[CNRPS]A relatively advanced tribe of storm dragons expands from their city-state.

CNRPS Canon

It's the dawn of a new age on the world of Aegis. For many years, most nations had kept to themselves in massive cities with large agricultural and hunting belts, but of late, many have found an itch to expand beyond their borders to subjugate the terrain around them. The reason this has been this way, is there is such a diversity of life on the world.. and no one life form has yet to dominate en-mass. The net result has been a powder-keg of intelligent species left struggling for power on a planet of limited resource. If you think fighting among one race is bad? Wait til the denizens of the world sometimes have little to nothing in common.

This is the story of the advance of the Storm Dragons, in their quest to feed, grow, and expand their civilization on Aegis. The question is, what other tribes of what other races.. might be out there.. ready to stand in their way?

Diet type: Omnivore

Favors: Meat

Historic Behavior: Aggressive predators.

Height: Approximately 6-7 feet tall.

Weight: 2-300 lbs average.

**The text from this point forward in quotes.. is spoken in Dragonese which sounds like a mash between growls, clicks, and hisses.**

"Talack.. we've been instructed by Emperor Vortexto expand our territory using our army throughout this dominion.. between these rivers.. and the crest of this mountain range..." He would indicate on the map.. the natural contours of the border of the state of Kentucky. "Send one division in each cardinal direction from the Capitol of Dragonisia." He points at a spot roughly in the location of Frankfort. "Tell the Corps of engineers to entrench and fortify the borders. Prepare for any signs of others seeking to enter our domain. Rumor has it the other cities are considering this same patterning and we want to ensure our hunting grounds and agriculture belt are secured." Instructed General Furyion. "Make sure the First Army does not fail us in this task. Our national defense will be top priority in the coming weeks."

Talack nodded, "Do not worry sir, we've been drilling on this for weeks now, shouldn't be a problem."

Furyion snorted, "Do not underestimate this Talack, indicators are this may be the murmurings of a world-wide change and we don't want to be overwhelmed with a sudden attack of carnivores.."

"Yes sir, I'm going to go give the instructions you have requested. We'll take flight immediately." He bowed, folding his wings in salute and submission, before backing away to jog towards the encampment around the gates of the city.

ooc: It is only open to nations existing on the world of Aegis. See the cannon thread link in the OP for details.

They spanned out across their new-found borders establishing smaller settlements, nesting in the peaks of some of the Appalachian mountains and along the banks of the Ohio river tributary system spanning west tilt they hit the Mississippi.

Their dwellings were rather simple, at the heart of each city was a Government Center, designed to maximize available space.

Their homes, factories, and theaters were relatively simple in design made to fulfill their roles and little more.

500221810590.png500221809975.png500221807864.png

They used their newly acquired resources of Iron and other heavy metals from Western Kentucky to begin to manufacture heavier weapons...

500246085354.png

Their green water navy began to patrol the Ohio and Mississippi...

500245686083.png

And though they had wings, they knew that wouldn't be sufficient in the air.. and they created weapons to defend themselves there also.

Radio signals were sent throughout the world.. to see if any other races would answer. More importantly, to see if they could attempt to decipher the gibberish they may speak.

If one were to listen closely, far in the east within the Rocky Mountains, radio chatter could be heard, talking to one another in the Mounlantian language, the sounds of gears and work behind...

OOC: I'll make my thread soon. Don't worry, I have a plan for the language (hope you like universal translators :awesome:). Nation (main city) will be in Kelowna, BC, Canada.

The Storm Dragons began to tune their receivers in on the frequency, but said nothing. Their linguists began to take detailed notes of the language and how it might be emulated by them. They would not speak, until they were ready to contact these creatures in their own tongue.

The Storm Dragon radio opperators will be able to hear this very faint transmission from Neo Olympia.

Neko Cola the drink of the new millennium

Buy it now!

It is most pleasant.

*A short happy tune plays with several people drinking some soda and then having a wonderful time on the beach*

Tired?

Sleep on our beds!

*Several rather luxurious looking beds are shown with people fast asleep on them while a restful song plays in the background*

And now the 5 o'clock news

Announcer: a man has caught a 50 pound catfish in Olympic river it is the largest on record for the year. We went and spoke to him.

Man: I am very happy with this hunt. *The man looks extremely pleased while he holds up a very large fish*

Announcer: That is a very big fish. You must be an experienced hunter. *The announcer looks amazed*

Man: I have hunted fish for many years and this is the biggest one I have caught. It will feed my wives and children well. *the man looks proud*

Announcer: A fire burned down the Persian rug emporium today, five million Shells of damage, Insurance will pay for the damage. *the announcer looks shocked*

and now back to the music show.

* Another short tune plays with some people dancing*

OOC: My nation has a language that incorporates body language, without an understanding of this the language will seem curt and abrupt.

