What do you see in this game?

Well, I guess I will get right to the point. What do folks see in this game? What draws you to the alliances you are in?

I would think the community is a huge part of it. Community builds alliances. If that new player isn't welcomed into the community, why are they part of that alliance?

For some it's just plain security. Not so much the community but they look to just build their nations in peace. Some go to the larger alliances because they feel safer there. Not so much what they can do for the alliance, but what they can do for that nation.

Which brings us to that final stage. The aid whores. The folks that suck the life out of alliances. Take and take but never give.

So thats the alliances...now lets look at the bigger portion..Bob...

Are you here for the lulz? Are you here because you like Political simulations? Are you here because of the community? What do you see this community becoming? What is this community missing? What do you think it has that it shouldn't?

My answers are coming shortly

I came here as a replacement for a small nation sim called Third World. In it, I ran the nation of East Timor, invaded Indonesia, won, and did to it what the Indonesians did to East Timor.

I also almost successfully occupied Vietnam. It was a close thing.

I came here and chose Maroon simply because, hey, it's Maroon. Watching you folks blow the heck out of one another is the reason I stay, that and the friends I've made in the few alliances I've been in.

Originally I saw great potential and enjoyment in writing up treaties. Prior to this game (I first joined in 2006) I was doing (forum based) nation sims for about 5 years but my interest was dieing. I'm here now because sad as it may be I have nothing better to do with my time.

In previous games I played both the benevolent leader with an interest in world peace and the interventionist type plotting to take over the world. What makes games interesting or just plain fun is tension built up over time with the potential of boiling over into all out conflict but the tension being over legitimate disputes which can be solved but not to eithers benefit or liking. This game lacks the potential for those types of disputes due in part to any real semblance of geography. It takes a strategic element out of it and focused sense of urgency, fear or despair. If one so wishes in this game it's actually quite easy to achieve never ending peace due to the simplicity behind the issues of dispute. One disadvantage this game has is the very little room for manuevering in game with regards to grievances. By no means is it the fault of admin because of the complexity involved in coding things with such potential. Still, the simplicity and straight forwardness in methods to deal with things in game removes an element which otherwise could revive any fun people have.

The game isn't really built for full out war to be a common occurrence but for it to be the climax of long held tension. I think this is reflected by the community by a lack of any real care or concern and reckless and rashness, for the most part, being typical. I don't really see it changing and while recklessness can be refreshing, that's only truly in the event of cautiousness or overly so is the norm.

All in all, I'm really bored. You see a lot of the same type of behavior and attitudes from individuals to alliances with little deviation.

That's just my initial thoughts though.

I very much agree on the treaty web being far to tangled. I would like to actually see a reset so to speak on treaty webs. However that would pretty much be useless as folks would just resign with those they just walked away from. Maybe if alliances stood behind the pixels on the treaty more and held each other more accountable on them...

I'm here for the friends, for family and to have fun. Plain and simple.
