1. The Cyrantian High Command had long considered Yoitsu an unstable and dangerous presence in the north. The evident instability and questionable psychosis of their leaders was reflected in their nation. There was almost a complete lack of cities or any order whatsoever, with one incredibly strange government building known as "The Crop". It was considered very likely that civilians were neglected or actively mistreated within their country. Plans to initiate an invasion of Yoitsu for the benefit of its citizens had been in development for a long time, and with extended loss of contact from their neighbor, Cyrantian leaders decided it was time to strike. By mobilizing their army and air force under the guise of exercises near the border, they had set up initial entry. The four armies of the military were ordered to enter Yoitsu in four waves. With 70,000 men and 550 tanks per wave, each army would charge and destroy anything related to the government of the nation. All defenses would be neutralized, as well as any members of the government or buildings employed by it. Any suspected government loyalists and their buildings were to be destroyed, following the strategy of total war, but those sympathetic to the Cyrantians or unaligned would be spared. It was suspected that the government had arms in almost every home and building in the countryside, and so very few people and buildings were expected to be left alone. The First Army would cross the border hugging the westernmost end of Yoitsu, with each wave subduing stretches of countryside further west. If all went well, the complete western half of the country would fall to the invading forces, in which case they would regroup and prepare to overtake the east. Their effort on the other half would be aided by an ally also long involved in the plans of overtaking Yoitsu, who would be entering shortly after the initial attack. Special attention would be given to The Crop, the main government building of the nation. The soldiers who first encountered it were to subdue all inside and overtake the complex, which would serve a later purpose. In the early morning, the Mutual Defense and Optional Mutual Touching Treaty was declared null and void by the Grand Chancellor of the State. Later that same morning, the High Chancellor of Defense ordered the First Army to cross the allied border and invade Yoitsu. The 70,000 men and 550 tanks would neutralize any light border defense, which was unexpected due to the former alliance. Half an hour later, eastern of the original entry point, the Second Army invaded. In another half an hour the Third Army entered Yoitsu. Finally, two hours after the order came, the Cyrantian Fourth Army stormed the last section of the western half of Yoitsu. They proceeded northward, prepared to take on any possible resistance, and began the first destruction of government-affiliated people and establishments. An international press release would be given in the mid-afternoon. From the Desk of the Grand Chancellor of the State Leaders of the world, The government of the nation of Yoitsu is highly unstable and unfit to be ruling any sort of space of land, military, or any civilians. They are neglectful and the sparse organization of the country is crude at best, and there is evidence that the government is actively a part of the misery of their subjects. After the questionable government of the Magadan Oblast, the Chancellery of Cyrantia has grown tired of unrest and mistreatment running rampant in its northern neighbors. Under humanitarian grounds, I hereby declare war on Yoitsu, and knowing their deep policy of disorganization and ignorance, it is probable that they will fall shortly. We are not the only party involved in this liberation, and our allies will shortly make their involvement evident. I implore the leadership of the nations of the world to sympathize with both our cause and the plight of the civilians of Yoitsu, and to stand with us in our efforts. Inhumanity to our north will not be tolerated any longer, and soon we shall see whom is the nobler side. Thank you. -Sergei Aleksandrov
2. Cyrantian Tribune Today the Cyrantian military has been mobilized for the first time since its delivery by the Korian Migrant Fleet. The army, which lost approximately 40,000 soldiers. 35,000 men fell to injuries and 5,000 more were killed in action in Oregon. Most of those injured have spent their time home recovering and returning to the military, while the government sought replacement for those killed. Quite recently with recoveries of the wounded and new conscripts the nation's standing army has reached its ideal number of 280,000 soldiers. The army has been moved to the north-eastern portion of the country along with Cyrantia's 2,200 tanks, presumably for exercises. Relating to the army's movements, the Cyrantian air force has also been mobilized. The hundreds of aircraft were unloaded out of their hangars and onto their airfields in former Transamur. Minor repairs were conducted on the planes needing some servicing from sitting unused, and all the craft were cleaned, fueled up, and armed. It is thought that the mobilization will somehow coincide with the exercises planned for the army, although it is as of yet unclear what the true intentions are. In other news, the Grand Chancellor of the State announced a war memorial yesterday. A monument, to be named The Testament of the Fallen, will be a large granite statue of five soldiers storming a beach. The five soldiers signify the 5,000 dead, while their actions represent both the battle plan of the invasion of Oregon as well as the bravery of those who fell for Cyrantia on foreign soil. The names of all those killed in action will be engraved onto the large pentagonal (again signifying the five) base of the statue. It will be placed in north-western Cyrantia, where the troops first boarded their ships bound for Oregon. Due to the remote nature of the site, an exact copy will be carved and placed in the central square of Xavier, the capital. Many of the families of the dead live in the capital and thus will be able to visit the monument's twin.
