On Monday, the Nova Scotia National Legislative Council (NSNLC), the nation's legislative branch, held a meeting concerning the founding of a national military. The Council unanimously agreed to establishing a military, dedicated to defending the fledgling nation from all threats. Thus, the Maritime Defence Force (MDF) was established, an all-voluntary force. By the beginning of Tuesday, some 1000 men signed up to join the MDF's ranks. Due to the primitive state of both the nation's economy and military, all the MDF can afford to equip its soldiers are old WWII-era weapons and gear. However, the men are dedicated to fighting to defend their homeland, now an independent state. Now that men are joining the MDF, the new recruits are currently undergoing training, in no state as of yet to participate in any war. We are indeed saddened by the downfall of a sovereign nation, but we commend the URSR for helping prevent anarchy in the former state, even if they do belong to the Far Left of the political spectrum.

We of the Free State are hereby disturbed by the fourth goal of Grigori Vanderbilt, which is to quote "the expansion of our nation through any means necessary", which clearly implies an intent to willingly invade sovereign foreign territory in order to expand Avorez. We are also suspicious of the plan to establish an Internal Agency, which might be a secret police of some sort to us. The other goals, however, are commendable at best.

Nova Scotia is appalled by this sudden invasion of Espana by Portugal, and thus condemns the Portuguese invasion of their neighbor. We will be watching the events in the Iberian Peninsula unfold.

Beginning his speech, interrupted every once in a while by feedback from the microphone, the man said in a weary but firm voice "Greetings, fellow people of Halifax! Long have we lived under nations past; Atlantis, Greenland, J Andres, the Federated States of America, Tahoe, all gone, all but lost to the pages of history. However, while these nations had been swept away, we the people of Nova Scotia have endured, endured despite the fall and rise of nations around us. "Now, on this cold winter day, I can proudly state that we are now our own nation, a nation founded upon the principle of our very sovereignty. Thus, I, Stanley Wilcox, now President Wilcox am proud to say that the Free State of Nova Scotia is now a sovereign state in the world at large!" When he ended his short speech, he walked away from the podium, amid the cheer of the throng who had attended the speech.
