1. Both IAA and Nemesis knew 2 days after I found out about talks with TOOL. When I found out, nothing was real, it was all still talk and speculation and stuff like that. When talks with TOOL became real we made sure are allies knew we were talking. They knew from that very point that an ODP clause was going to be attached as I told them it is that way with all TOOL PIATs. That very topic was what all the debate was about. Things were worked out with IAA as they understood that the treaty wouldn't be upgraded to a real full blown military treaty and it was supposed to be symbolic. We couldn't seem to get things worked out with Nemesis, but on their request we did at least put things on hold until after their terms with TOOL were finished. After the terms ended conversations moved forward. So, "why did you feel the need to lie and keep the ODP a secert ?" is, well, a false statement or at least a misunderstood one. Everyone knew from the start that an ODP clause was involved with the PIAT.
2. We didn't think it was going to be needed. Not everyone shares in Ben's feelings. Sometimes hotheads speak out of turn and make things worse. To keep it from further happening the gag was put in place.
3. Probably because I'm an idiot and didn't back read. I'm assuming your talking about the end of the Karma war when I said this:
In GW1 a stalemate ended the war, in GW2 LOSS won its battle, but its allies lost the overall war, in GW3 LOSS lost everything, but now in the Karma war not only was LOSS leaving the battlefield victorious, but in the overall war LOSS’s allies were doing the same.
Its a mistake on my part. I even acknowledge the win in the actual Great War portion of the history:
Calling on all their friends, which LoSS was apart of, LUE stood up to The Orders and formed the CoaLUEtion, a wartime coalition built to fight against the growing power of The Orders. LOSS was fighting on the side of the CoaLUEition and participated in its first victory in a large-scale war.
Honestly the only reason I can think of for the mistake is I was on vacation from BOB for a few months while writing it and didn't pay close enough to details.
4.
im probably going to hit someone
Yes, Bob, are pretty art work has fallen apart.
5. Wow, just WOW! This doesn't get you off the hook though, you still have to bring the hamburgers to the next alliance cookout.
6. Yeah it happens. We are sneaky devils like that.
7. After all the somewhat obsessive trolling you have done to LOSS, I would really love to pay you back for everything in this celebration thread. But I'm not like that and as much issue as you have had with LOSS and "Unproven Myths" I'll say to you that two years for anyone is an accomplishment.
8.
So how do your allies know that you have their backs? With your great history as using allies just as strategic points, what have you done to not make the same mistakes?
I don't know if it was such a "great history of using allies" as more like a year of using allies. 1 bad year out of 4. Yeah its not an excuse, but everyone has to live with the choices they make. Basically if I could remove 2008 from our history I would. We made a lot of compromises to ourselves. But you ask about allies as strategic points, other than the choices we made in the NoCB war (I regret) and the treaties that we dropped leading up to Karma (which I don't regret) we have fought by our treaty partners every time we have been called upon. Our allies in the Great war era, our allies since the Karma war. We have fought for protectorates when 57th attacked Browncoats, we have fought for our military partners when Genesis attacked Nemesis, we have fought for our bloc when TOOL attacked Sparta. We have given our support in verbal conflicts where diplomacy wins out over war. In the end we can say we have our allies back all we want, they are the ones that have to trust us. If they don't trust us enough to believe we have their backs then they probably won't stay tied with us. Our Nemesis treaty is now over a year old and NOIR and IAA come right behind it. We have been with LOUD, HOG, and KOTC forever. We are loyal to those allies we call brothers. They know it and we know it. In the end it comes down to trust and seeing as how they have stuck with us as we have them, I don't think trust is in question.
9. Now these guys...I can love. Proud to stand by you.
10. I hate it, but I had an online class that forced us to create an account. This gave me a reason to dust the account off.
11.
I love you guys . What's up LoSS? Remember your CDS buddies?
Always and forever! Black Power!
12. Oh I know it was real, I don't need the wiki. Its in our treaty vault under ended treaties as well as the ToA treaty betweeen the two of us. Did you know of that one? I got plenty of answers, it was just a toss up on how I wanted to write it. If I mentioned every treaty LOSS signed in those days I would quit before I finished with the NAPS alone. In the later more present years we don't sign as many so they tend to get mentioned, especially since I am here for them and know full well what leads to the signing of them.