3. Despite the shakily translated greeting from Russian earlier, Dmitry Garin was in fact quite proficient in multiple languages, including the host language of English. As there was no place to tie up one's steed, Garin kept his mount on his moose, which trotted around the room as he smiled and addressed the various delegates in the room. Shortly before arrving, he had gotten a quick shave to his traditional clean-cut face and had just removed his heavy fur coat, which left him in his formal suit. He noticed the Alaskan delegation and directed his moose to approach them. Realizing his probably quite odd appearance riding a moose, he dismounted shortly before he reached the party and held the animal with one hand by the reigns. He walked up to the Alaskan Empress and extended his other, free hand. With a smile he said, "Hello, Empress Lithaen. I am Dmitry Garin, High Chancellor of Foreign Affairs of the Chancellery of Cyrantia. How very pleasant to see a close neighbor and former brother-in-arms here this evening!"
4. Team Entry Form Drivers' Names: Viktor Antonov, Daniil Malyshev Nation of Origin: Chancellery of Cyrantia Team/Sponsor: Cyrantian Armed Forces Car Model: Ford Focus RS Car Colors: Red and White Three Cyrantian figures grouped together in a government sedan to take the short drive down to Mascury. The first, High Chancellor of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Garin, had business to sort out with his Marscurian comrades. The second, the (recently promoted) Vice Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of the Grand Chancellor of the State, Viktor Antonov was also an accomplished racer alongside his government position. The third, Daniil Malyshev, was a renowned Cyrantian race car driver, perhaps the only man superior to his teammate in the nation. The two were en route to take part in the upcoming Marscurian Grand Prix. As the car approached Marscury, Garin stepped out to meet his fellows for his upcoming trip, while Antonov and Malyshev were left to enter into the race and then proceed to their accomodations.
5. I honestly love this. End the insanity of impossible predictions and horrid arguments over different interpretations of the same flawed, vague foresight. Technobabble is largely gone, CNRP is still fun, and everybody comes out on top. You have my full support.
6. Malakhov walked with the Admiral, looking at the ships that would be their savior with a smile. "Admiral Kharzin, my men shall not cause you any difficulty during this voyage, I assure you. They are human beings, and something may be accidentally knocked over and broken here and there, but they aren't untrained or surly. They will be the very image of model ship passengers. Besides, given their conditions on the trip to Oregon, they'll be happy to have anything that isn't a dimly lit and overstuffed cargo hold. As for your payment, the Grand Chancellor of the State will be coming aboard to discuss the matter with you as soon as he sees we are safe. I haven't any questions for you, but before we go, may I ask if you have anything on your mind to inquire from me?"
7. Colonel Ivan Malakhov, who was still the most senior officer among the Cyrantians present, had been staring down the horizon for the Korians for days. Seeing their massive ships brought a smile to his face, and as some of his soldiers joined him to watch the approach, their morale gained a serious boost. Even with the generous care of the Californians many of the soldiers were very homesick and depressive. The appearance of their means home immediately brought hope to even the men who had the worst attitudes among the force. Under the same precedent as with the meeting with the Californians previously, Malakhov was the officer sent out to meet the Admiral of the Korian Fleet when he came to shore. Though he didn't recognize the Admiral as a superior military officer, the Colonel saluted in respect and gratitude, and asked Kharzin what he needed done.
