthly update now, as opposed to the survivor race update. May take a while, as this will be my first time with it - but I'll do my best.
  6. They're not neutral, they're independent! Heh heh... I like Delta's idea, any alliance with a negative score is dropped. Any score over .15, or .20, or .25... etc. gives immunity?
  7. Since I saw the comment that some of the alliances in the bottom quarter probably gained more than some of the early leavers, I thought I'd go through and figure out how much each alliance has grown since the beginning of the race, using the stats from this update. Here it is: Overall Growth XX. New Sith Order 13.65 --> 13.22 (-0.43) --------------- 33. Monos Archein : 19.49 --> 16.13 (-3.36) 32. The Grämlins : 20.22 --> 19.91 (-0.31) 31. Please correct any bad math - 3:00 AM is not the best time for that sort of thing. Enjoy!
  8. Happiness gives a base income of $2, NOT taxes of $2. You can expect to get 60 cents for each happiness point. On top of that, when you have the right improvements, $1 of income comes out to $2.08 (banks, schools, etc). So one happiness equals $4.16 (closer to $4.15 when you do more accurate calculations, I think). Finally, environment affects happiness, so the discrepancy between the $1.24 that you should get and the $1.23 you are getting comes from the imperfect environment that GRL gives us. EDIT: Should I take my explanation down cause I'm not a Grämlin?
  9. I don't know, we've got a fair amount of nations that need to re-arm their nuclear weapons, which will add more and more strength every day, since we'll be throwing them on top of more and more nukes. I can see IRON taking Survivor - thanks to surrender terms, no less...
  10. As a normal member, I can already see the difference - we dropped quite a number of deadweight/disloyal nations early on, and while that's bound to rise again, it's nice to see what our core strength is. The guys who are in IRON right now are a lot more likely to be lost to RL than to another alliance at this point. It has also reaffirmed my confidence in our economic base - we were able to rebuild up to Fark's non-military level, and are approaching ODN - with our military, I believe we'll outrank both, statistically - not that the pixels are that important, just that I've been shown we can make up for lost ground pretty quickly. Also, it would be AWESOME if people could just chill and have a good time. I see Fark being forced to defend themselves against us - except we're not fighting them at all, it's others arguing on our behalf. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the support, but what we're arguing about is history now - with the exception of the argument about whether OOC terms are appropriate, which seems to be over. I say, PARTY TIME! B)
  11. I really appreciate the frankness at the top of this post. Obviously, I have a different opinion on how things happened during terms, being from IRON as opposed to Fark. But I'm glad that it is all out, in the public, and is something we can truly leave behind and walk away from. May our future dealings be pleasant!
  12. I'd be interested to see the top 5% stat collected again after those who are currently under surrender terms are out. IRON gets out in a few days, so our nations that are just under the mark may pass it while remilitarizing. NPO is on here though, and I wonder what kind of presence they'll have in however many months when they finish surrender terms.
  13. I was just thinking that - if I didn't know who was brown and who was maroon, all I could say is that brown and maroon together have five alliances in the sanction race.
  14. Ah. I don't think the tech is fed to him for free - he is a councilor and does a lot of stuff for the alliance. But yes, he does get a lot of tech.
  15. 1,152 days, the first two months of which I had no idea of what was REALLY going on.
  16. Erm... I don't think we did. Matt Miller is pretty level-headed and doesn't get himself into any trouble outside of what IRON as a whole gets. Unless of course you're referring to military support during war, in which case I suppose we have, but we tend to try to do that for everyone. Or I misread the question, and it's suggesting that one alliance should invest in a nation like Matt's to make them as strong as possible? Gonna have to side with Bleda on that one. It's not sound strategy to simply invest in those top nations, and not have them give back at all. It cuts down on the growth of the younger nations too much. Matt got the top spot on CN because IRON wasn't involved in the first three great wars - he's always been a huge supporter of building up smaller nations. Either way, an alliance shouldn't put so much focus on one nation without a REALLY good reason.
  17. We're done with terms at that point... and roughly 500 nations rearming all at the same time... well, I'm looking forward to it anyway.
  18. If you're going to include people who exist/have existed, I'd make sure that you get their permission, as well as run by them what's going on in your story. In particular, I'm thinking of Ivan here, since he exists, and could tell you in a few words simply whether your depiction of him is more or less accurate.
  19. Well, it was the best we could do with advanced warning that we were facing roughly 3 to 1 odds... Besides, I gotta say that most of my enemies knew what they were doing, and for the first half of the war, that was Fark. 3 to 1, when you're the one, is hard to fight off ESPECIALLY when your enemies know the drill. So given all that, I like to think we did pretty well.
