1.
As Cyrantia is past 25 days I'm requesting that the territory be considered re-annexed to Vaule/Russia, however given Domingo's current situation I'd rather have Cyrantia remain on the map (as it is now) until his return. For Dinoz's territory (D.R. Novaya Siberia), I'd like to request that it be relabeled a Russian protectorate.
I'm okay with this, but I'll ask that the community treat my nation in a state of lock until further notice. I simply can't keep up with CNRP, and won't be able to for some time yet. With school reconvening and my mother still undergoing chemotherapy, it'll be some time yet, so please bear with me. Thanks. -DtH
2. As Marscurian troops moved in to the territories of Cyrantia, they were met with confusion and strife. Affairs in Cyrantia were continued as they had for years - the citizens were fine, the government in a state of normality, if not a bit lethargic. In particular, Sergei Aleksandrov was surprised. He realized he had not reached out in communication to his neighbors for some time, but it was not something he expected that they would assume his nation had lost its calm and government, and would invade, even if they meant the best by it. The Chancellery's troops were immediately mobilized into the cities to meet the allied Marscurians and calm the civilians, who would be calmed by the presence of their home armies. In the meantime, the Grand Chancellor of the State and his Cabinet requested a meeting with the leadership of Marscurian Siberia to negotiate the removal of their "peace-keepers" from a nation without need for them. (OOC: I'm sorry. Life is really not being good to me right now. My mother was just diagnosed with leukemia, I'm studying hard for and taking my finals to try to make sure my grades aren't terrible, and I really didn't realize how long it had been since my last post. I was actually coming on right now to post to make sure I wouldn't be over the limit, but apparently that's already happened. Look, I don't want to lose my nation and I would sincerely appreciate if this situation were handled with sympathy to me. I understand you may already have plans for my nation and I'm more than willing to hear what you want to do, and if TBM wants to continue discussing taking over the FRY I'll hear that. But I really am not okay with losing this nation that I have put so much in to for so long. So please, let's talk about this.)
3.
PS: I was giving an example. I don't give a damn about rerolls or nation moving, and whether you can RP your character or not. I frankly see this "you cannot RP your characters" as one of the BS ideas in CNRP.
Kind of sucks to be you, then, doesn't it?
4.
Not the tyrannical rain of Melech D:
You will take the reign of the Lord High Jew and LIKE IT.
5. Sarah, Shammy, KaiserMelech. FOUR MORE YEARS OF JEW!
6. Issue One Introduction: Thank you for purchasing the first-ever issue of the Cyrantian Intelligencer, the new official national news source of the Chancellery of Cyrantia. We are sad to report the demise of the former Cyrantian Tribune, the historic newspaper of the nation. Its many problems with producing issues in a timely manner due to understaffing has resulted in the loss of its national charter, and in response it has folded. Our publication, which has long served as a regional news source covering Xavier and its outlying area, has expanded from the capital to national status, as we were granted the revoked charter over several competitors. We would like to thank the Grand Chancellor and his Cabinet for affording us this opportunity, and we look forward to delivering you news for many years to come. An Overview: In our many years of existence, the Chancellery of Cyrantia has developed several great and impressive improvements. As a special for the first issue of the Cyrantian Intelligencer as a national publication, we have decided to provide a brief overview of each and highlight its importance. Cyrantian National Disaster Relief Fund: Formed in the wake of nuclear disaster just across the Sea of Okhostk in Alaska and Canada, the CNDRF is an agency devoted to readiness for destruction and displacement caused by either war or a natural devastator. With huge stocks of resources and a massive fund of money set aside entirely for the easing of any future incidents, the agency stands at the ready for any and all potential situations with disastrous outcomes. Network Cyrantia: Originating