Best Trades

Recommended Posts

If you want to be at the absolute top, you have to temp trade.

A set like thsi - http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_display.asp?Nation_ID=364158 - for collecting, with temporary trades for all the "bill pay" resources and infra reductions when purchasing infrastructure is the way to go. War might be alittle rough again without temp trading however.

For nations not looking to do that, a 3BR set is normally very good (such as this one - http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_display.asp?Nation_ID=316400).

If you're not looking to temp trade (I can understand that), then strictly speaking, the 3BR ring (beer, fast food and construction) are the best rings available. They're a well-rounded collection and upkeep suited ring and having one of these with the two bonuses of fish and uranium, well you really can't go wrong :)

There are a lot of factors that go into what trade circle is best for a particular nation at a particular point in it's development. The 3BR is typically the best for new nations due to it's quick growth potential built off it's population modifiers. It loses a little steam as a nation matures though as emphasis shifts from pure growth (improvement slots) to reducing upkeep costs and income. The 5BR and 8BR come more into play at this level as they usually have all the resource driven upkeep reduction modifiers and a nation has/is obtaining the wonders with population modifiers.

A follow up question from myself:

At what point is it best to switch from a 3BR to an 8BR?

The best trade set is one that fits your native resources while providing respectable population, happiness, infrastructure cost and upkeep reduction, and income bonuses. Everyone loves the 3BR, but if you roll (create a nation with) lead and silver as your native resources, you have pretty much zero odds of getting into a 3BR. But, if you get in a trade circle with coal, gems, gold, oil, wine, furs, fish, iron, lumber, and a wildcard, the eleven non-wildcard resources will get you 14 happiness, a 13.4% population boost, a 16% reduction to infra cost and a 17% reduction in infra bills, and $13. Now, this doesn't have the whopping 30% population boost of a 3BR or the 35% infra cost reduction and 21% infra bills reduction of a 5BR, but it's certainly better than hoping that a 3BR with lead and silver as wildcards happens to pop up.

Again, it depends on your resources. Keep in mind, only the construction and beer resources (aluminum, iron, lumber, marble, water, and wheat, and fish, if you opt out of the uranium in the 8BR) cross over between the 3BR and 5BR. The 8BR is really more of a military setup; it's equivalent to the 5BR in infra cost and upkeep, and is only in the military upkeep and efficiency where the 8BR outshines the 5BR.
