Baron and Councils Ban Automatic Weapons

Sleepy Hollow armed forces will not have automatic weapons either.

The Councils of Dark and Light passed a measure which effectively bans the owning and operation of automatic weapons or parts of them. Unlike other States in the Federation, this is not a very controversial move within Sleepy Hollow itself because automatic weapons are practically unknown in the State.

The Sleepy Hollow "National Guard", which is really consisted of Sleepy Hollow's military branches, does not use automatic weapons or explosives. A military spokesperson stated that Sleepy Hollow's military could only maintain its current and historical weapons and practices if the souls of the Hollow did the same. The Forest Guard will be working closely with other States and bordering territories to ensure that other weapons are not brought into Sleepy Hollow. This is on top of a move that Baron Dusk made which is a very serious attempt to keep Sleepy Hollow isolated even from most of the Federation except for governing purposes.

The souls of Sleepy Hollow have not expressed in any major voice objection to this new law. Meanwhile, the military and many local leaders have celebrated the law as "a strong way to preserve our culture and ways of life," as the mayor of Thunder Bay put it.

  2. Iamthey and I talked on IRC Lynneth. I don't have a problem with it, however there is one change to his DOE you need to take note of: The Northern Peninsula of Michigan (including the islands in Lake Michigan of Beaver Island, North Manitou Island, South Manitou Island, and the islands surrounding Beaver Island) remain under control of the Federation.

But in regards to all of the other lands, I do not contest if you don't. I doubt Mara has objections but if she does she's welcome to voice them. I'm sure she'll be okay with it though.

  3. To be fair, I have constantly promoted my new continent, and am always open for an RP with pretty much anyone.

Unfortunately, I think this gives us a case of catch-22. We need fresh blood in CNRP to raise activity rates and create interesting storylines. However, needing something that they can provide to get them in the game is a bit cyclical. You are absolutely correct that interesting things need to happen, and I think that creating general story arcs (something that may even span several threads) and advertising them in the Open National page could help to draw people in, if not permanently, then at least temporarily.

Luckily, we've seen somewhat of a decrease in this stance. Triyun has whittled himself down to China/Mongolia and such. Some people are still quite large and take up a lot of primo real estate. Cent, for example, is definitely one of the less-active posters and does relatively little with the Middle East and North Africa, and I admit that even Russia could stand to give up some of the Soviet Bloc nations in Eastern Europe since I have never seen Justinian do anything with them. The problem is that if Cent did ditch the Middle East, we'd probably see one person come along and gobble it back up into a new nation. Moderation has never been CNRP's strong suit. This is also why we started the rule that you can RP any culture anywhere you wanted. Nobody really wants to be Germany per se, but everyone wants to be the Germans. Half the map is empty and is free for new people to move into any time they wish (another good thing that Cent and Triyun have done, in my opinion). If you want to be Germany, you can be Germany in India or the Congo without waiting for the person who holds that land to give it up.

In the beginning of CNRP2 the GMs regulated how much land you could take. Mara started out with two or three States in the United States. Anyone starting in Europe was basically limited to their nation of a couple of extra provinces if it was a small state. Of course y'all aren't starting with a fresh map which is your prerogative, but yeah. You have GMs, empower them!

  4. There are different types of people.  People who enjoy the challenge of a competitive environment and people who just want to make it about themselves.  Its not even worth trying to reason between the two anymore half the time because it just turns into me me me.  But Mogar, you'll note I didn't role you in Thailand, so your argument is pretty flawed imo, as much as I do know you WANT to be the center of the Triyun Opposition.

It's a Roleplay.... Of course I want to make it about myself unless I invite someone else to join :v

  5. [Classified, visible to participating parties]

Tikalian forces landed by sea in New York, New Jersey and the surrounding states, quickly establishing outposts at key locations. Security would be relatively high until all weapons caches had been located. Luckily, no hints in regards to Bio/Chem weapons had been found yet, and it did indeed appear that the US had been 'clean', as it were.

