It was a day of mourning as the bodies of those that had died at the Dragon Empire border were brought back to be buried by their families and as shood be given a parade was held and the citizens turned up in the hundreds to honour the fallen. Valerie herself stood on a platform saluting each and every fallen soldier that passed her disregarding the advice that she should be recovering from her injuries. What she could see in the faces of her citizens echoed in her own, she and they were furious at the Dragon Empire for causing these deaths that were not needed. She had already set a law in place to stop any Dragon Empire citizen from entering the city except those that were required by the surrender terms. She also had engineers assigned to the border to demolish the land within fifty miles of the DMZ so that there will be no cover for anyone to get across and after that the entire border will be fortified and the now clear area will be mined so that no one will ever be able to cross it.

Now though Pax Pacis stood alone and with her brother still on the loose Valerie felt that she needed security and allies and that was why she contacted General Davies both to see him personally and to talk to him as a representative of Promised Land.

Davies, as he walked off the plane, took in the sight of so many dead, and the damage wrought by the coup. it sickened him, as the results of battle always did, but he refused to look away. He'd had a part in this, however small it had been, and he was never one for hiding from the truth.

He waited for a particularly long funeral procession to pass, taking his cap off to show his respect for the fallen, before continuing to his destination, trailed by three armed guards and led by a fourth.

Arriving at his destination he encountered the newly placed security guards consisting of those same armed women he had met before. After checking his gaurds and General Davies over they parted and allowed Valerie through. Compared to the young beautiful woman he had danced with at the ball she now looked terrible. Her face had a number of bruises and a fair number of scratches, she was also not breathing correctly and the most obvious and worse sign of her injuries was the crimson cloth that was wrapped around her destroyed eye to protect it from infection. "Hello General its good to see you again" she said honestly and joyfully.

He'd been told about her injuries, but still, it was a shock to actually see them in person. he couldn't help but wince a little, as he felt almost a sympathetic pain.

But it was over quickly, and he smiled, even if it was a little strained. "As am I, though I wish the circumstances could have been better, my dear."

Being called "my dear" by Davies was more uplifting than any drug her doctors could give her and her smile widened as she walked over to him and wrapped her arms about in an embrace not caring who saw it, after a few seconds she released him and pointed to a nearby armoured humvee. "Its not the most expensive vehicle but its safe. Care to join me Davies?" she asked with a smile and a wink.

He returned the hug in equal measure, and his smile became less strained at the signs of her lifted spirits.

"I would be delighted to join you," he said. "And at the moment, safety is probably more important than anything else."

Valerie lead General Davies to the Humvee and climbed in, still holding Davies hand as he climbed inside. Once inside she settled into a resting position against Davies her head on his shoulder and taking a short breath rest she turned to face the man she loved "Davies Pax Pacis is in trouble, we just had a government that was working towards our downfall, our military is well gone due to the Dragon Empire and the people want revenge for the deaths of their loved ones. We need allies right now and I need to know if Promised Land will enter a treaty with us".

OOC: You do know that's actually his last name, right? If so, and she's reverting to military tradition of using surnames, then simply ignore this query...:D

IC: He followed silently as they entered the vehicle. If they hadn't still been holding hands, he would have put his arm around her shoulders; even so, he was comfortable in the position they were in.

Listerning carefully to every word she spoke, he smiled re-assuringly. "Rest assured, neither I nor my advisors consider this change in government as having absolved us of any responsibility to you. You are still under our protection."

He sighed. "We would rather not place you under any responsibility to defend us if we are attacked, but if it would make you more comfortable, we could probably work something out. Do you want me to station some of our troops in your nation until things settle down again?"

OOC: She doesn't know his first name though as he hasn't ever told her it.

IC: "I am sure that the people would gladly assist Promised Land after the show of support you have given us and I would always support you and right now we need that support. We and I can't stand alone anymore" said Valerie seriously as she tightened her grip onto Davies hand and leaned forward and kissed him softly on his lips letting all her fear and pain flow out into a feeling of love.

OOC: I could swear he used his full name in the message he sent asking if there was anything she could do...meh, perhaps it can be blamed on a faulty transmission.

IC: He was about to nod in agreement when she leand in and kissed him. he turned more fully to meet the kiss, and wrapped his free arm around her shoulder, gently, in case she had more injuries that he couldn't see, and letting her know that he was there, and cared for her.

When they finally had to break apart, more of a need for air than anything else, he touched his forehead to hers, looking deeply into her one good eye.

"If you honestly believe that to be the best course, I will not stop you. I am willing to sign a Mutual Defence Pact, if only to give you and your people peace of mind, but nothing higher. In the case we ever go into an aggressive war, I will NOT ask you to help in that battle."

The deaths of all those that had died in their disastrous offensive against the Dragon Empire weighed heavily in his mind, but it was eased somewhat by the firm statement he made. He would not be responsible for more of her people dieing unnecessarily.

The Empire's monitor arrived. He was dressed in black, a recognition of the state of mourning within the country. He brought with him a wreath. His name was George Clarence. George was a very simple man, bit of a security background, but not much one for a lot of talk or hype. He laid the wreath at the place being set aside for the fallen paying his respects to the soldiers who had lost their lives in the previous administration's gamble. He then walked back into town looking for Valarie and the members of the executive branch.

"I believe that will work as my people feel they owe you a debt that can never be repaid as do I. If it wasn't for your soldiers assistance we would never have uncovered my brother's plot and Pax Pacis would be nothing but ruins now and Westly I know you are older than me but I don't care I love you with everything I have and I always will" she said as she kissed Westly for the second time embracing him regardless of the pain it caused her.