13.
Why does LoSS's history somehow forget to mention the short-leved MDP with the NADC?
I wrote the history. And the short lived treaty was called The Minerva Pact. The reason is the treaty was created before my arrival to BOB. It was one of a few treaties that had no mention because I didn't get a lot of straight answers to things happening pre GW3. The League was highly documented on the OWF and wiki so I could write about that. I was able to get a bit of info on the GW1 groups. So pretty much all treaties outside of those blocs were left out due to lack of data. After my arrival I was able to document a lot better and thus treaties were tracked and added to the history at a better rate. Sorry about that, but don't feel alone. Your not the only one left out. Matter of fact I think GOONS asked why the Mutual Tension Pact (MTP) between us wasn't included. Same reason.
14.
yet even with the political challenges, you chose to accept the cause of those problems into your ranks? Whether there was poaching or not, if you were concerned about somebody picking fights with Valhalla, accepting the members that were the cause of that problem, or the problems with Sparta for that matter, doesn't seem to make much sense to me. and TBH, Timeline said that LoSS had confronted him about joining their ranks while he was a government member in TBH... so if there were concerns about possible poaching... the fact that he contacted people both that he brought to the alliance and didn't bring to the alliance and pulled TBH apart in an attempt to move members over to LoSS was a classless act, and sounds a hell of a lot like poaching to me. I still think LoSS is classless, but that's just this mans opinion. I mean come on man, a protectorate is like an extension of your own alliance. It was cheap and you know it, yet you still won't admit it.
Yep, we accepted some of those problems into our ranks. Because like Ben said, it wasn't everyone that had a problem with TBH's issues. And depending on who was talked to at the time, it wasn't always Timeline that was causing the problems. Timeline told me he was fixing to quit the TBH and leave BOB because TBH was getting to much for him. I told him he would always have a spot in LOSS, as I would and have told any member of our protectorate alliances. As you said protectorates are like an extension, that means they always have a home at LOSS, so if someone has problems and are thinking about quitting your going to be damn sure I'm going to make sure they know they have other choices than quitting. I told him he had a spot in LOSS and left it at that. He and the others made their own decisions. Something was wrong in TBH that they felt they needed to leave. They did so. If Timeline was the problem for TBH then that should have been a good thing to be getting the cancer cut out of them. Classless or not, I would rather someone find a happy place rather than quit BOB. You are entitled to your opinion and I'm sorry you feel that way. Your not the only one that feels that way about us. Its all a matter of opinions, because why its classless to some it was a sigh of relief for others. I wish I recognized you so this could be hashed out a bit more, but it is what it is.
15. So try http://cn-loss.net.
16. When is the last time you logged in? Its got a big time frame. If someone hasn't logged on within a month then there are other issues to deal with.
17. Depending on when you last posted yes. We have a MOD that auto deactivates accounts after a certain point of no posts.