All already known locations of nuclear weaponry were secured by entire battalions of mechanised infantry to ensure that nothing went missing.

A small group of forces made its way to Greenland to re-secure the area for Tikal's protectorate. Iceland had fallen after all, and Thule base had been part of the US. Keeping these areas unobserved was not likely to end well.

Meanwhile, former Ambassador Chi Canul made contact with the DC special forces, leading them into the basement of a bar where he had managed to restrain two of the seven 'conspirators' as he called them. Among the ones still at large were apparently former Chief of Staff John Oliver, former Secretary of Homeland Security Matthew Walker and former Senators Kendall Savannah, Jonathan Boquet. The ones restrained in the basement were former Senators Tristan Rydell, Rafael Kinton and Katharine Milham.

    Classified

Special Forces who landed in Washington D.C. would immediately head towards the bar ironically not too far from the Capitol Building. Once inside they would apprehend the suspects and bring the ambassador to the White House where the headquarters for military operations in the North East was set up. The American flag was respectfully lowered and put away. The Texas National Guardsmen at the White House respectfully lowered the American flag from the top of it and temporarily raised a Texas flag; some of the Texas Guardsmen posed on the front lawn and toke a picture with the flag over the White House in the background. It was promptly sent to Governor Sparks back in Austin who was very amused. The Federation flag was raised over the White House shortly after, which was the same for all other government buildings. The ambassadors of foreign nations would be offered free commercial flights back to their home countries or they could go home on their own accord. The Tikalian ambassador would be invited to stay in the Lincoln bedroom and could leave whenever they wished.

The entire operation was kept secret while forces began taking over Washington D.C., Alexandria, and other areas around. Members of congress were being tracked down and questioned as to the whereabouts of other members. Everyone would of course be treated with dignity but the situation was being taken very seriously.

Meanwhile in New York City, thousands of soldiers marched down Times Square. Most of the city was timid amid the fall of the American government, but looting was taking place in other parts of the city. The NYPD was having trouble, even with their large numbers and weaponry, to stop the amount of crime since recent power failures and food shortages. The NYPD would be given additional lethal and non-lethal weapons. Small riots broke out when Federations troops arrived but they quickly began to slow down when the Federation started utilizing tear gas and putting dozens of people under military arrest which emphasized they did not have their constitutional rights.

The mayor and governor of New York City and New York State were asked to keep the populace calm while law and order was restored. An international message was sent out that for the time being all international trade with the former United States was closed, including the Port of New York and New Jersey, until the entire area was secured and under governance again (estimated to be one to two weeks). Any foreign citizens would be given safe haven at non-essential government buildings and their governments would be contacted.

  6. The good feels of nationalism will wear off as you get older. You'll look back and be freaked out by the fact that you pledged allegiance to a flag every day of your school years without even knowing what that fully entails. You'll realize that behind all the smoke and mirrors, it's just some guy standing there, who is no better than you are in any other way, and that the world is essentially rudderless anarchy held together by social delusions.

Then again, I figured that !@#$ out when I was like 14 so maybe you're just a wide-eyed 'murikan.

    Are you from Eastern Europe?

  7. I believe your theory as to why CNRP2 has activity and exists has some merit to it. If CNRP would have had a map restart it may have killed CNRP2 on the spot. But I suppose we can only theorize.

    Are you enjoying Romania?

  8. I dont hold allegience to any political party at the moment, none of them stick out enough to me to grant them my vote, I don't like the current government either for the record.

Do you like the monarchy? I find when it comes to the monarchy the English either despise them or they feel very patriotic and proud to have a Royal Family. As an American/Irish citizen that might be the only thing I envy from Europe. I love living in a republic where I can elect all of my officials but I am sure in times of trouble and war a monarch can be the person everyone can turn to for comfort and words of wisdom. Even though I am not a fan of Obama I know that every time he holds a press conference about some serious event I feel somewhat at ease that my president has things under control (even if he may not). One of the few things I remember from being 5 or 6 years old was 9/11, and I remember everyone felt comradery and unity and some relief when George Bush addressed the nation from the Oval Office.

