Seria Celebrates Grämlin Day!

The streets of Seria will be full of celebration tonight, as the country celebrates its second most important national holiday (after Foundation Day): Grämlin Day, the second anniversary of the day upon which our great nation was admitted to a small, economically minded alliance of tech sellers. The economic impact of the admission was enormous, and Seria's advanced status today can be traced back directly to that day. A fitting memorial to the event is the Marrath Institute of Science and Tech

International Newsyear – New Year Special

The quiet of December continued through a generally festive Solstice celebration season, with FAN's threats of an interesting 'Give a Gun' event coming to nothing, and politics slowing to a crawl with almost every nation across the globe celebrating some variant of Solstice feast. Possibly the most meaningful announcement is the completion of Mushroom Kingdom's reparation payments, and their immediate re-signing of the MDP with Greenland Republic. With Polaris most of the way through their own p

International Newsweek: 1st-8th December

It's been another slow week on the news front. The most important events have hardly been announced: first, the New Pacific Order became the first alliance ever to break 20 million strength, which was announced as a postscript to this announcement about a relatively minor alliance completing its reparation payments for the New Polar War; and second, our great friends at the Mostly Harmless alliance broke into seven figures for the first time, which has not been announced at all. Elsewhere, it w

The History Show: Sellers to Buyers

These days, the Grämlins are known primarily for one thing: importing vast amounts of technology. While Seria has not been able to keep up with the pace of the most advanced nations (like Nuevo Cabazon, the most advanced nation in the world), we also import large amounts of foreign technology, as a rate of between one and two hundred units per cycle on average. The alliance's network of contacts across the world produces an almost unrivalled stream of technology that enriches us all, enhances ou

International Newsweek

It's been a quiet week right across the planet, since the publication of the Grämlins Codex a week ago today caused some political activity. The next day, FAN and Vox Populi made public their cooperation with this announcement. The treaty is quite vague in its wording but amounts to a full MADP in the opinion of most Serian commentators. However, it was already well known that FAN and Vox were cooperating with intelligence and espionage services against Pacific nations and other Coalition allia

The Codex

This week has seen an announcement which is both monumental and irrelevant: the public airing of the Grämlins Codex. It's irrelevant because it is nothing but a codification and publication of our principles – we have been living by these or something very close to them since at least the inauguration of Seria's government as members back in early 2007, and probably since foundation. We have demonstrated that in our disinclination to join many offensive operations – GW3, the Unjust War, and NPO

A Five GUN Salute

This evening, across Seria there have been a series of street parties and indoor events have been taking place in celebration of GUN's move onto the Aqua sphere. Seria has a deep-rooted affinity with GUN states, with many of the early improvements in technology being supplied from those states, and Serian pounds paying for basic infrastructure in GUN nations. With that technology came a large number of technicians – and it's those immigrant communities that are the root of the celebrations tonig

A Report from Blue Sphere

I'm here today amid the overgrown and bomb cratered lost city of Unistrut, formerly the capital of not only the country of the same name but one of the most important nations in the world. The borders of Polarian nations are now several hundred miles to the west, leaving this former grand imperial capital and its hinterland under the control of nomadic tribes, small nascent nations and nuclear scientists with radiation meters. (The radiation in this former suburb of the capital has finally redu

The History Show: Great War 3

Today we'll be talking about one of the pivotal moments in the history of Seria, the Grämlins and even the world itself: Great War 3. Seen by some as a continuation of the Initiative vs League conflict of Great War 2 after a brief cessation in hostilities, and by others as another chapter in the same series, GW3 was the end of the dipolar political world that had existed since well before the foundation of Seria. The attack by the NPO on GATO over allegations including spying and conspiracy to u

Ants and updates

OOC: I think a lot of bloggers here need a visit from the pest control man. One or two ant blogs are kind of funny; 17,000 are just getting in the way. I am sure that there are several interesting political and historical (IC and OOC) blogs being posted. I don't want to see a whole page of 'The voice of #7169' when I go to the blog page to see the latest updates. Hopefully that joke will get old and the worthwhile blogs will rise to the top. IC: International law now prohibits some of the most

Welcome ...

... to the press briefing room of the SNC! This is the public face of Seria's news and politics team, giving you an update on national and international news and a bunch of opinion on current events! Of course the most important thing to hit the papers recently is the Härmlin Accords, showing the world how close we are to our friends over at the MHA. Our first MDP, signed two years ago on the 5th November 2006, has lasted through four major wars, three of which saw us take different choices. It
