The KISS principle is one of the core rule of flags, so I'm going to agree with Caladin on this one. Though it might be worth making the purple hue consistent, and a little lighter to contrast with the black background.

Bland? Nonsense! Thats exactly how a flag should be. Flags need simple, easily recognisable symbolism due to their purpose and how they are used.

The only other suggestions Id make are:

1. You could have lettering in there, but I personally avoid adding lettering to flags.

2. Change the dimensions to make it just slightly longer/wider.