There is a growing number of people here who say they do not like either political party, but I've never met a person that said they were not loyal to our country itself or our system of government - even if in times like this things are at a gridlock.

But yeah... I was just wondering if you feel that way towards your Royal Family that I feel to the president.

  9. We've had our difference but I've always loved your Faraway RP. Like you've famously quoted me so many times, I don't have time to read or pay attention to a lot of people's RPs but I do enjoy yours be it the darkness or the blunt sarcasm that comes in your Faraway RP. I don't have much to say about MGL, but I can see why you wouldn't want to be all alone on North America.

I would really like you to become Faraway in CNRP2. You could do like I am doing for Sleepy Hollow and RP a prequel to Faraway. Even if it doesn't exactly line up with your original story we all have some creative stretching that we can do to make stories work long time. It could even be like a legend of how Faraway got started. Regardless, I wish you were in NA in CNRP2 with us. You're an interesting RPer and a sensible person.

    Sleepy Hollow Connected by Railroad

The Midnight Line now connects Thunder Bay to Winterhold.

    12ab3f46b6fa7e79f9bc3a2987addded.jpg

Sleepy Hollow is more connected than it has ever been before. The "Midnight Line" built by Moonlit Express now spans across Sleepy Hollow from Thunder Bay to Marathon, to Wawa to Sault Ste. Marie, from there to Sudbury, and from Timmins to Winterhold.

Newly elected Baron, Nicholas Dusk, was one of the primary investors for the project which will connect the industrial and residential centers of the Hollow. Five locomotives were purchased by the Moonlit Express and will start running the line tomorrow, July 25. Baron Dusk will take the first official trip on the line from Marathon back to Thunder Bay. The Moonlit Express said they are honored to have the Baron take the first train and "look[s] forward to uniting Sleepy Hollow."

  11. Capital cities of the States were the first to be occupied. Local police authorities were organized to help keep citizens in check while the National Guard protected nuclear power stations and military outposts with dangerous weapons. Local government officials would be accounted for but would be allowed to conduct their daily buisness as long as it was not inhibiting the military. New York City would see soldiers from the Plains Federation, Tikal, and Baffin Island. Tikal would be expected to take the lead in the northern States however a significant number of Federation troops remained in the north as well.

In Washington D.C. special forces arrived before the National Guard had even made it to Kentucky. Washington D.C. was closed off while the congress was being accounted for. The Pentagon was also closed off and all classified documents/databases were to be copied and sent to the Octagon for analysis. Any information regarding WMDs would be shared immediately with Tikal.

  12. My Dearest Lenore,

Midnight approaches and I am fearful. We have left Thunder Bay hours ago and have almost made it to the place where I will meet light and dark. They know who I am but I do not know a single one of them. If I was going to be killed, I feel they would have done it by now like they did to the few others who could have made it to this point. My conclusion is that they want me. Once they have me, from what I know, I will not be in danger from them again. It is a code of conduct that I will not go into great detail about for now, but what you do need to know my love is that I am safe.

I must go, I cannot write any longer. Remember that I am always thinking about you.

    Baron Elect of Sleepy Hollow

From the tunnel they emerged. The only sound was that of the horses hooves on the stone path below them. It began there. There horses stopped where they stood. They would not go farther, they refused to take even another step. Nicholas stepped down. His stagecoach driver handed him an oil lantern and whispered, "Do be careful Mister Dusk." Nicholas's eyes grew wide. He snatched the lantern from his driver and put his right index finger over his lips. They both stood still and listened. Wings flapped from somewhere in the trees above but whatever creature it was found its place of rest among the cracking limbs of the tall, cold trees.