8. Cyrantian Tribune Today the Grand Chancellor of the State, Sergei Aleksandrov, came before the nation in front of the Chancellor's Building in Xavier to address his people. His first public event in quite a while was a shocking event to many Cyrantians, as he unveiled several troublesome issues that had been classified until now. He first admitted that the entire national infantry had left from the northern coast to invade the former nation of Canada. It explained why reporters and media were forbidden to be near the recently established infantry camps - there were no military personnel to be encountered there. He detailed the operation that was to be accomplished by the invading force, which was to enter Oregon at Cannon Beach, take the town, and then move on to Astoria or Portland and capture the state. The folding of Canada prevented the mission's success, because forces of the Californian Republic stormed the area and surrounded the Cyrantian army. He released the number of casualties from the operation, which was approximately 35,000 wounded and 5,000 dead. Ships from the Californian Republic carrying both Californian and Cyrantian medical personnel were said to have returned yesterday, carrying the deceased and mildly wounded. Those more severely hurt and of sound health had to remain in foreign territory. He also announced that the newly formed Korian Migrant Fleet would be carrying the remainder of the infantry home, but that it would take time, as the fleet had yet to near Oregon. The Grand Chancellor declared the operation to be a failure, and apologized to the population for keeping it a secret from them. He explained that such a plan had to remain quiet, or it would doubtless fail, despite the fact that it did anyway. There was good news in his speech, however, and several positive announcements were made. He mentioned the possibility of two new allies in the Californian Republic, who has approached the Chancellery for diplomacy, and the Korian Migrant Fleet. He noted that nothing is as of yet set in stone, but that there was a large chance both of the aforementioned entities would become friends to the nation. In his final unveiling, he announced the creation of a national flag. He explained that for too long Cyrantia had been without a flag or had flown only that of Tianxia. It is his belief that in times of turmoil or trouble, a rallying point is necessary to bring together a population. He ended the speech with his hope that the flag would be satisfactory and would become a positive symbol for Cyrantia. Before he left the site, the new flag was hoisted high above the Chancellor's Building. It features the Amur Tiger, which is commonly known as the Siberian Tiger, one of the nation's more prominent and fearsome creatures. 9. The most senior present officer of the Cyrantian Expedition, Colonel Ivan Malakhov, received General Quintin and his entourage in the officers' mobile field base. His armies were in poor shape - their supplies were coming in at a trickle, and they had few medically-trained men to take care of the approximately 35,000 wounded. The Korians were still quite a ways away with the safety they offered, so an offer of help from what he presumed to be his new opponents was a welcome turn of events. "General, my troops need to make the shortest trip possible on foot given their state, so a movement to Tillamook would be the most advisable. We have made arrangements to have the majority of my force brought back to Cyrantia by a third party, but if we were given ships to carry the dead and all casualties besides the gravely wounded, we would appreciate it immensely. As for diplomacy, I am the highest-ranking officer of our military present, so I can represent the nation in any discussions. What did you have in mind?" Orders were given to have the able-bodied to begin their short trek to Tillamook. Casualties and medically-trained Cyrantian troops were brought to the location via Californian vehicles, which outran the rest of the army. Once at their destination, the gravely wounded were treated for their injuries to await the arrival of the Korians. The corpses of the 5,000 killed and the less badly wounded who could survive the trip were loaded onto ships with the Cyrantian medical personnel to go back to the nation. There the dead would be given military burials and the others would be treated for their injuries. Those left in the Californian Republic, which included the able-bodied and severely injured, would have to wait for the arrival of the Korians to return home. Their conditions would improve, however, under the care of their hosts, and the situation as a whole could become far less grave. Following the move, the Korian Medical Board was advised of the new location of the pick-up, though it was only slightly south of the original.
