1.
I was hoping for drama, and all I got was a silly advertisement
This is an invitation to get on the list for a batch custom order, not a sales ad. What do you think we're doing, selling guns over the internet? I WISH it was that easy...
2.
I would buy one if I had a gun tbh.
Come talk to us over at fangamers.net, we can help you with the build process using a lower parts kit, picking an upper, the whole shebang.
3. I sat there in the foxhole with the Master. We weren't in the foxhole because we had to be, of course. The NPOgrom ended long ago and we had driven the Francos far from our lands. We were in the trench because we knew it and it was good. And we were hiding. Sort of. We were sort of hiding from the desperate wave of cannibals that stalked the lands nowadays, driven mad by their dwindling numbers and searching for others like them or (better yet) prey. They weren't really a problem, though. I mean, 7.62x39mm to the brainpan and squish, no more cannibal. But they were pretty much just a nuisance. Mostly we were hiding from the powers that be. Again. "So why are we here, anyway?" I asked the Master. "Bread and beer, 'course.". I'd heard this many times. I smiled. I taught him that one. "No, really. Why here? I know the foxhole and it's good, but why?" "We're here because of war and the gods." Now I remembered. Existence was a war for survival. You were at war with everything trying to kill you, everything trying to take what you needed to live... and now these days, no matter how hard you tried to appease them, sorta seemed like the gods were at war with you. Things didn't used to be so bad and we could deal with things and each other in the wild the way grown, fed-up men dealt with anything - killin' - but nowadays, the gods... well, they seemed to be enjoying themselves some whims and some wrath. Survival was getting hard. Daily sanity was getting hard. Several of my friends, good men of good character, had been shoved full-tilt through the floor-to-ceiling window of their mind and gone crashing, bloody and full of sharp shards reflecting broken worlds, into the sea of oblivion. The scientists called it a bi-morphal viral pathogen, which could strike suddenly destroying the brain and the body, or progress more slowly into the catatonic wasting form of ID25. But we knew the work of the powers above when we saw it. Everybody does, even the scientists. Neither form of that kind of death were nice to watch. You always wondered if you were next, always wondered if some superstitious recitation - or forgetting one - would mean you were next. Between the cannibals and the gods, we rarely saw outsiders anymore. Sometimes we even - almost - hoped to see cannibals. The world was getting quiet. I could hear myself think, but I didn't like what I heard. Then the Master got to the important part. "And you know what makes a war, right?" the Master asked me. "Blood. Makes the flowers grow. Hate, too. Keeps us warm", I told him. I knew this. Every FAN warrior knew these things. They were our heritage, our rite, and our drinking songs. "Right idea, but not quite." What? "Guns make war. And this world needs it some war", he declared. And he was right. I knew it instantly as I heard it. It made perfect sense. War meant new lands, new faces, new chances, new ideas, new people. War was rebirth. War was life. Guns were war were life. "...I like it", I said. "Let me talk to the Fifth Horseman". "I already did", the Master nodded, shifting his Stetson on his brow. "He's doing that fancy gobbledygunk writing crap thing he does." "The one where he goes on and on and uses all those weird metaphors and symbolism and then later on he's always walkin' around mutterin' and cussing, saying that nobody actually interpreted any of it the right way?", I asked. "Yeah, that stuff." And in what they began to call the End Times, when the wrath of the immortals turned upon the lower beings who had written the tales of the earth, and the need for war and guns cried out like a coyote in the night, The One Who Had No Name rode forth from the doors of the bunker and above its concrete brow he hung a shining sign for all to see and find comfort in: And it was said that if you tuned an old FAN Civil Defense transceiver to just the right freq at twilight, when you could see the tritium left by the bombs from the war glowing deep in the rock outcroppings, you could hear a voice in the wind: "FAN is having custom-engraved FAN-15 AR lower receivers - featuring our flag, the Minuteman - made by Sun Devil Arms. 4.
I don't see the need for an extra option. What I do see a need for is a reworked event system. They should occur more often, and they should be more interactive - not just "what would you like to do, you'll get money or people either added or taken away".
That would be nice, but that kind of major expansion isn't likely to happen (it rarely has with CN). A more rounded selection of options, starting with the ones that are most obviously absent, is a lot more likely.
5. One thing that has repeatedly bothered me, my alliance mates, and - I'm sure - others as well, is the limited "A or B" choices for events. Almost every time an event pops up, I find myself staring at the two options going "where the HECK is the blatantly obvious Option C?" We've been slowly assembling a list of events that are missing the really, really obvious (common sense) third choice, but tonight I got one that took the cake, especially for FAN. So we're going to start with it.