An echoing whisper crept through the air. "Mister Dusk...... Mister Dusk...... Mister Dusk......." Nicholas pointed to the tunnel and silently ordered his driver to leave. To the horses relief they were gone within moments, rushing back to Thunder Bay. Nicholas had no such relief. His visibility was limited but fair for midnight in an unpopulated place such as this. His oil lantern allowed him to see well for about twenty feet, and the moon dimly lit everything else around him. The sky was eclipsed with clouds but the moon was not. Not one cloud passed the moon as if it had orders to shine brightly tonight. It had a duty, a mission, to reflect onto this place and illuminate his path.

Gusts of wind slapped the trees above Nicholas, a man over six feet. But the towering trees made him look like nothing more than a twig stuck in the ground. Dead trees crackled like firewood as the wind swayed them back and forth. A branch occasionally fell which sent a shot of edrenalyn into Nicholas's blood stream. Orange, yellow, and red leaves littered the floor of the forest around him. The stone path too was covered. Whomever was watching him always knew where he was, step by step with each crunch of the leaves beneath his boots.

"Mister Dusk...... Mister Dusk..... Mister Dusk....." echoed the whisper above again. The flap of wings again and then silence followed by more wind. The part of the path he was on now came close enough to the water that he could hear the splashing of cold waves on the rocky beach. Between the trees he saw the crystal water. Being so close to the water's edge it looked as if he was a free man but he was not. Death could surround him at any moment and he knew it. It was his responsibility to progress forward and not abandon his mission, otherwise he would abandon his life.

He turned a corner and then the path straightened up. The moon's light did not reveal everything but he could see the outline of a stone building ahead. The winds picked up. Leaves crept up off the ground and twirled around in small cyclones of air only a few feet wide and lasted for seconds or even minutes. It was then when the moon began to fade. It was obscure, not a single flicker of light made it through the blackening clouds. He was only thirty feet from the structure now. It looked abandoned but at the same time it did not. There were no lights and some of the stones had plants growing up them, but the windows had crystal clear glass untouched by nature.

While he observed the architecture of the building a winged creature flapped above him. He almost dropped his lantern while he swung his right arm above his head to repel the creature that came out of the midnight dreary. The black figure landed in front of him and raised its head. It was a raven, a single raven but there were surely others around. "Mister Dusk" it said. His name echoed out in the silence. Nicholas watched the bird while it said his name again and again. "Mister Dusk..... Mister Dusk....." Other ravens, hopefully they were ravens, repeated his name in the distance. A second raven landed next to the other. They observed one another but paid more attention to Nicholas. "Mister Dusk...." said the first, "Turn around," said the second.

His spine tingled while his hands shook. The stone path now devoid of leaves told Nicholas of the light pattering of fourteen feet to his right. Those lightly pattering feet supported the bodies of seven people who's identities were temporarily hidden buy a thick white cloak which provided a more then large enough hood. The figures all looked exactly the same for the exception that some were taller then the others. While those cloaked mystery men walked in single file to the right of the one-lane asphalt path, 18 men on Johnathan's left were in the exact same cloak and were walking the same exact same way. The exception of the identical appearance of the individuals was that their cloaks were black instead of white. No one spoke and no movements other then foot steps were made. Johnathan was the only one who was walking in the center of the path and was the only one without a cloak.

They approached the stone building but the cloaked people waited behind. His face was the only visible one. It was possible that the figures did not even know each other, but they did all know him. His black suit, vest, and short top hat would be ignored by the naked eye. Instead his orange tie took the show while his white shirt glimmered beneath. His lips were almost pressed against the door. "Nicholas Dusk, Baron of Sleepy Hollow," he said. The doors cracked open, but before Nicholas could touch them a gust of wind forced them to open all of the way. The wind blew out a few candles which had been lit on the walls. The two groups of hooded figures entered behind him and followed Nicholas. He went to grab his oil lantern but when he reached it his left, it was gone. A raven poked his finger, "Mister Dusk....."

