OOC: Sorry for not attending to this for awhile, internet's been out. Also, whoops, gravedig X( /ooc The above map's general outline (kudos to its maker!) is a very good outline of the highway's basic design. Many have asked for different routes to better accomodate their cities. While the main, coastal highways will likely not move, the trans-continental highways (Highways 3-5) are OPTIONAL. That said, there could be any number of optional highways branching into our nations! Take note, though, discussion for additional highways are between you and your neighbors, as these will not be entirely necessary for the success of the Superhighway project. If you would like to propose an additional highway, feel free to contact your neighbors for their ideas on where your route would link together and other such details. Also, on the general design of the highway, it would either be the highway running very close and parallel to the railway lines, or for the lines themselves to be between the opposite sides of the highway. The first option allows for safety (a tarmac between the opposite lanes) and more accesibility to the rails (no need to run the highway onto a bridge or off). In this plan, the railway lines could be on one or both sides of the highway. The second option would be more money-conservative. Why build two bridges for the highway and the rail, when you can build one for both? It also would allow for a more streamlined highway, which could be more accesible in urban ares the highway may run through. My personal opinion is a mix of both. Option two could be used for wide open areas to conserve money, and option one could be used for areas where there is need for highway accesibility or conservation of space, such as rail depots or urban areas.

While we do acknowledge such a project is a serious undertaking in terms of funding, that is what this discussion is all about. On board with the project, but maglevs sound just too much? Well then, that can be a nation-to-nation option. While, yes, the bare minimum would be the highway and railway lines, more speedy forms of travel might've been a gran idea to add a little sparkle to the project. Also, if funding for the project is low in your nation, remember, each nation simply signs on to the project as a message that "Yes, if you're building this we'll link ours to yours." The superhighway would, in truth, have only about two or three sections in each nation, depending on its location. The general plan for highway construction would be in a grid fashion. If all nations agreed and money was no object, there would be the following "real" superhighways: Highway One: Continuous, North-south line running from tip of SA to Alaska, along the Pacific coastline. Highway Two: Branching off of Highway One somewhere in Latin America (Alagaesia, Quixotica, Imperium of America), runs along the Atlantic coastline to Canada. Highway Three: Branching off Highway One around the Strait of Panama (most likely Imperium of America) and running along the Atlantic Coastline until it loops around near the tip of the continent and becomes Highway 1 again. The above highways are the infrastructure of the entire program. Without Highway one, for instance, there's little to build on, and without highways two or three half of the Americas are thousands of miles from a superhighway. The highways listed below are sub-highways, those highways that will run east-west directly across the continents. Highway 4: East-West highway branching off Highway 1 in or around Viniland, and proceeding directly across the continent until it links with Highway 2 in Canada. Highway 5: Highway branching off Highway 1 in or around central Tahoe, and beaming across the continent until it links with Highway 2 in the Atlantian Federation or Ardoria Highway 6: A southeast-northwest running highway, branching off Highway 1 in the Dellian Empire or Sassain, and running northwest until it reaches Highway 3 near the northern edge of South America, in the Imperium of America.

Seeing as some nations have expressed interest in a system, here are general details drawn out: The superhighway will be a transportation vein. Currently, railway lines and highways are largely independent of each other, but a superhighway would create one line of transport. While each nation would have the option to "customize" the lengths of the highway in their nations, the "base" design for the superhighway is as follows: -At least six lanes of for automobile travel -At least four standard rail lines -At least two magnarail lines Of course, due to these requirements, the highway would be the main vein with smaller-lane highways and rail lines branching off, but that is its purpose. Ideally, one would be able to travel at 70 mph (112 k/h) from the tip of South America to the very fringe of North America via automobile, or travel via train or monorail the same distance.

Quite grand! This is quite a feat of engineering and architecture, such design! Alagaesia has yet to build such cultural landmarks, and I do believe our engineers could learn a few things from attending any architecture schools you have over there!

Alagaesian scholars recently stumbled upon plans for a "North American Superhighway," a proposal brought before the North American International community some months ago. Upon presentation to President Thor, an idea was hatched. Revive the plan to create an internationally-maintained superhighway to aid trade, travel, and relations between the nations... and not just North America! No, it was thought that the Superhighway be extended... to the entire Western Hemisphere. Alagaesia invites dimplomats from all nations throughout the western hemisphere, from the tip of South America to the farthest reaches of Viniland, to come discuss such a plan. We welcome all nations throughout the Americas to share their views on such a Superhighway, and are open to discussion, pledges, and debate.

The Nation of Alagaesia is pleased to announce the inaugaration of its entire military! Each of the four branches - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines - and their sub-branches have been in the planning long before Alagaesia was officialy independent. Each has billions of dollars invested in it, graciously provided by the people of Alagaesia in pre-independence taxing, and each is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The Alagaesian Army is the largest of our four branches. They currently number near 200,000, and are equipped with only the latest in squad-weapon technology, with weapons varying from FN-FAL battle rifles to Squad Automatic Weapons (SAWs). The Alagaesian Marines are a smaller, specially trained force of infantry. Numbering at over 90,000, the Marines are more specially trained to allow squads to serve in amphibious landings and similar special operations. They are similarily equipped as the Alagaesian army, though their ranks include the majority of the combat-designated snipers, equipped with modified M40A3 rifles. The Alagaesian navy is a military spectacle. Numbering 35 ships, ranging in class from corvettes to submarines to carriers, the Alagaesian Navy consists of awe-inspiring ships, created with only the latest designs, weaponry, and instruments. Similarily, the Alagaesian Air Force - boasting over 50 squadrons of mixed fighters and bombers - is created from specifically the most advanced aircraft technology designed in the past two years. Already, multiple military installations on both coasts of our nation, to further compliment our nation's solidity of independence. Currently, eight Naval bases are being constructed on each of the Alagaesian coastlines, twelve of fifteen stand-alone airbases have already been constructed throughout the mainland, and 42 of 132 planned military bases throughout the country have been completed.

I am appalled at your claiming to have copyrighted the name for an ethnic group! Alagaesians take pride in their heritage, and of the land of Alagaesia itself! If one of your authors wishes to write a book using the name of our land, fine, as long as it does not paint a degrading picture of our nation. The podium concealing his crippled leg is made of finely carved oak, and sports countless microphones and wires. Thor Gold, President of the New Republic of Alagaesia, was in a heavenly state. He was about to deliver an address that would change the lives of his people forever. As he cleared his throat to speak, the 500,000 before him quickly silenced. Today, on the 6th of April, 2009, the earth and heavens stand witness to the birth of a new nation. A nation that has, for ages, sat silently under the protection of many nations, most recently Viniland. But today, that nation, the glorious New Republic of Alagaesia, has gained international recognition as a sovereign state!
