But don't stop here! Below, you will find a sprawling and very well-written analysis of Pacifica and its place within the world at large, and I very much hope that you will get past this horribly wordy introduction and onto the meat of the publication. The New Pacific Order has had some fairly decent shakeups in things such as major leadership and departmental shiftings (always thrilling, I know), and this here issue is to help keep the world at large up to date. We also have a secret goal of subliminally tricking everyone into fearing/liking us (or fearking us, as I like to refer to it when trying to save time), but shhh, don't tell anyone. Anyway, I hope you, dear reader, have the same quantity of fun reading these articles as the amount of pain and suffering our writers went through to write them. As an aside, this publication looks much more impressive when viewed against the black background of the NPO forums. Said viewing can be found here. Written by Squintus The Pacific Press - A jackboot on the pulse of world events. Peace looked very unlikely for both sides but then a very surprising event took place. Our dear Emperor, Cortath stepped down as Emperor of the New Pacific Order. This was a shock to some, but not a surprise to others as Cortath was already very busy in RL. Therefore, our long serving Imperial Regent was proclaimed Emperor of the New Pacific Order. Emperor Mary the Fantabulous, the Dragon Emperor is and was the only real choice as no other Pacifican is a dedicated, loyal and as hardworking to the order as our new Emperor, Mary. Mary decided to adopt the title of "Emperor" as it was the title that all her predecessors held before her. Mary then faced the tough challenge of appointing a Regent, once she had narrowed down the candidates there was no competition for who was clearly the best man for the job. Brehon arose to becoming Imperial Regent of The New Pacific Order on the 30th of March, 2011. The New Imperial Leadership gave a great morale boost to all when announced to the alliance, Mary and Brehon are well liked, if not "loved" among the Pacifican ranks and overall everyone was overjoyed to see our new Emperor sit in her throne with her Regent standing tall beside her. There first major task was to decide the next course of action in the crippling war that the NPO and her allies faced. After much debate between the Body Republic and with plenty of speculation, our strong new Emperor stepped in and announced that peace talks were on the table. As always the Pacificans flocked behind our Emperor's decision, supported her decisions and declared themselves happy if our leadership was satisfied. After much talks our new Imperial leadership finally reached an agreement with the opposing coalition, and despite many delays, peace was eventually achieved. Mary and Brehon then without taking time to think about our hard earned peace turned to look at the damage that had been suffered at yet another war. Re-building is on going and its a tough slow process but it is working, we are gaining our membership and our NS back, our tech levels are flying back up and under the leadership of Mary and Brehon we are all sure of a better, brighter future for the New Pacific Order. We thank our past Emperors but for now, Cortath especially for his undying servitude as Emperor until his final day in office. We look forward to a bright full-filling future under Emperor Mary, and Imperial Regent Brehon. o/ the NPO o/ Emperor Mary o/ Brehon Written by Wilhelm von Berlin The Pacific Press - A jackboot on the pulse of world events. After several weeks of discussion, both within the alliance and with our partners, this has resulted in the dissolution of ties with the New Sith Order and Legion. These are some old ties, and the decision to let them go was not taken lightly. The NPO and NSO have long enjoyed a good relationship, owing in many ways to the large contingent of former Pacificans within the Sith. On the 19th of May, 2010, this resulted in the New Pacific Order and the New Sith Order announcing to the world their new treaty, a Mutual Defense Pact. Both sides were thrilled at the time by this announcement and many were sure of a great partnership for years to come for the very foreseeable future. However, in the post-war environment, both sides discovered that whilst the bonds of friendship between the two orders were very strong, and whilst both governments co-operated well, there was little strategic value within the pact. With many alliances not on good terms with the Pacific or the Sith, it hindered opportunities for both alliances, resulting in a mutual decision that their collective best interests would be served by making the treaty null and void and deciding they could very well remain friends without any need for pieces of paper. The relationship between the Legion and NPO has gone through many stages, with both alliances being amongst the founding fathers of CN politics. The latest era of friendship between the two started largely as a result of the reconstruction of Legion during its Viceroy period, with the bond surviving the hardship of Karma and the Order's 10 month sentence before a treaty was signed in 2010. However, the Legion and the NPO eventually came to reconsider the strength of that relationship, and