  1. I have stated TOP's side of the story. Whether or not you choose to take our word on the matter is your own decision. If you wish to discuss this issue further, feel free to contact myself or another member of TOP government via IRC.
  2. This was never TOP's position; if such was said, then it was said without our prior consent.
  3. While I dislike the need to contradict a fellow alliance member in public, I feel it necessary to note that the bolded portion above is incorrect.
  4. Official Announcement from The Order of the Paradox Treaty Cancellation Of all TOP's mutual-defense treaties, the MDoAP we hold with the New Pacific Order is the oldest. We and Pacifica have been through much together, good and bad, in the two and a half years since the treaty was signed. Unfortunately, events have shaken our faith in the validity of the friendship between our two alliances; actions on the part of Pacifica have convinced us that they view us not as friends, but rather merely as a strategic asset, and we do not wish to continue such a relationship. The Order of the Paradox hereby cancels the MDoAP in existence between we and the New Pacific Order. This was not an easy decision; it was reached after weeks of discussion on the issue. Ultimately, we determined that cancellation of the treaty was the most fitting course of action in this situation. We wish Pacifica all the best, and we hope that the relationship between us will see repair in the future. Signed, Crymson, Grandmaster Dr. Dan, Grand Hospitaller SomeGuy, Grand Chancellor
  5. Official Announcement from The Order of the Paradox Declaration of War The Order of the Paradox hereby declares war on Ordinary Men Fighting Giants (OMFG), per the text of our MDoAP with Umbrella. Signed, Crymson, Grandmaster Dr. Dan, Grand Hospitaller SomeGuy, Grand Chancellor
  6. We have been in constant and close contact with your leadership since this conflict began, and I am fairly certain that they do not interpret our actions as an insult.
  7. We salute our brothers at TSO! It's an honor to be fighting alongside you.
  8. Unless you want this thread to become a festival of logdumping, the latter would likely be better. Edit: 'Longdumping' changed to 'Logdumping.' Typing error.
  9. 1. The discussion in question between TOP and the NPO (in this case, DM/Vektor) was adjourned given Moo's absence. The discussion is hence not complete, and so the logs have not yet been posted to our membership. Further, I can assure you that at the very least the vast majority of TOP's membership would find the apology in question as empty and pointless (see point #3) as myself and the other members of TOP government who were present viewed it to be. 2. I do not recall having been told that the terms Moo offered would be the last given, nor was I or any other member of TOP at any time notified that failure of the discussions in question would unequivocally lead to a declaration of war upon OV. 3. You are using my words out of context. I stated that apologies---such as the apology in question (see point #1)---for actions undertaken with full awareness of the consequences were meaningless; such apologies entail the one apologizing being not sorry for having committed the action, but instead simply regretful for the negative consequences that it brought upon them. Further, never did I flatly proclaim that TOP found the NPO's perspective on the issue irrelevant. I stated that we did not share their perspective on the issue, and that we disagreed with the reasoning behind their commission of the actions in question. 4. You are again using my words out of context. Darkmistress stated the NPO's removal of protection of Polar in August---many of the NPO's allies were at the time holding back from declaring war on Polar only out of respect for the NPO's wishes that this not occur---as proof that the NPO gave thought to the wishes of its allies. In response, I brought up the fact that the NPO had---against the wishes of the aforementioned numerous allies of Pacifica who wished to initiate military operations against Polaris---been protecting the NpO for a significant period prior to that. By this stage of the conversation, it was clear that the discussion was going nowhere, and it was decided to adjourn and re-convene at a time when Moo could be present to give his perspective on the recent events. From what you've said here (all of it), I can only assume that you did not actually see the logs.
  10. Official Announcement from The Order of the Paradox Declaration of War Pursuant to the ODP clause of the Orange Unity Treaty (article 4, subsection II), TOP hereby declares war on the United Purple Nations, Invicta and Echelon, for attacks upon R&R, upon Orion, and upon several OUT signatories, respectively. Pursuant to the OA clause (article 2, subsection 5) of the MDoAP between TOP and Umbrella, TOP hereby declares war upon the Boards Alliance of Protectorate States. Signed, Crymson, Grandmaster Dr. Dan, Grand Hospitaller SomeGuy, Grand Chancellor
  11. Official Announcement from The Order of the Paradox Earlier today, TOP relayed to the government of the Multicolored Cross-X Alliance our decision to cancel the Mutual Defense and Optional Aggression Pact (MDoAP) in existence between our two alliances. We wish them well in the future. Note that per the clause in the treaty regarding cancellation, this MDoAP will remain in effect for seventy-two hours following this announcement. A seven-day period of non-aggression will reign after said seventy-two hours are up. Signed, Crymson, Grandmaster Dr. Dan, Grand Hospitaller SomeGuy, Grand Chancellor
  12. Joint TSO/TOP Announcement -- Over a month ago, The Order of the Paradox (TOP) and The Sweet Oblivion (TSO) signed a protectorate agreement. Since then, the friendship between us has continued to strengthen and grow. Today, we reflect this with the upgrade of our protectorate agreement to a full Mutual Defense and Optional Aggression Pact (MDoAP). May it last!
