  1. Welcome to "Planet Bob" (that's what we call this place by the way). My only suggestions to you are stay involved politically and/or in your alliance. That's where most of the fun in this game comes from (not just pushing buttons on the same screen day in and day out).

As a player of over 3 years, I can say this game is addicting and you should GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!- errr... I mean... Enjoy yourself as much as possible, make friends, but In-character have as much fun hating on people and "trolling" as you want, because in reality, this game is all about fun.

  2. In the case of the guy I recruited, he was more like a foot soldier than a tech farm :P (Besides, I was still tech-selling size myself). He actually joined hoping it would be more like SuperPower 2.

Also, the guy who got me into CN via his music website (he's in WF) is kinda lazy when it comes to nation-building. I've only had this current nation since 27 July of last year, he's had his since Christmas of '06, and I'm bigger than he is :P

    http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_d...Nation_ID=84729

If he tried to get me to be his tech farm, I'd be more like, "get lost, Bovril Boy!" (inside joke, long boring story that no one wants to hear ;))

That nation is just barely smaller than mine and I've been here since... August of '06. Size means nothing!

  3. I got my girlfriend to start a nation almost a year and a half ago...she likes buying things so I figured buying infrastructure and being my tech farm would keep her happy.

Now she's all like "i want improvements and wonders", she also likes changing her nation bio a lot. I've created a monster.

I hate how that happens... You expect someone to join the game and be a good little tech farm, and then they go all DEVELOPED COUNTRY on you. Shame on them.

  4. I have posted links to several places and plan on sending links out every so often. I know that at least one of my friends plays this game (Atoms from Mr. Nation), whom I recruited about 3 years ago and is currently chillin' with me in my alliance (yay friends).

I doubt I'll get too many people to join, but I figure I like this game well enough and I should be proud of that fact.

  5. I joined at the start of June, 2009. Don't know exactly where that puts me. I had a nation a long time back, maybe early 2008. I'd be interested to know what was going on around CN at that time, but I wasn't really into the game back then. I got bored one day and logged on and decided to join GATO and I'm kind of addicted now :(

June 2009 was in the Karma War, whereas Early 2008 was right in the middle of the Unjust War (Sept. 2007) and the War of the Coalition/NoCB war/Etc (August-September 2008).

  6. Listen, Asriel, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but I don't need the spark notes version of everything Mechanus just said.

That being said, you'll note that I'm trying very hard not to live up to my name as Captain of the Troll Patrol now that I've stepped into a Leadership role, and your concerns are noted.

For bringing it to my attention, I'll have to remember to include you in my Christmas card list.

    Good day to you, sir.

I wasn't give you the spark notes version, I was just adding something I felt he didn't quite emphasize enough.

Anyway, it's been noted by me and a few others, but not many other people that you have toned it down a bit.

  7. I should declare on you!! No one has the right to dispute the eating of bacon. In GATO members are forced to eat bacon.

I despise you now! I am officially cutting off all GATO-BC relations and putting a ban on trading with any and all GATO members for their blatant support of TYRANNY!

God I am so glad everyone is here to stand up for NNK and protect them from the horrible Baconeers. Well congrats Bob you have just gotten ticked off at a joke that both NNK and BACoN agreed too.

OOC: >_> I hope you are kidding.

    Agreed to?

This war is unjust invasion of our choice as Alliance for me to choose for Alliance!

Exactly! Everyone should be allowed to choose to be in an alliance that bans bacon!

OK OK OK. Yes, is it is true; Bacon may not be the most healthy of meats. But is your government so fascist that it will make dietary choices for its people!?

OOC: Heh, excellent post! im glad some people want to play along and have fun.

All of our people have agreed to the ban in light of the tyranny that has gone on inside Bacon nations, however, when the government feels a certain product is dangerous to her other new-found friends, yes, we will make those decisions. We are just that evil!

OOC: Thanks, I really do enjoy doing those RPs, as seldom as I do them, and I'm glad at least one other person enjoyed it. :P

  8. That's their problem and not mine. I don't need to make excuses or apologize to anyone except Veneke, who is my captain.
You're right. It isn't your problem. It's your leader's problem, because he'll be the one going to the fire for you due to your inability to understand that your words and actions, that of a government member, carry consequences for your alliance. But it appears that you haven't learned that from your previous Lieutenant's mistake. You can think whatever you are inclined to believe, but here on the OWF the government of an alliance is responsible for their words and actions. Veneke is well versed in this. Maybe instead of acting the fool you could speak with him about what happens when the Court of Public Opinion grabs hold of what a government official states publicly and goes to town with it.