10. The four Cyrantian armies, wounded physically and in spirit after their brutish beach-storming, were surprised to find themselves completely surrounded by foreign soldiers. Despite their dug-in positions in the town of Cannon Beach as well as the coast itself, they knew they were in for a rough time should their opponents engage. A bit of reconnaissance work also showed that a dash for anywhere else would be fruitless. All directions had been heavily surrounded and defended, and with their number of dead and wounded, no vehicles, and such a large remaining force to move, it would be impossible to try for a quick getaway. So the many men were ordered to dig in even further and prepare for what seemed to be the inevitable. The soldiers were even further surprised when the forces surrounding them backed off, save for a division hardly a fraction of their size. Commanding officers were approached and apologized to, and the situation was explained. Canada had collapsed and willed its south-western territories to the Californian Republic, a treaty partner of the Great Horde. In an effort to keep the Cyrantian army from overtaking Oregon, their military had rushed in and contained them, unknowing of the invaders. When they had discovered the invaders' connection to Tianxia, they backed off, but "requested" them to leave. There was a slight issue, however, that needed to be resolved. There was no way for such a leaving to occur because of the lack of a navy or any means to bring the soldiers home. Facing the potential entrapment of hundreds of thousands of men in foreign territory, Cyrantian high command came up with a rather unconventional idea. The Grand Chancellor of the State, Sergei Aleksandrov, sent a message to the Medical Board of the Korian Migrant Fleet. The crucial nature of the situation kept his contact short and to the point.
Transmission to the Korian Migrant Fleet Korian Medical Board, I am Sergei Aleksandrov, the leader of the Chancellery of Cyrantia. I am faced with an urgent situation and I must request your aid. Currently, some two hundred and fifty thousand Cyrantian soldiers are trapped off the coast of Cannon Beach, Oregon. The men have no method of returning home, and I fear leaving them in the foreign territory newly acquired by the Californian Republic for much longer will bring grave consequences. They must be brought back to the Chancellery as soon as possible, and I implore you to be their carrier. Please reply back at your very earliest opportunity. -S. Aleksandrov
As for the summit being held over Canada, consultations with allies would determine attendance at the summit at a later date. For the time being, the return of the nation's troops was its sole concern.
11. This is the doing of Sniper Joe and him alone. We always knew he wanted to sign with a bunch of Christians.
12. A group of five alliances with little individual effect on the world come together and name themselves after one of the very worst states in the union. This is a bloc I can get behind.
13. The entire available Cyrantian infantry, all four armies of 70,000 soldiers, were packed into ships and set off from the coast. The military had been stationed strategically at the location to prepare for their leaving, and the time had come. Their plan was certainly not fool-proof, but it had its advantages, and the men were sent to carry out their orders. The north-eastern coast was the starting point, from there they sailed as a fleet of unarmed and incognito cargo ships towards Canada. They did not have military landing ships but the plan had been formulated around that fact, and with the element of surprise on their side they knew it could be done. They sailed for Cannon Beach, Oregon, a small beach town in the very northwestern corner of the region. It was a small and insignificant place, and certainly unlikely to receive an attack of nearly 300,000 men, but that insignificance would hopefully aid the landing. The fleet of ships approached the Oregonian coast at Cannon Beach in the early morning. Their attack was a blitz, in which all of the ships were to hit the beach almost simultaneously, which they did. The ships beached violently but accomplished their task, and in a short while 280,000 fully armed soldiers poured out of the hulls. Half of the men rushed for the shore emplacements and opened fire with their assault rifles, backed up by their fellows nearer the water. The other half pushed in the direction of the small town of Cannon Beach, their real target. They hoped to end the skirmish quickly and quietly so the second phase of their operation could commence without issue.
14. Cyrantian Tribune Military: A huge military reworking mission in Cyrantia has been publicly announced today. The plan, which has long been underway, is a two-pronged effort. It first aims to greatly expand the numbers of the Cyrantian military in a mass recruiting effort, hoping to increase the strength of the ground forces of the nation several fold. National defense has long been ignored and the carelessness of times past is being rectified this the fortifying of the army. The plan's second goal is to completely reform the army's organization as a whole. The division of units has long been in limbo and is old and outdated, and has long called for a change. It will be instituted as a part of this newest effort. The first aim of the mission, a huge expansion of the infantry of Cyrantia, will expand the current foot army of the nation from 90,000 soldiers to approximately 280,000, more than tripling its current manpower. The men have already been acquired, trained, and armed, and are ready to serve the military as need be. Currently they are occupying a large temporary establishment of new recruits in the northernwestern coast of the country. They await orders from the Cyrantian high command, but are ready for deployment at any point. The military command also called for an expansion of the country's tanks, and ordered 700 from military factories in Enkando that produced the original 1400. This brings the total amount of tanks to 2200, also substantially increasing the strength of that portion of the nation's ground forces. The expansion phase of the plan has been completed successfully. The second goal of the mission has also been completed. It has been announced that the Cyrantian First and Second armies are to be abolished immediately, and their forces redistributed. Four new armies, the aptly named Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth, are to replace them, each holding 70,000 troops. In addition, each army will be outfitted with 550 tanks to complement the infantry. The former infantry divisions will be replaced with eight corps, two for each army. The tank regiments will be abolished and replaced by newer, better numbered and organized ones. The modern reorganization is expected to help coordination and overall strength of the military. Classified Cyrantian Military Numbers General Organization Third Army - 70,000 infantry, 550 tanks. Fourth Army - 70,000 infantry, 550 tanks. 15. I know I'm very late to the party, but this is easily one of the most idiotic policies I've ever seen instituted. I'm eager to see the outcome the first time you try to enforce this against one of the many alliances more powerful than you with no grievances about militarily resolving the dispute.
