Wehrmacht Pioniers are now going along all land borders, checking and maintaining all minefields in use for errors, issues, or other such problems. Defective mines or ones that had outlived their service life would be discarded safely, and replaced with new ones of the same type. Those that had somehow detonated, accidentally or intentionally, would also be replaced after investigation. Minefields would also be clearly marked - "ACHTUNG! - MINEN!" would be written on simple post signs with red text on a white background, and put so they faced all foreign borders of Alvonia. Markus Wilding Posted September 21, 2014 Author Report Share Posted September 21, 2014 A new policy has been announced by Minister of the Interior Isaak von Essen, which is as follows: - Foreign visitors to Alvonia will require valid passports and an estimated length of stay within Alvonia. Extensions will be granted on a case-by-case basis. - Foreign workers inside Alvonia will require valid passports, valid work locations, a working license, and must give their expected employment period while inside Alvonia. Anyone found to be working illegally inside Alvonia will be arrested and deported back to their home country. - Immigrants who wish to become Alvonian citizens will be required to renounce their home country citizenship, take a test on common Alvonian laws, and pledge loyalty to Alvonia, as well as pass a background check indicating no previous government or military service. Those who have had previous service in foreign governments or militaries will be detained for questioning and then deported. - Those attempting to illegally cross the border will be shot on sight with no questions asked. In response to it, a temporary travel ban has been issued for Alvonia and all Hungary-Slovakian tourists and foreign nationals in Alvonia are to depart from Alvonia in the next 24 hours. All Alvonian foreign nationals also have 24 hours to leave Hungary-Slovakia and Poland as well, until such time as the Alvonian policy has been revised. Furthermore, any Hungary-Slovakian or Polish foreign national shot by Alvonia will be treated as an act of hostility against Hungary-Slovakia. The Alvonian Raketenstreitkräfte has received an expansion, courtesy of direct orders from Director Wilding. MGM-31 Pershing II missiles have been expanded to 100 total, while RK-55 missiles have expanded to 235. In addition, new agents have been approved for use, those being mustard gas, phosgene oxime, cyanogen chloride, and phosgene. As usual and per Wehrmacht doctrine, these will never be used in a first strike capacity unless Vienna or other strategic cities are threatened. News was coming to Vienna that the Eastern Bloc was collapsing in on itself, leaving only a few goals left - wipe out ultranationalism and Bolshevism, and reclaim the lost Polish lands. "Talk to the BND. Some agents are going to have new jobs near Russia." Within a few months, contact would be made with underground and legal anti-Bolshevik and anti-Ultranationalist groups in Russia, mostly from BND agents posing as lawyers (some of whom did have legal experience and offices in Alvonia) seeking to assist the groups in removing the ultranationalists from power, through legal means only. Such agents, working for shell companies specializing in oil and gas, would begin discussions on how to dislodge the Ultranationalists from power. As among the 'extremist groups' being persecuted by the Ultranationalist-controlled Internal Ministry, the National Union Party (NUP) was unable to take up the opportunity, but several splinter parties, prominent of all which was known as "Stormfront" would contact the BND agents. The splinter parties in particular would be encouraged to seek out the lawyers, assuming of course the BND lawyer operations were approved of by Moscow and elsewhere. Each soldier, from rank of Obergefreiter up will be trained to function effectively two levels of command above himself, that is a platoon commander will be expected to be able to handle battalion level duties. Soldiers are being rotated out of their normal posts to conduct training, during which time they will be replaced by reservists who are already used to the new protocol. Two new weapons systems have entered Wehrmacht service today - the Raketenartillerie Plattform Tod and the AWS K42 rifle. The Raketenartillerie Plattform Tod will serve in an additional role alongside existing artillery systems, however it will have two types - anti-tank clusters and anti-tank minelets. Both missiles have a range of 70 km and are exceptional at destroying enemy armor. So far, the Wehrmacht has 125 of these in service. The AWS K42 rifle is similar to the old K40 rifle, however it fires the 6.8 mm rifle round and carries 25 rounds in its magazine. The G22 rifle has been put into service, phasing out the older Gewehr 91/30(r) rifle, which has been a favorite of troops. Some have opted to buy back their old service rifles from the Wehrmacht and keep them in their personal homes. The Javelin anti-tank missile has been put into service with select Panzerjaeger teams, alongside the Spike ATGM system. Tu-95MS fleet has been downsized to 10 total planes, for strategic bombing and naval warfare use. Naval aviation has gained 10 new AV-8B Harrier II planes for use. Despite increasing global