"Event: One of your foreign embassies was bombed killing your foreign ambassador and his family." Option 1: Refuse to import goods from the nation responsible. Citizen income -$5.00 Option 2: Plead with an international agency to take action. Population happiness -2
...where the ---- is Option 3, "Kill them all and let God sort it out"? Seriously. What the heck. The event depicts an aggressive, destructive, unprovoked act of war. A huge portion of this game revolves around conflict and reprisals for initiating it (trust me on this, I'm an expert). Even from a roleplaying standpoint, the obvious solution for warlike nations is missing: find the parties responsible and annihilate them. Sadly, the "A or B" choices for this event follow a trend we've observed, with the offered responses either smacking of elitist ideology (leave the poor trodden masses to suffer while the privileged sit in the Ivory Tower), or pacifist entitlement (have everybody in your nation beg for somebody else to come help them). The utter lack of proactive, aggressive, or even downright military options is painfully absent, and it's probably bugging FAN even more than most of the rest of CN. Anyhow, please feel free to post your own worst offenders for "obvious missing option" events, and let's see if we can compile some suggestions to bundle up and hand off to the Suggestion Box. My first one is for this event: it would have been very, very cool to have the Option 3 response - Unleash Hell - and fight a 5-day mini war with a computer-controlled mini-nation that the aggressors had either been sent by or taken refuge in (the event is obviously inspired by the numerous terrorist embassy bombings in recent history, many of them by groups with nation-state sponsors). The unexpected mini-war would be a very cool thing to have dropped in your lap, and provided that the AI nation wasn't nuclear armed (although that could be interesting for nuclear nations past a certain NS level), it would be a fun sidetrack. That feature could be used in a variety of places throughout the game, not just for this one event.
6. I have no proof or evidence that there's an actual bug in action here, but I've received three events for three consecutive days. I normally get an event once every couple of weeks at the most often, so the frequency and three-day-in-a-row part really got my attention. Going to check with my alliance mates to see if anybody else has experienced this, in case it's not just me. Either way, it seemed very unusual, so I thought I'd mention it.
7. I think the most hilarious part about this thread is all the things you aren't admitting, and all the (resulting) things that we did within your very own alliance that you still aren't even aware of. Vences, you crossed a group of people who had a particular set of skills, and you got owned, hard. Take your medicine like a man and bow out. We'll tell the real story from here, if we feel like it. We may not. One never knows how FAN will do things.
8. As our first official act as part of these esteemed groups, FAN would like to declare that the fortitude, brotherhood, and strength of these bonds will be built upon the union of both Beer and Bread, and it is [s]good[/s] awesome. And my own handiwork... the perfect blend of Beer Bread and Gun Porn.
9. So there you go, folks. We're back. 10. I'd like to go on record saying that FAN chose poorly in GWII. We definitely stuck the wrong pig in that war. Good memories of the fight, though...
11. Yes. They were fantastic for a specific group during a specific time and now they are done. Officially. The first person besides we, the signatories, to try and 're-form' them for 'lulz' shall be served a four-course meal of canned sunshine. /important note: I only speak official-like for the number of FAN nukes I personally own
12. I just bought 200 tech for spits and giggles. Do we win now? How about now?
13. You speak as though these things were mutually exclusive then.
14. I'll tell you what's really funny... ...the vast majority of FAN wasn't even aware of this until a link was just now posted on our forums.
15. Opethian is a Shark. Your argument is invalid. (No, really. Opethian is a special case and you're obviously too new here to understand the history behind that conflict)
16. My impression was that a democratically elected body was being given a significant voice in both domestic and global Pacifican policy. If that's not the case, then perhaps I was too hasty with my praise.
17. And when was the last time it was actually listened to? The IO corps and their cronies have been running the show for recent memory. Democratically elected positions may have existed but their influence was either minimal or minimized.
18. This is impressive. Cortath, if you can make these reforms function and maintain, you will have truly changed Pacifica for what I think will be the better. Furthermore - and I say this as one of Pacifica's historically most bitter enemies - you will have gained no small amount of respect from me, for having the desire and the spine to make reformation and changes to your alliance that it desperately needed but that a powerful few resisted. I never thought I would see democratic reform instituted in Pacifica, and you have at least to this point proven me wrong. Godspeed.
19. My war was longer than yours. Your feeble plea for acceptance is denied.
20. My apologies for the late response but: Thank you.