where it would lead each alliance. With the latest war highlighting some mutual communication issues, the decision was eventually made to let the treaty go. The viewpoint that treaties are supposed to reflect both a strong bond and a strategic need between two equal partners is one that is often praised, but seldom followed through in the wider political world, with treaties being often valued in the context of a statistics race, and being signed merely on the basis of "getting along". It is this practice that is largely responsible for the interconnected mess of the greater MDP web, and the Order is proud in being able to do at least a small part in keeping things tidier. Whilst a four-dimensional representation is still needed to visually represent the web in a readily understandable form, it is our hope that at least in our immediate surroundings, things will be simpler and more accurately reflect the needs of each alliance involved. Pacifica Rebuilds Experiencing a 4-month long beatdown for the second time in as many years is not something most alliances would find easy to recover from. However, the Order is unlike most alliances, and has always focused itself on having the mental and economic capacity to quickly get back on its feet in the aftermath of any conflict. A large part of that is owed to the resilience of the Pacifican fighter. Wars, particularly prolonged and one-sided ones, place immense stress on the membership of an alliance, and the Pacific is proud to have a strong fighting core that does not desert during war. Whilst this does little to diminish the damage from such wars, it enhances post-war growth and the long-term prospects of an alliance that retains a core of experienced and battle-hardened nations. In few places can this be seen more strikingly than in terms of Wonders, an area where the Pacific saw rapid growth prior to the war. The NPO begun the war with 113 WRC's, and ended it with 105; a remarkable retention of core nations that outmatched what even alliances on the winning side experienced. And whilst the first weeks after the war saw a number of resignations and deletions by nations that had waited until the end of the war to complete the duty, the Pacific has managed to retain its position as the absolute world leader in military wonders. The war and post-war period did have their effect however, whilst other close competitors such as MK and Polar have slipped down the ranks, XX alliances have increased their relative standing. Fark in particular has experienced a period of very good growth, edging past the Pacific in WRC's and nipping at its heels in other areas. But NPO has not merely been content with the resilience of its members, and has made immense efforts to regain its economic momentum. With the advantage of having a set date upon which the war would end, the Order's excellent economic system was able to tackle the immense logistical task of organizing a combined alliance-wide backcollect and aid-chain, pouring 750 million francos across 130 nations. Nicknamed as the “perpetual money machine”, each nation was able to recoup their initial investment through their backcollect before passing it on to the next person in the chain, multiplying the money until, by the end, the Order was closing in on having moved 2 billion within a week. This had an immediate impact on the Order's growth and has allowed it to rebuild far faster than any other alliance in the conflict. Within the first week after the war, the NPO had jumped by 1.65m NS, and by almost 3m NS and 9.6 score within 40 days, doubling its infrastructure and increasing avg NS by 80%. With warchests slowly inching back up, the NPO hopes to be returning to full-time economic activity soon, further accelerating its growth and return to the upper reaches of the sanction race. These 5 alliances have worked together to create a stronger, better Red Sphere, to create a mutual understanding of each others culture, customs and membership. Each other these alliances have worked tirelessly to forge a strong and powerful bond of friendship which now exists. There are many benefits to this treaty, the first being that we all know each other very well which is a good practice to follow when you have so many neighbors on the team. The greatest benefit though is the economic part of our treaty, this helps all of our alliances, so all the people of the Sphere benefit, Tech Deals are organized by all sides at different rates. The NPO itself gives 3/50 to ALL people who come to us for tech deals, which is made available to our Red Dawn partners. This also gives the chance to form some good friendships. As Invicta's Minister of Finance said to me "speaking for Invicta alone, yes, it has forged some. Remember, though, that when we entered Red Dawn, we already had a fairly strong bond with NPO and NAC. CoJ (and, at the time, TMF) were the only ones we didn't know, so we already had a bit head start. I can't really speak about bonds between other alliances though. I'm sure that they have formed". So this is a sign that the Red Dawn is a developing bloc and hopefully in the future will be one of the major Economic blocs in Planet Bob. All we can do is work hard, and play hard and hope that one day it comes true. I would like to thank, Shotgun Willy for his