18. All I can say Krunk is that you know you broke it....and now everyone else will to
19. One thing that is not being said in the discussion about the treaties that were signed is that other than the Greenland Republic all of our military treaties post Pink up to the drop were for strategic reasons, which was stated, or the fact that it was a 1 on 2 or 3 friend treaty. What I mean by that is this, our leadership at the time made friends in those alliances. But most of the government never knew or had any friends within those alliances. So it wasn't two best buddy alliances coming together to be friends, it was our leaders at the time getting treaties with their friends. It was no fault of theirs, the fault lies with the rest of the government for not putting a stop to it until it was to late. TBB you were our friend and you did go to bat for us getting us off Pink and the rest of our terms. It was great we loved you for it and when Drugs said hey TPF helped us out (he meant TBB helped us out) we should sign with them the rest of us jumped on it. We were so ecstatic about finally being free to do what we wanted that we jumped at the possibility. It wasn't because we were friends with TPF, it was because we were frineds with TBB. By the time the drop rolled about, I don't think TBB was even in TPF anymore. I maybe wrong, but I think he was retired at the time or something like that. As a government we had little or no contact with TPF outside of TBB. Maybe 1 or 2 of us did, but not as a group. The NPO treaty, that was a fun one. There is a reason that the first treaty we signed once we got off terms was with NPO. It wasn't a coincidence. This is coming second hand from listening over the years, but from what I gather, NPO was consolidating strength behind it to make sure it had allies if something ever occurred between it and Polar. Boy I bet they were surprised when shortly after we signed a treaty with NpO and GR. From what I recall hearing, it irked them some, but there was nothing they could do about it then. Our release had been orchestrated by someone in our gov with the agreement to through our power, what little it was, behind NPO. To bad that wasn't told to the rest of the government as they went out and got a treaty with Polar. A couple of guys in Polar had went to bat for us like TPF did. There was never any doubt we would sign a treaty with GR. That was based purely off of friendship and had nothing strategic behind it. It also wasn't because one of our government members like 2 of their government members. We all liked each other as a group. Later on the NoCB war rolled around and LOSS made its greatest mistake ever. We should have fought. Only time I ever considered leaving BOB was after making those votes. Biggest regret was not fighting. We know it and everyone else knows it that we should have fought with GR and Polar. But we didn't. Conflicting fears. Everything had been gravy since finally getting free. We didn't want to go back to that. We have apologized dozens of times to those we really cared about. At some point though it because enough. We were done apologizing and we moved on. We made that bed, we laid in it, we got over it. You can only do it so many times before it's not real anymore. So the rest: Echelon = Jaaku was really the only tie to them. There wasn't much communication outside of him with them. Valhalla = never should have happened. I think we had two guys that were friends with them and the rest of the gov either didn't care or didn't want them. Zenith = Never should have happened. Again it was one or two guys that were friends with them and the rest of gov didn't care. What got this passed was they had Duncan King. That was the only person anyone really knew. MCXA = Other than GR this is probably the alliance that we had the most overall contact with and probably the hardest treaty for me personally to drop. A real friendship started out of the aftermath of the NoCB war. We had some forum issues at that time and these guys offered help. We actually made efforts to get our two govs together and get to know each other. The result became the treaty. That was grand and all, but when we dropped the treaty, the majority of those people we had gotten to know had already left for TSO if I recall correctly. Wasn't many ties there. Except Anakey. Greatest Diplomat I have ever encountered. So, in a recap: During the time leading up to the drop LoSS was ruled by a government order who had one way of thinking. They brought LoSS closer to allies they felt matched their idea's. There was nothing wrong with it as they were the leaders of the time and they shaped things how they saw fit. As the drop came that form of government was being replaced and the leaders of the new order had another way of thinking. Theirs was an older way of thinking, one from LoSS's origins. No one can say LOSS did it because they were trying to be on the winning side. It wasn't a coincidence that the drop coincided with the style of government change. And at the time the new charter was written war was only a whisper on the wind and when the drop actually happened there was no telling what side would come out on top, at least to us. Karma side refused to talk with us and we were receiving very little info from the Hegemony side. LOSS placed themselves with friends where we felt the old way of thinking would lead. (I'll always consider Bob, at the time with Nemesis, a friend for helping us.) And its not so much as we put ourselves there, its just kind of where we fell, as Nemesis and MA were really some of the only two alliances that would take us in during our transition. We tried to do the whole, black only thing, and that is why the treaty with nemesis was signed but not MA. Aboooe: I don't know if the word stole is the right one. Maybe bribed with lots of cookies fits better. Jaaku always finds his way home, where ever that may be. Krunk: Your going to have your own little paragraph in the history if I ever get around to finishing it. You may not like it but at least your in it As for pink. At the time I think we were. Alliance wise Sparta was probably the best thing for them, but political wise it was us that united Pink. I haven't followed the color much since we left, but I think they are more stable now than they were when we were there. They don't have to fight the problems of the alliances being there that are outcasts and exiles like we did. As in its not the dumping ground of beaten alliances anymore. Moe: If I remember right, nothing was ever discussed officially of dropping the treaty. I think there were one or two government members that were irritated with the stress and brought up dropping the treaty. But I don't think that conversation ever manifested into anything more than their angry rumblings. As they were the most irritated by it they were the most vocal so if it got around that's why. They never had a shot to get any votes at all for a drop. I don't even remember who it was that was upset or really why. I know that even when Timeline and his friends came over they begged us not to drop the treaty with TBH because of his conflict with them. But in turn they dropped with us. It probably worked out better for them in the long run. D2M: good to know your still here.
