10 day aid period

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a repeat, search wouldn't work for me.

It would seem that there is a hole in the aid system, where aid can be offered, but not accepted, yet the 10 day period is ticking. Aid can then be accepted at the end of 10 days without any risk of holding cash.

It would seem that the 10 days should start when the aid is accepted.

Well, first, why does a nation in FAN care about aid? You're in peace mode. You can't send aid.

Second, that's just the way it is. The ten day period starts from the day the aid is sent so that the sender knows when the aid will expire.

Well in the situation you describe, the aid is at risk. It's just by not accepting right away and waiting, the risk is at the sender's end instead of the recipient. You risk the sender being attacked, spending the money by mistake or any of the other ways the sender could be short of the aid sent.

It's like hahne said, the sender should not be the one who has to tie up his aid slots waiting for the other nation to accept, risking more than 10 days for an aid slot.

And also, way to go, taking another shot at FAN... <_<

Is it not possible to just answer the question without giving someone a hard time?

For example, many tech deals are some 6K infra nation aiding a smaller nation, the 6K infra nation is neither at risk of being attacked (significantly) or being short 3M.

It is clearly bypassing the intent of the 10 day period, IMO.

Well, the point of the 10 day period is the deny the aid slot's use. And while it's in the state of pending, that slot is in use. There's no way to get multiple uses of an aid slot within the same 10 day window. It's not as if you can send two or more pending aid offers off one aid slot and once one is accepted the others are cancelled. So I see no particular benefit to waiting until five minutes before the aid offer is due to expire before accepting. That doesn't limit the risk to the receiving nation, he still receives the money just on a different day than it would have been accpeting on day 1. And the aid slot of both parties was in use for the full ten days same as if it was accepted 5 seconds after being sent. The difference is he didn't have the use of the money for those ten days. If the entire transaction is coordinated, the risk to the small nation is nil. The $3 million can be sent, received and 100 tech sent out to middlemen and accepted and he can have spent the profit developing his nation all in the span of maybe 15-20 minutes. So he gives up whatever development he could have had on day 1 and it's benefits for the ensuing days by waiting. And the risks are the same just ten days apart.