time to help me with answering a few questions. o/ members of the Red Dawn! A new portrait of Emperor Mary the Fantabulous was hung at before the immigration hall. I quickly strode through arrival checks and passed by the city tours. I wasn't here for Francograd, but for our renowned tropical sites for some rest and relaxation. A short bus trip led me to the Karpathos docks, where the SS Cortath awaited a thousand vacationers. As a corespondent from PNN I was reserved a business class cabin, with a full view of the Francograd river scene. Construction cranes filled the skyline as our infrastructure rebuilding plans go ahead. As the liner departed, a container ship with TIO tech came passed by. The cheery captain waved at us, bristling at the $3million/50 tech rates offered. The sea came, with glowing pink dolphins greeting those on the deck. In a few days we arrive at our destination- a tropical town dated from Moo's reign, accompanied with a beautiful beach. It is a popular destination for our Red Dawn comrades. The blocky but elaborate architecture of the place can be attributed to our local minecrafter's guild. Departing from the docks, some Praetorian Guardsmen checked my passport, ever vigilant of possible pirates and hoodlums. A military jeep-turned van carried us to a nearby resort. Many Pacificans of all departments and of the BR could be seen, knowing that their homes would be safe with our Sitter Guard. There were some foreign ambassadors, escorted by our fine diplomats into the casino and our *ahem* 'massage' parlors. Outside, innocent children were playing in the sun as a group of battalion officers chatted under the shade of trees. I joined them and was handed a menu for drinks. Baby Cocktail Delight was in the season, so I treated the officers to a glass. Unfortunately, the sea was officially closed due to radiation. Close to a dozen technicians with hazmat suits were working on the blue-green waters. The evening came and it was time for a safari trip. The safari jeep had Bootleg Radio on, and us sightseers could hear the ebullient rantings of our beloved Regent Brehon. A lot of interesting, mutated wild animals came up. A three-headed giraffe and elephants resembling those from Lord of the Rings were the favorite sights. Each attraction was accompanied with a concise description from our Wiki Division personnel, who work day and night to enlighten us. A professional photographer takes pictures for free and quickly uploads them to our Photobooth gallery. The nights are dedicated to a traditional BBQ on the beach. Baby meat of all nationalities and sizes were available. A drunk Rogal Dorn appeared and pranced around the sand. The day ended with a massive [s]orgy[/s] dance around the fire. Foreign diplomats joined in with their escorts. The tropics are indeed an amazing spectacle here in Pacifica. Come spend your summer vacation in our pleasant resorts! The show is generally broken down into roughly hour long segments with the first hour taken over by general chat about the current going-ons of the citizens of planet Bob, followed by an hour each spent chatting to the guests, with the final hour saved for close out and random chatter. So far the show has featured guests from NPO allies such as TIO and people from the other side of the treaty web such as VE. goldielax25 from VE said 'it was a lot of fun' with some guests even demanding the opportunity for repeat appearances you can be sure an appearance will be enjoyable (even if it is just a chance to claim you appeared on a radio show and are now 'famous' , something your reporter has been known to attempt). Bootleg is always looking for more guests so feel free to contact Brehon over at the NPO forums (or on IRC) if your interested. We won't claim that Bootleg is without biases but we will claim that if you tune in you are almost guaranteed a good time (guarantee is made solely by Uncle B and all complaints of having a bad time can be directed to him via a PM on the NPO forums). If you're interested in listening to past shows or finding out more about Bootleg radio feel free to head over to the website www.bootlegradiostation.com to find the past shows (Brehon has promised to upload them all to the site and install an online player, but in the meantime the shows can be downloaded and played with Winamp which can be obtained for free). The article was about our flag, that rockin' blue and black flag you see up top first here. In that article, I wrote about the flag's history in CyberNations, and what it symbolises. To those who have forgotten, and to those who simply are not aware, I will repeat it here for contextual sake:
The symbolism of the flag of the Order is a profound one. The deep blue hues on the flag represent the Pacific, eternal and dominating. The black represents the jackboots of the soldiers of the Order, forever crushing our enemies' throats. Eight triangles, to represent the number of infinity. Lastly, the golden star of Francos Spain, the five points representing the five days between the August Revolution on August 28th, 2003 and the founding of the New Pacific Order, on September 1st, 2003. The very first banners of Franco used to display the star outlined in red, to commemorate the blood spilled from our fallen comrades during the Revolution.
