Well, another day, another hastle it seems. These days the game of Cybernations has grown (if that is the term you prefer to use) so far from what it was like when I made my first nation back in 2007. Many alliances have come and gone and we have so many people who have been a part of what this game is today that are no longer with us. Personally I have been in few alliances compared to some players of my age in this game, mostly because I like the idea of staying with one family and making it work until it no longer can. I've branched out and tried to create my own alliance in this game and learned some very important things about how alliances work, I owe that to a great many players who helped me learn those lessons.

Recently however, I have noticed a trend that doesn't seem to make sense to me. These days in Cybernations, it seems like people who are a part of established alliances look down on new and small alliances. I really don't understand why, surely they must remember what was like to be the low man on the totem pole. Power in this game is not something that is given in any way, it is something that is earned. Granted, there are many ways to earn power, some of them being frowned upon, but you never just have power handed to you. I think we can all agree that no alliance in their right mind would give power to a nation of only 300 nation strength, but you don't treat them like nothing either. So if you wouldn't treat a new member of your alliance with harsh critisism and flaming at every post, why would you do so for a new alliance on the block? Some alliances deserve it (the name Winner12345 comes to mind when writing this) but the majority of new alliances are just friends grouping together for the common good. They don't have to be big to be powerful, all it takes it one person to set off an explosion.

My current alliance, the Global Protection Force, gets a lot of negative posts on anything our Secretary General, Triumvirate of Foreign Affairs, or any other government member posts. I know members may have a problem with some of our members, but surely that doesn't mean the whole alliance is bad. I would be willing to bet that if the Global Protection Force was a top ten sanctioned alliance, most of the people who flame on our posts and harass us on a regular basis would not do such a thing no matter how big a problem they have with us. From my point of veiw, in the past the alliances of Cybernations were much more accepting of the new kid on the block and taught them how to succeed rather than shot them down. I understand that it's all about connections and politics, but friends are hard to come by these days and I kind of think that should change.

Yes this post is a rant about my opinion, and if you don't like it then you don't have to read anything I post ever again. Like I said on my blog, this is a place for me to vent my frustrations about things I see around me. You don't have to like it, and I don't have to care if you like it. Thanks for reading anyway, I know I can't write, but if one person reads this and changes, it's worth it.

Didn't realize the GPF is getting a hard time of late. From what I'm gathering is there was a coup attempt or some such thing?

Sad that.

I will say this, that despite the problems, not one iota the tech being sold to me was late. Even had one of your members accidentally send me 50 bucks instead of 50 tech. He messaged me about it, I didn't even notice it. Told him to forget about it and we kept on as usual as I was pretty taken back by his honesty.

So from my point of view the GPF looks alright to me.

I think we can all agree that no alliance in their right mind would give power to a nation of only 300 nation strength, but you don't treat them like nothing either.

I became the GPA Minister of Defense when I was only at three NS; a nations strength does not matter, but their experience; a returning nation can often be a good choice to throw into a position, if they have proved themselves active and competent in their previous nation.

Aside from that, as a neutral I have no idea what it is like for new alliances :/

Since your post honestly expresses your concerns, I'll address them honestly.

When GPF first founded, they approached and signed a protectorate treaty with RoK. I was in high government at the time (not sure what position, I moved up fast). During our time as protectors of GPF, your alliance was never anything but petty, stubborn, obnoxious, and, if I'll be frank, a pain in the ass and more trouble than you were worth. You consistently caused drama, from making bombastic claims on IRC and the OWF, to throwing our influence around without warrant, to trying to start wars with our damn allies. We contemplated cancelling on you dozens of times, but never did it because you told us you'd try harder next time, and we were RoKkers and stupid. The day our protectorate treaty was cancelled was a sigh of relief rather than a disappointment on our part.

So no, people don't hate on GPF for no reason. Your alliance was founded by a group of outrageous, downright unkind people, and their first goal seemed to have been pissing off everyone in the game with their antics and posting. If it wasn't the goal, then it certainly had that result. People don't like GPF because its, quite frankly, a terrible alliance.

Is that the answer you wanted?

To be quite honest, this is a problem only if small alliances can't take the heat. GPF seems to keep going despite several issues, so you probably have a good chance to survive long-term :)

I'm not going to deny that it was founded by the people you say founded it, I had bad experiences with the original GPF government myself. However I do think fresh starts are needed and if you would be willing to grant us one, we will show you that government is long gone and we are trying to make GPF into a well respected alliance.

After working with GPF, I really don't understand the animosity some people hold for you. You were nothing but pleasant to me in my dealings.

From what I understand, it's not really us as left over resentment and anger at the original government.
