Caucasia Develops Nuclear Weapons

HRH King James I today announced that the scientists of Caucasia have completed the Yerevan Project, and have successfully developed a nuclear warhead. Currently, the Caucasian Nuclear Arsenal consists of four nuclear weapons.

"This is a giant leap forward for Caucasia," King James said on the subject. "No longer will we cower from the nuclear arsenals of others. From this day forward, we are a nuclear power!"

Article I.

Caucasia will not use nuclear weapons as a first resort. Missiles may only be used if Caucasia is struck first.

Article II.

Caucasia maintains the right to continue to develop nuclear weapons, and make use of nuclear energy.

Article III.

The Caucasian Nuclear Arsenal will be placed under heavy guard, and an overhaul of security systems shall be undertaken, so as to prevent terrorist attacks using those weapons.

Article IV.

The only way the king may remove this doctrine is by a 75% vote in favor by the people.

Interstate System Completed!

Today, Caucasian work crews took a long break in celebration of the completion of the Caucasian Interstate System. King James I had commissioned the project a few years before, and the work now connects Tbilisi, Baku, Yerevan, and many other major Caucasian cities.

Satellites Launched

Three Caucasian satellites were launched into orbit this week, marking the first Caucasian equipment to exit the planet's atmosphere. When asked if this was the start to a space program, King James answered,

"Perhaps, but not in full. I believe Caucasia has other priorities, closer to home. We need to finish rebuilding Tbilisi, and make sure life is as perfect as it can be for our nation."

Expansion of Navy

HRH King James I today announced that a large naval project was underway, to maximize the efficiency of the Caucasian Royal Navy. A number of naval construction yards and docks have been built, as well as eight new ships; four destroyers and four cruisers. King James named two of the new ships after Lavo Shalam and Ty Eyvindsson, the leaders of the closest allies to Caucasia. This leaves the Caucasian Navy as follows.

New Recruits

Following the Helzan nuclear strike on Tbilisi, young Caucasian men and women have been rushing to enter the Caucasian Armed Forces. About 72,000 new soldiers have been recruited into the forces, and the Chiefs of Staff say they don't intend to expand anymore at this time.

Royal Decree V

The king has signed into law a protectorate doctrine proposed by Adviser Dan Donegan.

Donegan Doctrine

Article I. Protectorates

Any region solely under Caucasian control may apply to the king for independence. Independence may be granted with or without conditions. Until independence is granted, protectorates will be guarded by Caucasian armed forces, and protectorate airspace and waters shall be considered Caucasian. Protectorates may be annexed, provided they have been under Caucasian control for at least one year. (OOC: one month)

Article II. Former Protectorates

Should any region formerly a protectorate of Caucasia ever fall into anarchy, the territory is to be immediately returned to Caucasian protection.

Article III. Joint Protectorates

Caucasia shall only hold joint protectorates with those that hold a treaty of at least optional defense.

Article IV. Future Protectorates

Should any nation around the Caspian or Black Seas fall into anarchy, Caucasia reserves the right to declare a state of protection over them, provided it does not conflict with another nation's preexisting protectorate claim. Caucasia will only declare a protectorate if it is in Europe or Asia.

Article V. Cancellation

This doctrine may be canceled by the king.

Royal Decree VI

The king has signed into law a doctrine, outlining what acts will be considered war against Caucasia.

Drake Doctrine

Article I.

Should a foreign agent be found to have malicious intent inside of Caucasia, it will be considered a declaration of war by his/her government, and will be treated as such. If a treaty exists, then it is immediately nullified.

Article II.

Any attack on Caucasian assets, be they in a protectorate or in Caucasia itself, will be seen as a declaration of war.

Article III.

An attack on Caucasian military property will be treated as a declaration of war.

Article IV.

Any foreign operation that results in the death of even a single Caucasian citizen will be seen as a declaration of war.

Article V.

An attack on an MDP+ partner of Caucasia will be seen as a declaration of war on Caucasia, unless a treaty exists with the aggressor.

Article VI.

An assassination attempt on any government official of Caucasia shall be seen as a declaration of war.

Article VII.

This doctrine may be repealed by the king.