  20. The score of the top 5 alliances on each color (with a couple exceptions) were taken down at the beginning of the month. Daily results are the difference from yesterday, while general classification is the difference from the initial score. Each color's alliances combine to make up that color's score. It's a race, essentially - in a couple days, the winner will be announced, both for the alliance that has gained the most since the beginning, and for the color that has gained the most. I think I remembered everything... it took me a couple days to figure out exactly what everything was.
  21. I remember when they were introduced, someone suggested a 5 point gap for sanctioned alliances and a 1.25 gap for unsanctioned alliances, to put the tiers there. Since the tiers were (at least at first) an idea to show who was close to passing who at a glance, a system something like that seems to make sense to me, whether it's using those numbers or not. I've been lurking around this thread for weeks now...
  22. There would be almost no incentive for tech growth. Money can be put towards infrastructure, which will eventually pay itself off many times over. But if a nation receives 50 tech, and NPO is required to send off 100, every tech deal that NPO does could lose the alliance exactly as much tech as they would normally gain. That's not necessarily a bad thing, from Karma's standpoint, but it makes sense to point that out. Tech can only be produced through tech farming unless you want to pay copious amounts of money for it - money is produced every day, and as has been mentioned, is hardly worth accepting once a nation is at 4k or 5k infrastructure. Therefore, a 3 mil/50 tech farm would cost the buyer 9 mil (if the individual nations involved here were responsible) for 50 tech, while giving the tech seller the profit of a 3 mil/150 tech deal. There's still potential for tech growth there... but as 3 mil/100 tech or 3 mil/50 tech deals are far more standard, it would work far better for a small nation to leave the alliance. Perhaps the manner in which the reps are paid could be adjusted? Instead of paying every aid cycle, rebuilding aid could be kept track of for 6 months, let's say. Rebuilding, tech farms, whatever. The tech amounts would be recorded throughout. Once the 6 months are up, the tech totals are calculated, and then paid like normal reps - the NPO would have an easier time paying them this way, since they'd be given totals once, and they could simply tech farm that amount. The money could be kept track of the same way, or paid as is suggested in the OP. I recognize that waiting that long for reps would be a risk, and that Karma alliances aren't likely to want to take up that risk, but it would also increase that chance that NPO would buy more tech, and therefore give the Karma alliances more tech in the end. It would also make organizing the payment of reps exactly like it's done now, while leaving the amount of reps to be paid to be determined by the process in the OP.
  23. I took my first nuke in the FAN war, literally days after my nation's birthday, took my next several in UJW, and I think I counted 17 so far in this war.
  24. Technically speaking, no one actually owns their nation. Admin owns the game and everything in it. If he takes this game off the internet, for whatever reason, there's no possible way to get compensation for "loss of property". Even when you consider your nation a piece of property, the only piece that others cannot eliminate is the shell. The absolute bare minimum of your nation. No matter how much it's attacked, it won't go away as long as the user wants it. Anything above and beyond that bare minimum is fair game for anyone who wants to try and take it - hence alliances, which help defend you against people who may want to take your tech, destroy your infra, and whatever else. I have never heard of one alliance completely removing another alliance from the game. Never. The most I've ever heard of was the government of an alliance put on PZI. And in most PZI cases, if the leader re-rolls and takes a new direction once they come back, they're taken off the list. Sometimes they don't even need to take a new direction - re-rolling is enough. That being said, I think there is something to be said for disliking forms of ZI. ZI itself, singular ZI, I believe is fine. PZI, as long as the distinction that a change of character is made, is also fine. That's the interpretation IRON takes, or at least I can point out some precedence for that decision. EZI (in my opinion) crosses the IC/OOC line. IRON does not have an EZI, for anyone who's wondering. The problem with attacking forums is that it has the potential to cause real damage. You aren't losing money when your nation is destroyed - you aren't losing money when your game forum goes down - but if the server the forum is on has any sort of business normally, every hour it is down, especially during high-traffic times, can cost them money. EZI sucks a lot, but the potential byproducts of a DDoS attack are a lot worse than being excluded from an internet game. I think it would be best for this thread if we don't bring up points from the beginning of this thread that have already been discussed. I can't stop you, but one continuing conversation seems healthier than constant, fairly unimportant, interruptions.
  25. Having been part of one of those meatshields in the past, NPO recruited meatshields that knew they would end up being meatshields, or at least in our case. I remember very specifically in an announcement on our forums just prior to the UJW, or perhaps just after it began, warning all of us that we were essentially the meatshield for the ~ side. This was very explicitly stated. Being recruited under the pretense of "Come and buy nukes!" or whatever was on that video makes it pretty different, as they came in expecting to start building up, and instead ended up in a war.
