  1. A response to the communique read as follows: "The government will take no military action against any nation at this time. However, we request permission to begin construction of a base on the western coast of Java. This would be operated by our military and would serve the purpose of guarding our territorial interests to the west. If this is agreed to, all other forces in Indonesia will be removed."
  2. Earlier today, a summit meeting was proposed by the Oceanic Federation. Oceania's president, Charles Bloy, cordially invites the leaders of Northlands, France, the United Kingdom, and a few other concerned parties to a conference in Midisle. The conference will pertain to the overall disposition of the Pacific region. It is expected that the President will have little pink cupcakes available to quench the leaders' munchies. A birds-eye view of Midisle.
  3. With "Empire of" centered over "Great Britain," of course.
  4. A communique from the OFS Hammer was sent: "We are on a diplomatic mission. Please state the nature of your business."
  5. "Well, we're definitely interested in a non-aggression treaty. We're also seeking to expand export market to include North America and I think such business would benefit us both greatly. What say you?"
  6. If Novak is gone, I'd like to claim protectorate over Australia.
  7. Once the doors had been closed... [Private] "The safety of the region is our concern as well," she assured. "You know, one idea we've been toying with is a gradual buildup toward a treaty organization of nations with a presence in the Pacific. Sort of a loose trading and military conference that would keep peace and help check continental Asian powers. Of course, you're the first to know and maybe, if things work out, the other players in the region could be invited. "But that's getting ahead of ourselves... We had thought about offering an exchange of military bases and a chance for us to mutually expand our import/export influence. What are your thoughts?"
  8. I'm claiming England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, please. Ruby red is greatly preferred, if possible. Thanks.
  9. We graciously accept the invitation and will dispatch the Minister for Europe himself to establish a firm relationship. We do insist upon hearing your concerns regarding past administrations, as this is vital for our own overall stability, as well as that of the region.
  10. His Majesty's Foreign Office returns the recognition and expresses gratitude for the invitation. The Foreign Minister has promptly dispatched an envoy to the Northlands who awaits reception.
  11. The arrival of the Governor in the city of Midisle was met with the usual crowd of reporters and photographers. A private meeting between the Governor and newly appointed Secretary of Defense Bryony Williamson, who had scheduled a private conference and a public press release, granted the Governor had the time for the latter. "Your Excellency, it's a great pleasure to have you in our capital. Just follow us and we'll get things underway. Where shall we begin?"
  12. With air raids coming to a close, the skies cleared over the islands. The initial firefighting had stopped, the surprise land operation a success. Now an uneasy calm was finally in sight. A tight naval blockade around Sumbawa and Komodo remained to provide protection for the remaining marines and sailors as they secured various areas of importance. The blockade's northernmost outposts were just south of the Bay of Bengal.
  13. The Oceanic Federation welcomed the French gesture and was prepared to issue a warm reception for the diplomatic envoy. There would be important things to discuss.
  14. The Empire of Great Britain Millions the world over are proud to call themselves Britons, subjects of His Majesty the King. Hallmark of free government, the Empire is the proud overseer of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Its capital is London and it is indeed a mighty city, as we are told by Samuel Johnson: "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." With goodwill and peaceful intentions for all nations, the British people extend their hands in friendship, seeking brotherhood and to establish close ties with all those who admire liberty and justice. ooc: very sleepy... more tomorrow...
  15. The President had just barely dozed off on board his plane, fast on its way to a forward operating base where he was to make a scheduled appearance. He would have to address the Assembly the next afternoon and make a case for the sudden movement west. He was roused from his sleep by an aide who brought word from his air force and army generals that an emergency had arisen. He brought himself to the next cabin within a few minutes and had been briefed about the Tianxian decision. All missile defense systems were readied and a portion of the fleet had been positioned to the north of Irian Jaya, ready to engage should he give the word. "Let's keep everything ready, but I want no action taken yet. Send the following reply... 'There is no large-scale or long-term territorial ambition in Indonesia. These are raids intended to weed out criminals whom our intelligence suggests have escaped to this region. At any rate, the land that was ceded to your nation includes little east of Borneo or southeast of Sumatra. That land is part of the maritime continent and the Oceanic region and not the Asian land that you took over.' Send that. And try to get me on the phone with someone from their administration -- a conference would be better! Let's just hold our position in the waters around Sumbawa and sit tight for a while." "Yes, Mr President." His aides and generals were fast at work.
  16. An emergency address from President Bloy: "My fellow citizens, good evening. Tonight, on my orders, our armed forces have been deployed to the islands of Indonesia to disarm the Nationalist renegades, to free the people, and to ensure the peace and security of our nation. Our intelligence has long pointed to Indonesia being the location for training camps, logistics facilities, weapons development centers and strongholds of the Nationalist Party and its minions. We have no ambitions in the region except to eliminate this grave threat. We ensure the safety of the innocents and their loved ones. I want you to know that our forces will be coming home when this job is done. We enter this conflict reluctantly, but with confidence. We will not live at the mercy of a violent, racist and segregationist band of separatists who threaten the peace of the region. It is for this reason that we will accept no half measures. We will bring and ensure freedom to all in this region and we will do this by establishing naval outposts that face the Indian Ocean, securing the sea lanes and providing security for our people. This conflict may be prolonged, but it will end in our victory. God bless our nation and those who keep it safe."
  17. The heavy pre-dawn mist that bathed the coast of Komodo Island was momentarily brightened, the light from the fire diffused amid the vapor. The crescendo came moments later, when the fire burst through the misty veil and scorched the earth beneath it. Enormous aircraft carriers loomed in the ever-shortening distance, launching from their decks scores of roaring monsters that disappeared across the island as quickly as they appeared on the coast. The radio broadcast flooded the airwaves -- it was shocking to those who had no reason to suspect an attack and welcome to those who prayed for it to come. Federation President Charles Milton Bloy addressed the islanders: "The day of your liberation has come. Do not fear. You will be safe." The Nationalist Party leaders had escaped to the west and several factions had been thrown together around their leadership in Indonesia. At least, this is what the President said in his official address. Skeptics remained skeptical and the faithful remained in their own reveries. The motives for the action were uncertain to a great many. Scant fortifications were annihilated within thirty minutes. A contingent of Federal marines and naval operatives, about 8,000 strong, landed and began the occupation, supported by light artillery. Rebel militias were amassing and, ragtag though they were assumed to be, their expertise in guerrilla warfare was not to be underestimated. A naval blockade of Komodo Island and of the Great Lakes Republic territory of Sumbawa. Once again, war was underway.
  18. I'm claiming Kamchatka as a Federation protectorate. Thanks.
  19. "We would love to talk about the possibility of a treaty between our nations and about its parameters."
  20. Raiding is bad? !@#$%*, please... Don't blame the bullies -- they're just doing what they've been doing since the beginning. Blame weaklings who sit there, drooling, unwilling to join a strong alliance and seek safety (or fight) for themselves. Just get up, crack that $%&@in' bully, and realize that it's no one's responsibility to look out for you in this world. Come on, now!