20. We dig HoG as well, we have just known the other guys longer.
21.
What adjectives would you guys use to describe LoSS besides "old and rich in history"? What if any moves are you making to keep LoSS a definitive alliance in the present and future?
At our core we are a close, solid group of friends. Most of us were bonded together during the troubles of GW2 and 3 and the pink era. We have managed to stay close ever since. We have pulled in many others since that time and really have been able to continue that solid foundation of friends and family, training and teaching the new people that have joined. I'm going to say loyal is another one. Our true friends know we have their backs as we know they have ours. As for moves to keep LoSS definitive, I guess as it is with everyone, we are working to broaden and tighten our foreign affairs. We are solid in our own little corner with groups like LOUD, Nemesis, HOG, and IAA and our protectorates Browncoats and KoTC. LoSS's treaties always ended up on a broad scale in the past, but since the charter change we really tried to keep treaties we signed in check and made sure it really was the path for us. We didn't want to let it get out of hand like we did in the Great War era and then again when we were free from GW3 terms. But now that we have established our priorities we feel we can once again broaden our horizons on an FA scale and move out from our hidden corner.
You guys have really been fairly stable for quite a while. I respect that greatly. Stop on by GGA Castle and we'll have some drinks. Two years ago, how did you foresee LOSS as being today? Were your expectations met?
As much change that LOSS went through in 2009, there is no way we could have guessed what would have happened. 2008 was a long time ago. For some people LOSS is exactly where they always wanted it to be. For others, LoSS went into left or right field. Just depends on the person I guess.
People actually don't know who LoSS is? I'm sorry, but if someone who had been involved in politics for over a month honestly told me they weren't familiar with LoSS, I wouldn't be able to take them seriously.
Thanks. We do what we can, as always.
Have you had much contact with TPF, MCXA, Zenith, Valhalla, NPO or Echelon since April 17th of last year? Would you do it again the same way?
I would say we have had little contact with most of those alliances. We have had some contact with some more than others, but not a whole lot. But the same can be said for many other alliances outside our own little corner of friends. In order for things to change, we had to do something. We were short on options and after much debate and taking sides amongst ourselves it became an all or nothing deal. A clean and fresh start. So yes, me personally, I would have done it the exact same.
22. In the LOSS cookie jar. You have seen the pictures.
23. A League of Small Superpowers {LOSS} knowledge dump Alright world, apparently based on the majority of the comments in this thread: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=84620&st=0, not many of you know of us anymore. Either who we are, where we stand or anything else about us. For a 4 year old, top 10 oldest remaining alliance not to be known that must say something. We have always shied away from doing Q&As in the past, but now it seems to be needed. You will be answered officially from our 3 leaders Desert Ratz, Legion-X, and Slade. All 3 are over the 1k day mark and all three have been in and out of government since at least GW3. Legion-X had been in government well before then, but I have to start somewhere and who am I to toot anyone's horn. Those will be your official people, everyone else is just running their mouths So to start: LOSS FORUMS Wiki History (Find a more in depth history....I dare you.) Stats Ask us anything you want. Win lose or draw you will get an answer. We do not shy away from any decision we have ever made because we have made our fair share of good and bad ones. It would be hard not to have made them being as old as we are. Have at it.... *Hopes the baskets of tomatoes are well hidden*
24. LOSS has been my home since my first day of creation. I have gone through up's and down's with them, enough so that people have asked why I don't leave and get a fresh start. We are a family. You don't leave family. You stick it out and rise together. I am proud to say that I have lots of friends that have come out of this alliance. Not everyone has agreed with us, but we have never done much depending on what others think. We are safe in the fact that for every alliance that dislikes us, we have another that stands by us. o/LOSS o/Allies o/All......well maybe not all, but most.....current and former members of LOSS
