  1. How about we Americans pledge to respect November 5th in return for the British respecting July 4th, showing thereby a gallant respect for friends & enemies alike to be able to get drunk & stupid in peace at least once a year? :)

Thats a funny holdiay, because some people are against Fawkes, but some are for him :awesome:

On topic, I don't believe there can be a holdia ceasefire, especially since it's not global like say Christmas.

  2. MoFA is the most important, followed closely by the war department.

The MoFA is a tricky position... You either have politicking and diplomatic skills or you don't. Although knowledge of the FA realm is important, the ability to interpret it and apply it, as well as engage in diplomacy, is a fairly rare skill in CN.

It is much more intuitive to be a MoIA or MoD, because those positions are more about organization, repitition, and mere knowledge. In other words, as long as you have a work ethic and a basic understanding of your job you can be an adequate minister for either of these less critical positions.

  3. I must conclude that there seems to be two (and perhaps three) diverging forms of francoism.

There seems to be the scientific francoism, championed by Vladimir and the New Pacific Order, which advocates a scientific approach towards governance and this world. As pointed out earlier by the various people in this thread, it is a machiavellian/Hobbes approach to world affairs that seeks the rise of civilization over the "barbarism of man" and various non-rational ideologies. It is a living ideology that seeks to embrace changes and the ways of the world rather than resist them.

On the other hand, we seem to be witnessing a rise in classical (or perhaps neo-classical) francoism. This version is largely based on the "other realm" from which Pacifica originated, and is largely discarded by the New Pacific Order and Vladimir as being antiquated. It is largely based on an article titled Proper Francoist Thought, published by Vladimir himself years ago. This brand of francoism seems to return to the roots of Pacifica and the famed revolution, and it's apparent proponents claim that classes have once again emerged in the New Pacific Order (and possibly amongst some proponents, the New Polar Order) in the form of a government no longer in reality representing the Body Politic.

Individuals like Doitzel and Rebel Virginia have (if I am not mistaken) embraced this ideology and some call for revolution in it's name.

In addition, those opposed to the New Polar Order and Electron Sponge seem to isolate Polaris members calling themselves francoists as fascists who have formed a personality cult around Emperor Sponge. This, if true, would place Polaris' ideology as closer to that of Martenism. NpO members of course deny this, and state that NpO is the true Francoist alliance, either in terms of scientific francoism or classical francoism.

Uh, I'm sorry, but I don't think it works that way (lol).

  5. So then what is Francoism other than a word applied to a policy regardless of past differing policies carrying the same name?

Well, for my part I see it as less of an ideology and more of a strategy guide; in that francoist ideas and thought provides a perspective through which one can observe and manipulate the world, and govern an alliance. I do think, however, that some of the things said in Vladimir's works are inacurrate and designed to overly promote Pacifica rather than remain an objective philosophy (for example, that only Pacifica can be a purely francoist institution due to it's history and unique circumstances).

In my opinion Francoism seems to be a mix of Pacifican culture and history, and machiavellian and hobbes' thoughts on governance and mankind, respectively.

  6. Committing treason (or at least saying you will) and attempting to incite other people to do so too...? Not sure either pacifica or polaris would be too happy with that.

But is it treason? It seems to be the viewpoint of the author, of former Emperor Ivan Moldavi, and of Doitzel and other Pacificans that refusing the call up is not treason but rather patriotic duty to the Order. It is, from their point of view, the leadership that would have betrayed the Order, because one cannot betray the Order by disobeying unfit rulers.

As some have noted the leadership is not above the Order, but is an integral part of it, and is as capable of treason as a single member.

Although, of course, I take no side in this.

  7. This is not the correct method to achieve the result you desire.

I agree. There are better methods to carry out membership-level mutiny and rebellion.

Also, regarding whether such action is against the charter or not:

The sovereign acts directly to resolve the conflicts and contradictions that appear in the alliance between member-nations, resolving problems swiftly to maintain order over conflict and terror, as per the terms of the social contract. If a sovereign institution consistently fails in this task then it has broken the contract signed with its member-nations and its replacement is necessary.

The existing charter and government may be irrelevant here according to francoist thought and methodology. If the leadership is deemed by the membership to be unfit or abusive, or no longer the democratic voice representative of the Body, then it's replacement is necessary and revolution is inevitable.

I'm not taking sides here, but I am clearing up the viewpoint of those who would avoid war against their "brothers."

  8. You former IAA'ers Trashing at Ford and whining about IAA don't seem to have a clue. First off, the IAA is not even remembered in a good light

Nobody cares what you have to say. begone.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

Ford, don't you see? IAA fell for ideals and honor, the fact that you are claiming that the government and membership illegally disbanded the alliance and then set yourself up as "acting emperor" does not speak well to your intentions nor to your purposes in this. The Empire is sacred to many and to use it's flag in vain is not very honorable nor amusing, especially without the consultation of it's former members.

You are in no position to make that call, you were a military official and not an IRC Officer, and your seeming premise that it was not actually disbanded is false. Please lock this thread and allow the Empire to rest in peace, and trouble Her no more.

EDIT -- the only person who could now challenge the decision anyway is the former chancellor, according to the charter, and he consented and voted for disbandment. There is absolutely no legal case to your argument, and now you are letting the IAA haters crawl out of the woodwork and have a field day.

  9. Both. Everyone is biased. These biases are influenced largely by environment, which in CN is the alliance. You have to combine what someone is saying with where they are coming from to get an accurate picture.

This is basically my point of view.