tensions, issues in supplying and paying salaries for newer divisions caused the 13., 14., 15., 16., and 17. Infanterie-Divisions to be deactivated and placed into reserve for later reactivation, while their equipment was handed off to other divisions or the Schwarze Korps. Notably, the Schwarze Korps would receive it's own organic artillery, anti-air vehicles, and rocket artillery to be used in situations deemed necessary. The 1. Gepanzerte Kavallerie-Division also received a complement of organic anti-air vehicles and rocket artillery for its purposes to defend against helicopters and assault infantry positions, while the Marinestoßtruppregiment also received a small number of Raketenartilleriepanzer vehicles to use in assaults as they saw fit. Also expanded was the Army Aviation Corps, with nearly every division receiving a small complement of attack helicopters for organic fire support and anti-tank duties. A total of 45 Panzer VII tanks have been converted to the Panzer VII Ausf B Flammpanzer variant, which replaces one of the main guns with a flamethrower with 1200 liters of napalm, stored in a protected tank inside the vehicle. Following the arrest of several Alvonian citizens abroad, Carthaginian, Romanian, British, Prussian and Belarussian citizens who happened to be in Alvonian for any reason whatsoever would not be arrested, although they would be put under highly increased monitoring, and would find it difficult to pass through checkpoints and access government-owned buildings, as well as being subjected to additional searches and possibly even being detained for some time for interrogation at airports and border crossings. BND intelligence agents in Switzerland have reported an increase in defensive constructions by the Cisalpine Republic, prompting further heightened alertness from troops in Baden-Württemberg, Österreich, and Südtirol-Trentino. Soldiers and airmen were told to keep non-essential activities to a minimum and observe what could be observed, while armored divisions attached to the front were held in reserve. If a war were to break out, the Wehrmacht's infantry would have to bear the brunt of whatever came their way across the mountains. Recon overflights and drone operations were common to see what could be seen across the border, although the Luftwaffe pilots were careful not to breach Cisalpine airspace. BND agents continued to watch from their positions and maintain their cover while also sending secure messages back to Alvonia when necessary. The new recruits will be taken there as soon as possible. The Wehrmacht as a whole now stands at 374,640 active duty soldiers, very close to the height of the Wehrmacht during the cold war with the Eastern Bloc. With the collapse of the British Ultranationalists, the Wehrmacht mobilized to protect former states and eliminate all traces of their presence. First up was Great Britain proper and the Netherlands, both of which soon saw Wehrmacht paratroopers fly in and establish control of government offices and buildings, as well as aiming to disarm former British military units. A classified request was sent to France to allow for the movement of several Wehrmacht divisions to the Netherlands as well as inviting French troops to assist in protection and policing the area. Across the city, and elsewhere in Vienna, the Heer was handing out military-grade firearms to the civilians, drawing on Wehrmacht stockpiles across the nation. In other areas, military bases and BND offices burned as officers and agents alike tossed top-secret and classified Wehrmacht and state documents into drums to destroy the secrets of the Alvonian military and take said secrets to their graves. At government offices, the same was occurring - state secrets and plans were tossed into shredders then burned to prevent anyone from finding out what Director Wilding and his staff had ever planned. Elsewhere, the military set bases, stockpiles of fuel and ammo, and military technology to be destroyed via explosion. The Panzer VII and any documentation regarding it were annihilated, as were combat planes and any other highly classified or experimental weapons that were never to see the light of day. Soldiers and officers alike shed their uniforms and changed to civilian clothing, often ditching their medals as well for fear of persecution should the Romanians find it prudent to pursue them. In Koper, however, the Kriegsmarine as a whole would be scuttled to prevent the Romanians from accessing and using Kriegsmarine ships, while the Marines themselves destroyed their tanks, removed their uniforms, and took to hiding wherever shelter and friendly folk could be found. The Heer troops who found themselves abroad quickly did the same. As all this happened, Director Wilding slipped away quietly in the night with Erika, heading to Russia or Sweden, nobody knew which one. Finn Powers had told people he was going to Italy. Dressler and others either stayed in Alvonia or resigned themselves to a fate of living under God-knows who, and even others in Wilding's cabinet did what Finn called "opting out" - suicide, usually by gunshot. The Schwarze Korps, loyal to the end, might form a resistance against whoever came, although there was talk of simply disbanding and joining the Wehrmacht in disappearing. Alvonia simply quit.