The Storm Dragons were rather suprised at the oddly flippant nature of the language. It was like pieces were missing. Linguists soon deduced there must be a visual and somatic vocabulary that wasn't present. The linguists continued to try to crack what they could of the spoken format... to at least get an understanding of the verbal protocols.

After a while they tried saying just one word, "Hello?" To see what kind of response it would illicit.

Chiaku Nazuma, a radio operator in Olympia was randomly scanning various frequencies when he heard a single word spoken in a rough voice "Hello" the voice was heavy accented and sounded like a growl. But whoever it was, was clearly intelligent and had learned one of their words.

This was indeed puzzling, it lacked inflection and was so faint that it could not be from Olympia, She got in contact with her supervisor "We have encountered a unknown transmission, what shall we do?" The supervisor replied "Do we know where it is from?" Chiaku replied "It seems to be from the north east at a distance of greater than 7000 units, we have also picked up other signals in the area but we can not understand them", "Very well I will contact the ranger first contact squad, They will have a long journey ahead to investigate this, Also I want you to focus a television signal towards that direction and play that children's language program" The supervisor replied. Chiaku went into the tape library and found some of the older episodes of the "Children's Television Hour" and put them in the tape player and pointed a directional antenna to the north east and turned the signal strength dial up to full, "Lets see what they do now" She said to her supervisor and they both nodded at each other and sat around and waited for something to happen.

Rei Malici and her squad boarded a transport aircraft with float pods in the harbour and the plane flew towards the direction the unknown signals,

Several other similar planes took off as well and they would drop fuel dumps along the way and return. This was one of the longest flights that Olympia had ever accomplished and they were very excited.

Eventually they travelled across the great ocean reached the continent that the old maps had shown was there. The maps had warned of many dangers in this area and they landed the plane and continued their journey on motorcycles being careful to avoid areas marked as hazardous until they came close to the border of the area that the signal had came from. There was a small settlement here with a large wall with what looked like turrets on it. The squad then rode up to the gates to see what would happen.

OOC: I was pondering this in the shower. How can your dragons fly? I mean, they have rather large body sizes when compared to their wing size, and from what you've said about them, I doubt their bones are light. I just don't see how they can fly.

ooc: A limitation of the spore engine. Their wing to weight and muscle ratios would be correct despite the appearance. They would be capable of short flights usually less than 5 miles before requiring landing to rest before continuing. Johns, I'll give that very well crafted post the attention it deserves as soon as I get on tomorrow, unfortunately for right now I must sleep.

OOC: I should ask my friend for this one move; its about how a RL dragon could actually fly. I remember it saying how it could actually get the materials (i.e. certain gasses for a special organ) from regular food's, and it had these sacks that would be filled up & the wings alowing the dragon to fly. For fire, it used that special gas & secial organ to compress the gass enogu for it to send a gush of fire up and out of the dragon's mouth. It may be abit different (gas is not helium I think), but its something like that. The "movie" was made by a bunch of researchers, and special effects people (had a mock/spoof on a found dragon on it, just to make it interesting :P).

The Mando'ade communications operators in Keldabe also received this transmission, being many thousands of miles closer than the Dragons. It did indeed seem slightly curt and abrupt to them, but the deduced that some other link was missing. Perhaps this race were partial telepaths, like their own warrior caste? Several of the farthest-flung scouts were sent in the direction the transmission came from. it might take several days, as they had to cross outback and outright desert to reach it, but they were curious. Perhaps this race could prove to be an ally in their own ongoing conflict...

ooc: I actually saw that silly film, but it was also dreamed up in "Flight of Dragons" an animated movie from the 70-80s that addressed the interaction of fantasy and science in a fantastic abstract approach.

Teaching guide.. etc.

It took the Storm Dragon linguists a much shorter amount of time to decipher the language with the children's teaching tape assistance. They rapidly broke down the rest of the language and responded as appropriately as they could..

"We thank you for the information on your language. We are the Storm Dragon Empire.. we reside in North America. With whom do we have the pleasure of communicating?"

A source of radio emissions was detected far to the north of TWTNW's zone of influence. Though extremely distorted and barely detectable, valiant efforts from the Dusk Technological Operators have managed to obtain a sample of what sounded like Grunts, Hissing, and Clicking noises coming from some sort of source in the Eastern part of North America.

Sentient Species occupying the same world as the Nobodies was nothing surprising, or even of note. Oftentimes, the strategic position of The Dark City on a narrow isthmus between the two Continents forced travelers to pass through. The transmission was received without much fanfare and filed away for translation.

In the meantime, the only word isolated was repeated on a broad-spectrum announcement.

"Hello. Hello. Hello..."

Coincidentially they also new the majority of languages in the land; and taught their own to who would listen (their language is here)

The party was largely made up of Artures, 13 of them, but also 3 Volanus (volatilis + tabernus = latin) came along as well. They had 1 Steam tank and 3 Paxgnus's, with the Pax's partially filled with goods from many encountered nations.

OOC: Anyone else in north america/south america can RP the arrival of some of these; just PM me about it.