In the two years since the two year anniversary, an alternative flag has made it's way around the barracks and bases of the Order - the Crimson Standard, that gloriously red flag you see up there. The symbols represented in that flag are just as profound: Red, for the blood always spilled in defense of our values and comrades. Black, for those darkest nights before the dawn when Pacifica prevailed in the end. Eight triangles, to represent the number of infinity and of prosperity. Lastly and always, the golden star of Francos Spain, the five points representing the five days between the August Revolution on August 28th, 2003 and the founding of the New Pacific Order, on September 1st, 2003. Now the banners of Pacifica will always commemorate the blood spilled from our fallen comrades. As the Order lives and breathes, so does the spirit of Peace, Strength, and Prosperity. Hail the New Pacific Order! Note: The pictures are thumbnails because some of the originals are massive in size. I could come out and say "no animals were harmed in the creating of this issue of PNN International" but that wouldn't be true. I could potentially state that there this issue will not cause cancer, but we're still waiting to hear back from the lab on that one. So, in summary, a coordinator is one who coordinates. The choice of name for the new bloc is interesting. According to mythology, Pandora's box was used to explain the source of evil in the world . In the myth, the box was opened and all the evil escaped. After their release, the box was quickly shut by the frightened Pandora trapping hope inside. If this new bloc is an accurate representation of the myth, are these six alliances the source of evil on our fair planet? Furthermore, what hope is still trapped in that box to save us from this evil? ....Only time will tell. Reactions to the creation of the bloc were mixed. Some praised those involved in its creation, while others were quick to shout their ill remarks. Some even questioned what brought these six alliances together to create Pandora's Box as they do not seem to have anything in common. Pandora's Box has hit the world stage (read: one of the worst kept secrets in Planet Bob) and the actions of the bloc will be watched closely. Will the unity of these alliance change the political landscape and warp the foreign affairs of big and small alliances alike? The alliances of Pandora's Box....the spot light is on you. The friend in this case being the New Sith Order. On August 8, the NSO after aiding a member who was raiding a member of the TENE, had war declared on it by Ragnarok, Viridian Entente, R&R, and GOD. This conflict, known as the Six Million Dollar War saw the NSO going down to a bitter defeat. According to sources, the NSO lost over half their NS. However, they paid out damage in kind. To the credit of the NSO, they refused to bring their allies into the war, and prevented a global escalation. They weathered the storm almost alone. However as Sith lands were razed, homes and business ruthlessly destroyed, and brave NSO soldiers died on the battle field, Pacifica made her promise, as She knew too the bitter scourge of war. Lady Pacifica reached out and promised our brothers and sisters in the NSO that she would help them rebuild. She was willing to shed Her blood and sweat to help restore her allies to their former position. On August 24, when the NSO surrendered to their enemies and admitted fault in starting the war, our Comrades at the Pacific Bank swung into action and announced Project DeathStar, a massive undertaking designed to rebuild the NSO bigger and badder next to a small moon of Endor. Pacifica has sent almost 700 million in aid funds to their allies in the NSO. Written by galw708 The Pacific Press - A jackboot on the pulse of world events. When our fungus friends finally sat down to figure out what this meant it was clear that the only result of this discovery was to cut all paper ties with the outside world for fear that the madness would spread to their allies. King Archon made a state speech a few days ago laying out their plans to raise the drawbridge and reassess the direction of the Mushroom Kingdom. This announcement was prompted by the leaks that had happened earlier regarding the Complaints and Grievances bloc. There are several members from the CnG bloc that have expressed disbelief and shock at the Kingdom's move to leave, while others have sworn to protect them even if there is no paper involved. All those alliances swearing to stand by MK in light of their recent actions has prompted critics to ask what the motive that is behind them staying. Are they hoping that by staying they will be invited back into the MK Co-Prosperity Sphere? Or are they actually standing by their friends? Now everyone is asking themselves