as a government-controlled regional internet provider centered around the capital, Network Cyrantia was originally known as Network Xavier. It was soon granted a national charter, much like this newspaper's, and promptly renamed itself. It provides stable, high-speed internet at extremely low rates, made possible through its government control. It is available for use in the grand majority of habited areas in the nation. Xavier Institute of Science: A grand research lab located in the capital, the XIS has become a gathering place for all of the accomplished scientists of the nation. Most scientific advancements and discoveries originating in our nation have come either directly from or from an associate of the Institute. Its extensive resources and large base of brilliant members of the Cyrantian scientific community has made it of national renown. The Testament of the Fallen: A grand monument to the 5,000 soldiers killed in action in the Cyrantian invasion of Oregon. It is located in remote northwestern Cyrantia, where the boats containing the expeditionary force set off from originally. An exact copy is located in central Xavier for viewers not inclined to make the long trip. Both sites have become sacred ground for those related to the casualties. Chancellor's Stock Market: The first great achievement in the history of the Chancellery of Cyrantia, the national Stock Market has been nearly continuously prosperous since its inception, long ago. It provides a place for the buying, selling, and trading of the stocks of all of the publicly-traded companies in the nation. Its main building is located in Xavier, but many other major cities have a branch for investors located outside the capital. In addition to the aforementioned improvements, the Grand Chancellor has variously promised us other national wonders. He has repeatedly stated his intention to form a national social security system, though no such thing has materialized as of the date of writing of this issue. There has also been sparse talk of a great monument to the Chancellors and a great temple to religion in Cyrantia, though the rumors are largely unsubstantiated. Will more great improvements come about? Only time can show us. (OOC: in order, DRA, Internet, NRL, National War Memorial, Stock Market, and possible future SSS as well as both Great Monument/Temple, which I have IG. Just RPing out my national wonders, which I've largely ignored in the past.) Conclusion: It has been our pleasure to bring you this first issue of the newly-national Cyrantian Intelligencer. We look forward to being your number one source of news in our nation. You may trust that we will publish regularly as newsworthy anecdotes reach us. Until then, readers.
7. "Ah, I see. Yes, the situation of the former Yoitsu has been rather convoluted, but I believe you are misinterpreting it. Marscurian Siberia was our first ally, and it has been our oldest and most trusted friend throughout our history. We rode to war together and dispatched that unstable regime, of which you are familiar. We found it only fair that we ought to split the portions we both conquered between ourselves, as well as the capital, which we captured jointly. The fact that we chose to govern our partitions so differently was a coincidence, just two states enacting their ideologies. We are not and never have been at odds with Marscurian Siberia over the situation, however, this new state, this unstable "Novaya Siberia", as they call themselves, is causing tension. They are a cause for concern far more than our relations with our most senior allies. Indeed, such a thing would be rash, Dr. Trubachev, but I did not ask for a military treaty! I simply said we ought to breathe life into the dead water that is our diplomatic situation. One of the easiest ways to do this would be to sign a treaty, even if it is solely of respect or economic provisions. If that were to work out, as I hope it would, we could be in a situation to become higher-level military allies later. If not, well, no harm done. We are well aware of the Vaulian regional policies, but that is not an alliance nor a treaty. It is simply a doctrine. We wish to actually be the friends and allies of the Serene Republic, in official capacity. It would serve to strengthen our diplomatic relations and foster mutual benefits in the years to come, in my opinion. That is why I wish for a more formal statement."
