She Who Controls Wealth...Controls the World

It is hard to pinpoint a rise or a fall for any nation until the nation is easily seen to be falling to its death or rising to the top of perpetual power. Sarah had always had a disdain for such titles, "Golden Ages", "Ages of Prosperity", even if she had used such words and phrases in her speeches. They made the population cheer and understand this was their time, but never before in such a chaotic world could such things be taken away like rug under your feet. Indeed, the Hansa was prosperous. Brisbane had been rebuilt to its shining glory since the attack of the last raving madman in a desperate attempt to save what was left of his dignity and grace as his nation was eaten up around him. Sarah and her country had recovered and not only had they recovered but had transformed the Commonwealth into not only a cultural empire, but the beginnings of an economic one as well.

Karl van Donop, the CEO of the Pacific Trading Company smiled at the building in front of him as he opened the black limousine door for Sarah. The culmination of the Hanseatic Economic Union and the full power of the Pacific Trading Company came to this. "Milady, my I present to you the Headquarters of the Pacific Trading Company and the Hub of the Hanseatic Economic Union!"

As Sarah stepped out of the limousine, the gray building located on Park Street stretched out in front of her. Its gilded walls and marble columns have a daunting image at the true extent of the economic influence that the Hanseatic Mark could possess in the future. But until this time, there was really nothing that could be done. In truth, the Union was still small. Yuktobania, Dranagg, Aiginor, and the Commonwealth all shared the same currency, but they were divided as individual companies competed in their own markets. Yuktobanian markets still controlled Russia and Hanseatic markets the Pacific. Sarah dreamed of a day when Hanseatic markets would be thriving on every city on Earth, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas. Free Enterprise and Adam Smith's dream would finally be realized. Today, they would take a step in that direction.

"The Brisbane Stock Exchange." She said reaching the engraved lettering on the top of the building. "Beautiful Karl, very nice."

"Ah, but milady, that's only the beginning. Please. Come with me. You are our esteemed guest today."

Karl took Sarah's hand as they walked through the great bronze doors onto a polished wooden floor. Around them were dozens of men and women, dressed in their best, carrying leather briefcases to and from offices located along the hallways. "Thousands of companies will be located here, or at least their representatives. Trade across the entire world, centralized for the Hanseatic Mark for our eyes to monitor and reflect upon. Eventually, we will pass up the Talon and the other currencies in the region." He laughed and brought her close. "Think of this milady as the next flower to put into your Empire, economic superiority in addition to culture."

Sarah chuckled. "Well for also those nations that find capitalism so tart and overused, perhaps we can give them a bit of a wake up call."

"Exactly milady. Exactly." He said opening another set of doors, reflecting a great marble balcony overlooking the hub of the Market. Computer screens darted off in every direction and a crowd of people looking up at the balcony. "This is the debut of our Stock Exchange Lady Tintagyl. Investors from around the Commonwealth, the Union, and the world are here." He handed her a hammer. "Send us into the new age."

Sarah walked over to the bell on the corner of the balcony and waved to the crowd. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome, welcome to a new age of capitalism and wealth." She said as she hit the bell. The echo pierced the room as papers flew in the air in celebration. The Brisbane Stock Exchange was open for business.

OOC: Congrats, Sarah!

IC: Promised Land extends a hearty congratulations to its neighbor, friend, and ally on the firm establishment of their stock exchange.

Already talks are beginning to commence among businessmen and women, talks of more heavily investing between our nations.

ic:

The Imperial Sovereign Wealth Fund requests access to trade on this exchange. We could act as market makers, providing a steady securities supply for purchase and trade to the public. We'll also help the market tool up with our advanced commodities algorithms to help stabilize supply levels and prices of raw materials resources.

ooc:

Congrats Sarah!