what happens from here. Will CnG fall apart and who will those shrooms entrust the secret of the Princess with in the future. You never know you may see a future piece of paper with the words "The Sectumsempra Treaty". For a period of one day of dedication, the New Pacific Order celebrated the life and contributions of founder Francos Spain. In order to properly recognize the day, Media officials fearlessly ordered several underlings to dig through the old Pacific Press archives back to September 13, 2004, and see what sort of un-researched and ill-informed articles we were printing way back then. Their result of our query was as follows: A readable version is available through the magical wonders of clicking the image Media Lorekeeper Vengashii has the following description of the holiday in his records, but I caught him drinking gasoline mixed with Smirnoff Ice last week, so he's probably as extremely dumb as always. Anyways: "The Day of Dedication commemorates the day that Francos Spain fell defending the Order during the !@#$%* Great Patriotic War (2004). His sacrifice allowed Pacifica to be victorious days later and ushered in the Era of the People's Republic. We remember Franco, and those who carried on to fulfill his dream." Additionally, on September 29, 2010, Pacifican citizens turned out for mandatory enjoyment of our Day of Dominance. It is this day, in particular - though we celebrate it on a slightly lesser level every single moment of every single day ever - that is set aside for recognizing how Pacifica has been a focal point of the Planet for more than four years and continues to serve as a model for the rest of the world. Our very own possibly-perpetually-drunk Vengashii had this description of the day; "the day's celebrations center around activities worthy of the current Emperor. Under the reign of Dilber, clubbing, booze and sax contests were popular. Under Ivan, public executions and formal ball room dancing was practiced. Under TrotskysRevenge, American Football, milkshakes, and BBQ is how the populace honored the anthropomorphic Divine Bovine Overlord. Under the current Emperor Blackbird, chuckling, bird watching, and contemplating the written works of Francoism are highly encouraged. (As well as tea drinking)" And so we celebrated our day with thoughtfully and methodically sipping tea whilst keeping pinky fingers a safe distance away from the mug containing the aforementioned tea. This action was carried out whilst also discussing Francoism, Vladimir, and the basic pros and cons of the economic ramifications of applied socialism. And we kept an eye out for any birds that might have flown by. But the important things were the tea-drinkings and the socio-economic-discussings. FARK, together with the Atlantic Shadow Confederation and the Random Insanity Alliance, originally founded the Superfriends bloc on September 7, 2007. The bloc would later expand its ranks to include the Global Order of Darkness, Ragnarok, R&R, Monos Archein, and the Commonwealth of Sovereign Nations. It is unfortunate to see one of the original founders to decide to leave the bloc. With this in mind we at the New Pacific Order wish to extend a helping hand by joining forces with our friends to save this planet from certain destruction. We are ready to stand shield to shield with you, our new friends. In addition to having our shield all drawn up, we have also taken the liberty of picking out our official Super Friends Character, the Red Tornado. The Red Tornado and the New Pacific Order have many things in common. The first being that we enjoy the color red. Next, we both share superhuman strength and the uncanny ability to survive any attack. Finally, the Red Tornado often felt on the outside and not considered a full member of the team, we expect those same feelings with the SuperFriends crew. The match is perfect! Overall, roughly 100 people turned out and the punch was spiked only twice. Pacficia's own Bootleg Radio Team was on-hand to provide both music and interesting banter for people to enjoy. As any radio-listening person knows, banter is an important part of entertaining. It's how people confirm what they always suspected: people who play CN have headsets of inferior quality and funny-sounding voices. Just a fact of life. It doesn't help when someone like Moo-Cows gets up there and just moos everything, drowning out other contributors such as Bakamitai, Chron, Red, Crymson, Emperor Marx, WickedJ, Van Hoo II, Emperor Blackbird himself and anyone else who stumbled into that band of misfits. "We tried to get Londo," said Moo-Cows through an interpreter, "but he said he was too busy... his own channel called him a liar." Moo managed to attend and he's usually busy grazing - What's Londo's excuse??? The ball itself went swimmingly with 100% of those surveyed (0 of 0) stating their enjoyment. Many complimented the fine color scheme of the room, the meat and cheese spread (both helpfully provided by Moo Cows Catering Services), and the super-sharp attire of the ladies in attendance. Famtastic.co.uk had further commentary:
Wonder clothes-horse that she is, Lady Red rocked both colour and shape. I would perhaps have scaled down the neck bow (a strange element given compared to the sleekness of the rest of the gown) but aside from that, the dress is awesome. The fabric looks heavily - heavy yet like liquid - and the train adds a bit of drama - as does the fact it’s such a bold scarlet. The colour could overwhelm pale-Nicole but it doesn’t - it makes her look sexy and alive (especially compared to last Ball’s washed-out white). Letum also picked a great colour - and again, fabric to die for. I love the structuring around the neckline and the halterneck strap stops it being one of those dresses that endlessly creeps down or looks like his breasts start at his navel. Having the skirt/train start from the top of the bodice is unusual - and I’m not in love with it - but it does hide his fat gut. It was jgolla’s moment last night though. He picked a gown with a great shape to the bodice. The neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves and wrap-around-the-belly were all flattering, glamorous and sexy. I’m not quite as enamoured with the skirt - particularly the hemline - but it suits him because it’s not too formal or grand, and that seems to be very much the type of image he projects. At least, when he isn't huggling everyone within arm's reach.
Jasmine and Crymson take center stage for "The Time Warp" In summary, the event was a raging success and we here at the Pacific News Network are greatly looking forward to future Council products. Our original goal was to keep internal activity high with the various reportings, while also keeping Pacifica involved with the world community. Now that we're out of terms, we no longer have to actively pursue that second goal. So we're declaring war on all rival international printing publications. Maybe it's not the sanest goal in the world, but Brennan is off finding a new home after I burnt the last one down following a late night Media poker game which he absolutely totally cheated in, so the inmates are running the asylum now. Noble Words: Treaties of the NPO As many are no doubt aware, after our defeat in the Karma War the NPO was forbidden by the Karma Alliance to hold any treaties of a military nature. Indeed, during the duration of our terms we were placed under the protection of the Karma Alliance. However, when our terms ended we were cast into the world alone. No matter how powerful and awe inspiring an alliance maybe, it cannot stand by itself. In order to succeed and prosper, especially in this brave new world, friendships are both needed and required. As our terms neared their end, the Diplomatic Corps of the NPO sought out old and new friends that we could work with to ensure our mutual prosperity, success and security. These noble ideals were hammered into words and those words were written down, forming the core of a new series of treaties that these parties were more than happy to affix their signatures to. It is with pride that Pacifica and Friends announced the following treaties to the world on May 20, 2010: Red Dawn: Free Trade Agreement between Cult of Justitia, NPO and The Moralist Front Ordinance of Chaos: Mutual Defense Pact with the New Sith Order Red-Fire Pact: Mutual Defense and Aggression Pact with The Phoenix Federation Northwest Passage: Mutual Defense Pact with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Mai luv it asploded: Mutual Defense Optional Aggression Pact with the Regnum Invictorum Scrabble Accords: Mutual Defense Optional Aggression Pact with Olympus Treaty of the Purple Star: Mutual Defense Pact with The Legion We at Pacifica look forward to a long, prosperous and successful future with our new and old friends alike. The New Pacific Order had entered the Armageddon War some ten months prior; in what was one of the longest wars ever in Cybernations to follow, the Order fell from its height of power, declining gradually against the innumerable enemy, right to the point where war could be conducted no more. Shackled in terms, the so called ‘forces of justice’ (i.e. Karma) turned their backs onto what they hoped to be the end of a nightmare. The end of a nightmare, perhaps; yet, the birth of a beautiful dream. As the supporters of the Order cheered on the Emperor, reveling in the true victory, the dream was made through the words of the Emperor:
It shall be an age of power and an age of mercy. It shall be of justice and of integrity. It shall be of diplomacy and of openness.