8. Wesley did as instructed and alerted the Emperor's most trusted military commanders and intelligence agents to be ready for anything. Sure enough, it was not long before Barrenger called a conference for the express purpose of briefing his inner circle about his suspicions. They were quietly ushered into one of the the palace's most interior and secure rooms, and the conference began. "Gentlemen," the Emperor began, "I have no interest in wasting any further time or delaying our task at hand, so I will be blunt. I have reason to believe my throne may be in serious danger. As we speak, groups of the more 'aristocratic' members of our society, the ones who do not live in Ellsnor and thus have no allegiance to me, I believe led by the Mayhew family, are seeking to unseat me. They gather money, power and followers, and seek to use their funding and holdings to corner our economy so we might bend to their will. Additionally, word has reached me that they are gathering the best and brightest to work on a project of some distinction. I have no doubts the secrecy of this means it is subversive to me - this is no new product for the companies they own." Barrenger studied the faces in the room, and was pleased to see concern and attentiveness rather than skepticism and doubt, as Wesley had reacted. He continued. "So I must know that all of you will stand with me against these enemies of the state. Bear in mind that I have not and will not act against them until such time as it becomes truly justifiable. Mine are not the actions of a despot. But I fear they may soon try to slip control of the military out of our grasp, and given that all of you are the very life of our armies, they cannot do that without you. I know you will remain on my side, and I ask that you be very watchful and ever-ready. As for you, intelligence agents, I request that you find out what you can out there, if nothing at all. I have a few wandering eyes and ears, but I need the true greats to gather me the information that will allow us to act. Now, unless there are any concerns, you may all go." Several of the men stood and pledged their allegiance out loud, but none asked questions nor raised questions. They all left to perform their respective duties, and Barrenger felt all the more assured. At that moment, Wesley came in to the room, aware that the conference had just adjourned. "Stephen," he spoke, "there is a woman here to see you. One Miss Hilliard, a woman of high status in the capital. She has requested an audience, but her purpose is rather strange. I will send her away at once." Wesley left the room before any response, and the Emperor thought nothing of it, but then Barrenger picked up the small note Wesley had written, which stated what the woman had said. He looked at the words and, just as Wesley was arriving to tell Veronique to kindly hit the road, he stormed into the room. "Wesley, please give me a moment with the visitor!" Wesley hurriedly exited, giving himself a small smack on the head once he was out the door for having left his handwritten note on the table. Once he was gone, Barrenger spoke. "Well, you wanted an audience, Miss Hilliard, and you have one. I don't appreciate these malicious rumors circulating about me. I can assure you that my reproductive organs are perfectly functional, as one would expect in his youth! What purpose have you to come and address me about such horrid lies?"
9. From the great window of the master bedroom of his residence in Ellsnor, the Emperor of the Imperial Commonwealth of Ventnor looked uneasily down upon the city on which his base of power was built. Looking further still, his eyes sought in the distance the smog and signs of Gears Down - the place that threatened his authority, so carefully constructed and preserved. His face twisted into a frown as he considered his precarious position, and he began to speak. He knew his best (and perhaps only true) friend and head advisor, Wesley, would be there, even if he did not make himself obvious. "Why do men and women of avarice seek to undo the knots I have woven here, Wesley? I have not been a malevolent ruler, my laws are gracious and just. The people are not oppressed, not hindered by my rule. I am not a symbol of waste. I live in what would scarcely be called a mansion in other, more grand capitals, and my attire is hardly regal robes and regalia. So many other monarchs have been unseated by the things I have very precisely avoided, Wesley, and yet I am still endangered by my own subjects and their lust for power." "Emperor Barrenger," Wesley began, but he was cut off by the aristocrat. "Stephen. I shouldn't have to tell you this so often. It was Stephen when we were children and so it shall remain. You know how the formalities annoy me, we are not in public." "Fine. Stephen, with all due respect, you are being paranoid. You have no solid evidence anyone has made any attempts of merit to loosen your grasp on Ventnor. At best, you are being worried about rumors from the dishonest and loose-lipped masses. There's no reason to despair as you do." "I hope with all my heart that you are correct, Wesley, but I severely doubt you. You don't know as I do of the others in this nation with power of merit. You know who I refer to. The Mayhew family, of course. They gain power and followers by the day, and others of similar thought are rallying to their side. If action is not taken, I will soon lose the entirety of the wealth of Ventnor outside of Ellsnor. The Mayhews take to calling themselves 'Lord' and 'Lady' now, Wesley, did you know that? Lord of what, exactly? Lord of trying to utilize monetary assets to choke out all opposition? Wesley, I am the sole aristocrat of this nation. My parents have died; I have no siblings, no Empress, no issue, no family. There is only me, and I cannot and will not accept resistance." "What do you propose to do, then, Stephen? Answer me that. You have no evidence to substantiate any of your claims about the 'enemies' you so clearly perceive. Action against them would be to act against innocent parties in jealous rage. That is no mark of a benevolent Emperor." "Wesley, they have far-reaching eyes and ears. I know that they do; I am not blind nor stupid. But two may play that game. I will soon have what I need to show you that I am indeed in grave and dire circumstances. Now, if you will, advise my military commanders, and especially the intelligence officers, to be on alert." Following orders, Wesley left the room and the Emperor was alone with his thoughts. He focused back out the window, sighed, and looked towards the sky. Despite his friend's reasonable reservations, Barrenger IV knew what measures might have to be taken.
