Oh, I so understand A Lone Stranger's frustration. I'm in no way a fan of "tech raids" either. You have my respect. I would like to point out, however, that there are probably alliances that are not in Karma that allow tech raids (ok - so I didn't count but I'd be surprised if I'm wrong). So would you defend NPO if a non-Karma alliance member were to tech raid too? Just wondering - we're not taking a stand in The Karma War.

What is "organically CN" and what is exceptional is created by ourselves, as a collective community, and not by something outside of our control as the group at large. Although it is true that "getting raided is the normal cost of choosing not to be in [a medium size or protected] alliance" - that does not mean it has to be that way. I'm not arguing (right now) that it's fair or unfair, just that as the community of Planet Bob we have the power to make the rules about what is normal and what is not. Admin does not say "thou shalt" or "thou shalt not" raid the unaligned. (Thank admin )

In my opinion, The Revenge Doctrine was one of the smart moves by NPO. Notice, I didn't say "ethical" or "moral" - but smart. Most of the reasons why have already been mentioned in one form or another. Personally, and as an alliance leader, thus far I've supported most of the policies that are considered "moral" by CN standards. However every time I have thought about what position to take, I've considered the growth potential for US from a rather selfish perspective in addition to altruistic reasons. Believe it or not, they often match. The best deals (either written or unwritten) are win-win.

I object to EZI. And if such thing as "reincarnation" did exist, the last thing I'd want as an alliance leader is to have some "reincarnated" enemy leading who knows what country and doing who knows what to try and get revenge. I'd rather any enemy (especially large enough to earn such a sentence) remain known to me. That way I at least have some idea where he or she is and what he or she is doing.

This is an excellent point made by the representative of Neo Olympia. If a nations leaders chose not to develop nuclear weapons, they are arguably taking a military risk. I appreciate and support a "no first strike clause" but also wonder if anything can be done to encourage and/or support nations whose leadership decides not to develop nuclear weapons? I don't have any particular answer in mind. I am interested in others opinions and an exchange of ideas on this matter.

If not us, then personally I can vouch for the following (in no particular order) as being cool: The Light Brigade REC URSA (Unified Royal States Alliance) Coalition of Royal Allied Powers (CRAP) I'm sure there are other good smaller groups out there, I just don't know any of their membership very well enough to say.

Here is the basics from our constitution: United Under Scorn Constitution (US) Preamble: We, the Nations of the United under Scorn (US), hereby pledge our commitment to peace for every nation. We will not attack you and you do not attack one of us, regardless of later affiliation. 4. To expect diplomatic, financial and military support in the event that the member nation is attacked without provocation. 5. To be eligible to receive aid after 10 days of membership. The amount of aid may vary depending on alliance resources. 6. To be eligible to run or be appointed to a leadership position after one month of membership as the positions become available. (We do currently have positions available) 7. After one month of membership, to be eligible for additional shared aid as available. When the alliance provides aid, the alliance reserves the right to require the nation receiving the aid to sometimes spend it in a particular fashion if accepted. You are correct. We prefer to avoid war if at all possible, and our decision not to follow a nuclear path in the long term (small alliances often do not have the ability regardless when starting out) is testament to that fact. We've discussed the issue as a group at length. I understand (and admire) alliances that have a no first strike policy. On the other hand, nukes do a great deal of damage in lives and destruction, effect us all if used in mass via the environment, and cost a great deal. Perhaps we will reconsider the nuclear issue when it becomes a real option for our alliance. However, at this point I'd like to point out the following: I never said that our Protectorate alliance also has the same policy That's all for now as it's arguable this is off topic. We're open to comments on our forum on the issue and I appreciate your point and thank you for your concern.