As it was said, so it shall be done. The Order, since exiting terms, has already signed several MDP treaties with many alliances, showing its commitment to the words spoken above and not “tyrannically oppressing the world again”. A new era for the Order has begun in a world that is vastly different. The future is always unclear but for Pacificans and their friends their will always be the comfort of the Order's dedication to Peace, Strength and Prosperity. Pacifica looks forward to moving ever forward in this new landscape. It contained humorous quips, political intrigue and left readers wanting more; more Sir Paul that is. In a rare show of support for Pacifica, it was seen that the majority of Planet Bob simply adore PNN International and while One Fine Publication had its merits, it left readers unsatisfied which is definitely something the Pacific News Network never does. We at Pacifica do encourage ODN to continue to publish One Fine Publication as it currently works great as an appetizer for the main course. With a little elbow grease and hard work, OFP may one day be the potatoes to PNN's meat, the Sunny to PNN's Cher. Despite the slow start to international journalism, with the release of this second edition, the cards all seem to be lining up for ODN. For a long time The Orange Defense Network had been slammed with the moniker "Optional Defense Network" leading to many a derailed topics and a general malaise surrounding the alliance. The world became weary of signing a treaty with them after a history of canceling on the eve of war, most recently with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization whom they promptly attacked shortly thereafter. This all changed with a government changing of the guard along with attaining a long rumored membership in the Complaints and Grievances Union headed by Sovereign Archon. Membership in C&G could not have come at a better time nor could it have yielded better results. The Orange Defense Network has since been given the ability to engage in debate on the world forums, hold a 20% stake in Smug Inc. and most importantly equipped a toadstool pendant enabling a +5 bonus to defending allies. It is a new age on Planet Bob, one where everyone and anyone can step up and speak their minds. It is an age we all hold dear in our hearts and minds; an age where any alliance can shed it's former bruised peel and paint on a bright new one. The Orange Defense Network has accomplished just this. A new bloc, new respect and now a 2nd international edition to One Fine Publication; I think I speak for the world when I say, congratulations ODN, you're big league now! After all, many still remember the bitterness and zealotry shared by the belligerents during Karma War last year, and rumours speak of vengeful retaliation the New Pacific Order might unleash upon its nemesis. However, as Pacificans walk free out of shackled imprisonment, it appears that Cyberverse can be assured that the aeon of Peace, Strength, and Prosperity has indeed returned. Analysts quickly discuss why the return of this beaten, yet ambitious, alliance is not as calamitious as many feared. The answer apparently points to the now reformed and reorganized Diplomatic Corps of the New Pacific Order. With new leadership trained for post-Karma War interalliance politics, Emperor Cortath stressed his vision of a better, more efficient way to communicate with friends and foes of the Order. The Diplomatic Corps would now spearhead the re-introduction of Pacifican might into the opening arms of the Cyberverse. One critic who writes for The Pacific Press goes as far as stating, no matter what you have known or heard of the seemingly hawkish NPO, do forget it now, for the new era has come – paved by the NPO Diplomatic Corps. Dubbed “eyes, ears, and mouth of the Emperor”, these oversea agents of Diplomatic Corps (known as Imperial Ambassadors) are tasked with establishing diplomatic relationship with alliances deemed prominent by His Imperial judgment. They are to provide adequate communication bridging between the two alliances, enabling countless diplomatic missions to be processed: negotiations, bargaining, treaty installment or modification, news exchange, or – if absolutely necessary – declaration of war with appropriate wartime corresponding. In short, the Diplomatic Corps is here to ensure that no political mishap witnessed by Cyberverse last year would repeat itself ever again. Trust in the newly reborn glory of the New Pacific Order Diplomatic Corps. Give the NPO Ambassadors in your alliance some warm welcome. Let us bury memory of bygone dissent expressed toward NPO’s so-called hawkish itch for war and