Provocative actions have been made by many actors around the region, including ourselves, for whatever reason they see fit. Much of these actions, can be backtracked to the government of the Empire of Merina in failing to heed the words of the Union of South Africa at a number of key instances. This ignorance has led to a general increase in tensions throughout the region, culminating in what could easily become a flashpoint. This behavior was not in keeping with the general agreements made which allowed the rise of the Merina Empire, and is thus an exemplary reason for this course of action. These failings have led the government of the Union of South Africa to find the leaders of Merina in contravention of agreements that were made when Merina was given its sovereignty. These infractions cannot, and will not be overlooked by the South African government, and are therefore issuing this announcement. The terms of this announcement are unconditional, and are subject to the whim of the Union of South Africa. The Royal Family is given twenty-four hours to abdicate from the throne, which it was given to by the Union of South Africa, and all immediate royal family members are to hand themselves into the custody by the South African Armed Services. This will be tantamount to house arrest until the South African Government feels it is appropriate for release and terms of the release. The Union of South Africa's Protectorate Governorship will be reasserted over the entirety of the Merina Empire, and it will oversee all affairs of state until further notice. The military forces of the Merina Empire are to disband and turn in all issued weaponry and military technology to the South African Armed Services at various disarmament stations that will be located throughout the country. This ultimatum has a voluntary period of twenty-four hours, upon expiration of which, will see units of the South African Armed Services forcibly enforce these terms upon Merina." Anton Vorster Deputy Interior Minister On Behalf of the SA National Security Council and South African Government --- With the issuing of the ultimatum, forces that were posted throughout the Merina Empire would go on highest alert possible, with positions being reinforced with extra security and ground forces personnel. Checkpoints would be manned, gates were barred, armored vehicles spread out in supporting positions. Artillery support units would be readied for possible fire missions, whilst live ammunition would be distributed throughout the units as they prepared for the worst. Army and Marine forces that were spread out amongst several bases in the country would prepare themselves for a possible onslaught, as they reinforced their positions. Troop concentrations at Antisiranana and Mahajanga would begin preparations for enforcement of the terms imposed by the Union of South Africa, whilst air force and naval assets would move into position throughout the region. Extra ground reinforcements would begin pouring aboard sealift and amphibious assault vessels that were based out of Durban, Natal-Kwazulu. To provide security and escort, the Botswana carrier battlegroup would be relocated from the northern mouth of the Mozambique Strait, the center of the strait, whilst Air Force patrols would be exponentially stepped up. Furthermore we refuse any troop surge in Merina and have locked down the territorial seas and airspace to South African freight and military craft any attempt to violate our sea or airspace will be considered an invasion of Merina and the proper actions will be taken. The 904th Infantry Brigade, currently in South Africa due to the joint training programs between the South African and Commonwealth militaries, was alerted for possible deployment along with the 1st Airborne Division at Fort Bragg. Zambia will, due to good relations with Merina and South Africa be open to any and all refugees who seek shelter in the coming storm. May this situation come to peaceful resolution. A quick internal security check confirmed that there were no leaks and that the Merinian's were shooting in the dark and just happened to get lucky. Due to these developments the Independence battlegroup was also ordered to head to the South Atlantic to support the Yorktown battlegroup along with another MAU. PUBLIC The American Commonwealth currently has no military forces deployed near Merina to warrant this strange and random threat. We also find it unfortunate that such a poorly feigned threat is the first form of contact between our nations. We will further state that the nation of Merina's input on the Commonwealth's foreign policy and actions on the global stage is of negligible to nonexistent value. Our nation has close ties with the people of South Africa and that will take precedence over the threats of a baby nation that was only allowed to exist with their blessing. We also advise the nation of Merina to look at themselves first and deal with their own regional issues which they have managed to cause before issuing unwarranted threats to nations halfway across the world. Were the latter case true, that would shine rather an uncomfortable light on South Africa's invasion ultimatum. IC: While the Faraway Realm does respect the internal sovereignity of other states to a great extent, when the actions of a foreign state do seem to not just affect themselves, but to a no longer tolerable degree also our own well-being or the well-being of those we hold dear, then we cannot stand idle any longer. The actions of Ilmerina are highly unbecoming of a sovereign state and despite its offensive language that compares their neighbours to adolescents, the Malagasy regime itself shows a behaviour that can at best be found in our kindergardens, before Faraway education thoroughly removes such uncooperative, egocentric and highly volatile personality traits. Our Realm has not yet officially recognised Ilmerina, nor shall it do so, until such a time that Ilmerina is no longer showing the characteristics of a rogue state. The Malagasy people are indeed a proud people, but they should not be a suicidal one. Out of respect for the Malagasy culture, we would hope that Ilmerina learns moderation and does not sacrifice the blood of its kin recklessly.
