  1. Regardless of who is on which side of this current conflict, I would just like to mention that it is a pleasure to see the resurfacing of so many faces I recognise; some rising like Lazarus.

I wish you, individually and collectively, good fortune in your endeavours. Not that I desire to see one side triumph ove the other, but because as this thread has demonstrated, the war needs the appropirate mixture of intelligence and entertainment.

  2. NO! Hold on Doitzel! jeff774 and I were making CN Influence Medals, for people who we on this forum believe make or made the game better in incredible ways. We want you to have the first one as an honor!

Why not just call the Medal (Award) 'The Doitzel'. I'm sure that would be sufficient honour under the circumstances.

  3. I don't plan on retiring with some grandiose speech about how strong alliances are evil and how the rest of CN needs to rise up against them...I'll either be going out in a blaze of fire and brimstone, or in silence.

You would be surprised how far a little bit of silence will spread, particularly when it is mixed with humility.

  4. It is unfortunate that many of the more entertaining personalities are departing from this existence.

Rebel Virginia was one of those select band of posters who made the big boards a better read. Love him, loath him, agree or disagree with him, at least he would commit to his particular brand of view and opinion, without having to resort to the mundane.

Farewell, Rebel Virginia. I am disappointed that I did not get to know you better IC and OOC, as then I many have earned the right to call you 'RV'.

  5. "POP!"

A slight ringing remained in *W_A_R's ears after the shift in air pressure. Something was amiss; an uncomfortable feeling started to gnaw at his neck and shoulders, so much so that he no longer wanted to sit under the well canopied oak looking over the valley below.

W_A_R's joints objected as he slowly found his feet and stretched. The air carried the scent of wildflowers and the hill upon which he stood was carpeted in many hues of their blooms. The sunlight caught his eyes causing him to sneeze twice before he was able to bring his attention to bear. At least the ringing had stopped.

A rider broke out from the treeline below and was now angling towards him. W_A_R touched the hilt of his sword, Venom, shifting his stance to one of readiness. A banner fluttered from the lance of the closing rider and W_A_R eased slightly as he recognised the Vijari messenger insignia embroidered upon the cloth. "This will be bad news" he thought as he rubbed his shoulder, the tightness of his muscles foreshadowing the man on horseback.

The rider broached the crest of the hill and the lathered mount slowed to a walk, then stopped as the messenger slipped from his saddle. He drew a bound parchment from a saddle bag and presented it to W_A_R. "An urgent message for you, my lord!" he gasped.

"Thank you, rider" said W_A_R as he took the message from his hand. "There is water, cheese and hard biscuit in the bags beneath the tree. Please help yourself while I read this."

The parchment sprang open as W_A_R slipped off the ribbon tying it. The message was short in content but long in meaning. "Damn!" he muttered forcefully. Schattenmann had taken his own life. "What damnable thing would drive him to do that?".

Never far from controversy, Schattenmann had possessed a sharp mind and a quick tongue. He never could stand being idle (as W_A_R had just been) and had a propensity to find himself in varying degrees of hot water.

"You will be missed, Schatts.... in many ways."

He rolled up the message and walked back to the tree to share some food before preparing for his return to the Black Keep.

    :(

  6. I feel disappointed that I didn't have the time to get to know you better both IC and OOC. I enjoyed your posts in the main, whether I agreed or disagreed with the points you were making at the time. Your flamboyant personality will be missed from this world.

On the matter of perma-ZI, it is a detested practice and only Admin and his support should be able to wield that blunt instrument in 'banning' an individual from the game.

There be dragons, indeed. May they always be with you.

  7. *Page W_A_R distributes scrolls to the assembled dignitaries, smiling as he does so. He notices one particularly striking woman in the crowd and catches her eye. She smiles demurely and W_A_R smiles warmly back. He side-steps several people in an endeavour to reach her but a broad-shouldered ODN ambassador inadvertently blocks his progress.

W_A_R looks across and sees that Page Diz had reached the woman and managed to offer her a scroll. She offers the newest OBR Page thanks and is interupted by another dignitary who leads her away to a group of ambassadors in discussion. She looks over her shoulder briefly as if looking for someone, and then returns her attention to the conversation at hand.

A hand touches W_A_R's left shoulder lightly and he turns quickly in surprise, only to find his old friend Machiabelly. They embrace (in a manly way) clapping each others' back. W_A_R grins broadly and talks with his friend of many things but his thoughts occasionally stray to the woman he saw earlier, hoping that fate may provide him with a chance to see her again.

  8. The sheeting rain sweeps the Black Keep, splattering against the impervious granite which yields nothing but the dust and grime of days past. A lone figure stands at the western battlement, a hood covering his face, a cape wetly clinging around his shoulders.

His hands gripped the cold, wet stone of the Keep, its solidness offering reassurance, a sense that certain values and principles will endure long after mortal man has passed. It had been a dark and dreary day and this was not only due to the weather. Sir Experimentum, Knight I of the Black Rose, had gone to embrace the solace that only old warriors could find on the other side of this life, joining Sir Fonzoland, Sir Necrostopheles and Sir EvilCartyen.

Sir Ex's hulking frame and gruff nature would be missed. His bellows of camaraderie would no longer fill the Rocking Rose Tavern. His astute mind would never again focus on the minutiae of the Order. It was a loss difficult to bear.

The gloom of early evening slowly crept across the landscape. Looking into the adjoining town square, Page W_A_R noticed the lights from the Rocking Rose Tavern. The doors swung open as a seaman reeled out into the street and the sounds of the boisterous customers escaped the confines of the tavern's warm interior.

"Some good company and a tankard or two of ale wouldn’t go astray at a time like this" muttered W_A_R to the ancient stone as he turned and started down the battlement steps.

    Farewell, Sir Ex.

    EDIT - strange punctuation transferrence.

  9. *Page W_A_R of Vijar grins broadly despite his weariness.

The past few days have been busy for those of the Black Rose Order but to see our friends in the Greenland Republic celebrate their achievements gladdens our hearts and revives our flagging spirits.

Congratulations! We are pleased to count the Greenland Republic as one of our closest friends. May you celebrate many more achievements and play a role in making this world a better and more humanitarian place.

*Page W_A_R of Vijar toasts with a tankard of refreshing Vijari ale.

    To the Greenland Republic!

    To Celtic!

To Her Majesty Queen AterAtra, the Black Rose!

  10. I know many of the folk in Alpha Omega, good sorts by and large, with a well rounded appreciation of carrot cake.

I hope and trust that only good things come from this firming of relationships between The Order of the Paradox and Alpha Omega.

Tonight the Vijari bakeries will work longer so that ample supplies of our carrot cake can be distributed to the celebrating citizens of AO and TOP.

  11. Joined NONE through "affiliate" status that involved him in internal discussion and military coordination and planning.

With respect Bakunin's Dream, you are very persistent in pushing that line of argument, to the point where you must be a believer in the hoary old adage that repeating something often enough makes it becomes true.

Too many Alliances continue to drag the corpse of Walford out of his grave and chew over his bones to keep the taste fresh in their mouths. Often I have heard the very same Alliances to say that Walford was an incompetent and became a laughing stock. This just then drives me to ask "What do you have to fear?" Is the ghost of Walford the best bogeyman that can be dragged out? Surely not.

I have had much to do with NEAT in an ambassadorial regard and I have found them to be courteous and peaceful. Never aggressive and never Anti-Orders. I have no doubt that the general membership of AHEAD could be considered in the same light.