  13. Official Announcement from The Order of the Paradox Withdrawal from the Continuum Seventy-two hours ago, we announced our intent to invoke clause VI. A of the Möbius Accords and withdraw from the Continuum. As the seventy-two hour cancellation clause of the treaty has been fulfilled, we will now be officially departing the bloc. We ask that nobody begin theorizing or speculating on the reasons for our exit, as there is nothing to speculate on. Our departure from the Continuum has nothing to do with overt hostility or battle plans of any sort. This is not a prelude to war. Indeed, TOP still has very close friends within the bloc. Our withdrawal came about simply because our membership felt that Q was no longer a fitting place for us. We thank the other signatories of the Continuum for the good times we have all shared over the last 17 months; this is not goodbye to them, but rather only the end of this particular chapter in our mutual history. Signed, The 18th Paradox Council Grandmaster: Crymson Grand Chancellor: Someguy Grand Hospitaller: Dr. Dan The 19th Session of the Heptagon Tony the Tiger Monkeydee Avernite DJPenguin Bodvar Jarl Tex Timberland
  14. Ejay by a mile. You've got talent, dude.
  15. Those who, for whatever reason, thought that members of TOP and Umbrella shared any real enmity in this thread, should be aware that TOP and Umbrella did not share any real enmity in this thread. We are both fortunate to have memberships who are blessed with vibrant senses of humour (spelled with a 'u'). Carry on.
  16. Official Announcement from The Order of the Paradox Elections Results The February elections of The Order have concluded. As always, we'd like to thank all of those who participated in the elections process. Without further ado, I'd like to present to you the new Council and Heptagon of The Order of the Paradox: The 17th Paradox Council: Grandmaster: Saber Grand Chancellor: Feanor Grand Hospitaller: Dr. Dan 19th Session of the Heptagon Bodvar Jarl (incoming) Timberland (incoming) Blue Lightning (incoming) jstep Khyber DJPenguin Unspeakable Evil Hail Paradoxia!
  17. TOP will buy all of it, if that can be arranged. o/
  18. PM me: http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_d...Nation_ID=33521
  19. OK. Give me opinions on this idea, please. At the moment, a nation cannot disband troops if it has launched an attack in the last two days. How about the following? This will solve the problem of turtling, at least for awhile (provided cautious attacks are used), and it's realistic also; after all, why would a nation disband its own army in a time of war or deliberately cause itself to descend into anarchy? and/or This, if done alone, would prevent turtling nations from doing any damage at all. This seems a fair trade-off, and in conjunction with the first idea I think it could fix a lot of problems in the war system; nations couldn't deliberately turtle, and once turtled (all troops killed), they couldn't do any damage.
  20. It doesn't matter. It means he can escape damage DURING that war. It shouldn't be so. @WadofLint: if one turtles, one will receive one defeat alert per day. He or she will lose 40 infrastructure, 10 tech and some money, in addition to being thrown into anarchy. While this may seem like a lot, it is in fact only equal to two successful ground attacks. If one has two opponents, then one is dodging a bullet by doing this.
  21. So, I got this message from a nice member of the GPA today. This is somebody who, upon being attacked and anarchied, immediately sold off all of his troops and has been contenting himself with lobbing cruise missiles twice a day. I'm sure this issue has been brought up repeatedly, but, needless to say, it's annoying that the guy's decision to NOT defend himself is actually REDUCING the damage that his nation takes in this war; instead of eating damage from six ground attacks per day (assuming three nations attacking him, which is currently the case), he takes only damage equivalent to two successful attacks. Thus, he is sustaining infrastructure damage in the amount of 40 per day, rather than the possible maximum of 120, for a differential of 80; were he involved in three offensive wars and three defensive wars, the differential between his actual damage sustained from ground attacks and the maximum would rise to an incredible 200! It's very frustrating, and it makes a mockery of the war system. The message: Of course, only the part in bold lettering is pertinent to the question at hand. Regardless, I--and, I'm sure, many others--feel this needs to be addressed. The problem is that I don't know how it could possibly be addressed without a significant overhaul of game mechanics. Let's brainstorm a bit.