I'm going to agree with Mechanus on this one mate. The Court of Public Opinion is merciless and has "forced" alliances to disband (in quotations because technically they choose to disband, nobody can really force them, FAN is a testament to that fact). I try not to jab people, however, most people who frequent the OWF are not so generous.

What you say on the OWF has an effect on what people think about your alliance. Just saying.

  9. BrowncoatsDispatch.png

From the Office of Prime Minister

Asriel slowly walks up to the podium, his grey hair moving gently in the breeze. As he reaches the podium he sets aside his cane, pulling a small silver flask out of his dusty old Brown duster and takes a drink out of it. Looking closer at the Brown duster reveals that it has many medals awards and recognitions on it from different alliances and different positions. He then clears his throat and begins to speak in a raspy voice befitting that of an extremely old man:

Citizens of planet Bob! I come before you as a leader of a small alliance, but also as a leader against Vietham!

Many boos, hisses, and cheers erupt from the audience

This war is unjust! The people have the right to choose to eat what they wish. If the leaders of a country, or alliance, have found a certain product to be unhealthy, it is in their right to ban it. No where do you have the right to interfere with their politics.

Remember when invading a country you PIGS, that whatever you break, you must fix! The fault lies on you then to make sure that the alliance and country you are destroying is returned to it's former, or a greater state than before.

Asriel takes a large breath and a swig from his flask

To make an already long speech shorter, I will get right down to the point:

First off: Rum for everyone who cheers the next item on the list. They better be heart-felt cheers. Yes, this is bribery.

Secondly: I, as Prime Minister of the Browncoats, hereby enact a trade embargo against all alliances importing bacon into our nations. Pigs are fine, pork is fine, however bacon of any kind is not.

If BaCoN has a problem with our declaration, they can take it up with the General Assembly of people, or with my nukes that I have hidden in my silos!

Asriel takes another small break and drinks out of his flask before continuing.

This is by no means an aggressive act against BaCoN, and we, Browncoats have no intent to participate in active war with BaCoN, however, we wish to show our great displeasure at the way the BaCoNians have behaved the last week and have thus chosen to remain firm and ban all Bacon from our lands.

    That is all.

OOC: This is a joke post, anyone who takes it seriously should be shot, hanged, drawn and quartered, and then burned. That is also a joke, but I guess you get the point now. Also, I actually love bacon, I just wanted to stir the pot a little. :P

  10. As for it being right or wrong, that's their opinion, and yours as well it seems, based on OWF posts that are childish, rude, etc. Yeah, what I do on the OWF does not reflect on my skill as a member of the Government, considering that the military is the aspect of it that falls under my command. FA does not, for obvious reasons.

A military leader is still a leader. People don't care much whether or not you're in FA or Military, they care whether or not 1: you're in gov, 2: how high you are in govt, and last and least: Which alliance you're in.

People will still remember that a member of 57th said the things you have said, they won't think about you being a military leader or FA leader, they will think of you simply as "a leader."

Trying to give you advice mate, I suggest you take it and run with it and go for the touchdown before you fumble the ball.

    As for Veneke's post:

Any Brown alliance (with exception to the reformed Browncoats, who are too new to the sphere to be aware of this) can confirm this.

Mate, I think that you forget that a majority of the people in Browncoats currently (not under the AA, but official members that are counted on our forums, since a few of those under our aa are totally inactive), have been in this world as leaders longer than you yourself have. So before you go around saying we don't know a thing about what's going on, you might want to remember who is placed where in the historical timeline.

Our new members learn a bit of history mate, and I can assure you that they are more than well-versed in the history of the Brown sphere going back quite a while.

  11. If this is the case, I don't think wars should end when alliances declare themselves defunct. After all, they're not dead, just waiting.

If I recall correctly... NPO already did this with EVERY SINGLE ALLIANCE THAT DISBANDED WHILE AT WAR WITH THEM.

I'm just saying... You can't "start" something that was already done years ago.

  12. Even the Browncoats use their Reformation date.

For historical purposes we use the old founding date (such as, well, we originally founded *here* then disbanded, the reformed on the two-year anniversary of the original founding on *this date here*).

I get that VE spirit was alive and they weren't gone for very long, however, NAAC's spirit is still very much alive. Would it be fair to say that if the NAAC reformed now, after being "dead" for 2 years, that it would still be the same alliance? Not in the least. The same people would flock there as were there originally, the same attitude even, same flag, possibly even the same forums (doubt that, just using it for the sake of the argument), but it would not be the same alliance because of that small time when it was gone and everyone learned things and did things outside of the NAAC that made them smarter/dumber/wiser/more foolish/whatever.

