Yugoslavian Diplomatic Intervention

The Kralj glared at the doors of the conference room he was currently in. It was no denying that the Sovereign had seemingly reached the end of his patience as he read the public news clippings concerning relations between his two allies, Hungary-Slovakia and Alvonia. To say that the Sovereign of Yugoslavia was incensed would be understating the sheer frustration the Monarch felt towards the situation between two of his allies.

He shook his head and prepared to calm himself for the coming meeting, it wouldn't do to be utterly enraged and start chewing out two of his allies in a private meeting.

Upon each dignitary's arrival, they and their entourage would be escorted all the way from the city limits of Beograd with diplomatic honors befitting a foreign dignitary within the Yugoslavian White City to the White Palace on differing routes. The foreign dignitaries of Alvonia and Hungary-Slovakia would not meet till they had finally reached the doors of the designated conference room.

Standing besides the conference room's plain looking but tasteful table, the Kralj of the Kingdom turned and politely smiled at the entourage, "I had sincerely wished this meeting would be a pleasure to meet again, Director Wilding, but I would be lying" he started off immediately before turning to the Hungarian Deputy Minister, "Likewise but it's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance for the first time nonetheless, Deputy Minister Kovach," he added before he he gestured to the table, hoping his guests would sit in order to get the meeting on track.

"Let's get straight to the issue, gentlemen," began the Sovereign of Yugoslavia as he took his seat, the Kralj simply ordering a glass of water before the employee waited for the Deputy Minister's order of beverage, "The Issue being the apparent animosity, aggression and tension between two of the Kingdom's beloved allies. I must ask as to why the two see each other as bitter enemies when as friends both can accomplish great things together."

"Is it the past history that was goaded entirely by the former hands of Romania? Because I really do wonder as to why this happens and the two consecutively seemingly forget that the Kingdom is an ally of both and a war between two of the Kingdom's allies would not bode well for either."

"Certainly, Kralj.  The problem is, around a week ago, instead of asking that we leave Lower Silesian, we were demanded to leave, or Alvonia would declare war.  A week later, we are informed that Alvonia has again given a demand and ultimatum, this time to one of our allies.  A day later, Alvonia has already mobilized it's entire army.

As the  Nordisk Rike's ally, Hungary-Slovakia is very alarmed at this continued aggression of Alvonia's, and should Alvonia attack our ally, we will ofcourse come to the Nordisk Rike's defense.

As a favor to our ally Yugoslavia, we are willing to uphold the Non Aggression Pact, return to Defcon 5, and even to do what we can to get our ally Nordisk Rike to depart Poland.

In return, all we ask is that the 7-day war ultimatum be officially rescinded."

Wilding politely listened to the Hungarian speak, all the while taking documents out of a briefcase he had brought with him, then before speaking, arranging said documents on the table for all to see.

"Kralj Belojevic, I would like to make it known on the record that Alvonia has no quarrel with Hungary-Slovakia. I know it may not seem that way when you read over diplomatic missives and news sources from our countries, but it is the truth in Vienna. Nobody in my cabinet, and not even myself, dislike Hungary-Slovakia."

The [topic='125212']first document[/topic] was given to both the Kralj and the Hungarian, which had a full transcript of the meeting in Vienna just the past week. "This document is a transcript we produced, which has been translated into both Hungarian and Serbian, that details the meeting we had in Vienna with Hungary-Slovakia and Belarus. You will see in that document that Frau Dressler suggests Alvonia, Hungary-Slovakia, and Belarus be the only nations to protect Poland, and adds that the only lands we seek are those we held previously. You'll see that although Minister Kolos mentions five districts the Hungarians are in, we in Alvonia had no intelligence as to the disposition or location of said troops, and this was not clarified by Minister Kolos. Later, an Alvonian army crosses into Lower Silesia, a Polish and former Alvonian province, to which we are greeted by nearly fifty thousand Hungarians, which also sparks a slight protest in our meeting room in Vienna. Classic miscommunication. However, despite more than reasonable compromises our offers are rebuffed and it isn't until another compromise is offered by Belarus that we finally resolve that particular mess."

The [topic='125228']second document[/topic] was also handed to them both. "And these are the actual transcripts of the meeting between us and the Nordisk Rike in Brno. The ones released by the Nordisk Rike media were edited, and you'll notice neither Herr Powers or Frau Dressler make a threat to any nation other than the Nordisk Rike. Frau Nova's attitude in Alvonia, noted by Frau Šimek, is also well-documented in there. The fact of the matter is that when we ask for relatively simple things, from both the RIke, Hungary-Slovakia, and others, we are treated with hostility at worst, suspicion at best."

