In honor for three weeks of war, expect a "Twenty-One Days Later: The Amazing Sanction Race Special Edition Update" around 1:00, game time.

Last night (5/9/09) at 12:10 AM, I declared war on General DRU ZOD of Imperiex. After a couple attacks and other war shenanigans (I love that word! Shenanigans ), I came back tonight, 5/10, after update at 12:25 AM. Thus, I am at 24 hours, 15 minutes into my war. However, when I attempted to launch mah lazer- I mean nukes, it told me I needed to wait 24 hours after declaring war to launch nuclear weapons. So... what? Am I missing something about the whole "24 period," am I crazy (I've had other reasons to believe this is so ), or is this a bug? tl;dr : Declared war last night at 12:10 Checked in tonight at 12:25, 24 hours and 15 minutes later Nuclear 24 hour limit still in effect

As for the SDI, you're just the unluckiest guy I've ever seen. You're eating the bad end of statistics, but there is only a 60% chance of blocking a nuke. You've just hit that 40% more times than the 60. As for the inactivity, that bites, but that's more suited for the suggestion box, and I think the same - if you're inactive, you can't steal, but you can be stolen from. It only makes sense... But as an answer to both questions, you're just the unluckiest guy I've ever seen.

Albert was going to make a run for it. He didn't know what was going on - why nothing was working, why everyone was disappearing, why his quiet suburban life had been seriously screwed over - but he knew he had to get the hell out of the town. Twelve people, all his neighbors from just down the street, had vanished the previous night, following twenty others from the street adjacent to them the night before. Whatever was causing the disappearances, it seemed to be working its way down Falcon Ridge Court. Glancing down the sun-baked asphalt into the shimmering "puddles" of reflected sky, he slowly pulled out onto the road. A backpack full of food and water, plus a rifle were slung to his back, and beneath his feet was a custom-made mountain bike he had meticulously selected mere months before. Shifting into seventh gear, a comfortable flatland pace, he sped down the road, trying not to notice the windows broken by looters, doors left adjar by rowdy teenagers. "Christ" he muttered to himself, "Why is it when the world seems to be ending when people decide to act up like this? I guess when civilization goes out, humans like to have one last party..." Albert shook his head. Sad. Turning onto a dirt road he knew headed north, to Tahoe, he shifted to a lower gear to adjust to the moderate uphill inclide. Then, it happened. Out of nowhere, a gunshot. Then another, another. "NO! Albert screamed, diving off his bike. He heard the whizz and then thud of bullets as they ripped into the trees around him. Rolling onto his side, he drew from his memory his old Army Reserve training. "Stay low, stay in cover, keep your !@#$in weapon! Just like Sarge used to go on about... " Albert recited in his head. Gauging the gunfire to be to his North, he ducked behind a dirt pile at the side of the road, pulling his rifle into firing position and inserting a 5.56x45mm NATO clip into his M16. "Now I see why they issue these things to Reserve units... it does come in handy, after all!" He switched into burst mode, and plunked a few shots into the thorny, dry bushes near the hill's crest and across the road. No sound indicating a hit, he ducked down and peered out at another angle. "No sign of hostile... wait, hostile?" That got him thinking. Was he fighting the Army? Had he been trespassing on a military blockade? But why then did... His thought was cut off by an explosion... in his leg. A .50 caliber sniper bullet tore through his kneecap, having been knocked off course from the head by a chance gust of wind along its near mile-long travel. Albert was thrown onto his side, the gargantuan force of the bullet ripping apart his leg and shearing much of his thigh away. Albert cursed under his breath, he was already in shock and he saw the wound. He was dead within five minutes... or sooner. A silhoutted figure stepped above him, a rifle in his hands. Albert lifted his hand to cover his eyes. "You're not Army troo-" was all that managed to escape his lips before three bullets entered his brain, killing him instantly.

Well, more of the regular war shenanigans today. The Karma POW camps are on the verge of overtaking the NADC, with the new addition of fifteen wimps to its ranks. Seriously, are that many people pansies? In related war fallout, reports are in that 99% of all people on Bob now have third arms, and additional... other organs. Yes, GRL is a point away from overtaking MHA. Glad to say I contributed The Neutral Menace(s) are all showing small gains today. TDO especially, with an 11 member and .15 score gain . In other news, the original NM is just over two points from resanction. Huh. Conversely, major losses of the day include MCXA, TPF, ODN, and, as usual, IRON and NPO, all posting 1 or two point losses, with IRON seriously taking a pummeling. Shoutout goes to RoK and their war boner. Viagra OD = FTW Outside of commentary, I'll be doing a Day 13 update (15 days since OV attack *shrug*) to see just how well everyone's faring after one cycle of wars. Will be done whenever.

Next week: All B-grade/outer fringe alliances go to peace or surrender, only main contenders left in war (i.e. NPO) Week after: A few alliances may drop, but little big change Henceforth: Draws out to Karma remainder fighting Hegemony remnant One or two months from now: Hegemony either surrenders or continues fighting

In support of this development towards stricter, safer, and more efficient international travel, Alagaesia has pledged $50 million towards the maintainence of the Defense Donation Fund. As well, Alagaesia has taken notice of the need for its own border security, and has undertaken a similar project to ensure domestic safety. Also, on the topic of plastic surgery, Alagaesian travel policies require all international and airline travelers to have up-to-date photo ID and (in the international case) passports. OOC: The execution choice actually legalizes all those measures, on the whim of the judge. In theory I could execute a pirate by starving him to death in a shipping container with a rope around his neck, then about two weeks into his starvation dump the tank in shark-infested waters. As the sharks pull at his flailing, drowning body, the rope will tighten, strangling him. Finally, a quartet of snipers will land blows in his arms, legs, and finally chest to maximize the punishment before he dies. *Yes, it's inhumane and gruesome, but this is SPARTA!*

Today, to be voted upon are the following propositions: First, the institution of Mandatory Military Service for all males, beginning between the ages of 18 and 35. To be voted upon is the institution of such a law, and if it is to be so, for how long involved citizens must serve. The agreed upon timetables to be chosen from are the minimums of 10, 5, and 2.5 years, as well as the option to dismiss MMS altogether. Second, the minimum sentencing of those convicted of piracy. Piracy, itself a capital crime against Alagaesia, currently has a generalized minimum sentencing. Reports from Palancar to Leona have consisted of judges' sentences ranging from $100 fines to death by hanging. This must certainly come to an end, thus the following choices for sentencing are proposed: Sentencing to death, life in prison, prison for 50 years, prison for 25 years, prison for 10 years, or a public flogging. If a pirate is sentenced to death, the following means of capital punishment, specifically designed to reflect the life of a pirate: -Death by immurment (starvation) at sea -Death by confinement in a non-watertight container which is lowered into the sea (resulting in the convicted's drowning) -Death by firing squad (shots would be exlucsively to the torso to balance deserved agony and humanity) -Death by slow hanging (a style of stranglation that minimizes the risk of instant death by breaking the condemned's neck) -Death by confinement in tank of live sharks until devourment
