For the latter, it depends on if you count an information program as a program "that provide advantages towards other users" I'd be nice to get some clarification from admin on this.

I agree. I think some kind of upkeep cost for tech would make a lot more sense that increases exponentially with tech like infra does.

Also work on starting to get wonders, with a stock market as your first one. Starting Labor Camp swapping should be your first priority. Buy labor camps, collect enough to be able to pay bills for 3-4 days, then stop collecting. Pay bills for 3-4 days until you are out of money (except what you might need to swap in income improvements), then wait another day, destroy the labor camps, and collect, then buy back Labor Camps and pay bills for that day, rinse and repeat, and when you start having money at the end of your cycles, use it at the end of your cycles. Normally cycles last about 7-15 days. Then your first order of business after getting cycles going is saving up for the Stock Market and getting tech deals.

Life isn't fair. While anyone can do well with poor resources if they try hard enough, it's much easier if you have good resources, especially resources that are part of the standard 12 trade best set. I have Iron/Lumber and have never had to worry about my trades, easily getting into trade circles soon after my nation was created and then again when I changed colors. The only time I ever deal with trades is when I'm giving temp trades to half a dozen people in my alliance who rely on me for it, or when I get one temp trade to buy infra. So yea, anyone can succeed, but some have to try a lot harder than others. Such is life.

While it doesn't make a lot of sense, it improves game play by creating an effective "tech industry", and so should stay the way it is. I don't like the idea of tech decreasing over time, but I don't think it would be a bad idea for tech to have upkeep costs.

That's what nation sitting is, where someone else who plays logs into your nation to take care of yours temporarily from the same computer (and IP) they use to take care of their nation.

I know of at least two people who play CN who go or recently went to my college. Not really you can do about except hope you don't get unlucky.