The monitor was met by a group of policemen who escorted Mr Clarence away from the two centre he was walking towards as they couldn't promise his safety from the angry citizens. He was taken to a train station that was cleared and was told that he would be taken to the government building where he would meet Valerie however, he was quite unlucky as there was roughly a twenty minute delay to the train system.

Again, he smiled at her proclamation, though this time with a hint of sadness. There were things he'd done, orders he'd given, that he was not proud of. What would she think when she was told of these? But that was a matter for another time. He returned her embrace once again, still doing his best to avoid hurting her, though that was made difficult by her own passionate actions.

After a long few delightful seconds she broke the kiss with a smile and placed her head across Westly's chest whilst also looking at the driver. "Take us to the government palace driver, I think the Dragon Empire monitor will be arriving some time soon" she said with a sigh and at her command the driver started the humvee and drove off heading down the streets whilst the new security measures consisting of two of the new "Dragon" UAV's flew above them guarding them and watching for any hostiles.

They remained in that position for some time, her head reasting on his chest, and his arm wrapped carefully around her shoulders.

He didn't need to ask if she wanted him there for her first meeting with the monitor from the Dragon Empire. As a representative of a state that had a vested interest in hers, he would need to be there anyway.

OOC: Is that MV's cue to reply once again?

George Clarence departed the train. He looked around the terminal he had arrived at a bit disoriented as it was his first time in this area. Eventually he stumbled upon Anthony and Valerie, "Regards Lady and Gents. I just got back from the burial grounds and paying respect to the lost. My brother's in the hospital from the fighting. Lost his foot to one of our own damned mines wouldn't you know it? Anyhow.. ahem.. I think I' failed to introduce myself. I'm George Clarence, newly designated ambassador to the state of Pax Pacis." He heard the drone fly over and smiled up and waved at it kindly.

"Sorry for the intrusions, but you must know after that last spate of affairs with the invasion of all there's going to be a bit of paranoia for a while. Trust me though when I say I will work my hardest to ensure those fears remain for as short of time as possible. Am I to assume I'm in the presence of Lady Valarie and General Davies?"

Valerie looked over Mr Clarence with her one good eye and shook her head before looking to Westly. "It seems the Dragon Empire "advisor" is here to make sure I behave like a good little girl" she said with a innocent look to her features before she became serious again and turned back to Mr Clarence. "Yes you stand before Valerie though please be respectful its Lady Kingswell only my friends and loved ones can call me Valerie" putting her arm around Westly to show who she meant, of course the laughs from the police officers and guards also added emphasis to the statement.

He pulled up his dossier.. "Ah.. sorry. Jet lag. I hadn't notice they had the first and last names in reverse order on this document. Please forgive me Lady Kingswell. It's only to get a pulse on the matter. We're relatively sure you're well behaved but can't afford the added risk you know?"

"Risk, heh I wonder what threat or risk you are all so worried about from Pax Pacis. Regardless let us head inside where we can officialy hold our first meeting" said Valerie turning away and leading Westly into the building and up the stairs into her new office where she had a chair brought across and placed next to her own and once she was happy with it she sat down beckoning for Westly to sit next to her.

He came in and sat down, "The risk we are concerned about is that another rogue government will come to power and destabilize the region. I'm here as an internal monitor to ensure your executive power remains only in your hand, that your decisions are your own and your own only.. that way there is no question as to who holds the authority and responsibility for the actions of your nation. If those actions aren't hostile to us.. then we have no concerns at all. This also gives you a level of security in that we can recognize internal threats to your administration and help if necessary."

Valerie immediatly pointed a finger straight at the man's chest as he finished speaking before angrily replying "First of all I will never ask for help from the Dragon Empire, you are only here becuase I am forced to by the surrender terms as I have warned before any other Dragon Empire citizens entering our country will be removed with force if neccessary and secondly other than our two half built aircraft carriers and our diminished airforce we have nothing that could threaten you oh and yes on that matter thank you for almost totally destroying this nation's military whilst we were in the process of taking control of the government you made the situation much worse".

"Madame, if you were in our position, all you would see would have been radio signals at random from people who may or may not have any real power in your state.. or which might have been an intelligence operation intent on deceiving us. Until your actions proved your words true we had to assume the worst. That said, I make no apology for my state's actions.. they were necessary for the security of my people.. and you only have your state's previous administration to blame for it. So if you would, please kindly remove your finger from my chest and take a look deep look into the mirror of your nation's soul.. a soul currently troubled by past acts of aggression but that you and you alone can save."

"Urghh I would call you an idiot but we havn't really had time to release too much information about the events leading up to and during the attack so let me fill you in. As you may or may not know I was ruler of the nation of Helzan for a time until I left and the nation joined the GRN well I had a brother who felt he was cheated out of a position of power and as since had plotted revenge against me. His plan was quite genius as he knew Pax Pacis was my hope and dream and so after I left he was given the oppurtunity to plant a government under his control whose sole purpose was to destroy Pax Pacis and if it wasn't for my rebels and Promised Land that would have happened. I sustained these injuries fighting my own brother who fled without being caught and who I know have to watch for and with my people hungry for revenge he could gain a lot of supporters as for saving the soul of this nation I don't need you to tell me that as soon as your damn nation gets rid of those peace terms you will be out of here before you know it" replied Valerie.