10. The Vaulian Ambassador and her aide, upon their arrival, would be welcomed to the Chancellor's Building and ushered into a meeting room on one of the upper floors. Inside awaited Sergei Aleksandrov and Dmitry Garin, the Grand Chancellor of the State and High Chancellor of Foreign Affairs, in their typical diplomatic duo. After being greeted with handshakes and smiles, and offered light refreshments, the visitors would be seated in overstuffed leather chairs. The Grand Chancellor would speak first. "Dr. Trubachev, It is doubtless that you are surprised to have been called to this meeting, given the lack of contact our two states traditionally maintain. It is that very separation that I seek to end. Your nation, in times long past, fathered my own, and then we walked our own paths and did not see one another again. I understood it then; we were a new, weak nation, and this is an unstable world, governed by autocrats and radicals, with precious few sane, lasting leaders. New nations under fresh regimes spark and die like insects. It was natural to not count on our success. But unlike the rest, we have lived on. Our nation's history is peaceful, with good allies and equally benevolent intentions. We strive to be the best role model of a benign and prosperous people as we can to the world community. I believe you can agree with that statement. As of late, I have been considering our diplomatic relations, and the tremendous stagnancy is astounding. I hope that might be ended in the quite near future, with a treaty of more meaningful terms than our original document of independence."
11. Thou shalt not leave us. If you try, I will find you. Be warned.
12. The Serene Republic of Vaule and the Chancellery of Cyrantia had a long history together. Since the former's granting of independence to the latter, the Siberian neighbor-states were often tied together in the regional goings-on. Still, despite their intertwined history, there existed virtually no international relationship. The original treaty of independence was binding, but it served little except to ensure the return of Cyrantian territory to Vaule in the event of collapse. Though there was a Cyrantian embassy in the Serene Republic, the diplomatic ties were so stagnant it was practically a do-nothing job to be stationed there. Sergei Aleksandrov intended to change that seemingly irreversible non-contact. After giving it much thought, he dispatched a message to the Vaulian embassy in Xavier, his capital. Transmission to Vaulian Embassy, Xavier To the representatives of the Serene Republic in Cyrantia, I would like to formally invite any and all among you, who are authorized to represent the Serene Republic of Vaule in official diplomatic capacity, to attend a conference with myself and the head of foreign affairs for the Chancellery. This conference will hopefully serve to expand relations between both of our countries, and will take place in the Chancellor's Building, which should only be a short distance for you from your embassy. I look forward to your presence and successful diplomatic talks. Sincerely, Sergei Aleksandrov Grand Chancellor of the State END TRANSMISSION
13. Clutching a large flag of the Chancellery of Cyrantia, which he draped around his back, the Vice Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of the Grand Chancellor of the State, Viktor Antonov, entered the Tianxian stadium. The Cyrantian champion was an accomplished race-car driver, climber, fighter, and in general was a jack-of-all-trades when it came to things that could involve debilitating injury, and often represented his home country in them. His relation to a high-ranking official had landed him a cushy, if meaningless, government position with a quite overblown title, though his duties politically had only ever included representing the Chancellery at discussions with the old nation of Yoitsu (considered a "highly dangerous" task). He now found himself entering the Tianxian arena at Dengfeng in front of thousands of Chinese, alone to face whatever challenges awaited him. With immense pride, he smiled and waved to the crowd, marching to the center of the stadium for the commencement of the Tournament. It was just his sort of affair.
14. The "Chancellory of Cyrantia" located in Eastern Siberia should be "Chancellery of Cyrantia" - correct spelling. In addition, my southwestern Antartic island seems to have disappeared. It exists in Triyun's un-updated version of the map (posted on the first page of this thread), but it's gone in this newest version. Strangely, it's still marked "Cyrantia" on the ocean though no island is there. If you would, I'd be much obliged if my island were re-added (preferably in the same shade of green as my nation, too.) I wouldn't be asking if it were a speck, but it's far larger than a lot of the single-pixel islands that haven't disappeared, so I thought I would ask. Cool map!
15. This whole preplanning thing? The most !@#$@#$ retarded thing this community has ever chundered. As many votes as it takes. It will perish.