16.
You should join Jihad!
I echo this, but before you do, get out of Peace Mode, pretty please. Just one week?
17. Several staff of the Cyrantian Air Force casually flipped through the catalog of LaG Aviation, as they often did when new issues arrived on-base. They mutually chuckled at the sales pictures, and the pristine planes and helicopters which looked like they hadn't flown a mile, and certainly not through a combat zone. "They never do look that good, do they?" Another crewman walked up to the group and looked over the shoulder of the man holding the catalog, and laughed at his remark. "Marscurian aircraft? That's almost as ridiculous as them growing anything that's not turnips! I know a few aircraft we won't be seeing on any of our bases any time soon!" With that, he walked away to continue arbitrarily performing menial tasks.
18. Viktor considered for only a moment. "My favorite number is eighteen, so let's go see what's going on in the eighteenth floor, I suppose. Is there any particular reason I'm the one guiding this little 'expedition' without knowing the building?"
19. Looking back, Viktor noticed that there were no doors down the hall to his left save for the one leading outside. He frowned, feeling stupid, and looked around some more. From his memory he recalled that the building was rather short in floor surface but tall in height. "Fine then, how does up sound? This building is tall as could be."
20. Viktor didn't know the building and as a result had no idea what he'd be stepping into by going somewhere, so he picked a random direction. There was a rather neat-looking floral arrangement to his left which marked the beginning of a hall, so he pointed towards the flowers. "How does left sound to you, Misaki?"
21. Viktor smiled awkwardly at Lucy, trying to retain some diplomatic formality. "Thank you for the discussion. It was nice to meet you, and it's certainly been interesting. But I can assure you and Miskai that I am in fact Viktor Antonov, and you've both no reason to doubt that. It's been a pleasure, Lucy." With that, Viktor stood up, smiled at Misaki, and followed her out the door back to the main part of the building. He was relieved to be back with someone who didn't think he was someone that didn't exist and wouldn't press him to go see a doctor for skin graft surgery.
22. "I'm afraid I've no idea about anything to see in Yoitsu, and as such couldn't even ask to see anywhere. Do you think Misaki would have any objections to giving me a tour of this building? It's rather... interesting-looking, if I may say so. I'd very much like to see the rest of it."
23. Viktor took a look at the rather poorly-constructed and flimsy card the woman held. "Lucy, that is clearly not a real government ID card. It looks like something a teenager would construct in his garage to gain access to a bar, casino, or adult film. As for the picture, who knows? It could be anybody under the sun. I am Viktor - here, I'll prove it to you!" He reached into his coat and retrieved his genuine government ID card, with his picture and name. He held it up for Lucy to see.
24. "Lucy, there is no such position as Vice Deputy Assistant to the Vice Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of the High Chancellor of Foreign Affairs. Even if there was, there is no man in my department by the name of Vladimir. I am Viktor Antonov and that is the way it will stay - I do not need or desire skin grafts, but I appreciate the generosity. I was rather talking about something worth seeing or doing not including skin grafts or surgery of the kind."
25. "I am of course Viktor himself and I'm fairly certain that my skin won't spontaneously fall off, or at least I hope it won't. As far as what I'd like, when I was given this diplomatic assignment, I was told it may be quite unconventional. Unconventional it has been, but the normality of the strangeness is boring me. Tell me, is there anything to see or do around here that makes the trip worth me having come to discuss this treaty?"