conflicts, and start anew the majestic age of Peace, Strength, and Prosperity. Written by Thomas Richmond The Pacific Press - A jackboot on the pulse of world events A proud part of PNN Update on IRON The most recent war of many names, known by some as the Second Unjust War, and to others as the Bi-Polar war, has now largely come to a close. The war which began on the 20th of January 2010 with the Polaris declaration on \m/, and which reached its climax with the pre-emptive strike on CnG by a coalition of Alliances led by TOP and IRON has seen the subsequent entrance and withdrawal of more than a hundred alliances. Now only one theater remains, one which has been kept open, only by the confidence of a side with superior numbers, and by sheer force of will on the part of another. In this last trace of the conflict there is on one side the alliances IRON and DAWN, and on the other the Grämlins. As a general report on the progress of this war, after a short period of directly induced decline on the part of the Grämlins, growth on their part has slipped into a slower but none the less negative trend. Over the last few months the Grämlins have moved from an alliance of over 60 members to one with 29. Average Strength has slipped from over 85k to a low of 58k, and total strength is at a low of 1,695,187. In the case of IRON the trend has not been decline, but growth. Over the last month IRON has gained nearly 1,000,000 NS. Sources within IRON have reported generally positive morale, confident that the worst of the war is indeed over. Right now within the community the push is for growth, and the war itself has been relegated by some to an afterthought. Interested in gleaning insight into the motives of the Grämlins the PNN attempted to extract an interview from Ramirus a prominent member of the Grämlin Conclave. The Following response was given.
Send the questions. Keep in mind, however, that I don't like Argent or NPO and have absolutely no use for the OWF or PR of any kind so I'm unlikely to cooperate in any way.
Though the questions were sent, no response was received. Outside of the three, the spotlight of the OWF seems to be focused on the Grämlins with sharp international criticism coming from many sides. We spoke to former member of the Grämlin Conclave, and current member of VE, Bob Janova, for his insight in this matter.
<iamthey> Well I want to thank you for talking us today, with that we can get started. You've been quite vocal about your own feelings with respect to the new direction of the Grämlins, as someone who has paid close attention to this issue what would you say the overall impact of this war has been on their public image? <BobJanova> Disastrous. <iamthey> In what respect? <BobJanova> Before this phase of the war, IRON was among the most hated alliances, but since the ESA you see members of Supergrievances publically posting pro-IRON/anti-Grämlins opinions. <BobJanova> It's shown that they're outside the normal political system of CN, unreliable and unpredictable. <iamthey> Alright do you think their position has spoiled their relationship with those who may have been traditionally sympathetic to them? <BobJanova> Yes, certainly. You can see members of MHA and MK among those I mentioned earlier. <iamthey> Indeed. <BobJanova> Those are about the only alliances who maintained real links after the paperless decision, I think; perhaps Umbrella too but I don't see them supporting Grämlins now. <iamthey> What do you think the future holds for gre, do you think they can repair what damage they have done? <BobJanova> I don't think they really have a future. What drew people to apply to Grämlins was its high moral standing, community and strength. And even if they see sense right now, they've lost all three of those, it's a tainted name. <iamthey> A fair point.Being a former leader of Grämlins yourself, what would you say they are after? What is the purpose of this war? If they can't acheive a material victory, is it about something else? <BobJanova> I have absolutely no idea <iamthey> Heh. <BobJanova> It seems to be a misplaced moral stand, but I can't understand the 'morals' that would lead to such a position, so I can't extrapolate to the motivations and goals of the stand. <iamthey> Alright well thank you once more.
In short, IRON is on the road to recovery, while the Grämlins seem to be in for further decline. As public opposition seems to be growing for the Grämlins so does good will for IRON, or at least sympathy, seem to be growing. The reality of our world is a reflection of ourselves, and the values we effect, for now it seems this understanding holds true, but what the future holds only time will tell.