Browncoats even changed. We have the original founder with us, and a few of the first members, but is it the same? No. Even though we weren't gone for 2 years like the NAAC, we still learned things while away from that alliance and came back with a different attitude. So too did VE.

It's fine to have both dates for historical purposes, but you cannot say that you are the same exact alliance.

  13. NPpO and NAAC was the greatest rivalry the game has ever/will ever see.

Going to specify this a bit, but in general, yes.

How can any of you say anything besides NPO/NAAC?

They are retarded. That's not an attack, it's a true mental condition. Deal with it. :P

    You didn't win that ...

    >_> Don't remember why I quoted this. Oh well...

NpO militarily defeated NAAC, but NAAC's leader took over the NpO. Who beat who?

Yeah, that was the best rivalry.

Our beef with TSO isn't a rivalry, that is hatred.

    That's a good question. :P

I have to agree with this one. And to this day, NAAC is winning. They've infiltrated our government at the highest levels.

I'd say it's a tie. NAAC's leader is loyal to NPO, NAAC is dead, however NAACers are still around, in relatively good number, and in many influential spots. Tie it is!

    On the NAAC/NPpO rivalry:

Yes, it is a rivalry, NAAC and NPpO both wanted control of the blue sphere. I say NPpO because there really is no other reason for NpO to be created by NPO than this, among a few other things, which basically were meant to take people out of the NAAC.

I'd say it's the greatest rivalry and here is why: Explosiveness: They experienced 3 great wars, many other wars and fought bitterly until NAAC decided to disband (yes, they CHOSE TO). Political Influence: NAAC was an upper-tier alliance. They were sanctioned and were for a long time the strongest alliance on blue. They help lead the League and CoaLUEtion and AEGIS. To say it was all LUE is a lie. Long lasting: This rivalry is, arguably, still going on to this day. Is it a bitter/explosive fight? No. Do NAACers and NpOers get along? Yeah. However, we still strive to outdo each other, I think, in certain ways.

    Two words: NAAC Reunions.

If you have never seen one before, next time one is announced, look at the NAAC AA and you'll see what I mean by strong-spirited/tightly-grouped community. Even death cannot stop us. :)

  14. Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

    lulz

Oh, the puns. They used to be used a lot less.

    >_>

    lol

Was that the original "Do Something About It" or was that a meme back then too?

It probably wasn't THE ORIGINAL, however, it wasn't really a meme back then by any standards either.

  15. Hm, a fairly decent bell curve. Interesting.

    Aye, I noticed that earlier.

It looks like a little bit before GWIII is where the 50th percentile lies.

Also a good thing to note. Looks like a lot of people stayed interested in that time period. Shows who is the most OWF-active.

I arrived about a month or so after GW I ended and joined CIA (later became >_< & \m/). Stuck around till after the UJW then had enough and let my account get deleted through inactivity. Currently on about 300 NS !

I'm on about 20K mate after going up and down, so I feel ya. :P over 1220 days for me.

I remember my first aid package was around 10,000. R&R's most powerful nation was less than 4k NS. That was back in mid November 2006. We were a protectorate alliance of NAAC for a short period. To be honest I don't know my war timelines to even answer this poll.
Timeframes on your selections would help. I joined Feb 07 during a FARK.com greenlight, but I don't know what wars were going on at that time period; I didn't keep up with global affairs until I joined an alliance in Aug 07, and didn't read the OWF until Sept 07. So, I know when I joined, but I have no clue which one of your war markers to pick.

    Timelines:

    GWI: July of 2006

    GWII: January of 2007

    GWIII: March/April of 2007

Unjust War (UJW): September of 2007

(loong period of time in here... what happened CN?)

War of the Coalition (NoCB War): August/September of 2008

(another looong period of time in here.... what happened CN?)

Karma War: April through July 2009

    Just recently: Self explanatory.

  16. Pre-GWI Era [ 26 ] [12.32%]

    Around GWI [ 25 ] [11.85%]

    Around GWII [ 38 ] [18.01%]

    Around GWIII [ 43 ] [20.38%]

    Around the Unjust War [ 36 ] [17.06%]

Around the War of the Coalition [ 29 ] [13.74%]

    Around the Karma War [ 11 ] [5.21%]

    Just recently. [ 3 ] [1.42%]

Almost have a bell-curve going (with the exception being "Pre GWI Era").

Looks like most people joined around GWIII and Unjust War.

Anyway... I joined a little bit after GWI, 8/29/2006 5:48:25 PM. 1,226 days old. Too old to remember why I'm posting.
