  1. mmmhmmmm Then what of Ivan? Ivan basically tried to coup Moo only to be counter couped by Moo himself. That brought quite a lot of contraversy to the OWF and Ivan eventually left yet NPO still honors Ivan and so do many other alliances. Just because a former leader does something after leaving, or in some cases while still a member, does not mean the alliance condones there actions. Most of the time its the exact opposite. Considering all that has ever been said from IAA since Kev went loony was that they dont support his actions i fail to see why people are turning this into a big deal. Its a former leader with, well not used to be, an honorary title, since has been removed, and people are freaking out over something so simple. Either people are bored as hell or there skins are much thinner than they ever used to be.

Moo chose to forgive him for it. That was a purely internal affair. The comparison would only be valid if CIS had forgiven Kevanovia.

Also, Moridin, no, I don't think so, I can't control his actions after he leaves IAA. Sorry though.

Well, I meant essentially if he left the alliance in order to rogue, would you pay KP? I suppose I'm just splitting hairs though.

  2. They honor people who served in there higher ups. Much like NPO honors past emperors IAA does it to leaders, Granted Dilber never went rogue but it still stands. IAA is not the only alliance to honor previous leaders no matter the condition of departure.

No it does not stand. You hit exactly where the difference is. I have no issue with honoring former leaders, I do however have an issue with honoring rogues, regardless of the reason for that honor.

  3. We hate him for going rogue. But we still honor all the hard work and time he gave into the alliance when he was in good standing.

Considering the circumstances under which he left, I can't say upholding your "honorary member" tradition was at all an intelligent thing to do.

There are quite simply some circumstances in which you do not honor someone. Going rogue is one of them.

  4. Your logic is flawed. He is referred to as an "honorary" member by Chimaera because of his past of service and loyalty to the Empire, not because he attacked CIS.

In addition, Chim (and many others!) commend him for sticking up for his beliefs and putting his nation on the line, NOT because of the beliefs themselves.

I never said you referred to him as honorary member because he attacked CIS. I am merely stating that I would have hoped you would think through naming rogues as honorary members.

The same thing goes for commending Kevanovia for following his beliefs. If my beliefs were, for the sake of argument, eliminating all alliances with the acronym "IAA", would you commend me if I followed through on them? After all, it's not the belief itself, it's just simply the fact that I held them up that counts.

  5. OOC: You cannot expect an alliance to act politely on the forums towards someone who went rogue against an ally during war. Speaking for only myself, I know that everything I have posted so far in regards to the current conflict (excluding this post) has been entirely IC, the natural reaction towards a a rogue and its apparently supportive former alliance.

  6. I fail to see how the word "honorary" makes him technically a member of IAA. If honorary members were real members, what is the point of the word honorary before the title? He is NOT part of IAA; but despite his actions, he was a noble and good leader, and the things he has done for us in the past gives us the right to call him an honorary IAA member.

Also, in response to your latest post, I never called him a hero, nor did I say his actions are heroic. I did, however, say that he deserves to be commended for attempting to uphold his beliefs and fight for what he believes in. Before you quote me, please do it correctly.

You commend him for upholding his beliefs, which just happen to be attacking CIS, which, during this war, is attacking Polar as well. You name him an "honorary Imperial", clearly showing that you don't mind honoring rogues.

Yes, I would say you support him.

  7. Something funny to me, I have absolutely no respect for GOONS/Unjust Path. I backed NPO & allies then and I still believe they made the right decision. However, the CB in this war is just completely unreasonable. As much as I dislike \m/, every time I have had an encounter with FPI they have been more then respectful.

The CB is ridiculous, and in my opinion IAA should have stood by them. As small as FPI may be, as useless as this war is on CN history, I'm sticking by my decision. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly.

If this is the death of my "political career" then so be it. At least I "died" standing to my beliefs and I will have a clear conscience.

So I trust then you have agreed with every casus belli, for every war in the past? Is this war the only one where someone was not being treated fairly?

Essentially, why did you choose this one in particular to act? Or perhaps this has happened in the past, and is the reason you have fled three previous nations.

On a side note, I worry at IAA's apparent policy of naming rogues "honorary members". Is this a normal practice?

  8. Knowing NpO the way I do I don't think that giving or not giving a reason for DoW will affect their credibility one bit. And as a sovereign alliance it is up to them if they want to bestow us with an explanation. A "We're at war" would suffice.

I'm personally baffled as to why we need to give a reason beyond honoring our treaty with CIS.