New Weapons Company

Former King James I returned to Caucasia earlier this week, and announced plans to recreate his old weapons company, Drakorian Arms Manufacturing and Design, under a more simple name, DrakeDeath Productions. With the opening of the new company, he announced that he would sell only to Caucasia and her allies, with a treaty of an MDP or higher. A joint DDP-Caucasian government project is rumored to have begun already to begin equipping Caucasian ships with railguns. There has been no government confirmation. Meanwhile, old Caucasian equipment is being replaced by the new DDP equipment.

There was an explosion, and the railgun in the testing room bust into flames.

"Hm. That didn't go well. Let's try again." The first scientist turned to the second, who stood frozen, with part of the railgun's barrel landed in front of him.

"Eek," he moaned, passing out.

Crimean-Caucasian Act

Preamble

With the fall of Distopyan Crimea a few months ago, and the subsequent occupation by Caucasian forces, the Kingdom of Caucasia has inherited a number of duties from Crimea. This includes preserving stability in areas Crimea influenced.

Article I. Former Crimean Protectorates

Should any nation founded out of a Distopyan Crimean protectorate fall into anarchy, it is to become a Caucasian protectorate, just as it would have become a Crimean protectorate.

Article II. Applies To

At the time of writing, this applies to the nations of Belarus and White Ruthenia, and, by extension, Kyivan Rus'.

Article III. Cancellation

This act may only be canceled by the King.

Legislation Blocked

A bill pushed through Parliament by the Tintagylist Party to build an 80 foot statue of Sarah Tintagyl in Tbilisi's center was blocked today by King James II. The king released the following statement on the matter.

"Although Caucasia is in a period of stable economic growth, we should not waste our money on such trivial matters. I will not allow any useless project such as this to drain $1 million from Caucasia in materials, plus profit losses in the affected area due to closing the intersection."

Similarly, the king also blocked a bill that would cancel the treaty with Dalmatia.

"Dalmatia is a loyal ally. I'll be damned if I let the anti-Nordlandic sentiments of the Tintagylists ruin our friendship."

A vote to embargo Deutschland was blocked by the Nordlandic, Libertarian, and Conservative Parties, plus a few Socialists and moderate Tintagylists, with 111 of 200 against.

Sarah looked oddly at the television before pressing the power button and the bright flash over took the box before streaming to black. Almost immediately there was a knock on the door behind her, followed by footsteps.

"Ladyship?" Said Jess, her chamberlain, walking in slowly. "Mr. Van Horn would like to know if you wanted to have dinner at Teisto Conservatory today with his board of directors."

"Hm?" Sarah looked around and yawned. "Oh, yes, that wouldn't be a problem." Her mind wandered. "Jess, by any chance have you been watching the news as of late? Particularly coming out of Europe."

"Nothing bad I hope." His face went grim, most European news was never something to talk about.

"No, just from Caucasia. Did you know there was a Tintagylist Party there?"

"No, I hadn't the slightest clue."

She looked back at the black television and shook her head. "I knew about it, but they don't seem to be really...uh...ah...hmmm..."

"Tintagylist?"

"It sounds weird using my name in an adverb." She said with widened eyes. "But they just don't seem practical, a statue of me, getting rid of relations with Germany and Dalmatia. I mean maybe, I don't really know."

"Eh you know how the Europeans are. Its a continent of extremes." He said half jokingly, but it did nothing to assuage her discomfort. "Milady if it means that much to you, you could always meet with the woman yourself. She does idolize you after all, I'm sure you could make her less of an extremist."

Marijuana Bill Blocked

A bill to illegalize marijuana was barely pushed through Parliament by a number of moralistic politicians. When the bill reached the king, it was blocked immediately. In what some describe as a 'ballsy' move, King James appeared before Parliament with a marijuana 'joint' in his mouth, and gave a speech on civil liberties.

"Caucasia's government is here to protect the people. We are not here to control them. We protect them from domestic threats, foreign threats, terrorism, and crime. What is there to protect them from in this bill? They're not hurting themselves. They're not hurting society. Illegalizing cannabis will be more painful to society than the actual drug. We would spend billions on a futile war on drugs, and open a new section of the black market for illegal operations. We would throw our money away, and the drug lords would pick it up and make even more. The drug laws will not change. Only drugs with a proven record of death in users, like heroin, will be illegal."
