OOC: Space elevators can't launch !@#$ to Mars. OOC: no, but a spaceship that can be waiting in orbit for the cargo to arrive without burning up most of its fuel getting there might be useful... OOC: The Elevator will be used to bring Material into space. From there it goes into a shuttle or rocket to the Moon and, eventually, Mars. Private"Lahye, this won't interfere with the moon laser? Will it?" "Baggs, the moon laser plan consists entirely of a coffee stained napkin with a crudely drawn doodle on it. I don't think it's going to happen. Are you okay?" "I haven't slept in three days, you're lucky I can even talk..." Baggs slowly put a file with a green $@tail napkin pinned to it into the garbage Public: "We congratulate Canada on their plans and accomplishments. We wish you well in the future... and also on the moon." OOC: Not public yet you dolt. =P OOC: oh god, given I have more tech than Lynn, I *really* need to get a Space Program and get in front of him. Lynneth
*Classified* A Convoy was moving from the Canadian Mainland towards the Estuaire province, where the Space Elevator was located. On board, they had six of the Hyperion Mk.I M reactors, each destined to be the power plant of one of the planned bases on the moon. In Estuaire itself, industries were being built, so that the components of each individual base could be constructed there and later brought into Orbit with the help of the Elevator. The harbours and airfields were already being expanded, In the heartland of Canada, construction on the two types of spaceshuttles began, great amounts of material being brought to the facilities where they were being built - a nation with satellites could easily watch the convoy rolling in and out, delivering resources and food and carrying waste and trash of various kinds away. Until the industries in Estuarie were finished, the base itself couldn't be begun, and thus everything that could be done on the planet itself was being done and built. Lynneth
*Classified* With the influx of material and money from the ComIntern, Canada could speed up the project, while the first factory-complexes began their work, building modules of the moonbases. One of the new Endeavour class spaceshuttles was finished already, the second one almost. Harbours and Airfields were expanded considerably by now, but still not big enough for the project. More expansion was needed for them, and it would be done within the timeframe that was allowed. Missions to the moon were already being planned. First, both material and rockets would be brought into space with the elevator itself and then launched from the station, saving an immense amount of fuel, and thus resources and money. The Elevator was an undeniable advantage that Canada had over other nations, and the country's leaders planned to use this advantage to its fullest. If Hegemony on earth could not be achieved, then it would be done in space.
Lynneth
The first parts were finished, even though several industrial buildings were still being constructed. Regardless of the unfinished complexes, the parts of the bases that had been done were being loaded into the elevator itself. As no fusion power plants were available, the elevator was powered with nuclear fission, making the construction more dangerous, as an unexpected spike in powerconsumption could overload the power plants and trigger a catastrophe. Luckily, Canadian fission power plants were amongst the safest on the planet, and not a single one had a major malfunction until today. A message was sent to the world. The first module of the moonbase Alpha is being loaded into the space elevator. It will reach the moon within 7 days. Moonbase Alpha will be international, with any nation who can bring humans into space allowed to send astronauts to let them gather data about living on the moon. Lynneth
Highly classified [somewhere, deep in Canada - Secret genetic research facility] Finally, back from the tedious work as Chairman, back in his small office. Leclerc sighed. Never would he have thought that he'd rule one of the world's most powerful nations for several years...The only reason for giving this power up being his personal health, which had declined to a point where he considered taking drugs to lessen the pain. And now a woman, a physicist, was in power...A strange woman, but she did not disapprove of the project, something which immediately made Leclerc like her more. He now had more work, with the lab having been expanded somewhat, for a specific project, as it seems...Mass-production of artificially created organs, from what he had been told. Nothing specific yet, though. Again, he sighed. Still a lot of work to do, and not enough time to do it all...? He wasn't entirely sure of how much time he'd need. He only knew that even without being a chairman, he'd have to spend a night or two without sleep. Leclerc resumed the paperwork.
Lynneth
The first module of Moonbase Alpha had reached the moon and was being brought to the intended location, with the second module already being on the way. By now, the factories on Bob were all finished, working to produce the rest of the modules - and spare parts for them. After all, there could always be an accident, or a micrometeor hitting a structure, so these parts would be quite useful. More than a hundred billion had already been invested, especially the high-tech applications having a rather high price.

Lynneth
Short announcement to the world: Bohovia has fallen into anarchy. As per an old treaty from almost half a decade ago, Canadian forces began tearing down the electric fences - now no longer supplied - surrounding the small nation. They quickly moved in, securing vast spaces of land within days, taking more time with bigger cities such as Montreal, Ottawa or Quebec City. Order has been brought to Bohovia, their citizens now part of Canada, the place they belong to. The province of Quebec is united again, after many years of division.