When everyone had made it inside, Nicholas heard a distant slam of the doors and the creak of an old system of locks engage. He pushed forward. The twists and turns of the hallway became more difficult as the light grew dimmer and dimmer from fewer candles. He had to decide to turn left or right, take this hall or that one. It was a mansion, a modest one, but it was a stone mansion. Plenty of rooms to explore, but there was one they needed to make it to.

The journey through the mansion only took a short seven minutes. He now encountered a second set of doors. These two were larger then the first. They were made of almost black wood and lined with stone. On each of the doors was a large knocker made of iron in the shape of a pumpkin. Grabbing the right one with his right hand, he slammed it into the door three times. The noise echoed down the dark hall behind them which was suddenly illuminated as the doors before them softly opened. Behind the doors was a huge stone room that was fifty feet tall at its highest. To keep the room lit, candles were along all of the walls and in hanging chandeliers around the room. At the back center was a tall, stone structure that had a pulpit in the center. The structure itself, which was merely stairs facing east or west and away from the southern doors to the room, went up to the pulpit which had an unnoticeable chair behind it that could be used when standing became a drag during lengthy legislative sessions.

Johnathan entered the room and the hooded figures filed in behind him. They went to their seats. He walked to the stone pulpit. Engarved on the front of it were symbols of autumn like pumpkins, jack o' lanterns, and leaves. Everyone stood before their chairs. "Are all the members of the Council of Light present?" At the same time, they lowered their hoods and looked at one another. They confirmed their recognition of each other and then looked back at Nicholas. Thirty seconds of silence answered his question with a non-verbal "yes". He did the same for the other hooded figures who were in the black hoods. "Are all the members of the Council of Dark present?" Thirty seconds of silence and the nodding of heads at each other. All of the seats needed were filled. He finally saw their faces. Some were old, some were young. Some were women, many were men. Some beautiful, some lacking luster. They all had stern faces.

"I call the first meeting of Sleepy Hollow to order."

To President John Reese of The Plains Federation

From Baron Nicholas Dusk of Sleepy Hollow

    Mister President,

This Sleepy Hollow has elected me as its Baron. It has also elected to join the Plains Federation as a State which the Federation of The Atlantic has accepted. I look forward to the day that our nations are one, hopefully in the weeks to come. I have been told that Vice President Kennedy frequents diplomatic trips. I extend an invitation to her to come to Thunder Bay and meet me face to face. If there are any questions your legislature or you have about this Sleepy Hollow, I will answer them then.

    Respectfully,

    Nicholas Dusk

    Baron of Sleepy Hollow

  13. No I'm merely saying neither of us should be RPing the citizens.  I'm not claiming the right to myself.

Then yeah I'm pretty sure you're right. I mean you can RP citizens if you take them out of your soldier count, but other than that no you can't RP them if it's contested.

  14. No, neither did Hereno. You know, this is between two established countries contesting white space, not some new nation popping up out of nowhere. You could actually look at the thread and the map and find this out almost immediatly, before making comments that do not address this in the least, because they are made with an utter ignorance of what is actually going on.

Ah I thought southern Italy was a new nation.

  15. http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?/topic/123103-southern-italy/#entry3286506

Is RPing non-citizens loyal to you in a disputed territory allowed?

I was under the impression that one could not RP citizens until they were under your actual nation or in an undisputed protectorate.   At this moment neither of us should be claiming to have the loyalties of the ciizens who RPing the government which are not our own nations.   This seems to be a very common rule across CN RPs that has gone on for a long time, especially as Hereno has had no ground forces in these areas, making RPing the loyalties of the  citizens especially to achieve military effect of high questionability to he rules.

Did you make the seven posts required to acquire land? If it's not officially under your authority than anyone can roll in there because it's still technically white space. It's just white space with your troops in it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