"Perhaps that is a result of our past actions in dealing with the Eastern Bloc, among other nations. I don't enjoy using the armed forces of my nation to force change, but it is sometimes inevitable. As I have said, we have no quarrel with Hungary-Slovakia, and I recognize that there have been missteps and problematic responses in the past, but that should be behind us now. The last thing I want at this time is for our states to find conflict, and despite numerous outreach attempts by us in Vienna, it keeps happening. I do not know what to say to that."

"We have sent a formal request to our ally the Nordisk Rike to peacefully withdrawal from Poland as soon as they are able.

I also politely remind Director Wilding that the deal we agreed to is only for the three western-most Polish voivodeships.  We have withdrawn from Lower Silensia as promised and currently have no Hungarian military personnel in neither of the other two voivodeships Alvonia claims nor in any of the northern Polish voivodeships.  We respectfully ask that Alvonia refrains from sending any Alvonian soldiers into northern Poland, as well."

*The Deputy MoFA would receive a fax of the Peace Agreement agreed to between Hungary-Slovakia, Belarus, Alvonia, and the Nordisk Rike, and would keep one copy for himself, and hand two copies to Director Wilding and the Kralj.*

It would read as follows:

* Lower Silesian, West Pomeranian, and Lubusz are an Alvonian protectorate.

* Subcarpathia, Lesser Poland, Silesian, Opole, Lodz, Swietokryzyskie are a Hungarian protectorate.

* Podlaskie, Masovian, and Lublin are a protectorate of Belarus.

* Warmian-Masurian and (North) Pomeranian Voivodeship are a joint Alvonian-Hungarian protectorate.

* Both Alvonia and Hungary-Slovakia promise and agree to never annex any of the voivodeships of their joint protectorate in Poland.

* Alvonia officially rescinds it's ultimatum to Nordisk Rike.

* Alvonia and Hungary-Slovakia both demobilize their military.

 * Alvonia agrees to not place any ships in the Baltic.

* Alvonia will not place any anti-ship missiles with a range of over 25 km on the Baltic.

* Alvonia agrees to keep its troops 15 km from the Baltic.

 * Alvonia agrees to keep its troops 15 km from Hungary's possessions, except for 100 border guards.

* Nordisk Rike withdraws promptly from Poland.

------------------------

*The Deputy MoFA would sign the document for Hungary-Slovakia.*

"...This is what I mean," began the Sovereign of Yugoslavia as he stood up, the Kralj simply leaving his glass as he started walking around the table where the two foreign dignitaries remained sitting, "Always demands or threats. Why must it be so?" the Sovereign snarked rhetorically before fixing his gaze on his two allies.

"Gentlemen, this is both sad and pathetic coming from the two of you," he said bluntly as he glanced to the Deputy Minister, "I would highly recommend that Hungary learns when a mistake is a mistake, miscommunication is miscommunication and when it's not an escalation because escalation only begets escalation, Deputy Minister Kovach," he added before turning his gaze to the Director, "And I would appreciate it, Director, if Alvonia was not so ruefully blunt in their approach as that serves no one."

Dragojev would sigh, raising a hand to gently rub the bridge of his nose for a few seconds before gazing at his two allies once more, "Gentlemen, if we all wish to move forward at the very least as peaceful neighbors, we must leave the past behind us and move forward. No longer does the shadow of Romania hover above us and nor should we let it linger or persist on old views from each of us and it behooves us to eradicate such as letting it linger only assures its victory in the long run, and I'm certainly that no one present in this room wishes for that, would I be correct?"

We will endeavor to do our best to improve relations to at least neutral.

An apology for what was in Lower Silesian for what we perceived to be an ultimatum to leave Immediately or we will be removed by military force would be appreciated, and would go quite a way into helping improve relations.

In the future, we respectfully request that Alvonia, please, respectfully ask first, rather than jump almost immediately to an ultimatum and threat of using force.

Private to Hungary and Alvonia

"While I am not privy to the exact details of your situation or diplomatic movements being made, I do think that there is effort being made to settle the situation between Hungary and Alvonia. To that end, given Malta's recent involvement in Poland and our considerable investment in rebuilding the region where we recently fought to subdue the White Army belligerents, I offer the use of Armed Malta Forces to act as border monitors. This would put a 3rd party between your nations that would monitor the border and publicly report troop movements on either side.

I hope this offer helps bring about a peace between your two nations."

- King Gregory of Malta

"Now gentlemen, seeing as the Kingdom is an active member of the League of Nations, would it be acceptable to have forces from the League act as border monitors and publicly report on any foreign troop movement on either side?"
